Within the limits of Petalburg City, Sylvester was enjoying a day sitting on one of the park benches, with plenty of trainers working with their abundance of pokemon. It almost made him jealous to see so many different kinds before him, but remembering his new pokemon Torchic allowed these thoughts to subside...at least for now.
'I don't think I've been this bored in quite some time...' His days the last two weeks were him bustling through the routes and wilds of Hoenn region, looking for promising pokemon to acquire as a part of his team. With little luck since the ones he had caught in Route 101, his days were now spent watching other trainers have all the fun while he just sat back and tried to look as if he wasn't frustrated. In all truths, though, Sylvester was, and it also left his confidence a little wounded. Was he really cut out to be a trainer? Who could really be the judge of something like that? 'I'll probably figure out when I go challenge the first gym leader.' It wasn't a very reassuring sentiment to make.

Dylan was tired from training once again, it was hard work these days the constant battles, the rush of fierce trainers, and the endless waves off wild Pokémon. He saw a nice shady bench and decided why not take a minute to rest, little did he know someone was already sitting there. Dylan quickly moved over to the bench, and let out a sigh of relief. "Phew. . . some hard work today." He muttered to himself, swinging his head back to look up at the sky. "Nice day out too."
He finally noticed the person next to him and smiled. "Oh, hello! Was this seat reserved for someone else?" Dylan said getting up quickly, he didn't mind moving, but he truly didn't want to. "I can go find another spot I don't mind." He added stretching a bit. "Sorry about that." And with a bow he was about to walk off.

"Huh, what's that?" Noticing that the individual had been talking to him, Sylvester was taken back—surprised to meet someone with as manner manners as this one. "Oh...no, it's not reserved for anyone. Feel free to sit here if you would like. I'm not going to fuss over it or anything." Truthfully, if it was someone like Darius Valentine, he might have. But this guy was a lot more kind, so it was easily tolerable.
"So, what's your name? I'm Sylvester." Waiting for the man to answer, he already knew what would be asked next. The question of whether or not someone was a pokemon trainer always crossed Sylvester's mind, as it was the one thing his career and life as a trainer revolved around—meeting other trainers and pokemon.

"Oh alrighty then, thank you." Dylan replied and sat down, man was he glad he didn't have to find another spot, it would of been terrible walking around with nowhere to sit. He made sure there was enough space between the two that they would smushed together or awkwardly apart, a nice talking distance if you will. He smiled again, this one more kinder then the last smile, a usual habit of Dylan's. "I'm Dylan, nice to meet you." He said introducing himself and stuck his hand out for a shake.
"What brings you to this lovely bench today?" He asked next, he was still a bit beat from his training but he was always ready for some more battling, it was his favorite thing to do now. He loved the rush he got whenever he did it, even though most of the time he loses or has to bail out. He only ever wins in wild Pokémon battles.

'Oh man.' This guy was almost too nice, if ever a thing were possible. Not aspiring to appear rude, and glad that at least it wasn't Darius Valentine, Sylvester reached out and firmly shook his hand. "Likewise. I'm Sylvester." He allowed Dylan his casual inquiry before speaking any further.
"Oh, just looking to bask out here in the fair weather. It gets boring, and most of all tiring out training with my pokemon every day. What about you?" Doing his best to keep up with the small talk, Sylvester gave the man his undivided attention, making eye contact while they answered.

