Out in the pokemon infested routes beyond the city limits of Rustboro, Sylvester had been scouring the area for wild pokemon. He was finally blessed with fair weather, meaning the pokemon would not be hiding due to rain, or the scorching heat of the sun. Instead the pokemon would be out and about, playing with each other, if not searching for berries and other sources of food.
Meanwhile, Sylvester had his own agenda. To train his pokemon via battle, or if he found an interesting pokemon—to do his best to try and catch it. While he had assembled a fair team already, there was still plenty of work for Sylvester to do. Which is exactly why he was out here now, walking through the high grass and trying to run into pokemon. In the distance he could see a relatively large lake, moving towards it in hopes of seeing an abundance of water pokemon that were ripe for their capture.
there were a few pokemon in the lake swimming about just minding their own business. electrike ran out from a bush and stopped in front of the lake, facing the approaching trainer. this was her lake! and she'll protect it from trainers. static surrounded her body as she prepared for a battle.

Watching a pokemon opposing his path onward towards the lake, the electric discharge it was giving off around it made the typing of this pokemon more than obvious. 'Well, well, well. An electric pokemon it is.' Reaching in and retrieving his pokeball, Sylvester made haste to lob it so his Shroomish could take to the field. "Daisy, open up with a leech seed!"
Before the pokemon could even enjoy the liberty of being free from the confines of its pokeball, his Shroomish began spewing kernels so that they would shower over the pokemon. "Follow that up with your absorb!" Flashing his pokedex for a moment, his observations were confirmed—before him was and electric type pokemon, known as an "Electrike". 'I need this pokemon on my team...'

she let both attacks hit him. the absorb did its damage but at least the shroomish didn't heal up any of its health. electrike sent out a jolt of lighting before following it up with a body tackle.

"Come on Daisy, get up!" However, the pokemon was stunned and lying on it's backside. Given free reign, the Electrike's move hit the Shroomish directly—invoking a multitude of spores to spew out and onto the Electrike. Fortunately, the other thing going in Sylvester's favor was that the leech seeds were already smothering the Electrike. Before long they would both take their toll on the pokemon.
"Keep trying to move, Daisy. I know you can break free." A reassuring sentiment for his pokemon while Sylvester stared down at the Electrike with plenty of greed about his eyes. 'I will have this pokemon.' And so the battle continued...
Effect Spore - Lv.10 - Mildly Injured Shroomish is paralyzed! Shroomish is hit by Quick Attack! (Effect Spore?)
woops! once the electrike made contact with the shroomish she immediately felt sleepy. she limped around for a bit before finally hitting the ground. she fell asleep!

"Alright Daisy, nows our chance." Sylvester said as he pulled the full heal from within his backpack and applied it to the Shroomish. "The Electrike's asleep, just hit it with your absorb until they faint." With his pokemon taking a stand on it's own accord, the emerald hue emanated from Daisy as the attacks took place. Even the leech seed may have still been in-effect to help weaken the Electrike for capture. Sylvester desperately hoped this would be the case, as he hadn't many pokeballs for use.

"Great job, Daisy." Moving to his pokemon and patting it's head, she seemed grateful for the allotted affection. Returning her back to the pokeball, Sylvester lobbed one of his last two spares at the downed Electrike. 'Good. I finally have an electric type pokemon on my team.'
Now that he had his new Electrike in the pokeball, Sylvester continued his way towards the small aquatic body, gazing across to see what kind of interesting water type pokemon were there...

'What the...?' It appeared that a rogue Magikarp splashed up out from the water, flailing it's body about in front of Sylvester. "Poor guy...I don't wanna attack something that's already suffering like that." The pokemon was gasping for air. But what if his pokeball failed, and then he had no more left to even attempt another cpature on the pokemon? He had to make sure his efforts weren't wasted...
"Alrighty Marley, take this guy out before he gets away. Start with a tackle." As he released his first ever pokemon, the soft coat of white and pink appeared on the field, dashing right towards the thrashing fish. "Hit it once more after that!" With his Sylveon taking swift action, it reassured Sylvester that this Magikarp was as good as his.

"Great job, Marley." The Sylveon now came over to his trainer's side, petted and scratched behind the ears for their good work. Even though Sylvester could use a water type, the idea of having the same pokemon Fidel did bothered him—not to mention how useless it was in battle against his Shroomish, arguably one of his weakest pokemon. Capturing the Magikarp wasn't for him.
Instead, Sylvester pressed on towards the lake after placing Marley back into his pokeball. Strolling around the water's edge, he peered into the shallow depths for pokemon, as well as keepign an eye out for the high grass surrounding the lake, trying to hide these pokemon's sanctuary. 'I will find something interesting before long...I just know it.'
the krabby lurked beneath the water as the trainer peered over the edge. suddenly a claw burst out of the water and tried to claw away at the trainer's leg!

'What the..?!' From out of the water, Sylvester jerked at the movement of an orange claw reaching out for his leg aggressively. Jumping back a ways, he managed to avoid it's short reach, throwing a pokeball out before him to do battle with the wild crab-like pokemon. Giving it a quick scan, he was glad his choice pokemon—Daisy the Shroomish, would be effective against it.
"Daisy, shower him with leech seed." Before long he slipped his pokedex back into the contents of his coat, commanding his pokemon to battle further. "Follow it up with an absorb, and don't let him get away." This Krabby had done it. Sylvester didn't like pokemon that tried to hurt humans like that. Maybe his pokemon, sure, but reaching out at him like that? This thing was going to experience a premature burial.
