This is going to be a really sloppy suggestion because it's not something that I think requires much attention or discussion. But I think providing incentive for Staff to do a little bit of work now and again wouldn't be a bad thing.
Before we jump to conclusions, I'm not suggesting they don't do their job enough. But I am suggesting it's done in bursts of grading sprees, and mostly because we guilt them into it, at least that's how it feels. I think there's something we could do to keep them from feeling they have to do it out of guilt.
If a Staff member got 1 PD for every participant in a thread they graded, that would be a very modest reward I think. It wouldn't break the system and make them ridiculously rich, either. However it would create a problem if someone hogged all the grading and work that needed to be done to generate income for themselves.
The only thing required to fix that would be a weekly cap on maximum earnings. It could be around 20 PD I think, maybe more or less depending on the volume of threads needing graded and so on. That way they can work towards a sort of quota, without breaking the mold for PD earning.
I've seen other sites adopt a Staff Work Incentive, with varied results due to the varied rewards. When they're too rewarding, Staff gets too rich and dominates the site almost freakishly. When it's too low, the problem is it doesn't work as a true incentive because they don't feel that compelled to get the reward for their work. They just keep to their usual pace and disregard the incentive for the most part.
Hopefully this doesn't shock some people; I think Staff should be awarded with a few incentives for the good work they've done. This idea could even stretch into Wild Modding, though I think that would be better off strictly limited to 1 PD per thread. It would still help a little bit, I'm sure they wouldn't complain. Won't surprise me if nobody likes this idea though, I can see why it scares them. xD Thanks for reading, feel free to comment and discuss the pros/cons below.
