she's back in oldale. cass doesn't know why she's in here in the first place. nostalgia? she doesn't know. cass just knows that she just needed to be away from rory for a while. she hadn't been able to think about what happend before then. before now.
now is when she realized that error in her actions. okay, perhaps she did need space, but the way she left rory was uncalled for. it would've been too awkward if she woke up that morning and told him that he's still in he frienzone. cass doesn't do friends with benefits.
so she prepares for the walk back to petalburg for most of the morning. the pokemon center was barely active that day. oldale is a small town, and since the routes are short trainers rarely stay there for the night. she exits the door, turning a sharp left and bumping into a person she knows all too well.
Lamia prided herself in being a busy person. A person who did not have time for things such as pokemon or friends, a person who lived for and by business. She was always a cut above the rest in everything she did, so when that foolish boy had defeated her at a pokemon battle, she had ever right to be annoyed. Not because she had lost, no. Losses were common occurrences, especially in business. But for the simple fact that she now had to go out of her way to heal her pokemon at a goddamned pokemon center.
You could imagine the foulness of her mood as she turned right, and the annoyed scowl on her face when she came face to face with a stranger who dared bump into her. But she paused. Was that someone she knew? Interesting.
"Oh hello, Miss Cain. How wonderful it is to see you again." The words were not sarcastic (sarcasm was hardly understood let lone mimicked by Lamia), but rather had this eerie hollowness to them, a tone mimicking the vacant expression of her eyes.
"Would you care to step aside?" The polite words sounded nothing polite at all, and it almost felt as though the words held a hidden insult to them, one you would not be able to find in the tone or in her face.

"and here i thought i saw the last of you." cass drawls, rolling her eyes. she may be polite and curt, but cass doesn't really care. she holds grudges very well. she can barely even recall her name -- lamb? lame?...lamia -- but she can remember that flush of blue hair from anywhere. it stirs up bad memories, and she feels even guiltier at the thought of rory.
"no." cass snaps, standing her ground. lamia doesn't deserve it, not after what she did. she was always a weird one -- she saw her on the occasion, before the whole confrontation. there's always a certain look to her. hollow. emotionless. cass wouldn't thought she was a robot if she didn't screw rory.
but cass is also curious. is she still in aqua? cass folds her arms and leans on a hip. she can tell that there's a real possibiliy that rory might be seeing her again. she sighs, trying to shake the thought. "what are you even up to these days?"
The eye roll it met with nothing on Lamia's side- Cassandra has always been a person she was hard pressed to stand. She was chaotic, illmannered and hardly beautiful. Lamia was happy to have left her the way she had last seen her, emotionally wrecked and frail. Unfortunately the gods were not so kind and Lamia was left with a lingering pang of annoyance.
The annoyance turned quickly to anger when the girl refused to move away, and a flicker of something more than just hollowness flashes by her eyes, a kind of dark anger. She did not like being stopped for whatever reason. Before Lamia had regard her with a little pity and some dislike, but now the brunette seemed to be doing everything in her power to make Lamia an enemy, all because of what, Rory? Pathetic.
"I see no use in discussing my business with something that is not likely to understand let alone appreciate it. But if you must know," she pauses, looking at Cassandra. Her lips spread into a malevolent grin.
"Same as before, things hardly ever change." Whether Cass would get the implications behind the words was up to her, but Lamia hoped she would. Perhaps the blue haired girl was making it worse for her schedule, but for some reason being cruel to Cass was like instinct. She did not understand why.

oh, look. lamia finally shows a smidge of emotion when cass doesn't let her throgh. she actually looks angry. it's rather strange, because she's never seen an expression like that on her face. cass has never seen an expression at all on her face, but she wonders if she can provoke lamia even more.
her face then morphs into a grin. it's not an innocent one -- no, not by far. it's twisted and evil and full of malice. cass feels anger boil in her at the statement. what is that supposed to imply?
"fuck you." she snarls, fingers twitching to strangle her. enough to make her face blue, just like her hair. she's tempted. but for now she holds herself back, because they're right in front of the pokemon center and she'd rather not get arrested at the moment.
"you're dispicable. is it fun to ruin my life or something?"
She thought about it more clearly. Why did she care so much about interferring with Cass? She was in a hurry, she could have just given the woman what she wanted and walked away. The first instinctive response had been pride, but that did not make much sense. Cassandra hardly did much to aggravate her, and Lamia had to real reason to be pissed off. Why was Cassandra's very existence nagging at her? THe only thing Lamia knew about the brunette was that she was Rory's best childhood friend, and his favorite girl toy.
It couldn't be...was she....
She internally shook her head and looked at Cass incredulously, trying to get back into the flow of the conversation and escape her thoughts for a bit.
"Why would I have to go out of my way to ruin your life. Doesn't Rory already have that covered?" She asked plainly, wondering if Cassandra was blind or just purposefully ignoring it. Somewhere along her tone and eyes there was a mark of genuine curiosity. Didn't the girl understand?
for a moment cass doesn't really know what to do, because lamia gives her a blank stare for a while. she stares right back, daring her to do something. before long lamia's dead eyes brighten slightly, focusing on her. for once there's actually an emotion swirling in its deep depths, but cass can't really discern what. it's gone in a few seconds, and she's briefly left wondering what lamia's thinking in that meticulous, emotionless mind.
"what do you mean?" cass mirrors, a little apprehensive. she's a little curious about what lamia has to say, despite the anger that she possesses. but she already knows. rory may say he's changed, but does she really know if he did? he's already done it twice, what's there to say that he won't do it again?
"he...he wouldn't do that." her tone is shaky and uncertain. she doesn't who she's trying to convince more -- lamia or herself. but she's trying to hold on to this belief that rory's finally changed once and for all. but odds are, they haven't.
"He would," Lamia answered, somewhere along the lines a bit of life seeping into her tone, a daring energy making her pale, translucent face seem actually alive for once in a lifetime. She's dead serious now, and she's feeling annoyed. "He would do it again and again, and you know that." Lamai says, in a serious tone, one that could b e taken for her siding with Cassandra against Rory, or one that could be mocking Cassandra, or even one that is just happy with telling the truth.
But then her lips twitched upwards in a crooked, cruel smile. "And you know why? He doesn't care. You think he's like you, you think he's soft on the inside? No." He paused, saying so many words this full of this much passion- how long had it been? She huffed out and took a breath, and finally continued.
"He's not like you. He's like me. He's never cared about people." Oh, it had been a while since she had met someone as short as Cassandra- she missed being able to look someone directly in the eye with his much hate- looking up had been something she never liked doing.
"And." She took a breath. "He." She stepped closer, breath practically fogging up Cassandra's personal space. "Never." Her heart raced for an unknown reason. "Will."
"no..." cass whispers. she can't accept it. it's happened once, it can't possibly happen again. lamia's words only make it worse. cass wouldn't have even listened to her if not for that inkling of emotion that lamia's showing. she's deadly serious, and her face has contorted into cruelness. annoyance. she's openly mocking her at this point.
"but he does care..." cass says. her voice is shakey. there's no truth in her words, because now that she thinks about it, rory's promises were dreadfully empty in that moment. they make eye contact. cass desperately looks for any sign of deceit in her face, but there's not. it's a sneer that only the ugly truth can bring out.
she takes a step backwards, but lamia only takes another. her breathe's shaky, and there's a moment of shocked silence before cass suddenly lashes out. she shoves her hands towards lamia and stumbles backwards.
"f-fuck you." she says before turning tail and running.
