Iggy was ready to start his adventure. He ran out of the boring little town and into the route, pokeball in hand. He was going to wreck some wild Pokemon. Iggy was at home in the water, sometimes moreso than on land. He had been a successful competitive swimmer for years, but that got dull after a while. Of course he still loved swimming and beating others with his skills, but it was no longer his main focus like it was years ago. Now, he was focused on Pokemon. Iggy would have the strongest water team in the region if it killed him. [break][break] Speed was just itching to get out of its pokeball--or at least, that's how Iggy thought it should feel. Why wouldn't it want to come out and battle? He had only just gotten the Pokemon today, but he with something that liked going fast just like him, it would like the fast pace of battle. Iggy knew he would, at least. He was dressed lightly for it, wearing a simple overshirt and just close-fit swim trunks and sandals. He looked more ready for a swim race than battle, really.
lotad♂ - level 005 - swift swim moveset: astonish, growl
from his little pond over by the side lotad could see everything that passed. trainers would come and go. but this one stood out to him. swim trunks and sandals! ha! lotad laughed and hopped out of the water. he ran to stop in front of the trainer. he made a silly face and laughed.

When the Lotad came out of its pool, it was quickly noticed by Iggy. He grinned deviously at it and immediately threw out a pokeball, "Let's go, Speed!" A Staryu popped out, landing with a commanding presence in the grass before the littler Pokemon. Even if the Lotad wasn't a pure water type, Iggy wanted it. He would be the best and most powerful water trainer in Hoenn if it killed him. [break][break] Iggy wasn't going to give the Lotad a break. Both he and his new Pokemon were all about going fast, so he wasted no time in beginning the battle, "Speed, use tackle!" The Staryu closed the distance between them quickly and flung its body at the little Lotad.

The cheeky lotad wasn't laughing for much longer. The mischievous grin on his face was completely wiped off him when the staryu went ahead and tackled him with little warning.
"Lotad!" He chirruped, annoyed, before moving in to use astonish on the bad staryu, He was cheeky but these guys were plain mean!

It was fighting back. Good. Complacent Pokemon wouldn't really do him any good, now would they? The Lotad seemed to have quite the personality, too: cheeky and spiteful. It obviously needed some training if that poor attempt at a scare tactic was the only move it had, but Iggy was willing to put that effort in. Bah, who am I kidding? Iggy was just as likely to quit on the Pokemon as soon as he caught it as he was to throw it a few levels when he could. Becoming a strong trainer simply wasn't the highest on his priority list. [break][break] Shaking any thoughts of his long-term plans out of his head, Iggy brought himself back to the battle he was confident in winning. "Tackle it again, Speed! Keep at it!" The Staryu was hit by the Astonish but only paused a moment before dashing in and hitting the Lotad again. It quickly circled around and flung itself at the wild Pokemon a second time.

Now he was getting more than just annoyed! The lotad shook off the staryu's tackle attacks and glared defiantly at his foe. He stuck his tongue out again at both the pokémon and trainer before growling at the two of them too.
"Tadddd!" He grumbled before charging after the staryu to spook it again. He was tired but far from ready to give up!

What a petulant little--"Speed, get out the way and finish it off!" The Lotad was being more resilient than Iggy would like. He was tempted to walk over there himself and stuff it into a pokeball right now. He refrained, however, from intervening in the battle between small but super-powered creatures. At the command, Iggy's Staryu darted out of the way and came right back at the Lotad. Iggy either needed to get stronger Pokemon or get used to the idea that the ones he had were not very strong. Losing was one thing he couldn't tolerate. [break][break] Iggy started rolling a pokeball between his fingers, all too ready to throw it at the Lotad if and when it finally gave up. Letting his competitive side take over was rarely a pleasant experience for Iggy. It made him stressed and easily angered. It was part of the reason he had stopped competing in sports--though there was a much larger and more serious reason he had stopped (or rather, been forced to).

One last tackle was plenty to take the lotad down finally. The water-dwelling creature was sent flying, landing upside down on the large head on his head, and wiggled his stumpy legs about weakly. Lacking the energy to right himself, the lotad stayed there and reluctantly let his exhaustion take over.
Lotad was hit by tackle! Lotad fainted! Speed gains two levels! Capture the fainted Lotad? Another pokémon?

"Finally, you sassy little fuck." Iggy grumbled at the Lotad. He walked over and pelted a pokeball at it. Sure, the thing had been resistant to say the least, but Iggy still wanted it. Something with guts would even be a preferred addition to his party. "Let's go, Speed. Day's not over yet." Speed dashed up to Iggy to follow him. What was the point in returning the Pokemon to its pokeball if it was just going to be sent out again for another battle? It's not like it had been all that wounded by the Lotad, anyway. [break][break] Still feeling vengeful and energetic, Iggy walked around, looking for more Pokemon to battle. His eyes darted to the trees and shrubbery, but what he was really in was the pond he had found the Lotad in. Iggy had a thing for water, and only wanted water Pokemon. Whatever he found he would be happy to have his Staryu clobber, though. Iggy even took off his sandals and splashed about in the water rudely to rouse any Pokemon in there or nearby.
