After the summer gala event, Sylvester had stumbled upon a man whose relative was in the same building at the time of the summer gala. As a token of his gratitude after Sylvester informed him of his efforts to stop Team Magma, the elderly man presented him with a gift that would be of use to his pokemon—a lucky egg. After further discussing it with the man, Sylvester discovered what exactly the potential behind this gift actually was. 'Time to put it to use...'
POKENAV TEXT
With Flint already out of his pokeball and standing next to him, they both stood there leaning against a tall maple tree as they waited for Dmitri to either respond with declining the offer, or for him to show up on the route in the distance. 'I hope he is somewhere nearby so I don't have to wait so long.'
Blaze - Lv.25 - Healthy Lucky Egg Equipped Flint is on standby!

Ack, I'll have to backtrack after coming this far... Still, it was the perfect opportunity to come and try to reclaim some of his reputation. Dmitri couldn't pass up an opportunity like this, so he came trudging back through the area to try and find Sylvester. He could see his rival's figure in the distance, a single glimpse and he could recognize the lanky, gloomy dude anywhere. Oh no, it's that bloody chicken...
"Combusken? One day you're going to rely on him for too much, and when he falls short, I hope I'm there to see it." That was his wounded ego talking; he almost wondered if this chicken knew how to lose. But there were stronger pokemon to be found day-by-day, so he knew it was just a matter of time. Still, none of his pokemon could quite withstand a fight with Combusken. Hoodini came close, but he wasn't particularly defensive. A few quick strikes could knock him out cold, regardless of his typing.
"I'll use Broski." Holding the pokeball out, he nudged the button and following a crimson flash the swinub came out in a flurry. Shaking off his fur, Broski stared at Combusken and snorted. This again!? It was starting to dishearten him, but he wouldn't give in to cowardice, not today. Now then,
"Alright then Broski, use Earthquake!" Broski jumped a few inches off the ground, concentrating his thoughts. When he landed, a localized tremor quaked the ground. W-woah... It was the first time he'd ever tried using the attack; he hadn't been ready to steady himself. "A-again!" This time he braced himself, watching as Broski slammed the ground once more, directing the seismic activity towards the Combusken. I didn't realize...
"Yeah! Get 'em, Broski!" ...That you've become this strong. Dmitri was in mild shock, but proud.

Sylvester and his Combusken were awed by the devastation the Swinub's attack wreaked, but the pose his pokemon took was one of defiance. "Flint, dodge the first wave!" Jumping into the air, the fractured earth rippled below him, unable to bring the Combusken any harm. However, the second one was already headed his way as Flint landed his feet back on the ground, tossing him aside as his claws and talsons dug into the earthy terrain. "Busken!" It wasn't a cry of pain, but instead the bird went into a frenzy. He screamed and flailed, hurling himself forward towards the foe Swinub as fast he could.
"Double-kick!" The Combusken leaped forward after it pivoted on it's lead foot, rotating itself as it flung towards the Swinub, a frenzied cyclone of harsh kicks aimed straight for the head of the brown ball of fur. Even Sylvester was a little worried with how angry Flint had gotten, his resolve seemingly relentless. "Ken! Ken! Ken! Ken!" He swirled about, screaming furiously with each kick he unleashed upon the unfortunate target of his...

Awh... Dammit! Gasping for a second, he realized it was still an uphill battle for Broski. "Ice Shard!" It collided with the first set of kicks and dodging them with ease. It wasn't quite within his grasp, but he could tell he stood a chance abusing the speed Broski had suddenly picked up on.
"Broski, Endure!" I need to get a read on how strong this Combusken really is... Broski scrunched into a ball and essentially played chicken, but he refused to budge. He gave literally zero concern with the incoming swipes, though they ended up sending him backwards and onto his back.
...Broski? "Hey, you... alright?" Nope. It seemed the attack would've fainted him, for he devastated Broski. But he merely lie there, motionless, perturbed by the situation. Time and time again, he'd failed to stop the bloody chicken. It would make his ancestors shamefully disappointed; he couldn't tolerate it.
Swi....! He stood up, oinking in protest. No! He would not go down without a final attack! He started charging for Flint, red in his eyes, prepared to gum him to death if his minute tusks wouldn't suffice. He sprang along the ground, around the fissures and after the bloody chicken, meeting it head on...

