The sunset painted a slender silhouette for the young man ambling eastward from the façade of a building. The summer breeze picked up and tugged at his straw-colored hair, and he shuffled his hand through it until it sat neatly again. He wore a loose slate-gray cardigan over a slim-fitting off-white T-shirt. Faded magenta sweatpants hung from his narrow waist, complemented by dirty white shoes speckled with similarly-colored magenta paint.
Soft tingles of contentment danced across his skin, and Cyg felt self-confident long after he departed from the professor's lab. The young man dug his hand in the brown satchel slung over his narrow shoulder, reaching for an object spherical and hard. He clutched the pokéball and pulled it out of the bag, setting it in his palm like one would a trophy. His fingers folded smoothly over the round edges, and then he released them with the snap of his wrist, hurtling the ball toward the ground.
Cyg knew what Pokémon he had received, and he wasn't disappointed in the slightest. In fact, he thought her Smokescreen attack would prove quite useful in his escapades. The Horsea, balancing on her tail, quivered in his presence. He figured that working with a nervous Pokémon wasn't all that much different from working with a nervous human, only more touch and sensitivity would have to be involved. "Relax," said the novice trainer softly. He tenderly guided the Horsea's snout upward and engaged her crimson eyes. "You have to feign strength, or weakness will control you. This transitionary period is only a small setback in the great adventure ahead of us, yeah?"
Cyg dropped her snout and paced forward a few steps. Furrowing his brow, he folded his arms across his chest and heaved a sigh. What else could I have done? Given her a treat, said 'good girl,' and twiddled my thumbs until she was fine? Time doesn't stop rolling when you're scared. He looked over his shoulder at the Horsea petrified with fear. The young man snickered to let out steam, and then a cocky half-smile passed across his lips. Guess I'll just have to wing it, what I do best. He pirouetted around, crouched down, and said, "Philippa's a pretty name, don't you think? How's Pippa, for short?" The Horsea trembled slightly and let out a halfhearted cry. Cyg patted her head and mumbled under his breath, "Getting there."
A soft tone in the distance from behind both trainer and Pokemon. Light and subtle with almost a touch of welcoming calmness. The pitch was kind of high but listen close enough and one could tell it was distinctly male sounding. From around the edge of a rooted bush the front of a black and white boot appeared. In suit being followed by the presence a boy no older than a teenager in appearance and assumably in years as well. His gentle curved face expressed a an equally gentle smile as he entered the scene. A hand waving behind him as if he was directing someone behind him.
"Forgive us for interrupting." He expressed to the two of them. His hand continuing to wave as a Pokemon all his own came hobbling out to his side. A young Squirtle who much like the the blonde man's Horsea was new to the whole trainer / pokemon bonding experience. So far though Beta and Harmone had held their time together rather well but it hadn't been without considerable trial and error on both their parts thus far.
Dressed head to toe in an odd assortment of clothing and colors. The main repetition being bright colors ranging between white, black, and teals. Up close Beta looked like something out of a science fiction story and yet with his slender childlike features, matched with his snow white hair and two tone blue eyes. Altogether the strange appearance somehow fit nicely together in all in unison.
A slender finger came up to brush a piece of white hair from his vision as Beta continued to explain. "I didn't mean to intrude but I heard a voice and got curious." Back and forth the white youth's eyes shifted between the blonde man and the Horsea. Just from first glance alone it seemed like maybe these two were in the same situation as himself and Harmone. Two newbies ready to set out into the world at each others side. If that was the case then this was definitely exciting. A chance to meet someone just like himself. Again, though, Beta tried not to make any assumptions. Merely ponder on an idea.
"New Pokemon I take it?" Beta inquired, the spark of interest already about him. Ready to test his theory Beta reached into one of the deep pockets of his vest and pulled from it several small nibblets. Each resembled differently colored pieces of candy when in reality they were a food. Food meant specifically Pokemon. A helpful gift the professor had been polite enough to pass along when Harmone and Beta had been introduced for the first time. Needless to say it had made the process of spending time together a little easier to handle.
Hand outreached in the blonde's direction Beta offered him to take a couple pieces. "Here, give your Pokemon this. It's food. Should help you out a little bit." When a person was ever in need, if Beta could do it he always made an effort to help out where he could. To spread kindness around was to achieve some goodness in the world. That and it never hurt to make one's self seem reliable to others.
