Avery felt like one of those tertiary characters in a television show that enters the show wide-eyed and bushy-tailed, ready to take on the world, only to find out later that the world is fucked and full of disappointments. Sure he'd seen some of Unova, sometimes traveling as far as Nimbasa for a soccer game or a show, but there was never much need to leave Humilau. So, for now, he was basically empty of all information outside of his small life in a small town, thus making him that naive character who was in for a brutal awakening. so, of course, he couldn't help but feel overjoyed at the sight of Route 101, home to the world's most basic Pokemon.
In its simplest description, Route 101 was full of green grass that consisted of two varieties of height -- not tall and tall grass. More abstractly, it was the home of the dreams of all beginner trainers, the start of a journey that would actualize them as trainers/breeders/coordinators. For now, it felt more like the home of Avery's hopes and dreams, though he kept the words "Don't go in the tall grass" somewhere in the back of his mind. With sharp intake of the rosy aroma, Avery took his first step forward. And then, another step. This trend continued for quite a while with little to zero interaction with anything or anyone, much to the the dismay of the aspiring coordinator. He wanted some excitement, some pizzazz! Hoping to liven things up, he released his Staryu into the open in an attempt to bond. With a flash of white light, the water-type appeared, looking at him with its gem(?) As friendly as it was, Avery still couldn't tell which side was the top and if the thing had eyes. Does anybody know? The unnamed Staryu circled its master a few times before landing in front of its trainer. "Hey buddy ole' pal!" Avery said excitedly, freeing up a hand to pat the point of its head(?) The Carvanha egg that had been occupying his upper extremities had been an amazing gift for the starting coordinator, though he had to admit it was a bit of a pain to carry. With that, the coordinator, his Staryu, and his egg moved along Route 101, looking for some excitement and a name for the water-type.
"Do I give you a gendered name? Or a name that can work for both genders? Maybe just a cool sounding word?" he thought of his favorite words -- serendipity? No, that's dumb. Baboonery? Fun to say, but an awful name. Wasn't he supposed to be creative or something? The Staryu just whirled around a few times in response. Avery rolled his eyes. "So helpful."
Damnit, he already sucked at this whole gig. No worries though, he'd get better!
i hope this tv character exists in some else's head other than my own owo also i have an egg and this is so so very open please respond!
Let's be honest here, Bunny hadn't done a lot of training. She got her Dratini, Diana, just a day ago, but she still felt rather bad that even after having her first battle, she hadn't really tried to train yet. So here she was, on Route 101 again, searching for wild pokémon. But somehow she had a feeling that wasn't going to happen soon — probably because she was too busy playing little games with her pokémon.
"That's right Diana, you can do it!" Bunny giggled as the Dratini slithered up to her, a tiny ball in her mouth. When Diana reached her trainer, her whole body was writhing with excitement, anticipating the next toss.
"Annnnnnnnnd... GO!"
The Dratini dashed into the brush of the bordering trees, disappearing for a moment only to return swiftly. Bunny was pretty surprised with how fast she could be.
After a couple more tosses into the brush, Bunny got especially curious and threw with a rather harsh arm. She didn't really mean to throw it that hard, but it ended up gliding between the nearby trees and somewhere hidden away. Regardless, Diana dashed for it and disappeared beneath bushes.
Bunny only waited a short 10 or so seconds before deciding it was taking Diana too long to return, so she got to her feet and began tracking through where she thought the ball and pokémon went. It didn't take long for Bunny to nearly trip into another clearing, where Diana was slithering back to her trainer giddily. However, Diana wasn't the only one there, and that made Bunny freeze.
A boy and his Staryu were standing side by side, probably staring at her. Bunny made a point to look away and avoid contact blushing furiously. Hurrying to Diana, Bunny scooped the little Dratini into her arms and gave her a couple of nervous pets.
"I'm sorry to have bothered you, I didn't mean to intrude, I'll just be going now."

Picking a name was such an important task. Avery didn't want to give Staryu some prissy-ass name that seemed pretentious, but he didn't want to be boring. Contest judges probably hated boring. It needed to be cool. He wondered how his parents did it. Baby books? For a star-like thing? As he stared into the central gem of his water-type partner, Avery entered a trance of concentration. It wasn't often that he concentrated this hard, you know. He felt as though that if he simply stared at the Staryu, perhaps a name would just come to him. Just magically, like things were falling into -- ow.
