So two things had happened in the span of going between Petalburg and Rustburo and back again, and that was his Cyndaquil finally hatching and reviving the old amber he had gotten. Currently he was trying to fit a saddle and reigns on the recently revived Aerodactyl, and it was giving him a world of problems. The baby on the other hand was busy playing with its wings, which only made this more of a tedious task than it needed to be.
What surprised him was how much cheaper it was to revive the dinosaur than to buy a saddle for it, granted it was designed more to fit a Charizard but he had to adapt. Even more-so was that it seemed to be almost as young as Cyndaquil, if only a bit older. That would make… He probably thought Sam was his father. “Shh Shiggity, it won’t take much longer. Just relax.” Sam cooed at the creature, which gave a swipe of his tail and a playful growl of protest. It was like a puppy, and he didn’t know if that was odd or not. He never raised a dinosaur before.
There was a final snap and everything was seated in place. Aerodactyl instantly stopped flailing and returned to grumbling and clawing at the leather. It wasn’t enough to break it, it was designed to hold a Charizard after all, but still… “Stop that. You’re going to make it worse.” He scolded, giving the dino a pat on the head. There was puppy eyes that followed suit, and a small whine. Cyndaquil gave a chuckle and rolled over onto his back, returning to patting the wings.
“Oh you can just shut it, Singe.” The Cyndaquil gave another chuckle-like sound and spurted out smoke from his mouth in a challenge. He was certainly not what one would expect a Cyndaquil to act like.

[attr="class","fancy"]Do you feel the chill,
Clawing at the back of your neck? And start to spill. Did you really think that you could fix me? We'll sell your bones for another roll, We'll sharpen your teeth, Tell yourself that it's just business.
Kohaku huffed in light laughter as Scheherazade kept stopping and looking down in wonder each time her hooves came down on the ground to make a sharp sound. He couldn’t help but watch at how fascinated she was with the way her hooves sounded against this ground. However, after a little while he clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth softly to call her to him and after a flick of her ears in his direction the Ponyta approached. Bumping her head affectionately against his chest and nibbling at the ends of his hair while she snuffled about his clothing looking for treats that he usually carried for her. However, instead of giving them to her immediately like he usually would he chuckled and pushed her head away from him. “Not yet you silly girl. We have to do a bit of scouting first, especially since I need to find us somewhere to stay for a bit.” The journey to Petalburg had been a bit draining since he’d gotten a bit stuck on Routes 102 and 103 considering he’d had to do a few favors for Birch as well as being distracted by other trainers.
However, it hadn’t taken him long to finally make his way to petalburg once he got over all of his distractions. Now finally having arrived only an hour ago, he was eager to scope out the area and see what the place had in store for him, especially considering there was a gym to check out. He still had need of a few pokemon and getting them powered up but he had faith in his skills even if he was new to this whole pokemon training thing.
The young filly huffed at him but obeyed, backing off a bit and gazing curiously around her as Kohaku tried to decide which was to take first. He gave the ponyta and considering look before he murmured thoughtfully, “I suppose we ought to buy you a few things for training and our upcoming gym battle, huh?” The ponyta nickered her agreement, butting her head against his shoulder and coaxing his hand to stroke her nose right where she had an itch. He chuckled shaking his head at her as he scratched at it gently as he murmured in amusement, “You’re just a cheeky thing today.” She let out another soft nicker before he took his hand back and he gestured for her to follow, finally picking a direction. They wandered aimlessly for a while before something caught Ko’s attention…or rather someone.
A voice he vaguely recognized caused him to pause in his steps and turn just in time to see a familiar head of brown hair and fuchsia eyes widened. First Cain and now…"Samuel??” The name was soft but loud enough to be heard before a slight grin curled Kohaku’s lips and his eyes lit up happily. “Uso! Sam is that you?!” Apparently he was going to be running into a lot of his old friend from high school…particularly his old groupmates. Scheherazade blinked at her trainer for a moment, taken off guard before following a little behind and watching the encounter curiously.
For Sam this was an unexpected occurrence, when he heard a familiar voice call out his name he froze shock. Not many people called him “Samuel” specifically, but then what came next gave him a better idea of who it was, and a smile plastered across his face. When he turned around, he gave a questioning glance, wondering how the other had been in Hoenn and somehow didn’t stay in contact.
