she had just awoken from a nap, her body somewhat stiff due to the girl having taken a nap on the ground. the grass had caused her exposed flesh to itch, but, andrea still felt quite refreshed. the weather was good, the gentle breeze relaxing, and her mood quite pleasant.
"it's kinda pretty today, yeah?" she said.
she was by herself, mostly. her pokemon were tucked away within their respective capsules as their mistress lazed the day away.
"this is what i call freedom. out on my own. with no one ta tell me what ta do or tell me how ta do it."
the coordinator remained on the grass, a content smile on her face as she proceeded to roll and hum in delight. she eventually came to a halt
"ya know what? i feel like a battle."
andrea nodded.
"yeah. sounds like a plan!"
she stood, cleaned off her dark skirt and top before re-approaching the homely town of littleroot. andrea searched for anyone who looked like a trainer, coordinator, or even a ranger. at the end of the day, it didn't really matter.
"yo! wanna battle?"

Sigma had in the end returned to Littleroot Town, as he had forgotten his back bag in the prof. Birch's lab. It was a bit awkward to return to get it, but he did get his white back bag and was now honestly ready to head to Oldale.
This really wasn't Sigma's day though. Just mistakes after mistakes. Oh well. Maybe luck will turn today for the better. Sigma brightened up his own thoughts and clenched his fists, getting a bit pumped up.
He remained in his thoughts a bit more, as he could hear some steps get closer to Sigma and he turned to look at the source. It was girl, most likely around Sigma's age and... was she wearing a black school girl uniform? "..." Sigma stared at a bit, but then flinched as the girl spoke up.
She asked if Sigma wanted to fight. Even though he didn't have any experience in them, you had to start from somewhere, the young man decided to accept the challenge. Even if the trainer might have pokemon a lot stronger than Sigma's Torchic, the loss won't be an useless one. You can learn from those also. "Sure. Is right here good enough or do you want to look for some place better?" he replied with a proud smile, digging up his pokeball from his jacket's pocket to be ready.

So this location was good, eh? That's good. Didn't have to waist time on searching for a better location. In a way it was a big relief, because Sigma did want to still get to Oldale today and not spend a night outside.
The girl started taking a distance from Sigma, so he walked to the opposite direction to get the necessary distance. Sigma listened to the girl's steps and as he could hear her stop, Sigma turned around. "Fenghuang!" he called out, releasing a orange colored chick pokemon. As the Torchic did appear, it responded to Sigma's call with a loud chirp, seeming quite excited.
His seemed to have chosen to battle with a Sneasel. If Sigma remembered correctly, it was an ice&dark type pokemon, which would mean that Sigma was at an advantage. Though he won't think that this is an easy battle. You never know what to expect from an opponent.
Alright time to begin. The girl had given the first move to Sigma and he'll gladly accept the offer. Sneasels were well known for their speed and power, so it was better to try to weaken it's attack power and try to keep a distance. "Fenghuang! First use Growl and afterwords Ember!" Sigma commanded, with his hand raised towards the opponent's Sneasel..
The Torchic made a quick not and took a sturdy stance, then made a loud chirp towards the Sneasel and the air slightly distorted as the sound headed towards it. And right after that, the chick pokemon breathed in, with it's chest puffing out and blew the air, with small bolts of fire flying along it towards the Sneasel.

frost eyed her selected foe, a wary look creasing her sharp features as the fire-type made its appearance. andrea remained undeterred, patiently awaiting for the trainer to make his move. and he did, the torchic releasing a growl and leaving the ice-type wincing as she reacted to the pitched noise that slammed against her eardrums.
"sneas..."
the ember followed.
"dodge, girl!"
wielding her natural grace, the sneasel leaped away from the collect of hot embers that escaped the gaping beak. as she moved to avoid and dodge molten bits, frost maintained an air of grace and style as she executed each precise motion.
"sneasel! sneas!"
"dark pulse!"
a beam of purple circles that pulsated with a foul energy was conjured by the slim creature, her mouth opening wide to release the attack.
"again," andrea called.
the dark-type gladly obeyed, eyes gleaming with delight as she released another.
inner focus - - lv.5 - - 100% - 1 attack scratch - - leer - - taunt - - ice beam - - dark pulse frost was hit by growl! frost's attack was lowered! frost dodged ember! frost used dark pulse! frost used dark pulse!
Sigma himself remained calm both when the growl had hit the Sneasel and when it dodged the Torchic's Ember with ease. Fenghuang though seemed excited as the Growl had hit, but soon got slightly frustrated as it's other attack was dodged. You could even hear something similar to a "hmph" from Fenghuang, though it still was a chirp.
Now was the Sneasel's turn to attack as it's trainer had commanded it to strike with the move Dark Pulse, followed by a beam formed by dark purple rings. Before the Torchic could even act, it was hit by the beam and pushed back a couple of feets by the force of the attack, though it was able to keep it's footing and not end up flying. Though it was obvious that the hit had taken it's toll. It was obvious to Sigma the Fenghuang couldn't take that many more of those attacks.
Now a second blast of Dark Pulse was flying towards, following the command to repeat the same move by the Sneasel's trainer. This time Sigma called out to his pokemon. "Dodge the attack and attack with another Ember!" he yelled and the Torchic acted immediately, stepping away from the beam's way and straight away breathed in some air and blasted a new storm of small fire bolts.
"Strike up with another Ember and this time shake your head a bi while doing so!" Sigma straight away yelled out another command and once again the Torchic blew out another blast with it's Ember move, shaking it's head a bit, causing the small bolts of fire to spread out on a much larger area then normally.