A barely perceivable thud on his back caused for Avery to turn around quickly, though it certinly hadn't warranted an ow. "Oh?" Looking down at his feet, a small ball sat, tempting him to bend over and chuck it back in the direction it presumably came. Maybe someone knew he was so incompetent that he couldn't even think of a name. Oscar? Blech, no. As he willed himself to reach down to grab it, a Dratini came slithering out of the brush, eyes on the prize as it tracked down the ball. It gave little acknowledgement of Avery's existence, not that he minded. Had it charmed him with those cute black eyes, the coordinator might have been tempted to steal the domesticated little guy for himself. "Well hi there!" he called to the dragon-type, who was busy trying to get a better grip on the ball in its mouth.
As he awed at the little dragon-type, Staryu's attention drifted to a rustling in the bushes behind the Dratini. It hopped a few feet closer, positioning itself between its master and the greenery. And then, a girl appeared, nearly falling right into their little area.
It was her brown hair that caught Avery's attention, finally pulling him out of the fantasy of riding a majestic Dragonite through the night sky. Her stumbling was enough to sending him rushing to her side. "Whoa! Are you okay?" she was presumably this Dratini's trainer, though she didn't appear to have the grace of a dragon master. In fact, she rather clumsily apologized and turned in an attempt to leave, but not before Avery could stop her.
"Don't apologize!" the cheer in his voice was to makeup for her unneeded embarrassment. "I had, like, 800 scratches on my arm from trying to fight my way through a thorn bush the other day." it was a lame anecdote at best, but hopefully it was enough. "Besides, I'd be falling all over my Dratini if I had one!" he grinned even wider, his eyes falling to the dragon-type once again. Then, he looked at his nameless Staryu, adjusting the egg in his clutches to one arm so he could pat it a few times. "Not that I'd let any Pokemon in the whole world replace you! People are gonna be in awe of our awesome coordinating skills one day, my friend." Staryu offered a few excited hops in agreement.
She was panicking. She really didn't mean to interrupt somebody, and now they were probably annoyed or something. Bunny could only imagine the disgruntled face of the boy as he glowered at her, rightfully annoyed at the unwelcome introduction. It would be any second now he would be yelling at her, and she tensed in preparation, turning to flee, when —
Oh, Arceus, he was right there! Oh no, oh no, oh no, she couldn't run! Oh no, oh no, oh...—?
He didn't look angry. He looked friendly. Pleased, even! Well, this was an odd turn of events. Why would somebody be pleased to be interrupted?
"Oh! Um... oh, yeah, I'm okay, sorry," Bunny blushed a little after her delayed answer, nervously fixing her hair. "I-I really am sorry, I didn't mean to, um... yeah...."
But regardless whatever apologies she made, the boy dismissed them and brushed them off like she was more of a pleasure than a nuisance. Very slowly she began to feel a little less bad, and her nervousness began to wane. But only slightly.
And then he mentioned something about scratches, and decided to force herself to ease up on herself some. He really seemed to be friendly, so she might as well return the feeling! "Oh, I know how you feel! I know this route is like, a straight path to Oldale, but I can get so lost sometimes.... I guess I have a pretty bad sense of direction!" With a small, quiet giggle, Bunny scratched the top of Diana's head with her finger absentmindedly.
The boy seemed to notice, as he pointed the Dratini out and praised her generously, which made Bunny blush for some reason and Diana to squeal in appreciation. "Yeah, I got really, reeaaaally lucky. I just got her yesterday, so I guess you could say I'm still falling for her... hah... that was... really lame..." Mentally cursing herself, Bunny began to mumble by the end of the sentence in hopes that the boy wouldn't notice, but she knew that he would. Oh well, at least he didn't seem to mind much, right?
And then her focus changed to the Staryu. The boy was giving it credit after complimenting Diana (who seemed much too starry-eyed after meeting this boy for whatever reason), talking about how much he appreciates the water-type pokémon.
"Oh, is this your pokémon?" Bunny asked, crouching onto the ground and releasing Diana from her grasp. "Did you get him from Professor Birch, too? And do you mind if I pet him?" As she reached her open hand out to the Staryu to approach on his own, Diana moved to the boy's legs and rubbed up against them, looking up at his face and attempting to get his attention with her wide eyes.
"Tiiiiniiiiiiiii..." she cooed. She probably wanted another compliment.

