MAYBE IT'S NOT ABOUT THE HAPPY ENDING,
Storm clouds and quick moving winds had guided Cliff to seek shelter this night. His team had enjoyed themselves in the quiet town of Oldale, with Aldo finding plenty of room to graze and run at his own hobbled pace, and plenty of trees and clear skies for Keane to feel the air glide through her feathers. Cliff had spent most of his time talking to the locals around the town, but he was ready to move on. This town was a bit to quaint, and he was eager to see what other cities existed in the region.
He had found shelter inside a local bar near the center of town. After stepping in, the wind quickly blew the door shut behind him, and he took a seat next to the worn wooden counter. A bartender had stopped his cleaning of the tables to serve his newest customer, quickly pouring a tap for Cliff and sliding it down in a frosty mug. As Cliff looked around, he had noticed that he was the only one in the bar this evening, which he found somewhat odd for a Saturday night, but the weather was quite horrible. He would have loved to shared a good conversation over this delicious drink, but for now he would sit and think about his journey ahead.
OOC: Thread is open to all, but I will tag people who I've talked to about plotters. Feel free to join if you would like:

It had been a rough trip returning to Oldale Town; Alastor had barely scrambled out of Littleroot in time to avoid Professor Birch's judgement and the proceeding convictions, but he was certain nothing should have come of wanting to steal something. At the very least however, it seemed wise to abandon the scene of his almost crime.
But the monsoon forced him to seek refuge in the nearest building, a bar that looked rather plain as far as Alastor's eyes could tell. It was desolate save for the barkeep and a single patron at the counter, so Alastor took a seat some several seats away to provide adequate personal space for himself and the stranger.
"I'll take a shot of Jager, if you've got any." It was a simple shake of the head that indicated they were either out or didn't stock this particular beverage, so he pointed at a bottle behind the counter and received a quick nod of approval. Nobody knows what's good over here. Or maybe I'm just weird. He casually glanced over at the other patron, eyes squinting to check for trainer gear.
"Hey, you look like a trainer. Any chance I'm right?" He carefully sipped at the drink and found it pleasant, though certainly not for the taste. I stand–sit–corrected; they know their liqor. Swallowing quickly, he breathed heavy and felt the burning sensation resonating down his gullet. Might as well enjoy the spare time the passing storm presented them with. I wonder when it will pass.

Heading inside the only bar within Oldale Town, Sylvester right away took notice to the two others sitting inside the close proximity of the establishment. Moving to position himself in a seat between the two of them, Sylvester was sure it would garner the attention of the others as he sat his backpack to his left—closer to the red-haired man than the other. Listening in on their conversation, Sylvester simultaneously gestured to the bartender for a glass of tropical rum. Taking a swig, he felt it's warmth reaching the insides all the way down to his stomach. Now that's refreshing.
Allowing the other two an interval of time to speak without interruption, Sylvester would let either of them initiate a conversation with him. The backpack beside him had a large pokeball printed on it, making it more than obvious he held some form of interest in pokemon.
As the storm continued on, he had noticed two other to come and join him in the bar. The server quickly hustled to accommodate all three of his patrons, serving the whole house with ale and good food. It was to Cliff's delight that he had been taken care of so well, even if he was shivering from the cool rain.
One of the other guests at the bar had seemed to recognize him as a trainer, not that it would be that difficult. With a bag slung over his shoulder, most travelers these days were trainers, and being that Littleroot Town was only one route away, it seemed to make sense. Nonetheless, Cliff responded with respect and tactfully. "Yes, I am a traveling trainer. A bit new to Hoenn, but finding new Pokemon and friends fairly easy. How about yourself? What brings you around Oldale?" he asked.

"What brought me here? I guess, in one word: Pokemon. But there's a lot more to it than that." He took a chunk out of his food fiercely, starved for the better half of the day while roaming the tall grass outside Oldale. His stomach growled and churned the food the second it plopped into his stomach. It felt good to eat, and to be warm n' dry.
"You should meet tall, dark and gloomy here. He's my cousin. HEY SYLVESTER!" He shouted, disturbing the barkeep but otherwise bringing Sylvester to them. He slapped an arm on his back and went on to explain more of the happenstance by which they arrived at the bar thirsty and hungry.
"We were out exploring together, and came back for a drink. The pokemon seemed to notice the storm way before we did, they hadn't been anywhere to be seen for most of the trip. We'll have to try again tomorrow, it seems." Al chugged his drink and belched, though he couldn't get a whiff of anything but alcohol and his throat was roasting.
