this is a warning to the people to the good and to the evil: this is war
The gala had ended. And Julius was sad he didn't get to see all the maddening aftermath of his own mind, of his own actions. No. He didn't get to see the ripple he had created, and it was tearing him apart. But he did have this- and he held it out in his hand, staring at it, daring to open it with his eyes alone.
A black briefcase rested on the table, without mark or denotation, but value beyond measure. Not just because it contained something of Magma's, no. But because it was somehow symbolic. He couldn't open it no. Because it wasn't him alone. It was Andrea. And that was where the other half of the boiling, squirming anxiety resided. Was she, or was she not okay?
She was late. Late. But what was late? They didn't have a specific time, but he couldn't really handle himself right now. Did she get hurt, did magma retaliate, did the rangers arrive? Did they get found out? Was she captured, was the building in flames? He did not know. And he couldn't get out of the warehouse, not now, not when anyone could be looking for him.
He had to wait, and trust in Andrea. Because that was what this was about- trust. Julius stood up, forsaking one of the only two metal chairs in the little hideout, and began pacing. Each second that ticked off annoyed him more than anything. After ages of pacing, he stopped, and fell onto the chair.
He pulled out his phone, the device being the only thing that lit up the place other than the occasional strikes of lightning. The news was flooded with reports of the gala, of magma and aqua, and of a gyarados? He didn't know. He was too afraid to check, what if Andrea was dead? No. She couldn't.
Waiting, waiting, yes. That was what was killing him. Just how long could she take? He'd have to shout at her when she came back he was--- ugh. He put the phone aside, letting the room go dark once more.

andrea was out of breath by the time she had arrived.
"shit. what a fuckin' night," she gasped.
leaning heavily against the building where they would meet, she ran a hand through her hair, the mane of black appearing messy. she sniffled a bit, rubbing at her eyes before making a rushed attempt to fix herself up for julius. her eyes were red, and some of her makeup was smudged. this, coupled by her tired and bedraggled look didn't help at all. so the coordinator simply gave up, took a deep breath, and entered the seemingly abandoned establishment.
"yo," she breathed.
a surge of relief hit her as soon as she located him. he appeared somewhat nervous, his face hidden at first by shadows - but his handsome features becoming all-too clear as a flash of lightning lit up the interior of their hideout.
"julius..."
a shaky smile formed. her gaze shifted toward the suitcase that awaited them.
"we did it. this is it. we got away with it," she muttered.
pursing her lips, she took a moment to relish this bittersweet victory.

this is a warning to the people to the good and to the evil: this is war
By the time Andrea had arrived, Julius's look had gone from anxious to freaking worried. But the second he heard someone step forward, his eyes lit up in a surge of happiness and reflief, and he had suddenly forgotten what he was so worried about. Of course Andrea had come- of course she would have. Why did he ever doubt it in the first place?
It all seemed so distant now, the gala, the suitcase, the fight in the hallway. He ran towards her, encouraged by her breathing out his name, and just as happy as she was. The second he was close enough his hands wrapped themselves around her, hugging her. It was tight at first, but then he let go, slowly, steadily, hands going from her torso up to her shoulders. She was short, and her hair was wet from all the rain, and she looked tired.
"Yeah," he said, and it was like letting go of a breath he didn't know he had been holding. "Yeah, we did!" he said, a little more happily, and suddenly he was smiling, as if Andrea saying it made him believe it. They did get away with it; with smacking magma across the face and taking this from them.
He let her relish her victory, and both of them stared at the suitcase, taking a minute to rejoice. But he looked back at Andrea as soon as he was done, wathcing her as she watched the suitcase, taking in the red eyes and the messed up hair. "Hey," he said, giving her a concerned look. "You okay? They didn't do anything, right? What happened? Magma freaked out? The rangers come?" He was all questions now, although granted the biggest question was sitting on the table, enclosed in a black suitcase.
julius's concern was, in all honesty, refreshing. it offered her a rare form of relief, with something deep within fluttering with joy as she listened to his tone and noticed his somewhat creased features. she had accepted his embrace, and resisted the urge to bury her face into his warmth and just stay there. her gaze darted from him to the suitcase, her smile completely gone.
"sorry," she muttered.
after taking several calming breaths, she continued.
"it didn't... end well. i'll tell ya later, okay? i just don't feel like talking about it," she explained.
once all was said and done she approached their prize, wanting nothing more than to see what it contained. andrea had, in all honesty, expected some sort of elaborate lock or mechanism that would prevent them from acquiring their prize with ease. but there was none present to get in their way.
"let's pop this sucker open," she said. "and then let's get the fuck outta here. whatever it is better have been worth it."
her fingers moved, and the coordinator absently noting that it looked more like a briefcase - something meant to hold items of value. several clicks sounded, piercing through the silence.
"..."
andrea retreated a step once she had opened the casing and revealed its contents, her hand covering her mouth.

She snapped at him, and he felt a little shocked at it- but he supposed he should have been expecting it. The curt response was something that simply would have come from Andrea, and he allowed a smile at his own expense. "Yeah, 'course." His eyes then softed, unsure of what to make of the new information.
Yes, of course it didn't end that well- but something about Andrea's look told him it was serious. He tried to force his concern into humor, and Julius called after her. "Talk about leaving me in suspense," he said, but he followed after her, his eyes on the same prize that hers were fixed upon.
"But I guess this holds the most of it, huh?" he asked, referring to the suspense he mentioned before. He ran a finger over the surface of the case, and pulled away just in time for Andrea pop it open. He was grinning right until it opened. Whoa. He didn't step backwards, but the astonishment filling his green eyes was enough to tell its own story.
But the excitement, the shock, morphed into a sort of dangerous smirk. It was enough, wasn't it? To start what he wanted-what he had envisioned. He took the briefcase in hand holding the sides, almost too afraid to touch the cash inside of it. He held it out, hands outstretched and shaking with joy.
He didn't know what to say, but finally he managed to laugh, gleeful and somehow oblivious, as well. Finally, at the end of his maniacal laughter he said, "Looks like Magma's gonna need to rethink their future plans."
Don't mess with Hoenn; don't you dare. Carissa loved this place. And so do I.

she wrapped her arms around him from behind, happily burying her face into the warmth of his back. the coordinator's shoulder shook, a small giggle spilling from her chapped lips.
"we did it..."
those were the words she breathed. an addicting sensation began to crawl throughout her form - an odd thrill originating from an unknown source that caused her to shiver.
"we did it."
andrea felt a renewed surge of trust for this man. she had willingly gone along with his plan, and the decision had resulted in absolute success. they had gained quite a few riches. she released a pleased sigh and released him before eying their shared bounty. she wet her lips with her tongue before moving to press a kiss gingerly to his cheek. it was remarkably chaste, but the genuine warmth of her affection was confirmed through the simple action.
"... let's go home. 'kay?"
she moved to secure his larger hand into her smaller one, intending for their fingers to interlock. her cerulean gaze peered up him, her features scrunching up cutely as she smiled.
