welcome to calamity! we are an au pokemon site based in hoenn. we do not have canons so you can pick them as your fcs! we have a short one hundred word word count. and you get to also pick your own starter! calamity is going to focus on providing users with a good and stable plot line to follow. this helps each character progress and some might even have a play in affecting the plot! we hope you enjoy your time here and if you have any questions don't be afraid to ask.

hello calamity! we're nearing the two months mark in a few weeks. how time flies! right now we have two things going on that need your participation. the first is an activity check! it is impotant that you check in so you don't lose your face claim. the second is the otm nomiations! we're doing it a bit different than last time. so please submit your nominations in. a vote thread will be up in the next few days. there will also be a formal event coming very soon, so keep your eye out for that. keep being cool!
we're currently about to host calamity's first contest in slatepor. trainers are flocking to the city to see, the city's been trying to get good pr since the gala, and it seems to be working! they're asking for both coordinators and volunteer judges to sign up.

Usa scurried up the front steps of the building. A fire burned in his eyes. He was determined to challenge the gym leader and win. Knocking twice before pushing the building doors open, he yelled out to announce his arrival. As he made his way inside, he tugged on the ends of his jacket to straighten it, and then combed his hair back. He wanted to look at least somewhat presentable for his first gym battle.
Is anybody here? His voice was gentle, but still had a hint of confidence. I would like to challenge your gym! As he slowly made his way further inside, his eyes searched his surroundings for the slightest movement. Is the gym leader on holidays today, or something?
norman walks out into the gym. someone has entered. he's excited to see the prospective trainers earn their first badges. they are always either cocky, scared to death, or somewhere in between. sometimes both.
he grins at the person across the stage. "alright, welcome challenger." he throws out a pokeball. sentret rises from it's place, ready for a battle.
A man who Usa quickly recognized from magazines he had read, confidently enters the gym. Usa's eyes widened with excitement as he braced himself for what was to come. It's him. He's the gym leader. Norman! My first gym battle is about to start... Usa could barely contain himself.
He quickly dipped his head and introduced himself. He then franticly reached for the pokeballs of the three Pokemon he had planned to use in the match. Thank you for accepting my challenge sir, he yelled as he slid the first of the three Pokemon's pokeball into one hand. Mankey, Absol and Zubat were to be the three Pokemon he would use in his first gym battle.
Upon seeing Norman send out his first Pokemon, a smile grew on Usa's face from cheek to cheek. He quickly followed suit by sending out his first as well. From a bright light, Mankey emerged ready to battle. The little pig monkey flung his fists up and down as if he was banging on a keyboard. Alright Mozart, let's show Norman your strength. Use leer and then follow up with low kick! Mankey's eyes began to glow as his glare became intensified. Soon after, he dashed towards the opposing Sentret to carry out a low kick...
Blooooop. As soon as the low kick connected Sentret would simply flop over onto its side, making a noise similar to a bloop sound once it hit the ground. Sentret laid there for a moment before struggling back up to her feet, she may be down but she wasn't out yet! Good thing for her that Low Kick did more damage with the more they weight.
And she had just started a new diet recently! Plus Sentrets weren't very heavy at all to start with. "Alright Sentret, go for two scratch attacks!" Norman called out, giving the normal type it's instructions.
Which it gladly went through with, charging the Mankey head on. Before diving in with her claws pointed at the Mankey, planning to go for two scratch attacks.
Petalburg City Gym Battle Well, that was interesting... Usa watched the opposing Pokemon's movements intently. He figured a fighting-type move would be enough to bring the normal-type down, especially after a leer, but the Sentret was still rearing to go. It even managed to counterattack with a scratch, which, due to the force of attack, made Mankey drop to his knees.
That looked like it did a lot of damage... Usa's body stiffened as he watched the opposing Pokemon raise its hand for another scratch attack. Without any further thought, he called out for Mankey to dodge. Without hesitation, the pig monkey used his hands and tail to push himself off his knees. He then used his feet to spring into the air and out of the way of the Sentret's scratch.
Use covet and then follow up with another low kick... The little monkey complied. After launching himself into the air, he came crashing down with a covet attack.
Sentret would blink as Mankey launched himself into the air. Surprised that a pokemon could get that high off of one jump. However thanks to Sentret standing there in awe like an idiot Mankey would come right down on top of it, hitting it with the covet attack. Sentret falling onto its back from the attack, only to hurry up and roll back onto its stomach and scurry out of the way of the Low Kick. Successfully dodging that job.
"Not bad." Norman called out with a smirk, staring at Usa to let him know that the not bad comment was for his performance and not Sentret's. "But you won't win that easy, Sentret! Scratch some more!" The man then called out, Sentret immediately springing into action and charging forward, going for two scratch attacks.
Petalburg City Gym Battle Noticing how much damage the Sentret's last attack seemed to do to Mnakey, Usa called out for the fighting-type to dodge the Sentret's scratch. However, after dodging Mankey's low kick, the Sentret was in the perfect position to launch a counter attack. Mankey was hit by scratch, and a tremendous amount of damage was done. Luckily, however, the second Mankey was able to dodge the second scratch successfully.
But, now Mankey seemed not too far off from fainting. After flipping backward to dodge the second scratch, his movement appeared slower than it was before. The little monkey was also panting a lot more.
