She was a trainer now. Breeding license and everything aside, she was a pokemon trainer, whether she bred pokemon or performed in contests for a living. Wandering the routes looking for a battle was something she should be doing, but she truly didn't want to. Pokemon were peace loving, weren't they? Battling was a mechanism humans had invented, and she didn't feel like arguing with the morals of that right now. Right now she was out on the first route, looking for pokemon to call her own and be friends with. She didn't need humans, obviously.
But despite the way she thought of herself as a nice person, the pokemon around route 101 must have sensed the cynicism roaring inside of her, and right now the lack of wild encounters was proving to Aislinn that pokemon, along with humans, hated her as much as she hated society. But she did love pokemon! Nope...the wild pokemon around Littleroot were having none of that. They were avoiding her like the plague, and eventually the tender heels of the Altrui bastard were far too tired (not like she walked much, she just wasn't used to this) and so she ended up collapsing against a tree trunk.
Her blonde bangs veiled the sadness behind her eyes as she contemplated her own loneliness. Cassie floated next to her, never speaking, only understanding. Cassie was the one who understood her the most, if anyone understood her at all. But the munna preferred speaking only in dreams, so silence was their beloved mutual companion for most of their time. It was a kind silence though, not the ones from the Altrui mansion.
It was the kind of silence perfect for falling asleep in...
Aislinn entered her dream world, a landscape so beautiful she could only hope one day this was all she had to see. Cassiopeia floated by her, and they began talking, about everything and anything under the sun. Everything was golden, but only in her dreams.
Back in the outside world, sunset settled in, and darkness filled the woods.
She was feeling rather bored! And that would not do. Oh, no, it wouldn't do at all! So, she wandered about, investigating her surroundings for any amount of entertainment. With a huff and a puff she found none. Well, not at first. She was a clever Gastly, and quickly realized that all manner of species tended to wander the roads. And low and behold, a human and her companion! The human appeared slumped over and mopey and sleepy - which was truly unfortunate. Yes, indeed, it was. The Gastly released a small huff and approached in a bold manner, releasing a cry in order to gather some attention.
"Gastly!"
She bobbed and weaved in the air, beckoning the human into the waking world with her calls.
a wild gastly has appeared! it appears the wild gastly wants to play!

In her dreams, it was the quiet sort of dawn, and the season was always harsh winter. Something about the cold made her feel amazing- and of course in her dreams she was sitting under a bonsai tree, and her Munna was talking to her, as usual. She wasn't sure what they were talking about, but it was the best sort of conversation. The kind where you held nothing back. And so something unsual happened, and Aislinng heard something that did not belong. She was used to it- a shout for her to get downstairs for lunch or dinner or breakfast. A shout for her to wake up during class. But this wasn't human.
Her violet eyes flickered open, and not the least bit of fear or shock occupied them. Instead, instinct to survive and run away from an obvious ghost was left with this deep, surging amazement. Another pokemon. It was her first time seeing one other than Munna, and suddenly Aislinn was excited.
She shook her partner gently awake, and whispered her name. "Munna, Munna get up."
The Munna awoke, and looked at the gastly- just as curious and bubbling with life as his trainer. Aislinn smiled at the ghost.
"Hello," she said, stretching out her hand which was already trembling with excitement. Her hand lightly phased through the ghastly, which made a small, happy giggle escape her mouth. Aislinn had forgotten what it was like to be so happy in such a long, long time.
Gastly peered at the hand curiously, face reflecting her delight as she realized she had successfully awakened the human. It did not appear to mind her presence. Not at all, actually. The ghost-type curiously reached out with her wisps of gas, experimentally brushing against the delicate flesh of the human's hand. It felt... warm. Intriguing! It had been a lengthy while since she had encountered something so warm and soft.
"Gass..."
She executed rapid motions in order to examine the pair more closely. The human's clothing, its figure, its hair, even its companion whom appeared unfamiliar yet friendly enough. The Gastly greeted the pair and bobbed up and down excitedly. What a cute human! Perhaps she could keep it? How does one keep a human, anyway? A flicker of bewilderment reached her eyes as she tilted back and forth.