While Beta carried on with the man his Squirtle was hesitant to get closer at first. Carefully Harmone watched his trainer interact with the others. Undecided in whether it should keep following. It paused in place for a moment debating whether to be a part of the introductions or not. There in place it remained glancing at the trainers then over at the lone Horsea until finally the mention of food sparked it's interest. Maybe if it got involved a treat could be earned and with that it waddled over on all fours joining the group at Beta's side once more.
641 Words cygnus frey ( Someone ask for a cutie with a booty kind Pokemon handling? ♥ )
A diffident sentence uttered behind him, Cygnus whirled around and a young man presumably several years younger than himself stood only several feet away. Cyg narrowed his eyes and grimaced, speculating the nature of this encounter. The dark purple-blue tresses of twilight cascaded across the clouds, and virtually no one was around him mere minutes ago. A sinister chord strung through his heart as the grim possibilities multiplied in his head--a fit, attractive, seemingly ingenuous young man meandering at dusk was easy prey. I sincerely hope this scrub didn't follow me from the lab. Perhaps this boy's associates are using him as a lure to get to me. He rolled his eyes. Visible paranoia is also explicit weakness, which only solidifies your status as easy prey. Cyg forced a grin. "Thanks," he said offhandedly, directing his attention back to his Horsea who appeared as skeptical as her trainer. As if I needed confirmation from a stranger. He picked up his Pokémon, prepared to hustle with her in tow if the situation went awry.
Nevertheless, the stranger made an apology that seemed sincere, and his relaxed posture and polite tone couldn't possibly belie malicious intentions. His laughable paranoia abated, Cyg could take advantage of the situation, have some fun. "Don't sweat it," Cygnus said. I don't know what sort of story he's conjured between us, but it's science fiction, in theme with how he's gaudily dressed this evening. "I'm accustomed to being approached by cute guys, so don't worry, especially with that winsome smile of yours," Cyg crowed. I doubt this kid even knows what accustomed or winsome mean, but he probably carries a dictionary with him judging by his looks.
The stranger offered a handful of Pokémon treats he said would help, but Cyg wasn't all that engaged in the conversation. Help with what? Cyg decided to set Pippa down. I know it's food, smart ass. Couldn't you have just handed me a couple of human pills and I would be out by now? Cygnus chuckled and held his hand out to receive the gift. He let his hand rest on the stranger's for a few seconds, and then he caressed the boy's fingers as he pulled his hand back to his side, stuffing the treats in his pocket. Cyg lasciviously pursed his lips and looked the stranger up and down, taking in the boy's svelte build. "What's your name and how much do you have on you?" Cyg winked. He wouldn't demean himself enough to actually bed the boy; he would work him up and then steal what he wanted when the impressionable kid was distracted. At least that was the plan.
Beta Genesis, I can only apologize for his behavior
Beta chirped in response. His smile growing a little wider in the moment before returning to normal. Though it wasn't obvious at first, the more the two of them mumbled back and forth the more the boy realized something. This man was short spoken and rather brief with his interaction. Fair enough considering that a boy he didn't know just up and appeared from seemingly no where at a point in the day where little bystanders were known to roam. Mixed with the situation that this might be his first go about as a trainer. The amount of discomfort Beta might have been putting on him now was showing. Even if only a little bit.
Humans were indeed stranger. Always playing towards each other that everything was okay when that necessarily wasn't the truth. Not everyone could be as honest or open with their intentions. Understandable, not everyone was able to do so. For one reason or another. Maybe this man was no different. Going as far to keep his true feelings to himself. Beta could not blame him the slightest nor judge him for a matter of fact. Even so it was a little discouraging if that was the truth. Again, not that Beta would make any assumptions. It wasn't in his nature to do so.
As if actions didn't speak loud enough. The moment the man picked up his Horsea and began to to turn his attentions away from their conversation, Beta became slightly discouraged. What was this dude's deal like really. Beta had debated even remotely acknowledging the presence of a noise. Just to carry on his merry way and pretend as if nothing had caught his attention. Yet that wasn't his style. He was open to new encounters. To adventure and the idea of meeting new people. Unlike this jerk. Seriously, if he didn't want to be bothered he should have said as much.
Content to walk away the moment the stranger would leave. Beta was surprised to find the main change his mind. Coming back with a weird comment that sounds like some kind of bad pick up line. Oh boy that was real 'subtle' Curious once more, the white haired youth had to wonder what was going on in the mans hand. His actions appeared impulsive and on a whim. Not entirely friendly or at least not from the get go and though Beta would prefer to see the good potential in people. The man's back and forth approaches struck him as definitely odd. Seems close attention would have to be need.
