hello calamity! we're nearing the two months mark in a few weeks. how time flies! right now we have two things going on that need your participation. the first is an activity check! it is impotant that you check in so you don't lose your face claim. the second is the otm nomiations! we're doing it a bit different than last time. so please submit your nominations in. a vote thread will be up in the next few days. there will also be a formal event coming very soon, so keep your eye out for that. keep being cool!
we're currently about to host calamity's first contest in slatepor. trainers are flocking to the city to see, the city's been trying to get good pr since the gala, and it seems to be working! they're asking for both coordinators and volunteer judges to sign up.

Penelope stared out at the route that led away from Oldale, sighing softly. She knew as soon as she stepped out into the wild, she'd have to start training again, which was something she had been avoiding as of late. Elijah was missing, and she had no idea where to even begin looking for him. It had become depressing thinking about it, and staying in his house. So she needed to get on her own way... Find her own place, now that she was used to sleeping in the comforts of a home.
Silently, she took the first steps onto the path and blinked as she heard rustling in the bushes to her side. Bruce stepped beside her lightly, sniffing around the bushes for whatever was making the noise. "Take it easy, Bruce. They might not want to fight." She said quietly. For a precautionary measure, she released Wyck and let him fly alongside of her.
"Let's just see how it goes." She mumbled quietly, waiting for the pokemon to emerge.
magby♂ - level 006 - flame body moveset: smog, leer, ember
Magby had been prowling around on the route looking for a fight for awhile now and he had finally found one! Magby spotted the girl and her pokemon and was waiting for an opportunity to pounce. But he wasn't that sneaky, he had rustled the bushes as he was getting ready and caused the girl's dog thingy to come over and investigate, only for her to then send out some kind of bird. The bird looked a bit weaker in his eyes, so Fletchling was his target! After the Fletchling was sent out Magby would leap out of the bushes and over Houndour! Landing on the ground behind the dog pokemon and firing off a single Ember attack at Fletchling.

Penelope gasped as the Magby seemingly flew from the bushes, clear over Bruce, and shot embers into Wyck's face. Frowning, she pointed to the Magby and nodded towards Wyck, giving him the OK to attack the creature who had just tried to burn him. "Hit him with a tackle, Wyck!" She called out. Not that Wyck could do much more. He was still a little baby compared to Bruce. No real attacks, yet.
Bruce looked like he was about to jump in and defend his little brother, but Penelope held her hand up and shook her head. "No Bruce, he has to do this on his own." She said quietly, watching as Wyck dove towards the Magby and tackled it to the ground.

Once Fletchling came in for the tackle Magby would try to move out of the way, still getting caught with the tackle anyway. Sending the little fire type tumbling over a couple times form the impact. Before he hopped right back up to his feet, glaring daggers at the Fletchling. That hurt! And he wasn't gonna stand for anymore of this, Fletchling should just roll over and let him win! With that in mind Magby would fire off another Ember attack at the Bird pokemon.

Penelope blinked at the Magby's look of daggers, before chuckling slightly at his fierceness. Maybe he wasn't such a bad fighter after all. Either way, Penelope needed to get the knock out in order for Fletchling to get stronger. She had a way bigger fight to win in the future, so this was entirely necessary, no matter how much she disliked hurting the pokemon.
"One more tackle should do it, Wyck. Just try not to be too hard on him this time around. He's just defending his territory." She mumbled quietly. Wyck nodded and went after the Magby once more, hitting him down to the ground, encapsulating him in his wings. Penelope waited patiently to see if she got the knockout, meanwhile keeping an ear on any more rustling bushes. Bruce was standing behind her, ready to pounce on anything that tried to catch her off-guard.

The second tackle was all it took, Magby was no where near as strong as he made himself seem. As soon as the second tackle hit Magby would be out cold, falling backwards onto the ground.

From high in the sky Sigilyph would come swooping down, having been flying around the region after leaving her desert. She had planned just to keep flying around, to take in the sights of the region. But the sight she caught was one that she couldn't bear to see, a trainer was beating up on a baby Magby! As she swooped in Sigilyph would flap her wings frantically, whipping up a gust of wind at the Houndour!

As Magby fell and the Sigilyph fell from the sky, Penelope smirked slightly, before looking down to Bruce, who was taking the gust that the Sigilyph was dishing out with as much poise as he could muster. "Good boy." Penelope smiled at Bruce, who glanced back to her and nodded his head in understanding.
"Hit it with a fire fang. Then let Wyck battle and finish him off." Penelope nodded, looking over to Wyck, who was now unfurled from the knocked-out Magby, and staring at the Sigilyph that had just come down for a visit. He was curious about the other flying pokemon; it was exciting to see that maybe he would get a new family member!
Bruce lunged forward with his attack and then jumped backed a few feet to avoid any direct repercussions of it. Penny nodded firmly and crossed her arms across her chest, waiting for the Sigilyph's next move. Whatever it was, she was ready.