Poor girl, she seemed like such a nervous type! Avery could never understand shyness, not when all he ever really wanted to do was talk and talk and talk and -- well, yeah. Rather than trying to shake the shyness out of her, he simply kept on beaming with the hope of making her more comfortable, though he figured there was about a 50% chance it was doing quite the opposite. She at least kept the conversation going, so it couldn't have been going too poorly!
"I totally get it. I'm kind of a space cadet from time to time so I'll occasionally just go off in the complete wrong direction...it used to bug my mom so much when I was running errands for her in Humilau." he chuckled at the memory of his mother calling to him from across town to let him know he'd gone the wrong way. "Hopefully I've conquered that since arriving in Hoenn." no, really, he hoped that he had. He was lucky Route 101 was such a straight shot. Another chuckle arose from the base of his throat, but not from reminiscing.
Rather, it was due to the girl's absolutely terrible pun. Luckily for her, he loved terrible puns. His chuckle escalated to an actual laugh for just a moment before Avery got a hold of himself. "That was a good one. I mean, it kinda sucked, but it was good. It didn't fall as flat as you thought it did." that didn't quite make sense, but whatever. His pun was at least just as bad as hers anyways. "Yeah, don't ever volunteer me for stand up comedy."
Suddenly, she'd taken notice of his Staryu, who was happy to have the attention. Staryu seemed to think it was a star (both in the literal sense and the figurative), at least, Avery thought that's how it felt. He smiled at her and nodded excitedly. "Yeah, it's mine! Professor Birch gave it to me yesterday as well. We must have gone in at different times." Before he could answer, the Dratini was slithering over to him, coiling between his legs affectionately. Avery chuckled once again. "Yeah, please do!" he finally responded to the girl, who was already moving to pet Staryu. Staryu seemed to look up at her(?), though Avery was still having difficulty discerning where Staryu was looking and which tip was the top. Staryu leaped up in front of the girl with hopes of being caught, apparently wanting a full body massage.
"You are just the sweetest little Pokemon, aren't you?" Avery cooed, now kneeling and rubbing the Dratini's head softly. "Pokemon are absolutely amazing, aren't they?" he'd come across a few Dratini in his life, as they did live in the ocean and a few wanderers would be reeled in back home every once in a while, but he'd never really gotten the chance to get this close to one. It was amazing to experience new things.

MY GIRLFRIEND
NO DOUBT ABOUT IT SHE'S A BAD, BAD GIRLFRIEND
Bunny began to giggle as the boy began to tell a tale of him constantly going the wrong place in his home town. "Wow, you lived in Humilau? That's in Unova somewhere, right?" Bunny wasn't quite sure, besides her father telling her once that he traveled to multiple different cities in Unova during a major contest at some point. Although Humilau sounded familiar, she couldn't remember if that was one of the towns he visited or not."Oh, and I would hope so!" she giggled. "Otherwise you'll get stuck here, just like me!"
The pun she had made earlier really was an act of pure nervousness, but to Bunny's surprise, the boy seemed to genuinely find it funny. He laughed a little before making a little joke of his own, which elicited another giggle from Bunny. "Oh my gosh, no, we can't keep making bad jokes, we'll never stop!" She laughed quietly, covering her mouth. "And if you don't recommend me, I won't recommend you!" Her worries began to melt away rather quickly now, and she found herself forgetting about how awkward her intrusion was. Instead, she was now too focused on this friendly boy and his pokémon!
Speaking his pokémon, the Staryu practically leaped into her arms when she offered to pet it. Laughing loudly and catching the large star-like pokémon, Bunny remarked, "Well, aren't you sweeter than a poképuff!" She didn't really know how to pet a Staryu, or even if you could, but she tried regardless — it didn't seem to mind. "Welp, it would've been cool if we could have met each other at the Professor's Lab! But this works too, I guess!"
Diana was, quite frankly, being an attention Watchog. She keep curling around the boy's fingers and squealing in delight as he payed her so much attention and showered her with compliments. Bunny giggled again at her pokémon's antics. "Well, aren't you two just in heaven?" She asked jokingly between two of the Stayu's points. "And yeah, they are amazing! I can't believe people don't see just how smart and wonderful they are, really. Aren't you, cutie?" She poked the Staryu a few times, listening to it's alien snickers.
And then the boy introduced himself as Avery, and Bunny felt a small rush of embarrassment again (though nothing like what she felt at first). "Oh, oops! Eheh, sorry. I'm Bunny Beckett, nice to meet you Avery! And that's Diana," she giggled as the Dratini started to climb up one of Avery's legs. "She loves to be petted and play games."

