hello calamity! we're nearing the two months mark in a few weeks. how time flies! right now we have two things going on that need your participation. the first is an activity check! it is impotant that you check in so you don't lose your face claim. the second is the otm nomiations! we're doing it a bit different than last time. so please submit your nominations in. a vote thread will be up in the next few days. there will also be a formal event coming very soon, so keep your eye out for that. keep being cool!
we're currently about to host calamity's first contest in slatepor. trainers are flocking to the city to see, the city's been trying to get good pr since the gala, and it seems to be working! they're asking for both coordinators and volunteer judges to sign up.

Jason woke up, not surprisingly, in some tall grass. The surprise came when he realized a few things: First off, he was no where near his home. After checking his phone, which was barely alive, he became aware he was on route one, near Littleroot. He didn't really remember how he got there, but if the pounding headache was any hint, it was probably a drunken adventure. Good thing he had his shades to protect his eyes from the blinding light of the sun. His second realization was that there was a fucking sword next to him, and taking a closer look at it, it was the same sword that once hanged above the main fireplace in their mansion. A family heirloom his father always said. So why was it laying next to Jason in the middle of route fucking one?!
Rolling his shoulders, Jason got up and looked around for any sign of civilization. And by civilization he meant a bar. Or a convenience store. Even one of those sketchy guys who sold flask of mysterious liquids from their large trench coats. Basically any place that had alcohol for sell. The best cure for a hangover was a shot of tequila followed by a nice cheap beer. If you're not sober than you can't have a hangover was his thinking, and so far, it had worked well enough. Besides times like this where he woke up in the middle of no where with no recollection as to how he got there.
The hung over blond had barely take a few steps when he remembered he had almost forgotten the damn sword. He really ought to just leave it out and let it rust. His father would throw one hell of a fit... Shaking his head, not too quickly least he risk loosing whatever his stomach contained, he bent over to pick up the sword when suddenly, out of no where, the blue cloth surrounding the hilt wrapped itself around Jason's right hand and wrist. A voice, feminine and very mature sounding, echoed in his head, "Royde child, you would do best to not consume the amber liquids your kind do." And with that, the cloth went limp and the voice left his head. Stunned, confused, slightly worried, Jason did the thing any hung over person would. He threw up on the side of the road.
zelda finds herself frequenting route 101 often... too often. her pockets jingle with the sound of cash and an assortment of valuables that she's gotten her hands on, a most satisfied smile on her lips.
the night prior had been a wild one. drinks went around, her lipstick got smudged, but she was also plenty richer. there's nothing bad in this scenario, zelda thinks. everything falls into her grand scheme of things. "let's load these into the bag," she calls to her zorua, and the soot furred fox holds the tired knapsack open while she empties her loot in.
"what's that?" she asks, eyes trailing to something moving in the distance. her zorua assumes a wary stance as she slowly sneaks towards the scene. zelda hooks her knapsack over her shoulder and holds it close. to hell if anyone's going to come near her treasure. she comes across jason, hungover and looking like a slob. how pitiful, she thinks, but she scans him for anything that looks valuable to take.
she eyes the fallen sword on the side of the road and laughs in amusement. "that's quite an artefact you've got there," she calls out, her zorua slinked to the side of her foot, giggling with a raspy quality to her voice.
Having hurled whatever he ate the night before, which he still wasn't sure what that was or where he ate, Jason wiped his lips off on his arm. There wasn't much residue but his left arm difeinately felt wetter than it did earlier. He was barely aware that someone else was there until they spoke. He turned around to eye the stranger, female he guessed from the voice, who had just witnessed him throw up. Ah, a blonde girl with a Zorua. Huh. Jason didn't see those things very often, but it was not his main concern. His main concern was figuring out a way to redeem himself after she had, most likely, just watched hurl chunks.
Eyeing the once talking sword, Jason said, pulling leaves and grass out of his hair, "Uh, thanks." He still wasn't completely sure as to what had just happened but he knew one thing for sure: He was too damn hung over for any of this shit. The blond needed alcohol in his system and he needed it now. Cautiously picking up the sword, and once he didn't get... attacked? again, he asked the girl, "So, what are you doing out here? Training, I assume?" Having picked the sword up, he motioned towards the dark fox creature with the now lifeless sword. It gleamed in the sunlight and caught the light, causing it to reflect up to his face, highlighting the features visible. His eyes were, thankfully, hidden from view thanks to the dark glasses. Who knew how dark the bags under his eyes were.

Duskull was up and at em' early this morning, the Pokemon moaned quietly as it floated about it's usual haunting grounds when it spotted two blond humans, and a Zorua. "Ooooh. . . They look like they are up for a scare." The Duskull snickered in it's native Pokemon tongue. It stealthily floated towards the unsuspecting trainer and quietly took in a big breath as it floated behind him. "OGABOOGABOOGA!"
The girl wouldn't even get a chance to respond. As Jason waited a few moments for the other blond to respond, a ghostly trickster sneaked up behind him and made a loud noise, causing him to stumble and fall, his right hand landing on the sword. The blue ribbon wrapped around his wrist and hand again, the eerie voice returning to his head. "Stand, Royde child, and prepare to engage in combat." It said, and this time, Jason noticed that the decorative hilt had an eye on it... And it was moving. But he did what the spooky ass sword said, and stood up, with the weapon in hand. Looking at the spot he had just been, Jason spotted the culprit, a Duskull. He felt a pang of pain his chest. It was like someone had shoved their hands into his chest, pulled and scraped at his insides, then poured salt all over the wounds. He hadn't seen a Duskull since Sebastian was one, so many years ago. Sebastian, his starter. Sebastian, his loyal friend. Sebastian, his dead Dusclops.
