[attr="class","axscroll"]Petalburg was a pretty nice city, Axel had to admit. But once he was finished with the exploration and his Pokemon were healed, he wasted no time continuing down Route 104. And this time, Axel intended to stay just a little while longer. Before he didn't really spend much time training his Pokemon on 103, which probably meant his were a little under leveled. Oh well, now was the time to catch up.
Holly was doing pretty well so far. And Axel had to admit that the Phantump he picked up was pretty useful too. The Confuse Ray had completely wrecked the little Lotad they encountered on 103. With that in mind, Axel felt like he was pretty happy with his current team. Although, he was slowly gathering a lot of grass type Pokemon. It wasn't really a good idea to keep so many of one type, was it?
Warm days made for warm sand. For a young sandile like him, he couldn't think of a better way to pass the day. His mama had told him that - believe it or not - the sands in the desert were even warmer than the ones at this small beach! It was hard to imagine but his mama said that maybe, when he was older, she'd take him there.
His eyes closed, the sandile was camoflagued so well to the point that he was practically invisible, being that only his eyes and snout weren't covered by sand. So it was really no surprise that a passing trainer almost stood on his tail! Like hey! Couldn't a croc nap in peace? Mind those feet you overgrown oaf!
He snapped his teeth threateningly at the ruuuude trainer while snarling: "Sandile!"
[attr="class","axscroll"]Before Axel knew it, his feet stumbled over something on the ground. He almost toppled forward but caught his balance before he fell flat on his face. Turning around on his feels, Axel paused to take a look what was in the road. The Pokemon almost came out of nowhere, it's teeth bared and growling at him. Axel held up his hands in defense. "Hey, whoa. Sorry, didn't see you." Axel said, trying to apologize. He made sure to keep enough distance between himself and the Pokemon, but was able to take out his Pokedex and scan the Pokemon.
"Sadile, huh? Sweet." Axel said quietly to himself. The Sadile was a ground type, so his newly caught Lotad was the perfect choice, right? Picking off the Lotad's Pokeball, Axel tossed the Pokeball forward without warning. Once the Lotad was released, Axel wasted no time getting the battle started. "Okay, let's two with two Absorbs and see what you can do, Lotad!" He called out.
The small Lotad blinked and nodded, turning to face the Sandile with a blank expression. Two quick beams of Absorbs were shot out, aiming to hit the Sadile directly and weaken it severely.
How ruuuude could you get?! He was the one who'd gotten almost trodden on and now he was being attacked?!
The sandile, angered now he'd felt his energy be brazenly leeched from him with those two attacks, shook off the sand he'd been happily buried under until now in the lotad's direction. He growled at the pair and snapped his teeth at them again. He'd only been threatening to bite before but now he think he might just have to carry out his threat!
He charged forwards, his body - adapted to this sandy terrain - sped easily towards the lotad, and went to clamp his rows of tiny teeth into its body.
Sandile was hit by absorb! Sandile was hit by absorb! Sandile used sand attack! Sandile used bite!
[attr="class","axscroll"]"Awesome! Good hit, Lotad!" Axel cheered on. The Absorbs looked like they had done a decent amount of damage to the ground type, which was a good thing. Maybe the Lotad wasn't so bad after all. But it looks like they had really angered the Sandile. The Pokemon was growling and Axel's Lotad took a step back. Oh dear, that wasn't good. Before either of them knew it, the Sandile had kicked up the dirt on the path and into the Lotad's eyes. The grass type yelped and staggered backwards, only to be bit down on by the Sandile.
"Lotad!" Axel cried out. The poor little Pokrmon wiggled and squirmed to try and get out of the Sandile's mouth, but no luck. "Don't panic! Uh, okay, try some Absorbs again!" Axel said. There wasn't much the Lotad could do in that position. Maybe a close range attack would make the Sandile let go.
As commanded, the Lotad growled slightly and unleashed two Absorbs onto the Sandile!
Lotad was hit by Sand Attack and Bite! Moderately healthy Lotad used Absorb twice again!
What was this guy's problem with him? He was just a croc who wanted to bathe in the sand and catch a little shut eye?
The first absorb got him pretty well and, instinctively, the young ground type released the lotad so he could spring away and effectively dodge the second wave to the pokémon's attack. He swished his small tail aggressively from side to side, smacking the sides of his scaled body, making his current ire very well know.
"Sandile!!" He snarled loudly and pulled back his lips so to flash his mouth of pearly whites once again. It was a small warning before he charged after the lotad again, aiming to sink those teeth once again into the overgrown lilypad.
Sandile was hit by absorb! Sandile dodged absorb! (1/2) Sandile used bite!
[attr="class","axscroll"]At least Axel's plan to get the Lotad out of the Sandile's mouth had worked. The Pokemon was hit by the first Absorb, letting go of the Lotad and jumping away from the second. It then snarled angrily at Axel and the Lotad, swishing it's tail back and forth. The Lotad shook itself off, feeling a little bit better after the first Absorb had hit and sucked some health from the Sandile. But the peace didn't last long. The Sandile gave little to no warning when it attacked, biting down again on the Lotad's small body.
The Lotad yelped again, struggling in the Sandile's grip. "Lotad, keep using Absorb, you got this!" Axel cried out. The Lotad did as told and released two more Absorbs onto the Sandile while in it's mouth. Hopefully that was enough to take it down!
This was too much... these absorbs were leeching all his energy, he could feel how they were sapping all his fight out of him. The sandile let go of the lotad, trying to salvage what little of his energy he could before it was stolen from him but... it was too late.
"S-San... dile!"
The young crocodile staggered backwards and snapped his jaw at the lotad one last time for good measure before tripping up on his own tail and falling to the sand. He struggled weakly before he succumbed to his lack of energy and fainted.
Sandile was hit by absorb! Sandile was hit by absorb! Sandile fainted! Lotad gains two levels! Capture sandile?
[attr="class","axscroll"]The last two Absorbs was just enough to finally bring the Sandile down. The Lotad blinked and held its head high, turning back to Axel and smiling with a wide goofy grin. Axel grinned and walked over to the Lotad, patting the Pokemon on its head before returning it to its Pokeball. He then turned t the fainted Sandile, pulling out an empty Pokeball and tossing it down at the Sandile to capture it. Once the Pokeball had clicked, he picked it up and carried on towards the next area.
If Axel was correct, which was a rare occurrence, the next stop was Petalburg Woods. Why it wasn't Rustboro's Woods was beyond him. Then again, it was closer to Petalburg he assumed. Axel continued onward down the grassy path, hoping to find the next area soon and finally hit Rustboro to get the first badge of his collection!
The nidoran watched the trainer walk along the path closely from his hiding spot in the tall grass, his eyes narrowing at his lotad. He'd seen how they'd attacked that poor sandile and captured it without even the slightest hesitation. He pawed quietly at the ground, his claws digging up earth and roots, raring to lunge for them even when the trainer returned the pokémon to its ball.
"Nido!" He cried once the human wandered past him, drawing close enough to be within attacking range. The small poison pokémon reared up and flapped his large ears before charging after Axel, advancing on him from behind. He was going to avenge that poor sandile!