The word Humilau made Avery smile. Happy, even at peace. The sound of the crashing waves that had been on repeat for eighteen years was still etched into his mind -- one of the many perks of living by the ocean. His head bobbed a few times. "Yep! It's out on the water, kind of in the middle of nowhere. But it's an amazing city, so if you ever go to Unova for any reason, you have to pay it a visit! In the last decade they built an underwater tunnel with walls of glass, so you can see all the water pokemon that your heart desires. It's magnificent, totally worth the trip. 'Course, Unova's pretty far." that was for sure. The flight to Hoenn took longer than he'd anticipated.
"So you've never been to Unova at all?" he cocked his head to the side, like it was a foreign idea to have not visited his home region. Unova hadn't started trading and dealing with Kanto, Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh until not that long ago, people probably hadn't even known of its existence. Without much more thought, he smirked. The girl -- Bunny -- had made a pact with him to never force one another to do stand up comedy. "Well, this looks like the beginning of a beautiful friendship." he laughed at his lame reference, but he wasn't one to dwell. He liked his lameness, and so did everyone else, right?
Rather than thinking about how funny and charming he may or may not have been, Avery took to petting Diana. He was glad to hear that Bunny had the same respect and appreciation of Pokemon that he did -- not that it was super uncommon to find them amazing and irreplaceable, but it was nice to know that he wasn't dealing with someone he didn't want to deal with. "They really are masterpieces, each and every entry in the Pokedex."Arceus, did I really just say that? I'm starting to scare even myself with the pep. Jeez, Avery, tone it down.
And yet, he didn't really regret sounding like a brainwashed freak as Diana climbed up his leg, eliciting a childish laugh from him. "Well, Bunny Beckett, pleasure's mine." his eyes fell to the Dratini who had reached his abdomen and was still making progress toward his head. "As for you, Diana, we aren't so different, are we? Being petted and playing games are kind of my thing."
BUNNY BECKETT avery is getting so cheery make him stooop xD
"Oh, wow," Bunny said, starry-eyed. "I've never been to a beach, can you believe it? And yeah, Unova's pretty far, but by what my dad's told me about it, it's someplace really worth visiting. He had a contest there once, and he placed pretty high up, but he visited around a few places and said he loved it. Even discussed moving there with my mom before I was born, but ended up in Kalos instead." She's not gonna lie though, she loved Kalos. Like, a lot. She didn't talk about it all that much, or she hadn't since she came to Hoenn. But it really was a beautiful haven to her. "But really, an underwater walkway? That's amazing! I bet you can see all kinds of sea-living pokémon there!
"Oh, and no, I havent. But I've heard about it! Again, from my Dad. I think my mom traveled there for a little bit too, but she's never talked about it much. She based most of her travels in Sinnoh, where she used to live before she met my dad." She wondered idly if her mother had visited Hoenn, too. Bunny knew that her father had, because this was his home region — that's why he was such a fantastic Coordinator (and also why Bunny had decided to go to Hoenn and start her journey rather than stay in Kalos, although she loved it. Hoenn felt like it was meant for her, in a sense.)
But she should probably stop reminiscing on her family! "Oh, I really hope so!" Bunny grinned, really and sincerely hoping she and Avery would become great friends in the future. "I could use lots of friends here, especially since I'm going to need some people to cheer me on during contests!" She giggled. This boy really was just a ray of sunshine, and Bunny loved it! She felt like everybody needed at least one person like this in her life, truly.
Bunny watched, amused as her Dratini climbed all the way up Avery's body and settled on top of his head like some snake-y hat. With a laugh, she said, "They really are! Like, wow, there's so many of them now, and just think of how many we haven't even discovered yet!" Turning to the Staryu in our arms, she said, "That's right, cutie, you're one of those, too! You're just as amazing as the rest, and you know it, don't you?"
The Staryu seemed to comply but cuddling with her even tighter. Laughing loudly by now, Bunny allowed it to essentially tackle her onto her back as she gave it tiny little tickles all down its body. "I don't mind games, either! They're some of the best things, aren't they, cutie?" She asked the Stayu as it writhed in was sounded like laughter. "By the way, Avery, does this li'l fella have a name?"

