ALL I WANNA SEE IS A SKY FULL OF LIGHTERS

TODAY WAS THE DAY SHE had promised to put everything behind her. She needed a fresh start, and this was the perfect time to be getting to that fresh start. With a new mind, new energy and new vigor. She was ready and as ready as she'd ever be. Today was the say she would head out on a pokemon journey and amount to something great. One day, she'd look back on this day as the day it all began. So it was obvious why she was trying to make this day as perfect and as beautiful as possible.
As someone who lived and breathed in kind sentiments and little romances like daisy chains and candlelight, Mikayla loved more than anything that the petals of the sakura trees were starting to fall out and that sprin was springing like anything. It was a good sign. Her starting pokemon, an Oshawott, had found its way to be lifted up and held against her chest like a doll.
She began walking forth, making sure each step was vivid and perfect, trying her hardest to make this day what it should live up to be. Her Oshawott chirped with excitement and the Blackthorne heiress wondered idly what to name him.
Harper stared off into the pathway, leaning forward slightly as she blinked, trying to see past the vast route and onto the next town. Knowing it was impossible, she took her first few steps away from Littleroot and carried on her way towards Oldale. The townspeople of Littleroot had been understanding of her predicament, and although they were iffy to help her at first, she had left with a bag full of maps, books, and even a starter pokemon.
The small eevee trotted along side of her happily, sniffing through the trees and flower, excited to get started on her own adventure. Harper let out a small sigh, staring off ahead as her mind wandered even farther past the world, and into the clouds, even the stars. She daydreamed a lot like this. There was only so much silence your own body could take before you had to escape somewhere else. The biggest difference about silence and solitude was the overwhelming loneliness that silence came with if you didn't have someone to accompany you once and a while.
After a few minutes of walking, she happened upon another girl with hair as black as her own, and she smiled pleasantly, waving to her before trying to move past. Her Eevee - Eva as she had so eloquently named her - stopped to sniff around at the girls feet, and eventually stare up at her and her Oshawott.
Harper quickly brought out her phone and typed a message, holding it out to the other girl. "Sorry, Eva is new to Hoenn, she's just curious. Is she bothering you?" The message said. Harper offered a weak smile to the girl.

SEEING ANOTHER PERSON was always a good thing, and despite her inconsistencies with maintaining relationships, Mikayla was always on the look out for people she could meet and talk to. There was nothin better than Pokemon, but people came a close second. Sometimes they were a bit low class and those kids always interested her the most! Being sheltered had its advantages and disadvantages, she supposed. The wave coming from the ebony haired girl was quickly reflected by Mika’s own greeting, and the girl watched out of the corner of her eyes as the other girl passed by, subconsciously judging her and making assumptions. Her thinking was halted by a sudden sniffing at her feet and all thoughts were abandoned in favor of the creature. She knelt down as faintly as she could ad began steadily petting it, letting go of her Oshawott in the process. The sea otter Pokemon waddles over to the Eevee as Mikayla began her chorus of greetings fo pokemon.
"Ciao! How are you little girlie? Oh my god your coat is so beautiful, aren't you the prettiest? Yes you are, you are!"
She looked up an blankly stared at the note, almost too-plainly seeing that the person apparently had some disability. She couldn't mask that instant of recognition an instead smile to make up for it. "Is she yours? Don't worry about it!" She continued kneeling to pet the Eevee before eventually standing up and dusting herself off.
"She’s beautiful," she whispered, as if afraid to break some kind of silence.
Harper smiled politely and raised her eyebrows as the other girl talked to her eevee, smiling more as she complimented her on her coat and how beautiful she was. Harper knelt down beside her and smoothed her fingers over Eve's coat, eyes crinkling at the edges. She was happy that someone was impressed with her very first pokemon. After coming from the Orange Islands, Harper hadn't made very many friends.
She briefly thought about men bringing their dog pokemon to the park to attract girls, and laughed silently to herself about the connection. Eve was a chick magnet, apparently. Harper would have to take note of this in case she met any men with eevee's or evolutions of the small pokemon.
Pulling her phone back close to herself, she smiled as she typed, click-clacking to herself, before holding the phone out again. "Thank you very much! She's my pride and joy. By the way, you don't have to whisper."Harper laughed as the girls eyes skimmed over the last part, before retracting the phone and typing in more.
"My name is Harper. How are you?" Harper pushed the phone back and wiggled it. She was a fast typer, that was for sure. It would have been impressive if it were a natural ability, but she had to teach herself to type fast, or people lost interest in the conversation altogether.