“Kohaku? Please tell me I’m not hallucinating.” He spoke, words matching with curious glances. This was then broken after, officially shaking off the shock of seeing an old friend. “Yeah its me, its so nice to see you again! How long have you been in Hoenn? I’ve lived here for a while and I haven’t seen hide nor hair of you!” As he said that, the smile that had made its way back onto his face settled into a slight frown, his eyebrows furrowing in thought. “Well, nevermind. Hoenn isn’t that small compared to Johto.” He gave a chuckle and a shrug, instantly moving his eyes from Kohaku and towards the horse trailing him.
“Your Ponyta is cute.” He said with a small nod, and the freshly hatched Cyndaquil stopped what he was doing to give his trainer a nasty glare. It seemed to have learned a thing or two from Wisp, being jealous about his trainer taking interest in another pokemon. “Cy-Cyndaquil!” It called out and scurried to his trainer, asking to be picked up. With an eye roll, the male bent down to pick the baby fire-shrew up and groaned. “Yeah Singe, you’re cute too.”
Sorry if this sounds disjointed at all, I had to re-write it three times because everything sounded weird or awkward. Agh, I swear I didn't have writers block this morning.

[attr="class","fancy"]Do you feel the chill,
Clawing at the back of your neck? And start to spill. Did you really think that you could fix me? We'll sell your bones for another roll, We'll sharpen your teeth, Tell yourself that it's just business.
A loud carefree laugh burst from the petite male upon hearing the first sentence out of Sam’s mouth, enjoying his surprise just as much as he enjoyed the look on his face. Fuchsia eyes danced with mirth as he grinned at his friend, unable to resist the fast pace he walked with before reaching out to pull Samuel into a hug. He’d always been the slightly more touchy feely of their friends when it came to showing affection so long as it was friendly affection. “So…does this feel like a hallucination to you?” There was amusement in his tone as he spoke, thrumming along his lilting accent that was no doubt not as heavy as it had been when they were still in High School. Samuel had always been second to Cain when they’d been younger, the other boy having been Kohaku’s shoulder to lean on and ears to listen to his complaints and fears. Their relationship had been simple and easy…
Gods he had missed the other brunette and not even realized it.
He took a few steps back to examine the other, his gaze traveling over him and taking in how much he’d grown. He huffed lightly at noticing that…well…Samuel was taller. Like most of everyone was taller than his petite and willowy frame but really someone younger shouldn’t be allowed to be so tall. The familiar irritation brought a slight quirk to his lips again as he murmured, “Really, are you ever going to stop growing?? It’s bad enough my Kouhai was taller than me in High School.” The foreign word slipped out unthinkingly, just as it had when they were younger and some of the members had found out that yes, Kohaku was actually older than them and a year ahead. It had only been partially amusing back then but he could find the humor in it now…mostly.
Ko listened to Sam’s chatter and bit his lip, unable to completely fight off the grin that wanted to curl his lips. Slowly, chuckles rose and he had to cover his mouth even as they spilled over before he finally got himself under control again. “I see you’ve not changed much either. Still as adorable as always.” The tease was a familiar one, rolling off his lips and tongue without a thought and warming him. He brushed a lock of Fuchsia hair behind his ear distractedly before focusing completely on the young man in front of him, eyes shining with unchecked amusement as he spoke easily. “I’ve only been here a few weeks. I…” He paused, trailing off and hesitating…he still wasn’t sure whether or not to tell anyone about the letter he’d received that prompted this trip. So instead he continued on saying, “...I needed a change of scenery and mother wanted me to go on an adventure instead of taking care of her.”
The petite male put his fisted hands on his hips and looked up at the other male, an half amused/ half-stern expression on his face as he asked imperiously. “And you? What were you thinking just disappearing without saying goodbye or anything? You and Cain, I swear! The both of you are going to be the death of me one day.” There was only a slight twinge of pain in his chest at those words…had everyone left him behind? How many more people were here and simply never said anything, not even goodbye?
At his words about his Ponyta, Kohaku blinked before suddenly she butted her head against his shoulder blade. Annoyed she hadn’t been introduced yet and curious about this second young man her human seemed to know. Kohaku chuckled and rolled his eyes at the female, stroking down her snout and earning and pleased nicker for it before he said, “Thank’s this is Scheherazade. Zadie this is an old friend, Sam.” She let out a happy whinny towards the other young man before her eyes fell on the fire pokemon that seemed to be jealous of something. Her ears flicked forward as she listened to them speak and Kohaku finally taking noticed looked forward. He blinked before a large smile curled his lips and he laughed, “No way! You have a cyndaquil as well??” Kohaku, admittedly had only recently gotten Engel, but the bashful little thing had a lot of spunk and he’d learned to love Engel.