Dylan saw the look on Sylvester's face, he was doing it. That thing where you zone out and think to yourself, a common thing among the people Dylan met, he also did it himself, he didn't mind it at all, it was quite normal around here. "Nice to meet you Sylvester." Dylan said with a nod, his smile faded for now, but it would definitely arise again.
"Oh it's good to take breaks isn't it? I train all day, from dusk to dawn it's all I do. I rarely take breaks, you gotta do what you gotta do to get to the top am I right?" Dylan replied and looked down at his Pokemon belt quickly. "Though some people start worrying about you if you do go train like I do, like Syndra, if ya know her, but I can't help it I love to train ya know? And I swear I'm not some knuckle head who only thinks about fighting."
Post by Sylvester Blackburne on Jul 4, 2015 22:20:02 GMT
"I actually do know a Syndra." It was pretty coincidental, but she did seem to get around a lot. He didn't think about it for long, though, returning to the subject at hand. "I sort of get what you mean. Though, I like to go do other things with my pokemon besides battle."
Of course, the thrill of catching pokemon was like no other, and for some—nothing got their blood flowing like a good battle. While Sylvester could say he lived for it, there were too many losses as of late for him to feel any trace of confidence. At least the life of a trainer was more fun than office work—that was for sure. "What kind of pokemon have you caught out in the wild?" Just a curiosity, as Sylvester had yet to find much in his adventures.

"Oh really? Small region I guess." Dylan said and quietly laughing to himself briefly, before turning to look at people walking by with their Pokémon out, or in pairs chit chatting back and forth like him and Sylvester currently. He thought about his Pokémon, and wondered, did he do enough for them or was he just using them to get stronger and stronger? Did they enjoy being trained by Dylan or would they rather be free? "When I'm not training with my Pokémon, I usually let them out to play or go get them some snacks to enjoy, not much to do with them other than that I think. I enjoy every second I'm with them though, and I hope they feel the same."
He brushed off those thoughts out of his head, he didn't have time to think negatively, he simply had to focus on making them enjoy being his Pokémon, working towards getting the gym badge, and quickly head off to Slateport City. After these three things he could slow down a bit. He turned to Sylvester after he asked a question. "Oh, I've caught a Petilil, Yanma, Elekid, Skiddo, and Fletchling. I gave most of them away though. . ." He muttered thinking if he had caught anything else. "Yeah that's all. . ."
Post by Sylvester Blackburne on Jul 5, 2015 19:59:03 GMT
"That sounds pretty good. You must get around a lot, huh?" Inside, it made Sylvester wanted to go out searching for wild pokemon to capture this instant. Unfortunately, he had been low on the proper funds to afford many more pokeballs. At least, not with how he was working his budget.
"When was your last battle? Did you win or lose?" Waiting on his answer, Sylvester contemplated discussing his own last battle—it's outcome, most of all. Even though his reputation, nonexistent as it may be, was pretty horrid—that didn't stop him from striving to get better. With Syndra being his role model for now, achieving greatness did not seem out-of-reach. Sylvester just needed to stay confident...and determined to win.

"I mean I guess I get around a lot. . . Not really sure, I've never ran into the same person twice except for my close friend William." Dylan replied thinking about how far he had come since Little Root town, it took quite a while to get where he was currently. Reflecting on it was hard though since he had done so much, he didn't even remember! "I should make a journal of my adventures. . ." He muttered to himself quietly. "My last battle? I don't really remember. . . I can remember the first battle I had here though!" He said with sigh, then started laughing a bit. "Ahh yeah it was against a girl named Andrea? Short, black hair, don't know if you know here, but damn she was good! She wiped the floor with me haha!" Dylan answered and then nodded. "I don't mind losing I still gain a lot out of each of my battles, I don't think you should focus on the fact you lose when you do, but the fact that you gained experience as a trainer ya know?"
Post by Sylvester Blackburne on Jul 9, 2015 4:22:13 GMT
"Yeah well, I've been trying to, but its a lot easier said than done." Especially when losing was beginning to become a 'thing' for Sylvester. He couldn't remember the last time he had won a battle against a trainer...if he even ever did. I do know an Andrea, actually. Odd that we know so many of the same people..." It was quite surprising, but Hoenn wasn't the entire world, so something like this wasn't exactly unheard of.
"I'll be honest. I don't mind losing when I know me and my pokemon gave it our all. Defeating all the gyms, the elite four, and the champion of Hoenn isn't my only objective as a trainer." He continued on, delving a bit deeper into what exactly he had meant. "I also want to aid the fight against teams aqua and magma. I can't stand to think there is scum like that walking around with liberty and freedom like the rest of us, y'know?" He hoped that Dylan could relate...
Post by Dylan Allardice on Jul 9, 2015 20:39:42 GMT
"Well don't worry Sylvester, I'm sure you'll become a super strong trainer one day, and losing streaks and such will be all behind you." Dylan replied giving Sylvester a pat on the back. He was probably just in a small rut, He'd be out of it in no time. Dylan then moved his arms into his pocket where his Magma Teleporter was, he wondered what Sylvesters views were on the teams, but didn't want to ask out of no where. "Andrea too? Maybe we were just destined to meet as well huh?" Dylan said chuckling to himself a bit. "Do such things as destinies exist? Who knows." Dylan thought to himself.
"Oh really? What else do you have in mind to do?" He asked, what else was there to do in this region as a trainer? Complete the Pokedex? Or go to the Battle Frontier? Nope. Sylvester wanted to crush Team Aqua and Team Magma. "O-oh. . . Yeah I forgot about those guys. . . They really make me sick to the stomach ya know? Who gave them the right to judge the world and all. . ." Dylan muttered, he tried not to make it obvious that he was a member of Team Magma.