MIKAYLA COULD BE tactful and subtle when she knew she needed to, but she was often ignorant of the right moments and right situation in which to use we ability, and often came off as a rich and prideful brat. The obviously masked confusion and pity for the girl who was typing instead of talking showed on her face like a flashing light. She made a little 'eh' as she read the last bit, which made the girl laugh.
Mikayla stood up and flushed a bit at a stranger laughing a her, and crossed her arms over her chest an looked away. Abashed, but refusing to let up. The name Harper made her smile- it was a name she’d heard often in higher society and had a lot of traits associated with it.
She gave the Eevee one final smile before trying to respond to Harper, ring obviously slow as she spoke, as though the girl in front of her could not understand even though she typed pretty fast. "I’m Mikayla Blackthorne." Introducing herself with her last name made her feel a little better most of the time. "Ah, I'm doing pretty fine, I suppose. Heading to the route for the start of a journey!" She gestured, as though it wasn't obvious enough.
Meanwhile the Oshawott came forward and waved at the Eevee, waddling a little bit. The Pokemon seemed very shy, and quickly hid around behind Mikayla’s leg.
Harperraised her eyebrows at the girl who talked to her slowly, before chuckling silently at the way she spoke. Did the girl think she was deaf? Harper nodded to her words, leaning forward as if she was clinging onto the sentence with anticipation. When she was finished, Harper nodded once more and smiled at her, before typing on her phone again.
"Harper Pruitt. Nice to meet you. Are you having a good journey so far?" She motioned out to the vast path ahead before grinning and typing once more. "I just arrived from the Orange Islands." She shrugged her shoulders. Knowing this girl, she would probably know of Pruitt industries, and how they had gone bankrupt and lost everything. Knowing about Harper, however, was the rarest thing of all. Her parents never invited her on press conferences, and barely spoke to her when they were home - the little time that they were home, anyway.
Sighing at the thought, she tried to shake her head free of the memories, and continued to smile at the other girl. She would right her parents wrongs eventually, and rebuild the Pruitt empire the right way.
Someday.

MIKAYLA SILENTLY FROWNED-- what had she done this time to make the girl giggle like that? She was confident she had done everything right, and now dealing with the proper etiquette for a disabled girl was slowly becoming more than she could handle. But she was stubborn and refused to walk away from her, determined to have them both laugh about something that wasn't either of them. Or at least, that wasn't Mikayla.
Her eyes quickly changed from solemn lines to bright, bluish orbs of interest at the mention of the girl's name. Harper did not matter (the first name seldom did, unless you were talking extraordinarily famous, here). Instead Mikayla's trained ears focused in on the last name, and the raven haired girl found herself in sudden silence unlike the one Harper was so used to. She did not remember much about them except that crises had befallen them and soon after, bankruptcy. Mikayla gave her a sympathizing look and struggled to concentrate on the rest of the conversation.
"Yeah, I suppose so, although I've hardly begun, ahaha." The laughter that followed was awkward, and not the kind you'd expect from a good mannered party host.
"Ah," she said, trying to pick up the shambles of their conversation. "The orange islands? I heard they're beautiful. What made you want to journey out to Hoenn?"
Her eyes went to the route and she began walking, obvious expecting Harper to come along with her- such was merely a prerequisite for a friend of Mikayla. Understanding as much, the Oshawott tagged along, giving cautious looks back at Harper and her Eevee.

Harper noticed the look of sympathy that crossed Mikayla's face and blushed a bit. Obviously her name was well-known enough that people recognized it for what it was worth - Absolutely nothing, anymore.
Harper, however, decided long ago that she was more than just her name. Her parents mistakes wouldn't become her own, and when she had the company back, she would make sure that they weren't involved in it. She didn't need them bringing their shady business into her own world anymore.
Shaking herself free from her thoughts, she finally started to tag along behind Mikayla, typing away on her cell phone until she had a full message ready for Mikayla to read.
"Oh, I left because I thought it would be better for me to get out on my own and experience life." The message started off simple enough; why bother telling people she had no home to really return to? "Now that I'm here, I'd really like to stay. Everyone is really friendly. It's nice not to have to worry about being misled or something, here!" Harper gave a grin after she saw Mikayla's eyes scan over that part, before giving a little thumbs up.
"What brought you to Hoenn?"
