hello calamity! we're nearing the two months mark in a few weeks. how time flies! right now we have two things going on that need your participation. the first is an activity check! it is impotant that you check in so you don't lose your face claim. the second is the otm nomiations! we're doing it a bit different than last time. so please submit your nominations in. a vote thread will be up in the next few days. there will also be a formal event coming very soon, so keep your eye out for that. keep being cool!
we're currently about to host calamity's first contest in slatepor. trainers are flocking to the city to see, the city's been trying to get good pr since the gala, and it seems to be working! they're asking for both coordinators and volunteer judges to sign up.

in this formal we have a speed dating event, where people are going to get to know each other -- but in a speed that maximizes their time. there will be 3 rounds of speed dating, each round will last about 5 minutes! when the whistle blows you will move to your designated table to meet your next date. keep your pokemon close, keep your dates closer! please enjoy!

[attr="class","mv1"]life was a strange thing. when you were young, you were supposed to learn from your mistakes through trial and error. even when you were older you were supposed to make mistakes and learn from them. life was a learning experience. but then there were some mistakes that were too far gone to take back. no matter what you do or how hard you try, there would be nothing you could do to change the events. instead you were left there with a bitter feeling and a sense of impending doom as you try to fix what had been done.
this was one of his times. he fucked up so bad.
when he had signed them all up on the form, he had thought it was for some kind of raffle or something fun. he had briefly glanced over the instructions and what to do but the excitement had made him just hurry on and sign names before leaving. what he did not realize is that he signed up for the wrong one. now all of them were stuck on a speed dating event that any of them wanted to be a part of. plus the fact that he was already taken...in a sense. he was never going to hear the end of it and he was sure the looks he had gotten when they were all dragged away would haunt him for days to come. he was an idiot.
evan sighed and looked around the table to see which one would be his date. there were a lot of people surprisingly. evan even caught sight of miles sitting down with the rest of the group and stared. the last time he had seen the other male was at the cave event but that had been weeks ago. he wondered if things were still rocky between all of them but now wasn't the time to think about it. instead he turned his attention his his supposed date and wondered how he managed get stuck in this situation.
Usa fiddled with the small white card that was handed to him when he entered the room. On it, a name was written in bold letters. Dylan Allardice. He didn't recognize the name. Dylan, Dylan...what would a Dylan look like? He slowly walked over to a table at the far end of the room, pulled out a chair and sat down. It seemed like he was one of the first to arrive, and he was okay with that. At least this way, he had some time to prepare himself. His mind raced. What topics should he talk about? How should he respond to something the other person said? These were questions that swirled in his head.
He constantly reminded himself to smile and look curious (was that a thing?). Ask questions...always ask questions...
Usa wasn't too social, and even though he was looking forward to this event, he didn't quite know how to handle the interaction. Still, he was excited about what was to come and if it was one thing he did best, it was preparing...
Risu came running through the Gala and into the room, he looked towards the room his name was on the list. He was excited to finally taste a food he had never heard of. Dining with someone? Yami? Fine! But he can't expect to have the dating all to himself. He looked around Toki was still beside him and had the appearance of the Scyther mask. He spots his brother and was excited! He wanted to try this food too, maybe they could share? Well that would be the case if not for the fact they have dining partners. This is lame he wanted this momentous occasion with his brother.

