when she had first heard of the ball being held in slateport she had imagined a night filled with excitement and fun, one where she’d make memories and maybe friends in this new region along with her brother. she thought it’d be a rather perfect opportunity to kick things off, and due to their relatively new arrival to the coastal region a festival event such as this seemed to fall right into place with her hopes. there should have been some doubt that things wouldn’t go as smoothly as planned, but worrying on the possibilities of what may or may not happen had never been here way of living. that was more up noris’ alley really, as mean as that may sound. but the boy did have enough anxiety to share with the entire city of slateport some days so it wasn’t as though she was lying. if she had known what was to happen she would have never been so persistent to hop on the train, dragging her brother behind her to the city -- but from how the masses scattered she didn’t think anyone really knew what would go down.
she had been escorted out of the building rather quickly in a crowd of onlookers who were far too busy trying to catch a glimpse of what was happening than to move in an orderly line. though, she was just the same. she’d seen fleeting seconds as she passed but nothing too amazing and by the time she got back to the place she had rented for the night her mind was elsewhere. she hadn’t been with her brother when she had been taken out of the gala but truthfully she wouldn’t have known even if she had by the sheer number of people around her. her feet her, she remembers that quite well when she had gotten to her room, and having found her brother not answering at his own door she had opted to stay up the rest of the night and wait.
at least that was the plan. her body had slowly fallen into itself, slipping her mind into a dreamless slumber -- only to be awakened by the sound of a knock on the door and warmth of the sun. checkout greeted her in a daze and when asked about the boy she had arrived with the day prior the front desk had given her nothing more than minor shrugs, unanswered questions and a simple ‘checked out’ on this records. maybe -- she thinks -- he was still around the city, wandering about thinking she had left without him though she surely would not; or maybe he had actually made some friends who kept him safe during the events of that night at their own place. she wasn’t sure, worried yes, but only enough to cause her pace to quicken as she made her way through the streets in search for that familiar, awkward boy. surely he was around somewhere -- he wouldn’t have left her there would he? -- and as the minutes ticked by she became a little more frantic with her steps.