"Maybe we were...maybe." Sylvester spared a fraction of a smile, listening to what more Dylan had to say of teams aqua and magma. Though he seemed to concur, Dylan's concern towards dealing with them did not seem very fervent nor sincere. "How could you forget about people like that? If anything has been making headline news, it's those two teams and their conducted affairs across all of Hoenn. I can't wait to be able beat'em down."
Realizing he himself was getting a little too passionate about it, Sylvester settled his mind with a deep calming breath. Closing his eyes, he began to think about the night where he met Julius Kingston. Now that was someone he could relate to, whom loathed the two eco-terrorist groups equally as much as Sylvester did. "Eh...I guess it can't be for everyone, right?" He glanced over towards Dylan for confirmation on the matter.

Dylan nodded, he was a firm believer in people's destiny. Moving onto the next topic of Team Magma and Team Aqua Sylvester seemed to have extreme hate for both of teams. Dylan needed to think of answer carefully, he was in quite the predicament. "I don't really get much time to sit around and watch the news you know, I like to keep on my feet and meet people, I've never really came across and Magma or Aqua people in my travels. Until they do something really bad, I have no reason to step into fight them, they're doing what they believe is right, I can't hate someone for doing that." Dylan responded in full honesty.
Both Magma Grunt and Trainer remained quiet, Dylan frowned a bit. He didn't want to admit it, but there was probably going to be a day where he would have to fight off Sylvester for Team Magma, but till then he was going to enjoy his time with him, leaving him in ignorance for now and apologizing later for doing so. Though he didn't know if Sylvester would accept that future apology, he had to wait and see. "Yeah. . . I don't believe it's for everyone until everyone is forced to be involved." Dylan said, his frown disappearing before Sylvester could notice it.
Post by Sylvester Blackburne on Jul 13, 2015 22:56:13 GMT
"Yeah, I guess you could say that..." Though, Sylvester felt differently. Waiting for them to act and only then doing something about it gave teams Aqua and Magma the upper hand of being one step ahead in this game. Sylvester didn't plan on letting them get ahead of him, or anyone for that matter. That was the sole reason for his rigorous training regime that he and his pokemon followed.
"Though, I hope there won't be a need to worry about them much longer. I've been making friends with people who feel the same...one even went so far as to tell me we aren't alone." His gaze shifted towards Dylan, an expression disappearing on his face. 'What was that...eh, probably nothing.' Perhaps Sylvester was just in a very suspicious sate of mind right about now. Dylan didn't seem very much a threat to anyone.
"I've only seen things about them on TV so much. It's mostly the run-ins I hear about, and the Magma grunt I saw harassing some kid in Rustboro City. Me and the other guy I mentioned sent him back to his superiors empty-handed. Serves them right." He snickered gently at the thought, leaning back further into the bench.