Dylan was anxious for the speed dating, I mean the chances of Fiona being there and him being paired up with her were slim to none, but he didn't mind not at all. "It's always good to have options isn't it Riolu!" He said with a smile moving over to his table, he was going to be friendly and well himself, no matter what, hopefully that wouldn't make it awkward. He quick sat down and flashed a kind smile toward to his date. "Hello! You're Usa Keji right? Pleasure to meet you!"
His date was rather young, but Dylan didn't judge, some people just started early, he estimated around five years younger then him? Eh, whatever, hopefully he'd start up the small talk, Dylan was never good with starting conversations especially with other people, he mostly talked to himself. His Riolu jumped down in front of the Absol waving. "Riolu!"
'Don't be nervous Sam..you're just going here to meet people after all, its barely even a date..' Sam thought to himself as he made his way into the place the speed dating was supposed to be held. It didn't help much he was already a tiny bit nervous honestly.
He neglected to dress up for the occasion as well, just sporting his usual clothes with his Natu perched on his hat. His Noibat egg still nestled safely in his backpack, after all it was too special a pokemon to just throw the egg around. Barely bothering to look around as he entered where the speed dating was supposed to be held Sam would simply hurry up and go find his table.
Letting out a sigh of relief as he arrived to an empty table, he was the first one here. Whiiich meant he could still back out if he wanted to. Against his better judgement however Sam would slowly sit down in his seat, keeping his head straight as to not disturb the Natu on his head.
With another sigh Sam would shift around in his seat, trying to get comfortable. Maybe it might help him calm down and stop being nervous about this whole ordeal. But who knows, it may just make things worse by making him too comfortable.
Still unable to shake his small fit of nervousness Sam would simply sit there in his seat, having a conversation with his Natu telepathically thanks to Natu being psychic, while waiting on his first 'date' to show up."

Table, table, table... She put her name in for some dating thing, hoping it would get her some free food. However, she had found the buffet shortly after, realizing she didn't have to go dating to get her dinner. Still, Fidel didn't want to disappoint whoever was waiting for her... so she decided to just bring her food to whoever she was assigned to.[break][break]
Swallowing the chunk of pure, unadulterated greasemeat, Fidel wiped her oily hand on the table, extending the limb (charbroiled courtesy of Andrea Warren) to the man with the Natu. She smiled at him, and it was a miracle that bacon bits weren't stuck between her teeth. For such a small figure, she had way too much on her platter. As it was, she was also extremely ecstatic to eat her 8-man serving.[break][break]
"Heya! I'm Fidel! I was told to come here, so I just came with my food. What's your name?"

The scene opens a young men red shirt, white suit black tie. He's confident his hair slicked back in a style far from the norm he takes his seat elbow leaning on the table. He sees an old friend across the way, another red head one he's been meaning to make up with for a while. Last they met, there was disaster but time heals old wounds and apologies came easy now. He waves to the red haired man a smile on his face, all the while wondering what happened to the other. The two always traveled together after all. He figures he'll meet the black haired man later in the evening after this dating event ended. He's a romantic at heart he tells himself, it's why he signed up and even if there was nobody to share the evening with, he figures he'll still enjoy the night. He can guess it's also why the other red haired man joined the event as well. Both were searching for something so simple, but almost inevitable.