Avery was floored. "NEVER BEEN TO A BEACH?!" his eyes began darting around, searching for some kind of shoreline. It was futile. "Beaches are awesome!" it was a biased opinion. "Well, I wonder if there are any beach towns in Hoenn? I'll just HAVE to take you to the beach. Just don't get too sandy or you'll get sand where you don't want sand." he chuckled, only then in his small fit of laughter realizing the more important part of that little anecdote. "Wait, your dad is a coordinator? That's so cool!"
Avery played back Bunny's little back story in his head, probing it for any other interesting information. She wasn't just another local going on a journey. "So, anyways, you're from Kalos? That's so neat, I've never been! I guess that makes us even or something. Ever been to Lumiose City?" he was a bit...uneducated in the ways of Kalos. Lumiose City was the only one he knew there, but it was kind of a cornerstone of the region. It was the main attraction, wasn't it?
Before he could think about it anymore, Bunny continued on. As she spoke, Avery realized how dull his history was: born and raised to two parents from a little beach town nobody really knew about off the coast of Unova. And yet, he didn't care. Nothing made him happier than Humilau. "What was your mom doing in Sinnoh for her travels?" Avery was curious to see if there was another more prominent coordinator for him to one day meet. "But, yeah, Unova is a great place!"
So, he'd made a friend. His first friend on his journey. Luckily for him, the first person he had met other than Professor Birch was this sweet and kind girl from Kalos, and not some jackass. Yeah, having to deal with more difficult people wasn't going to be the highlight of this jou- wait.
"Wait." he repeated, this time aloud. "You're a coordinator?" pfft, it was stupid of Avery to not assume so in the first place! So this was his competition, this cute little Dratini. If so, that wasn't gonna easy. "I don't know how much I'm gonna be able to cheer you on when I'm too busy competing against you!" he stuck out his tongue and threw his hands up behind his head, as if relaxing. "I'm a coordinator, too. And I'll have you know I'm gonna make it all the way through the Hoenn circuit, me and my Staryu." he beamed once again, amazed to find that his first friend was a fellow coordinator.
By this point, Diana had reached his head, coiling up into a snake-like turban. It wasn't uncomfortable for Avery, so he didn't mind in the slightest. Rather, he raised a hand up to it as to model in fashionably. "Does this make me look good?" he asked nonchalantly, smirking slightly. Gosh, he loved Pokemon. "Hopefully there are thousands more to discover, just to enrich our lives even more!" it sounded selfish coming from a human to say, but he really just wanted to meet Pokemon. To see the world, preferably. Those two would hopefully coincide with his future as a coordinator.
Avery laughed as Bunny fell to the ground, the Staryu essentially knocking her down in fits of laughter. It might have looked alien and robotic, but his Staryu had such a personality to it that you couldn't deny it to be another loving Pokemon.
The smile on his face suddenly seemed to dissipate into a look of embarrassment as Bunny asked about Staryu's name. "Eheh, well, um...no. I've been trying to figure a name out for it but I just haven't been able to come up with one that fits Staryu well. And the more I interact with it, the harder it seems to become." he shrugged, keeping his head still enough for the Dratini to go undisturbed -- she must have been comfortable. "I'm open to any and all suggestions!"
Bunny laughed at Avery's outburst, pleased with feeling so comfortable with the boy now. "I know, right? How pitiful is that, never been to a beach!" With another giggle, she said, "There's actually a festival in Petalburg, and it's on a beach! I heard about it from somewhere, and it's actually where I'm headed! Maybe we can meet up there?" she suggested hopefully. It'd be really nice to know that at least one friend was there, because although Bunny loved festivals, she was always too shy to participate in anything without a friend there!
"Oh, yeah," Bunny nodded, "my Dad was a pretty well-known coordinator in Kalos. Not as much as he was here, in Hoenn, but still. I was born and raised there, and just recently, like within the last five or so years, did he decide to retire from the big stuff. I loved Kalos, still do. I know I'm biased, and I don't know how any of the other regions look, but I have this feeling that it'll always be the most beautiful to me, y'know? There's sooooooo many flower fields and beautiful trees and there's even this one town that has a Gym built into a tree!" She felt like she was ranting, but she didn't really mind all that much. It had been a while since she indulged about Kalos. It gave her a twinge of homesickness.