"Dodge that ice attack." Observing the valiant efforts of Dmitri's Swinub, Sylvester noticed that the pokemon had made use of a move that would allow it to prolong it's conscious state before it could be taken down. Flint seemed to realize that Swinub was on his last leg, so-to-speak, and waited for the proper moment to unleash his strike. 'Wait for it...' The Swinub suddenly came within melee range.
"Use double-kick now!" Coming out with much vigor, Flint seemed to kick with everything he had and more, slamming his heel down for Swinub after leaping out to meet his foe in close-quarters combat. "Again!" It appeared likely the the battle would be decided in the moments to come...

Dmitri looked on as Swinub, defying any order or instinct, rushed headlong towards the Combusken. Has he gone mad!? His piggy instincts shouted to charge him, to mete justice out of the bloody chicken for the sake of his ancestors. SWINAAAAAAAWB! Dmitri was almost moved to tears.
"Broski!" Was it a cheer? A cry for concern? Dmitri watched helplessly as Broski flew face-first into a flrry of sweeping blows by Flint, sending him crashing backwards across the ground. Swii!~ Swii! Swi! For every bounce across the ground he winced, giving a short squeal before sliding to Dmitri's feet. Broski refused to give Dmitri eye contact before fainting.
...Buddy? Scooping him up into his arms, he stood up and gave a short bow to Sylvester. "That's it for today. Broski needs some time off." Plucking its pokeball back from his belt, he brushed the button gently with his finger and tucked Broski safely away 'til he could reach a pokemon center.
"One of these days..." It wasn't a direct statement to Sylvester; it was more a promise to himself as he merely stood there, his head hung low. Why wouldn't Broski look at me... He clutched at his chest, wondering if Broski was ashamed of himself or Dmitri. Either answer tore at his core.
This is usually where Sylvester says something to try and keep me optimistic... Cue optimism, despite how much it would only serve to prove how redundant and how colossal a failure he'd turned out to be. Damn that chicken... Dammit all!

Watching the Swinub of Dmitri's continue giving it's all, he felt rather bad when Combusken came out on top, the Swinub bouncing against the ground back towards his trainer and squealing with every contact made against the earth. Sylvester did not smile when Dmitri accepted the defeat, instead recalling his pokemon back inside it's own respective pokeball...
"Broski fought well. I fear if he had used one more earthquake that Flint may not have been the victor." Though all optimism aside, Sylvester was glad his Combusken did. Mostly because of the fact that winning was the purpose of the lucky egg he had his pokemon holding onto. "That aside, it was still a good match. Thanks for coming." He would have reached to Dmitri for a handshake, but he could tell he may have injured Dmitri's pride.
"Just remember...there will always be a next time." Even Sylvester was waiting for the time he'd be able to defeat the other, more experienced trainers of Hoenn region. Dmitri would have his own chances, and if he played hic cards right, Sylvester could very well be his next victim. It was better to let these comes to pass on their own, than to expect or take them for granted. "I should get going, though, and you should too. Our pokemon could use a visit to the pokemon center." At least he felt so, having noticed just how much energy their pokeon had both spent battling...

"I'm proud of how well Broski did." It's me I'm worried about. First it was Hoodini, often refusing to obey commands merely because he felt Dmitri couldn't be trusted. Now even Broski, his staunchest supporter, seemed to abandon him. Or at least refused to recognize him. He'd raised them as well as he thought possible, and yet they still grew to resent him somehow. I'm trying Broski, honestly...
Maybe he shouldn't have become a trainer. Maybe he should've stayed home and helped his family with the breeding business. Time and time again he discovered the inadequacy of his training capabilities, against amateur and experienced trainers alike. Kids and adults beat him just the same. Dmitri was no contest for anybody.
"I'll be seeing you... later." He stalked off without another thought. Brooding wasn't his style, but this was a festering sensation of guilt and inferiority that gripped him. Flipping into his phone, he tried texting Usa to distract himself. But his status read do not disturb. What a bother, he's busy...