His date, a woman familiar to him, or so he thinks. He's a bit too confident this evening. And so he makes the first move knowing exactly who's behind the mask. A cheesy pickup line, what brought the two together in the first place ought to have been a good start up, and so he begins. This story only a preface to the tragic comedy that's about to ensue. Each actor has their role to play and the stage isn't quite set yet. "Baby, your body is 75% water and I'm hella thirsty."
As the words leave his lips he hears screaming from another room two familiar voices. Internally the man swears glancing at the other red head wondering what they should do. Red meets red quickly as he looks over, the screams follow shattering. leaving the man's glance to fill with worry. Even without words his expression says it all. We fucked all the way up.
Human's aren't the only actors in this play no, A Scizor stands behind his trainers table far more curious as to what's going on in the other room. It's piercing yellow eyes watch the other room tired of this farce already. It wants to go, and sadly it's not a patient pokemon.
Sam would actually just sit there in stunned silence for a brief moment. The person who sat down was...was...a little girl? Nonono this can't be right. There must have been some kind of mistake or something.
Or it was a prank, hell it was probably something Cain set up. He was gonna go hide Cain's weed or something for revenge after this. It took him a moment to snap back into things and realize that the kid was holding her hand out for him to shake it.
Even then he probably could just blame his lack of response on the giant plate of food in front of her. Claim that he could barely see around it or something, yeah that should work. Not wanting to be anymore rude then he already was being Sam would slowly reach forward to shake her hand. Raising an eyebrow slightly before saying.
"I'm Sam...are you sure they had you come to the right place? This doesn't really seem like the kind of thing a kid should be here for.."
This was the type of event she would always love, albeit a little more former than her liking but forgotten all the same once she entered the grand hall of the gala. It was the socializing she enjoyed, the amount of people around her -- all of which holding their own stories, their own lives -- and they were all people she wanted to meet. Strange enough she had been born a social butterfly of sorts, one who didn’t stray from small talk with strangers (actually, quite enjoyed it) while her brother was the opposite. One who strayed from the crowd, from conversation outside of those he didn’t know -- so she wasn’t surprised at the matter of dragging (quite literally) her little brother into the ball.
She had been ushed into the dating room, an event she had happily signed herself up for not to score a date but familiarize herself with others traveling around Hoenn. It had seemed she had been at her table first, happily kicking her feet as she sat, waiting to see who exactly this Miles would be. When the name had been given she was, to say, at least mildly disappointed with what chance had given her -- but at least it would be fun just to talk. What she had expected was a boy to come to her and greet with a name, maybe even a simply awkward hello or wave as she envisioned her brother doing, but what she got was much different.
A pick up-line.
Her eyes blinked, her head turning in the direction of the voice -- and she stared, baffled by what had just been said to her; and this moment the clarity of her sexual preference shown bright behind the man. “Did… Did you really just…” her words escaped her, a rare moment for a woman who had always had too much to say. She felt offered. It was cute at best, worth a small chuckle and awkward glance to the side but that was it. She was far too sober to deal with this.
It took a second to push her heels against the floor, slide her chair from its position at the table and stand -- and with a quick movement of her arm she sends a solid punch in the direction of the man's face. Maybe if she was lucky she could give him a black eye, or even split his lip just a bit -- and if not, a punch in the face was still a punch in the face. “What the fuck kind of opening line was that?” she said, eyes narrowed at the man, “you’re like one of those assholes who whistle at woman on the street aren’t you?”