When Avery mentioned Lumiose, though, her eyes lit up like fireworks. "Went there? I lived there!" She felt herself bunch up in joy (probably squishing the Staryu just a little too tight for comfort). "Oh my Arceus, it was beautiful. I mean, I know nature is beautiful, but Lumiose is a whole other ball field! It had towering hotels and apartments and buildings, hundreds of café's and shops, restaurants, parlors, boutiques, everything! And that's not even mentioning Lumiose Tower! Like, wow...." She had made herself speechless. If she hadn't been distracted by Avery's presence, she might've found herself crying with how much she missed her home city. But right now, she was overwhelmed with awe of her memories. Hoenn seemed so lived-in and ancient, but in a way that she supposed was also awe-inspiring in a different category.
But then something about her mother made her snap out of it. "What? Oh!" She smacked her forehead lightly. What a dunce! "My mom! Right!
"My mom was from Johto. She was a really, really, really amazing trainer. She beat the Johto and Kanto leagues all in one go — but it wasn't really all that impressive for her. Her family was a long, long line of really prestigious Johto/Kanto trainers, and she wanted something to be recognized with. So she decided to do something different than the rest of her family, kind of rebellious really, and started anew in Sinnoh. From there, she trained and battled just like she did in her home regions, and eventually became Champion for that league, too. But it wasn't long until she was defeated, and then she was satisfied with herself. Soon afterwards she met my dad, and the rest is history. Or so she tells me.
Now she's really rambling. Oops.
Bunny found herself gaping, and then gasping, and then having a fit of giggles as Avery announced that he, too, was a Coordinator. "Oh, wow! What's the chance that we'd end up meeting each other so soon in our journeys! That's awesome!" Laughing, she said, "And no matter what, I'll always cheer for you, even if I am the one winning." She winked.
"Oh, I'm just kidding, I'll be sure to support you regardless! And I expect you to win for me in vengeance if I lose!" With another tiny laugh and a tickle for the Staryu, she added, "I'm sure you two will be one of the best on the contest stage — behind me, of course!"
Bunny belted into full-on laughter as Avery posed with Diana coiled on top of his head, unable to refrain herself. "Yes, darling," she snickered out in an awful accent, "you look absolutely faaaaab-u-lous!" It took her a good three or so minutes to calm down enough to agree with Avery's statement. Once she could breathe again, Bunny asked, "Have you ever thought of meeting a legendary pokémon?" She sighed, starry-eyed once again. "Just imagine. They're only legends, I guess, but to think there's the smallest chance of us befriending them! Wow."
Giggling again, Bunny found Avery's embarrassment kinda cute. "Aww, it's okay! It takes me a while to name them, too. I usually try to do something that relates to their species or evolutions. Sorta corny, but I think it's cute."

A festival in Petalburg? This was the first Avery was hearing about it! Of course, he wasn't exactly the well-connected and well-informed type. Still, by the sound of it, it will be something for Avery to look forward to. Plus, a beach=water Pokemon, and water Pokemon=happiness. He grinned ear-to-ear at the idea of joining up there. "That sounds like a fantastic idea, Bunny! Whatever is going on there, I'm in!"
His smile didn't seem to want to dissipate as Bunny talked about her father and her home region. By the sound of it, Kalos was an amazing region. Just hearing her talk about it made Avery want to visit, but he knew that there was a lot to see here in Hoenn as well. Nevertheless, he made a mental note to look up Bunny's father if he ever did go, just to meet a big timer coordinator in person! "Sounds like you have some patriotism in you! Kalos sounds great, and so does your dad! Hopefully we get to be big time coordinators like him." the prospect of being able to entertain thousands of people at big, real contests was too enticing for Avery to ever give anything less than his best to get there.
The impressiveness of Bunny's parents didn't stop with her dad. If anything, it only seemed to rise when she mentioned her mother. Beating the Kanto and Johto leagues was one thing, but all on her first try? "Wow." he said simply, overwhelmed by the sheer amount of information Bunny seemed to have slipped into a short minute or two. "All I'm really hearing is that your mom was the champion of Sinnoh, honestly." Once again, wow. And then he thought about Bunny, and how she had a lot to live up to. "So is it a lot of pressure? Trying to be like your parents? I don't mean to pry since we only just met a few minutes ago, but it sounds like it would be tough." while his parents didn't have any amazing accolades, they were so proud of him for even attempting to go out and see the world. He was the pioneer of his family, and while it was scary, he knew that his parents would be proud of him no matter what. Surely Bunny's would be the same way!