The sword in his hand was practically buzzing for a chance to battle, in fact, it was buzzing! It flashed with silver energy for a brief second, before saying in Jason's head, "An ancient technique to ready myself for battle, young Royde. Are you yourself ready?" Jason didn't even hear the animated sword. He was in his own world. Reliving the nightmare, the massacre, that happened. His arm went limp, and if it weren't for the fabric connecting the two, Jason would have dropped the sword.
If a sword could give a look of pity and disgust, this one would have but. Instead, it detached itself from Jason, and hovered in the air before him, before crossing the short distance between itself and the Duskull in a shadowy blur, slicing the ghost pokemon with its own blade.
Ok, he was going to have a nice stroll with his pokemon, no fighting, just a stroll.
Well at least he thought he'd have a nice stroll anyway. As he was walking along the path, he heard this dreadful gurgling sound. ~What the?~
He swivelled round and got the full view of it. A man had vommed everywhere. Calvin gagged at the very sight of his 'dinner'. He had to turn around and cover his nose just because of it.
"What the fuck?!" Groaned Calvin.
It was obvious the man was pretty hungover and he had absalutely no idea Calvin was standing there. Calvin shuffled around the sick and watched the man and another woman chat... She had a Zorua too! Flaws yipped excitedly but quickly feel silent when he saw the sword rise in the hungover man's hands. A Duskull had appeared and seemed it wanted to fight the man.
Calvin laughed and sat on a bench before shouting at the blondie, "Oi! Chucky! How are you gonna fight a pokemon when youre struggling to stand?"
Calvin grinned a sinister little smile. He loved digging at people, getting on their nerves - Such fun!
Holy shit, this guy couldn't take a joke could he? Duskull was sliced at almost killed! The Pokemon quickly backed up and burst into black blods, which manifested into a larger image of itself. It then once again tried to scare away Jason and Honedge. "OGABOOGABOOGA!" That will do it, but once more the ghost type thought. "OGABOOGABOOGA."
Jason wasn't even aware of the kid who was poking fun at his earlier puking, instead, he was trapped within his own nightmarish hell. The scene ran itself over and over in his head. The shattering glass, the look of concern on his pokemon's face, and finally, the deaths. All of those deaths. The slashing, the cries for help, and all of the blood. Jason had never seen so much blood in his life. Even when his Kirlia had been killed, nothing like this. His apartment looked like it had been pissed on by the red Koolaid man. Then there was one of the worst, if not the worst, losses he had had since Jasmine had been murdered. Sebastian, his Dusclops. His other starter pokemon. They had a Mightyena, Jason couldn't stand those fucking wolves now, and it chewed Sebastian to pieces, while Jason could only watch as his other pokemon tried to fight the never ending waves of pokemon.
Again, could a sword make facial expressions, this one would have. Having landed a solid hit on the Duskull, the ancient sword readied itself for another attack when suddenly the Duskull went for Jason. She couldn't let the Royde child be hurt, not while she was around. Dashing forward, her blade glowing with phantasmal energy, she was ready to attack when the Duskull made the mistake of attempting to scare Jason again. This time, the break from reality caused the blond's instincts to kick in, which was a solid punch to the mask of the Duskull. Doing martial arts and going to prison keeps people ready for a fight, and although it wouldn't hurt the ghost type, it certainly gave the sword a chance to strike. The punch had allowed her to move out of the way of the harmful energy, but she definitely felt the power in the screech the Duskull had done, and shook off the simple attack, and once again powered herself up, ready to attack when she was interrupted by a Human hand on her hilt.
Jason had grabbed the floating sword and was ready to fight, the fury he had contained from that night pouring out, giving him the energy to battle this ghost from his past. The sword's voice rang in his head, a slight tone of concern audible as she asked, "Are you certain about this, Royde child?" Jason didn't say anything, instead, he slashed out at the Duskull, the sword's blade glowing with phantasmal energy.
Who was this guy? Where did that power burst come from? It was all too much for Duskull, he'd slowly float down and lay on the floor unconscious. What would become of him? He hoped he wouldn't be murdered, like he was when he was living.
Duskull has fainted! Honedge gains two levels! Capture and Continue?
The ghost pokemon fell to the ground in a pile of ghostly energy and a skull mask. Not dead, Jason could tell that much, but near death. The sword in his hand was vibrating, the blood thirst radiating off of it, itching for the kill. In his head, the voice once again echoed, urging him to go in for the kill, saying, "This thing attacked you, us, does it not deserve the true death that awaits it, not this pitiful half life it lives now?" Jason's eyes were dull, glossed over, and if it weren't for the vivid nightmare he had just had, he probably would of killed the small ghost pokemon.
Instead, he dug around in his pocket with his free hand, holding tight onto the sword to stop it from just killing the Duskull flat out, and found a minimized pokeball. He wasn't completely sure how it had gotten there, but he remembered it being in there when he was looking for his phone. Taking in a deep breath, it had been years since he had done this thing, tosses the red and white capture device at the fainted pokemon. A flash of bright light emitted from it as it enveloped the pokemon, and it fell to the ground and ticked once, twice, and finally, dinged: signaling a successful capture.
It was done. He had captured a pokemon. He had battled. He was back at the fucking game. Sheathing the sword, ignoring its whispers and cries for freedom, he stepped forward and picked up the pokeball and attached the sheath to belt loop. Wow. He looked like a dumb ass. And there were those people too... Fuck them. His head was pounding again and his hand hurt from that damned sword. Checking his phone to check which was closer, Littleroot or Oldale Town, he settled for the bigger of the two; Littleroot. Arceus knows he needed a shot of something, and gripping the pokeball in his hand, knew the ghost pokemon needed some healing.