the first ember had been rather predictable. and so the sneasel proceeded to preform her clever maneuvers in order to effectively dodge the direct attack in response. but the one that followed caught both coordinator and pokemon by surprise. a pained screech escaped the petite frost, her face twisting into a grimace as the spray of embers came into contact with her fragile form.
"ya alright, frost?"
"sneas..."
the pokemon was hunched over, a look of discomfort on her face as she forced herself to ignore the pain and focus on her mistress's directions.
"that's my girl," andrea praised.
frost smiled.
"use scratch!"
eager to claw at the tiny pokemon, she lunged forward, a terrible grin on her face as she mercilessly slashed at the fire-type.
"again!"
"sneas!"

Fenghuang was visibly in joy as the spread shot Ember had hit it's mark and caused a huge amount of damage. So much that another hit like that would definetely take the Sneasel down. Sigma was just as excited, but kept a calm manner and spoke up to his pokemon. "Good job. Don't let your guard down yet though, Fenghuang." The Torchic heard this and was now a bit more calm.
The opponent's Sneasel was now running towards Fenghuang with the attempt to use Scratch. It was running at a pretty good speed, so Fenhuang wouldn't be able to use Ember before the Sneasel could attack. "Brace yourself, Fenguang and take the hits!" Sigma told his pokemon and like always the Torchic followed the orders, taking once again a firm stance.
The Sneasel got up to Sigma's Torchic and scratched at Fenghuang, who seemed to be in slight pain, but kept it's stance. Once Sigma saw a chance that Ember could be used he yelled out. "Ember! Now!" The Torchic reaponded quickly to the young man's commanda and breathed in some air, puffing out it's chest and then blowing the same kind of small fire bolts from close range.

despite the delight that had come from striking the opponent - the pain that followed was less than worth it. the ice-type cringed, attempting to block the molten bits that splashed against her cool flesh before she fell. once andrea recognized that her pokemon had fainted, she nodded in acceptance and recalled the creature.
"yer pokemon's lookin' pumped," andrea drawled, praising the fire-type in her own way.
she produced a pokeball with a psychic insignia etched into its surface, a grin on her face as she tossed the capsule into the field.
"hopefully yer up for another challange."
"ink!"
the tiny squid released a feminine cry as she entered, an arrogant expression twisting her cute features as she observed the torchic.
"meet mileena," andrea crooned.
"inkay!"
"now, use tackle. and then follow it up with a dark pulse!"
the pokemon sliced through the air as she lunged toward the fire-type and quickly followed up her attempt at a tackle with a dark pulse.

The Sneasel went down as the Ember had, but that was slemthing that Sigma was expecting either way. "Great job! Keep it up, Fenghuang!" Sigma complimented his pokemon. This was something he was proud of and Fenghuang seemed like so too, puffing it's chest in pride as their opponent trainer had snuck in a complement while calling back her now fainted Sneasel. "Appreciate the compliment. And go ahead. We're ready." Sigma thanked and responded as the opponent called out a new pokemon.
Another Dark type. Though it was half Psychic this time. It was the pokemon called Inkay. Sigma did say tha they were ready, though he honwstly wasn't sure if the could beat this one. Fenghuang was visibly panting from the earlier fight, so a single powerful move was enough to beat him.
Then the Inkay on command went for a Tackle on hit the Torchic hard. It hadn't been ready for the hit, so Fenghuang flew a couple of feet and rolled on the ground, soon standing up. Once it had stood up, the air around the Torchic started to distort from the heat that it's body was eminating. Even it's eyes seemed filled with flames of passion. It was obvious to Sigma that his pokemon's Blaze ability had activated.
The Inkay wasn't going to give time to rest though and continued it's attack with a Dark Pulse. Sigma reacted quickly and had decided to use Blaze to his advantage. "Jump up in the air and use Ember, also shaking your head just like last time!" The Torchic jumped up several feets, dodging the powerful beam of dark rings. It then once again breathed in air and blew out a spreaded storm of bolts of fire, now bigger than they were earlier because of Blaze ability, which strenghtened Fenghuang's Fire-type moves. So a rain of fire was heading towards the foe's Inkay, hopefully being enough to take it down.