"I guess it was just a stroke of luck for my first friend to be a fellow coordinator, huh? I guess I'll cheer you on, even when we're competing against one another." he smiled at the idea of it. "No promises though! I'll be sure to win for you in vengeance if you do the same for me!" they could share the ribbons, he supposed.
As he modeled Diana off like a horrible headdress, he found her slowly unwinding and slithering down the side of his face. He could only really hold a straight face for a few seconds before bursting into laughter, scaring Diana into the air. She, of course, landed fairly smoothly, but Avery couldn't help but feel a little bit guilty as he laughed along. When Bunny found the air to stop herself, Avery followed suit a few moments later, a few giggles escaping as Bunny spoke. Legendary Pokemon? His thoughts immediately drifted to Reshiram, Zekrom, Keldeo and the whole lot...they were the legendaries of Unova, and he'd been dreaming of meeting them since he was a kid. The dreams never really stopped. He nodded excitedly in agreement. "How I'd look to get a nice view of the world from the back of a huge Dragon." his voice trailed as he looked at Diana. One day, she might be a huge dragon. "Promise me you'll help me out if you ever become a Dragonite, okay Diana?"
"I've been trying to tie in the whole species thing, but it's been tough." Suddenly, he smiled. Looking at the gem on his Staryu, he knew what he wanted to call it. "But I think I just figured it out!" The Staryu leaped out of Bunny's arms and hopped up to her own master's. Avery caught it and held it out in front of him. "How about Ruby? I know that this isn't a ruby, but it's close enough." the Staryu made a few sounds of agreement, making Avery grin all the wider.

MY GIRLFRIEND
NO DOUBT ABOUT IT SHE'S A BAD, BAD GIRLFRIEND
Bunny giggled as Avery's face twisted into something of wonder and excitement at the mention of a beach. He seemed like he'd feel at home there or something, probably because of how close his home town was to the water (or at least, that's how he made it sound, Bunny wasn't completely sure).
"I love Kalos more than anything," she hummed contently. "Well, I mean, not more than anything, but it's really important to me." She supposed that was probably how Avery felt about Unova, with the same burst of joy and pride in his chest as she had. And then, with a burst of determination in her eyes, Bunny said, "You bet I'm gonna be as good of a Coordinator as him! I'm not stopping till I get there, or even surpass him!" It was her dream, and she wasn't going to let herself down.
Bunny giggled again as Avery seemed to become awestruck as Bunny recounted her lineage, but this time with a blush on her face and a humble hand brushing through her bangs. "Yeah, she's pretty great," she said, biting her lip a little. She hoped she didn't look prideful. But Bunny cocked her head at Avery when he asked if she was pressured. "Oh, no," she said quickly, "They've always told me that they'd be proud of me regardless of what I did and how good I was at it. They always said that so long as I had a passion for it, they would see me through it all the way. I chose this path for myself, and I don't feel like my mom or my dad pressured me into it. If they're going to pressure me about anything, it's to not lose hope and to keep trying." Bunny nodded to herself when she was done. That sounded like something her parents would say.
She began to laugh as Avery decided that he'll cheer her on during contests despite possibly competing against each other. "Thank you, I appreciate the support," she said, politely covering her mouth from her giggles. "What type of contests are you most interested in? I'm more of a Cute and Beautiful Coordinator myself, but there's still Tough, Cool, and Clever contests to choose from!" If they weren't going to compete in the same type of contest, then it was very likely that Bunny would be able to see Avery and cheer him on regardless. They wouldn't be pitted against each other that way. But otherwise, she wasn't going to go easy on him!
Bunny became lost in though in the idea of meeting and befriending the great Xerneas, a huge deer-like pokémon with ginormous antlers. She had heard stories about it and seen drawings, but to think of seeing the actual thing! It would be amazing. She wondered if she was even worthy enough to meet it, since Xerneas represented life. It would definitely be amazing, though. And meeting any other legendary too, of course! She had studied all of them online in one of her classes, so she was fairly aware. "You mean like Reshiram or Zekrom?" Bunny giggled as Diana began to slither into Avery's arms, still slightly spooked but recovering well. "What about Kyurem, the most elusive of the three?" She waggled her eyebrows, hoping she wasn't flubbing any of the names as it had been a while since she had finished that class. But it was one of her favorites, so she remembered fairly well. The Dratini squealed happily in Avery's arm, squirming in excitement.
Bunny grinned as Avery finally decided on a name, petting the Staryu as it vibrated in excitement. "Ruby is a wonderful name for a wonderful pokémon!"