She started kicking her feet under the table, as a child would at their desk in school. "My mom watches a lot of cheesy bachelor shows, so I think I know how this works. You gotta give me a rose, then I gotta say... er, I say things I like, right? And then you get me the things I like." Fidel grabbed a french fry that was simply armored with cheese. Not coated, armored. The thing could tank a Hyper Beam and be fine. She promptly ate it and let it's cheesy goodness take over.[break][break]
"Mmmm." Swallow. "I guess I'll say what I like, and you can give me a rose later. I like... er, Pokemon. And I like the color orange! I especially like Magikarp, who came with me today. Say hi, Magikarp!" On cue, an orange fish jumped from the floor into the air, enough to make itself visible to Sam. With a quick 'Karp!', it descended back to the floor and landed with a loud plop.

A tragic comedy indeed. The curtain rises on this joke of a play. His pickup line is met with a swift and severe comeback. That being a swift punch to his right eye. His chair rocks back the red haired trainer finding himself on the floor. The crash leaves silence in its wake. He feels his eye swelling up almost immediately, and with it anger growing. He snarls at the girl already tense, thanks in part to the room beside their own. "What the actual fuck SYNDRA!" He swears loudly clutching his eye. "Arceus." He cups the injured organ with his free hand his seeing eye glaring at the girl he thought he was enamored with. "What the fuck do you even mean!" His anger justifiable entirely. "I thought we were cool and then you pull this shit We already have the angry fucking homo in the other room stomping someone's face in!" He's too angry to even notice the girl has a different voice entirely than the other green haired woman. Another crash from the room beside manages to grab his attention momentarily, "I swear on Basil's life if that dirtbag fuck gets us kicked out."
The black haired man is in trouble, and despite the white suited man's anger for some reason unbeknownst to him or really anybody at all he feels responsible for the very angry very abused gay. As does the other red head in the room he's sure. However Syndra and this sudden change in her personality wouldn't let him off the hook so easily of course. "Look I can't fucking do this right now I have a class gay emergency. Evan, lets g-". It's at this moment the poor red headed man knows there's no real going back. He watches the girls bun of hair fall to the ground the sound of a single swipe his crimson red pokemon directly directly behind the woman. "Oh shit.
40 seconds prior....
This was the bug pokemon's chance. As the crashes and screaming intensified in the other room the blade pokemon only became more interested. All he needed now was an excuse for him and his trainer to leave, only steps away from freedom. He watches the red headed human say something that he'll regret forever on as it leaves his trainer floored his eye busted entirely. The Scizor on one end wants to laugh, shaking his head at the trainer, but sees this as an opportunity for something far more worthwhile. An opportunity for something amazing. If it couldn't go to the party, he'd just have to make his own party.
The blade pokemon was nothing if not detested most humans. And so when a chance to obstruct one arose there were no questions or doubts in the pokemons mind. And so while the two were arguing screaming at each other the blade pokemon casually moved behind the girl targeting one of those poofy looking buns that sat atop her head. A perfect target. With a swipe of his claw and a snip or two here and there the pokemon lobbed off a sizeable amount of the girls hair. Snickering all the while.
The hair fell to the ground and once again the trainer swears once again the first act of the evening at its close. the curtain drops on the blade pokemon it's smirk wider than it'd ever been. The trainer can't help but think.
it was nice to not be recognizable under the shade of his mask. benji adjusted it over and over again, the feathers tickling his ears awkwardly. he could only imagine it would have been worse if he had gone with a ho-oh mask or something... either way, the swanna mask worked well enough for him. there was a visible contrast between his skin, hair, and mask, and it looked put together with his suit.
the annoying part was probably having to keep one arm out at all times so that arthur could sit comfortably on it like a perch. the hoothoot was wide awake this evening, tilting from side to side in a constant rhythm while benji watched him, a small packet of treats tucked in his inner pocket to pacify the hoothoot if necessary. he kept his eyes looking around the place, not sure why he had signed himself up for speed dating, but he guessed the social exposure was nice. his agent would have hurried him into it anyway. she liked this sort of nonsense.
there wasn't much time to meet this person, and benji had yet to meet them anyway. he kept his eyes moving, just in case he managed to catch their eye so that they'd start some conversation.
He’d come to this thing out of pure chance and if he was being honest with himself, he’d just wanted to see what the big deal was. He wasn’t the biggest fan of suits and gala’s but he supposes there was nothing really wrong with doing it once in a while especially if he got to take a pokemon along for the ride. His gaze fell sideways and gray eyes caught the curious gaze of his Glameow, the feline letting out a soft mewl as she bumped her head against his leg affectionately before continuing forward. Yami chuckled softly before his gaze sought out the voice calling for him until he found the other male, blonde and looking rather lively. He let out a puff of laughter, briefly touching the Glameow mask on his face before gesturing towards the male. “After you then.”
He gave a little tug on to the mask before plopping down in a seat, giving the male a once over before allowing a crooked smile to curl his lips. “You here just for the food or to actually speed date?” He wasn’t actually interested in the speed dating part of this whole night but he figured he might as well enjoy all aspects of it considering. Plus who knew maybe he’d actually find someone who caught his eyes, it’d been a while since he actually dated anyone. Machiko let out a content purr and hopped into his lap, rubbing against his chest as she watched the other human. Letting out another chuckle Yami scratched her right behind the ear where she liked it best.

nat was starting to feel like she might have underdressed some. her dress a plain sleeveless one with a trailing sheer black end, strappy heels clicking on the floor while she clutched her purse tightly. her makeup was minimal and she had her hair pulled up into a bun. part of her felt pretty, part of her wanted to crawl back into bed and never come out again. honestly, dressing up like this was exhausting. she'd rather be tucked in her jeans and a pair of slippers or sneakers, hat brimming her head. it felt best when natural son baked her skin, not the artificial lights dangling from a chandelier.
at least the place was pretty and the food was good. natalie sipped at a glass of wine, peering from beneath her ninetales mask for whoever this sebastian guy was. she didn't recognise anyone, not with their masks on anyway. when a stranger approaches her, she smiled. "sebastian, right? i'm natalie."