Harmone looked up to his trainer just a curious if not more so. There was a sensation in Beta's eyes that he hadn't really seen before. One that made his tail quiver lightly behind him as if something was going down. Was his trainer upset? Anger? Did this new person make him feel in danger? Whatever it was it made Beta seem a little antagonized as well as intimidating to look at. Even with the smile still spread wide across his face.
"Tell me, do you use that cheesy line on every boy you meet?" Beta replied chuckling shortly afterward. He was doing his best to remain civil in the situation. At least until he could determine whether or not it was time to leave. Last thing he'd let himself get dragged into was a bad situation.
When the man reached over to finally take the food Beta let his eyes follow the hand. Doing light surveillance as it rest on his own. In easy style Beta let the food roll off and over, the whole time swearing that he felt the man's finger's caressing his own before the two pulled away. Such an act made a tingling shiver go up his spine. Something he hadn't anticipated but didn't necessarily mind either. All was fair in foreplay but that didn't mean he'd let the other man get his way if he could help it. This guy must think he's so smooth... Jeez.
Now aware to part of the game, it was time to turn the charm up a little. If there was ever an angle to play for confirmation of information. Then it was time for Beta to get his flirt on. Though he wouldn't hesitate to put the man in his place if things got too out of hand. Stance growing a tad bit more confident Beta's eyes narrowed a little. The smile curling at the ends as he replied to the next question. His voice sounding louder and more firm. "Most call me a femboi but you can call me Beta. As for how much I got..." Beta reached into his pockets and then pulled his hands back out with a shrug. "Can't say I have much to my name at the moment." Just reel keep reeling him in the youth reminded himself the whole way through. Just keep reeling.
822 Words cygnus frey ( No worries. It's really kind of amusing. )
Pippa was transfixed by Cygnus' interaction with this stranger. Her trainer immediately took to courting him (as evident by Cyg's body language,) and the other boy essentially accepted it by not reacting in opposition to his advances. She reclined on the stone behind her, and then her eyes drifted, eventually meeting the other boy's Pokémon. Their shell looked a little heavy and gave indication that they were most likely a water-type too. Pippa giggled to herself.
"I have to alternate among a few lines in my repertoire, so when they hear tales about a traveling gigolo from their out-of-town buddies, they don't get suspicious." Cyg flashed a smirk at the boy. I hope he finds my goofy self-deprecation somewhat humorous. The Team Aqua grunt didn't focus intently on the younger male and instead labored to maintain the show he started.
Cyg coughed. "What? Femboi?" He chortled loudly. "Is that a pet name from someone twice your age? Let me guess--did you meet him on the Internet on one of those immoral websites? How deplorable," He remarked, invoking a goody-two-shoes mother. This kid is naughtier than I intuited. Man, I ought to stop trying to predict people's boundaries; I could maybe get away with a little more. Shame he doesn't have much cash on him...nah, that's not really my style anyway.
Cyg pulled a carton out of his pocket, sliding out a white cylinder and then returning the box from where it came. He fished a lighter out of his other pocket and lit the tip of the object. "Ever tried one, Beta?" He twirled the cigarette in his hand, tilting his head as he spoke. "If not, now's not the time to start, so don't expect me to hand over one--I'm a selfish, good-for-nothing chain-smoker." He inhaled and then blew the smoke Beta's way. Is he buying this scummy, promiscuous act I'm pulling? Sure seems like it. Hell, I should've been the lead in the play my last year at school. "I want to ask you something else. Do I read older than I am? C'mon you can tell me the truth, buddy," Cyg said, feigning raspy, slurred speech. I feel like a sleazy old man right now, so mayble I'll get something funny out of him.
I order to disorient the boy further, Cyg dropped the pretense suddenly, adopting a weary, somber tone of voice. He took a few steps past the boy, now facing away from him to convey some sort of urgency. "My name's Cygnus, and Beta, you should know I'm actually not looking for a curious dalliance this evening. We could battle, but I feel like pitting two water-types against one another could get tiresome." Cyg curled his lips inward and then outward. 'But then again, I could also use the practice and try out this trainer thing, yeah? What d'you think, sport?"
Beta Genesis, sorry, my posts tend to be pretty short, and I'm also sorry for channeling jay Gatsby at the end.