The pokemon seemed happy, and Aislinn was happy that it was happy. She remembered all those years ago, her first time seeing a pokemon other than those pampered Vulpix and Eevees of her household. Pokemon were supposed to be down to earth, like this creature here. The gastly felt cold to the touch, like a different realm. Aislinn loved the cold for a reason, and her eyes met evenly with the pokemon's. Her Munna floated into the air, examining the ghastly just like it was examining her. The gastly looked over ever inch of Aislinn, and Aislinn smiled.
"You can stay around if you like," she said, and then quickly remembered her detest for pokeballs. "Only if you want to, though. Sometimes it's nice..." her voice trailed off, and her eyes broke contact with the gastly's. She turned to the sky, which was dipped in the loveliest shades of orange and purple.
"It's nice having someone to talk with, even if you can't talk back," she mumbled, a littel pathetically too, as she wrapped her hands around her knees and put her head on top. Her violet eyes stared at the ghastly, and she wondered what she was supposed to do now.
"Would you like to come with me?" Aislinn asked, half-speaking about a journey and half-speaking about a different idea. "I can show you a dream world, but I won't promise your dreams come true." Her munna floated ever closer, and positioned himself on Aislinn's lap, where it began to emit a purple and pink smoke that reflected one of the dreams she had eaten from Aislinn.
The realm was the same- a bonsai tree, a beautiful river. It occasionally changed to show a library, or other various places Aislinn liked to dream about.
Gastly peered curiously at the human, absently noting the presence of fluctuating emotion. It appeared to be a touch somber more than the ghost-type liked, but, it appeared to brighten up when she was around at least. Its words were taken note of, with the Gastly pausing its casual bouncing briefly to carefully consider the standing offer. Stay here and impatiently wait for the next form of entertainment to waltz in? Or go along with this human instead? Going along would mean traveling, and she had heard of that word before! Traveling was suppose to be fun. Very fun, actually.
But something else solidified her choice. An image fluttered before her very eyes, introducing her to strange and unfamiliar sights. She peered at them with interest, wide smile lessening slightly as she was stared intently at the fuzzy images. Oh, yes, she simply had to come along now. Gastly nodded, eyes falling shut as she cast the woman a look of warmth.
"Gastly."
the wild gastly has agreed to go along with aislinn!

The gastly seemed like a curious creature, and inevitably happiness was something Aislinn needed more of in her life. A pokemon known for mishceif would be the perfect balance to the calm spirited Munna which she held with her already. It's happy eyes scanned unseen environments and quickly the gastly gave her a look of pure warmth and love.
Who said ghosts were evil creatures? Even the worst of ghost pokemon was better than the best of humans.
She then winced at what the gastly's acceptance meant. She'd have to use a pokeball. Aislinn sighed slightly, and removed from her bag a pokeball. She looked at the gastly and gave it a look of apology.
"Sorry, Lyra. You'll have to accept a pokeball for now. But I promise you some fresh air soon." She took the pokeball and opened the capsule, gently holding the sphere on her palm as it closed and rolled around. She hoped that he warm smile was acceptance anyway. She definitely did not want to do this whole process any other way.
The irritated Nidoran bared his buck teeth in irritation, made discontent by his misfortune. Another male had taken away his female, their battle resulting in both the lost of his pride and his mate. Squeezing his eyes shut, he resisted the urge to shout out his frustration - merely gnashing his teeth instead. He walked alongside the road, comforted by the night and the dim light of the moon.
The male eventually happened upon the woman. Peering at her curiously, he quickly grew irritated by her presence. Deciding to release his rage through some form of combat, he released a low growl in her direction. Pawing at the ground, he made his message clear.
aislinn captured the wild gastly! a wild nidoran has appeared! the wild nodoran has challenged aislinn!
So I put my faith in something unknown I'm living on such sweet nothing But I'm tired of hope with nothing to hold I'm living on such

The gastly disappeared into the capsule and was not seen again, and Aislinn heard that satisfying click of the pokeball mechanism which seemed to be the sound of victory for trainers world wide. She smiled sadly and quickly placed the pokeball in belt before hearing a low growl. Her curious eyes scanned the route's floor. It was getting darker and harder to see, but she could make out the outline of a nidoran on the ground.
Her munna floated closer, drifting towards the threat and putting it in front of him instead of in front of Aislinn. Aislinn closed her eyes and opened them again. Wild pokemon were dangerous, but they could be tamed. She was not foolish enough to believe that the Nidoran's actions meant anything more than a challenge. But she was very afraid fo her pokemon being hurt. Even then...
Defense curl, she thought simply, and the Munna heard it through her link with her trainer; that was their preferred mode of communication, although it was hard to get more than a few words through when they were not asleep.
The Munna curled up in a ball, strengthening its resistance. Aislinn, meanwhile, examined the Nidoran.
"I'll accept your challenge, but you'll have to be alright with joining me if you lose."
God her heart was already thudding for her poor Munna. She knew the pokemon would most probably win, but she was still afraid.
Nidoran's nose twitched as he comprehended the human's message. Yet no hesitance flashed within his gaze, for he detected that subtle tremble of voice. There was uncertainty there - a clear show of weakness. He felt confident. The poison-type's eyes took on an ominous shade of crimson, the look, coupled by a sneer enhancing his look of disgust.
Weakness was a terrible thing. An infectious excuse.
"Nido!"
He lunged forward, wielding his horn as he lunged toward his foe.
the wild nidoran used leer! the wild nidoran used peck!
So I put my faith in something unknown I'm living on such sweet nothing But I'm tired of hope with nothing to hold I'm living on such