Chomp! Houndour bit right down on Sigliyph with the Fire Fang attack. Causing Sigilyph to shake around angrily and fly back a bit, trying to distance herself from the Houndour. Maybe she bit off more then she could chew with this fight, she was outnumbered and maybe even out powered. She didn't expect this to happen. Panicking a bit Siglilyph would lean forward and shoot out a Psywave attack, the attack heading right for the Fletchling!

Penelope watched as the psywave hit fletchling, disorientating him and making him sink lower and lower to the ground. He was on the ground now, but still in fighting condition, as he charged forward and leaped up with a tackle, hitting the sigilyph square in the body. Penny smiled at her little fighter, giving a little tuck-fist to show her appreciation for him.
"Good job, Wyck. See if you can do it again!" She called out, watching as Wyck jumped again, hitting the pokemon once more. Bruce stood proudly by, watching his little poke-brother kick some butt. Training seemed to be going well for these two. Penelope wondered what levels her pokemon would be at at the end of the route briefly, but decided that maybe she would just get some rare candies soon to help move them along. Things were progressing, but it was a slow road, especially when she didn't feel much like doing anything for the first 2 months after Elijah had gone.
Penelope's phone beeped in her pocket, and she took it out slightly to glance at the notification, smiling at the name on the front, before tucking it back into her pocket. "Alright boys, let's work a little harder! Sylvester wants to battle!"

Uh oh they didnt go down! Sigilyph would panic a bit as the fletchling came in for some more attacks, she thought the Psywave would of been enough to take it down. But she was wrong apparently. Sigilyph narrowly avoided the Fletchling's first tackle, only to get hit with the second one still and sent tumbling to the ground. After that Sigliyph would hurry up and fly back up a bit, having a bit of a problem with flying because of how hurt she was. Not sure what to do now that Psywave didn't work Sigilyph would start to flap her wings once again, sending two gusts at Fletchling!

Penny gasped as sigilyph let out another two burst of it's gust move, reaching out to fletchling in case he needed her. Instead, she watched as fletchling took the first hit and dodged the next one skillfully, before hitting back with another two tackles. Where was all this spunk coming from? Wherever it was, Penny was seriously impressed with her little fighter.
"Good job, Wyck!" Penelope grinned and gave him a thumbs-up, showing how happy she was that he was kicking so much butt on his second try at fighting on the routes. "I'm so proud of you!" She clapped for him before glancing down to see if the sigilyph would be getting back up anytime soon. Bruce had wandered back over to her side, and was sniffing the air curiously for any other attacking pokemon.

This time Sigilyph wasn't able to get out of the way of the first tackle. Getting hit head on with it and sent flying back a surprisingly decent distance, the Fletchling's tackle had been a critical hit! After flying back from the impact Sigilyph would simply crash to the ground, fainted.
sigilyph fainted! sigilyph is available for capture! Wyck gained two levels!
Where was sheeee! Cacnea had been chasing after his friend Sigilyph all the way from the desert they came from. Sigilyph was Cacnea's best friend and he was worried about her, worried that she'd get into trouble. Cacnea had finally caught up to where he had seen Sigilyph go and came rushing out of the bushes, only to see his best friend fainting from the tackle attack. Cacnea couldn't stand for this! No one beats up his best friend! Enraged Cacnea would hold his arm's out, firing two poison sting attacks at Fletchling!-

Glancing over to the now-angry Cacnea that was coming towards them, Penelope put a hand to her forehead and looked up to the sky, groaning. Another one? Well, she had wanted to start training...
Sighing loudly, she watched a Wyck took both poison stings like a champ, before sinking to the ground and passing out. Poor guy was so worn out, but it gave Bruce a chance to get some levels in now. Penelope pointed to the cacnea and wiggled her fingers, before looking down to Bruce.
"Get him with a couple of Fire Fangs, Bruce." She smiled at him and winked. Bruce nodded and lunged forward, gnashing down twice on the cacnea. He flinched a bit at the prickles that stuck in his nose, before sneezing them out and jumping backwards.
While Cacnea was distracted, Penelope tossed a pokeball towards Sigilyph, waiting for it to stop flashing before picking it up.
Wyck - Fletchling - Level 12 - 0% HP - Fainted! Bruce - Houndour - Level 11 - 70% HP - Used Fire Fang (x2)!
Penelope caught Sigilyph!

Uh oh! As soon as the Houndour leapt in for the fire fangs Cacnea would start to run around in circles, worried about the fire attack. Luckily enough he was barely able to dodge the first Fire Fang, but still getting caught with the second! After that Cacnea would hurry up and check himself for burns after the attack had landed, he didn't have any which was good enough for him. He still hurt, but at least he wasn't burnt. With a quick nod Cacnea would start to fling his arm's in the Houndour's direction this time, firing off two more Poison Sting attacks.