Usa knitted his brow as he yelled for Mankey to do another round of low kicks. This was a decisive moment, so he figured he might as well go all in.
This time Sentret wasn't able to get out of the way of either attack. Taking them both head on before toppling over, fainting from the Mankey's onslaught of attacks. "Not bad, not bad." Norman called out, returning the fainted Sentret.
"Heres the next one!" He added while tossing out another pokeball, this time a Litleo appearing from the ball. The Litleo staring at Mankey with a blank expression on her face as she appeared. "Alright Litleo, ember lets go!" Norman would then yell out, giving the Litleo its battle plans.
Litleo responding with a sharp nod before opening her mouth, sending two firey ember attacks in the Mankey's direction.
Petalburg City Gym Battle You did it! Usa roared in excitement. Even though he was clearly suffering from his injuries, the Mankey still managed to land his low kicks, and this impressed Usa. Great job Mo! he yelled, as he gave the tiny monkey a thumbs up.
He flashed Norman a smile and then braced himself for Norman's next Pokemon. A Litleo, huh? Looks strong... He contemplated whether to return Mankey to his Pokeball. But, before he could even get the pokeball from his pocket, Litleo was on the move firing embers at Mankey. Too tired to move out of the way, the little monkey had no choice but to be pelted by the tiny flames. As Mozart fell to the ground, he held his fist up to cheer Usa on in the fight towards victory.
Usa's face took on a somber expression. Thank you Mo... he whispered as he returned the Pokemon to his pokeball.
The next Pokemon he would use for the battle, was Dani, the Zubat. As soon as she was out of her pokeball, Usa ordered her to attack with wing attack. The little bat flapped her wings vigorously, making her way towards the opposing Litleo...
As Zubat fluttered in for the wing attacks Litleo would take the first attack head on, being pushed back a bit from the impact but not toppling over. She was ready for this! Once the second Wing Attack came in however Litleo would jump out of the way, narrowly dodging the attack.
"Excellent work Litleo." Norman said before looking over at his challenger, noticing the somber look on his face. "No need to feel bad, Mankey put up one hell of a battle!" Norman called out, trying to help cheer the challenger up. Litleo on the other hand would look back at her trainer for battle commands. "Huh, alright then Litleo, same as before!"
Litleo nodded at the order before opening her mouth up once again, firing two more ember attacks at the Zubat.
Petalburg City Gym Battle The gym leader's words of encouragement brought he smile to Usa's face. He nodded in the man's direction as he hummed a "thank you".
His focus quickly returned to the battle. By now, Litleo had fired embers at Zubat, prompting Usa to yell "dodge". Though Zubat was able to evade the first round of ember, Litleo's anticipation of her movements, in the second round of ember, caused her to be hit by the attack. The tiny bat quickly shook of the flames, however, and prepared herself to carry out Usa's next command.
Use wing attack again...and again, Usa yelled, as he pointed in the direction of Litleo.
"Move Litleo!" Norman called out as the Zubat came in for a series of Wing Attacks. Litleo being able to jump out of the way of the first Wing Attack, only to be caught mid jump by the second one. The force of said attack sending Litleo flying a bit, the little lion cub smacking into the ground. Before eventually struggling back up to her feet.
Once she was standing back up Litleo would already go on the offensive, firing off two more ember attacks at the Zubat, not bothering to wait for orders. Thinking she had this battle under control already.
Petalburg City Gym Battle The round was underway, and Zubat seemed fired up. Litleo pelted her with embers, which sent the poison-type crashing to the ground.
Recover with roost, Dani...Usa yelled. The little bat quickly complied. Her body began to glow as she tucked her wings in and planted herself firmly on the ground. She emerged from the light, soon after, seemingly fully recovered from the attacks she previously received. The little bat began to flap her wings vigorously to regain her altitude. As soon as she was high enough in the air, Usa called out for her to use another wing attack. The tiny bat lunged at her opponent. Once again, he wings stiffened as she made her way towards the opposing Pokemon. As soon as she was close enough, she swung a wing to strike the Pokemon down.
Unable to dodge this time Litleo would get hit head on with the wing attack, the Zubat scoring a lucky critical hit with it! Knocking Litleo out cold! "You did good bud." Norman said as he returned Litleo, before tossing out his next pokemon, that pokemon of course being Slakoth.
"Ready Slakoth? Lets start with the usual!" Norman called out, the Slakoth responding with a nod. Before letting out a loooong yawn, trying to make the Zubat fall asleep. Before taking off surprisingly quick, going for a feint attack on the Zubat!
Petalburg City Gym Battle Dani performed better than Usa could have ever imagined. The little bat never seemed to disappoint him. But, Norman's Slakoth looked strong, and Usa worried that she might be out powered. He made up his mind to sub the little bat out.
But, before that, might as well get some damage in... He called out for the bat to use a few wing attacks once more, but before she could carry out her attack, the Slakoth spat tiny clear bubbles, which filled the battle field. She was unable to avoid it. Likewise, she was unable to avoid the feint attack that seemed to come out of nowhere.
Try to shake it off, Dani! Usa's voice was firm and powerful. The little battle quickly did as he said, and lunged at her opponent with her wings stiffened. Good job Dani. Hit it with Wing Attack!
But, something was wrong. The Zubat's movements seemed slower. As the flapping of her wings slowed, he yawned. Her altitude slowly dipped.