The forward lunge was predicted with precision, and Aislinn quickly shouted out at her Munna when she saw it. The Munna seemed to react even before Aislinn shouted, but that was likely because he had caught hold of the internal panic before the external one. It floated to the side, dodging the attack and then just as quick it shot out a beam of swirling, pink and purple energy.
A psywave attack, Aislinn recognized. It was a pretty strong move, but she didn't even know what to do. As always, during a battle she froze up. Uncertain. The hesitance was probably okay with the Munna, but with her new teammates it would not work so well. She bit her lip, cursing at herself for being a sheltered little Altrui at best and a prissy rich girl at worse.
The psywave was soon followed by another one, while Aislinn remained hesitant and frozen in her own lack of ability to act. She didn't even know what to do!
Just in time, the exact words she needed to hear propped into her mind, the familiar and comforting voice all too wonderful to her ears. Don't worry, you're doing fine. Aislinn took a deep breath and studied her opponent. She would not let it get the better of her.
As soon as the Pokemon was struck by the precise wave, he knew instantly that he had little chance of coming out the victor. His body grew immensely sore, the throbbing agony nearly crippling the poison-type.
"..."
He preformed a leap, pooling the remainder of his energy into dodging the single beam. Afterward, he remained idle, panting roughly as his ears twitched. The Nidoran's muscles screamed in agony, so he merely slumped onto his side, breathing rapidly. The Pokemon had never been exposed to such an attack before, and could only lay idle at first.
"Ni-do."
He stood after a lengthy while, struggling to maintain his pride. If he was to lose he would do so standing up. Barking weakly at the strange Pokemon, he invited the creature to attack him once more.
the wild nidoran was hit by psywave! the wild nidoran dodged psywave!

Aislinn watched as the iridescent pink waves floated in their usual unpredictable rings and seemed to phase through the nidoran, causing the wild pokemon pain and severe damage without even seeming to do anything. Pokemon were fearsome creatures was what she realized at that exact point, lip still half being bit by her teeth, hands still clamped up and body still rigid. The Nidoran hardly even seemed in a condition to walk, let alone attack again. The pitiful state made Aislinn reach a hand out, as if to offer help to the pokemon.
Without knowing it she had bent over, and gave the Nidoran a shaky smile. If the wild pokemon accepted it, she would have preferred capturing it without battling. But then she saw a flash of pink behind the Nidoran as the Munna shot yet another beam of brilliant, pinkish light at it.
Aislinn's eyes opened wide in shock, and she jumped back to avoid getting hit by the attack. She glared at her Munna, at her trusted companion. The pokemon responded simply with signals to her brain.
It would have attacked you.
Oh, so it was about protecting her now? What about protecting the Munna? What about using defense curl, about being safe instead of...Aislinn took a breath. Battling was a part of her life now. She should get used to it. Her attention turned back to the Nidoran.
Nidoran faced the attack with bravado. But he could not prevent the pained cry from escaping him as he was struck once more. A hot agony tore throughout the entirety of his stout build. His eyes remained opened for a seconds after before they fell shut and he released a sigh. Sweet bliss came in the form of darkness.
"..."
the wild nidoran was hit by psywave! the wild nidoran has fainted! capture? munna gained a level!
So I put my faith in something unknown I'm living on such sweet nothing But I'm tired of hope with nothing to hold I'm living on such

Aislinn sighed sadly as the Nidoran fainted, kneeling to the ground as she examined its purple body. It was the first time that she and Munna had really argued or even disagreed over soemthing, but she supposed not all things worked out so well. She summoned her courage and removed a pokeball from her grasp, lightly tapping it against the cold body of the nidoran. The pokemon was sucked in by a brief but bold red light, and the sphere closed shortly after.
The blonde fixed her hair and stood up, dusting herself carefully. SHe took her sweet time with everything- it was a habit of hers. When she was ready, her turned to face her Munna, which seemed to be cowering away from her. Aislinn offered him a steady smile to say that nothing was wrong, and then she reached her hand out. Greedily floating closer, the Munna reached his own hand and put it onto hers.
The duo continued walking away from the forest where Aislinn had found herself asleep, and towards hopefully greater adventures.