"on point!"
once andrea realized that torchic's ability was beginning to cause its power to increase somewhat, she called out to her pokemon to remain alert. the psychic-type obeyed, her gaze focusing upon the fire-type as exhaled and conjured up flame.
"ink!"
a heavy flow of ember came, the attack appearing much more fierce than it had previously. the inkay allowed herself to be struck, a noise of pain escaping her as it came into contact with her body. but, mileena managed to gain just enough focus back to dodge the following spray that would have knocked away a good portion of her remaining health. she did so with an elegant twirl, her round features still revealing the pain she had felt.
"tackle!"
the squid sped toward the fire-type once again, intending to tackle the tiny creature roughly.
"again!"
"inkay!"

Just one more tackle was enough for the Inkay to take Fenghuang down and the chick flew a couple of feet, now unconscious, laid there on the ground. "You did great, Fenghuang. You'll get to rest now." Sigma said to his pokemon in a calm manner, returning the pokemon to it's capsule and putting it back in his jacket's pocket.
Sigma raised his left hand in the air kinda lazily and sighed a little. "It's my loss. Fenghuang was my only pokemon." he admitted his defeat quite nonchalantly.
The young man then proceeded to smile s bit, pondering about the trainer who had challenged him pretty much out of nowhere. It couldn't hurt to get introduced, right? No. It shouldn't at least, so Sigma walked up to the trainer holding his hand for a handshake. "It was a good battle, miss. In the end you came out victorious, but if we meet again, I won't lose." he said to the girl with a very polite tone.

andrea chuckled at the boy's words, satisfied that he remained motivated despite his defeat. she was also fairly impressed that his torchic was willing to bravely face her own team by itself.
"ya got a good pokemon there. ain't that right, mileena?"
her pokemon merely chirped in response before casting the boy a curious look.
"when he evolves, i'm sure she'll be up fer a rematch," the coordinator said.
an idea began to wriggle its way to the surface of her mind, and, after a moment of consideration - the black-haired girl nodded her head.
"ya know... i gotta pancham. she helped me defeat the first gym leader - took down two pokemon all by herself without much trouble. only problem is, i gotta scraggy now. dark-types are my specialty, but, i won't be needin' her as much as i did before. i'll trade ya a pokeball fer her if yer interested."
andrea held up the capsule, the fighting-type insignia etched into its surface.
"also, i don't think i caught yer name... 'mm andrea. andrea warren. coordinator."

Though the compliments were towards Fenghuang, Sigma felt a bit happy about and his smile turned a bit bigger. "Mhm. I'm sure Fenghuang is hungry for a rematch." he replied, chuckling a bit.
Then the girl seemed ro have started to ponder a bit and Sigma looked at her with a raised brow. He wondering what she was thinking and thankfully his curiosity was diminished as the girl spoke up. She offered a pokemon of hers for a pokeball and Sigma looked at her quite surprised by this. It was a generous offer, but he didn't know if she was genuinely offering her Pancham or if it was some kind scheme. No. It couldn't be that. This girl didn't seem like the kind to trick people. At least right now. She just didn't have that kind of vibe, so Sigma decided to trust her. "I'll gladly accept your offer. I have to say the this awfully generous of you. Especially since we just met." he laughed, as he took of his back bag and dug up an empty pokevall from there, handing it over to the girl in exhange for the one the girl was holding.
Then the girl spoke up again, introducing herself abd asking for Sigma's name in a way. "Sigma. Just Sigma. Noobie trainer." he replied to Andrea, lowering his head a bit for a modest bow. This was an usual habit in Sigma's family that had to be dond to everybody they meet, but he had decided to do this only to those he thinks that deserve this polite gesture.
- andrea warren Do you wanna get the 14 post mark for both or end it soon? Both options are fine to me.
she smiled affectionately at the capsule before handing it over.
"thank ya, girl. i'm sure ya'd prefer a trainer over a coordinator with that spirit 'o yers," she whispered.
after accepting the capsule and tucking it into her pack, she returned her attention to the boy. a hint of curiosity caused her eyes to gleam as she finally noticed that his mannerisms were different than what she was accustomed to.
"ya got a real good starter. heard torchic were popular among trainers who could get 'em."
andrea carefully considered what the male had called his little fire-type.
"fenghuang. huh. never heard 'o that kinda name. sounds kinda foreign. where ya from?"
she gestured for the boy to walk by her side as she brushed past him.
"c'mon, let's get that poke of yers healed up at the pokecenter. ya can meet some of my team, too. if yer interested."
"ink!" her pokemon chirped.
plus, she needed to have her recently-acquired egg checked out. just a safety precaution she picked up after hatching multiple ones over a short period of time.
