hello calamity! we're nearing the two months mark in a few weeks. how time flies! right now we have two things going on that need your participation. the first is an activity check! it is impotant that you check in so you don't lose your face claim. the second is the otm nomiations! we're doing it a bit different than last time. so please submit your nominations in. a vote thread will be up in the next few days. there will also be a formal event coming very soon, so keep your eye out for that. keep being cool!
we're currently about to host calamity's first contest in slatepor. trainers are flocking to the city to see, the city's been trying to get good pr since the gala, and it seems to be working! they're asking for both coordinators and volunteer judges to sign up.

OUR FLAWS LAY HAND IN HAND
Well, this probably wasn't the nicest idea Calvin had in mind... but it would get the job done. Calvin intended to return back to route 101 to pick on the weaker trainers, he figured that all trainers come here to get their starter pokemon, so it would be perfect to train his Grimer. He waited patiently, leaning on a tree, waiting for a poor soul to step out into the 'dangerous' area.
His Grimer was standing/sitting (he wasn't entirely sure what his grimer was doing half the time) next to him. His purple body wobbling around like jelly, he was making a variety of squishing, gurgling and squelching noises.
Calvin rested his hand on his head, "For the last time, will you please shut up."
His Grimer started to quieten down, but the excitement of seeing another trainer made him wobble around again.
Calvin quickly shouted out to the man, "Oi! You! You know how this works right? Two trainers meet, they make eye contact bla bla bla. So yeah, what I'm trying to say is, you gotta fight me."

There he was- he had just been accepted this very day as a Ranger. Earlier today, he had gone into the forest to look for his favorite little wild pokemon, maybe to ask it to be his companion, accompany him on his ranger duties. A little buneary he had named Lepus.... only to find that his little friend had risen to the constellations- the little rabbit had fallen prey to another creature of the wilderness, a gligar- a violent little gligar at that.
but now, that gligar wouldn't leave him alone- at least, in the long run, he wouldn't. the gligar wouldn't listen to a single word Artemus said, would constantly disobey and walk away from Artemus, but any time he would give up and actually let the gligar have it's way and leave, the gligar always followed him back-
mainly because the gligar liked the snacks Artemus would give it.
Just now he was trying to get the gligar to go into another direction, but the massive pink creature was not restrained by Artie's weak noodle arms in the slightest. With artie clinging onto Scorpio's tail and being pulled along behind the scorp-bat, he whined and pleaded at his new companion to listen to him.
"c'mon, Scorpio!! this is a route, we gotta take the woods around or else we'll run into-" The ranger paused and flinched slightly as he heard someone call out to him.
"Gli??"
"... a-a trainer..."
"Garrrrr...." Scorpio gave a low, deep growl as he pulled in his tongue and showed only his sharp, bloodstained fangs.
"I-i'm sorry, i'm.. i'm not a trainer. I'm a ranger.. I don't like fighting, and i don't have pokemon- at least, not in pokeballs... I can't battle you, i'm afraid." The boy tried to plead... but his pokemon had different plans.
"GLIGAR!!" He shouted at his companion, giving him a stern look, then his intense yellow eyes focused on the grimer, and he gave a wicked grin. clicking his claws in a vicious manner, he showed he was ready to fight.
"w-wait, scorpio, no!" he tried to correct his pokemon, but there was no stopping Scorpio when he was ready to fight.
"Gar, gar, gar!" he held his claws up in front of him- motioning to the grimer, he said to the other pokemon. "bring it on!"

Calvin kept narrowed on eyes on this 'ranger' but at the same time, he acted quite careless about the whole situation. He noticed his pokemon, a gligar, a feisty one as well. Grimer just sat there wobbling around, useless as ever but something was different, it looked like his grimer actually wanted to fight.
Calvin scoffed, "Trainer or not, you're still allowed to battle. Well, I didn't expect any less from a begginer like yourself."
That's when he noticed the gligar again, it really did want to fight, whether his trainer wanted to or not, Gligar was signalling Grimer to make the first move.
"Well, OK Grimer, use poison gas, make it double." ordered Calvin, inspecting his nails and not even bothering to look up.
Grimer was just stood there, his arms tucked away and his mouth wide open, he was just bobbing up and down. But this time, he was gonna bob differently! Oh yeah! Grimer was gonna bob left and right rather than up and down! That should please his new trainer... right?
He then heard Calvin's orders and stopped bobbing, ~Ok Venom, time for a serious bob!~
He bobbed back and forth and back and forth, then a thick dark green gas blasted out his mouth, completely shrouding the area they were fighting in.
Grimer used Poison Gas x2! Grimer is pretty serious!

"wha- W-WAIT-" Artemus exclaimed. He was too late to stop his opponent from attacking. The poisonous gas shot out at Scorpio and Artemus, and while Scorpio seemed almost unfazed by it, Artemus began coughing and gagging like crazy- he went down on one knee as he tried to regain his breath- both he and his pokemon now had the purple blush on their face to signify they were sick.
Scorpio is poisoned!
Artemus is poisoned...?
"Gli! Gar......" Scorpio growled with a grimace, as the poison was already starting to cause damage... but no, that's not what he was growling about. He could care less about his own pain. He looked back at his trainer, who was gagging from the poison- and was now poisoned just the same. His trainer was hurt. And now, he was burning with rage. "You... hurt my trainer!"
Slamming his tail into the ground, he flung himself high into the air- with no wind, he wouldn't be going far, but he took a moment to get an arial advantage as he spread out his wings to glide.
"Scorpio! use... umm.. what moves would a gligar know? u-um- poison sting!!" Artemus commanded with a hoarse voice.
The bat would only look back at his trainer for a brief moment before making a noise in his teeth.
"Tch! Gli... GliiiGAR!!" the pokemon exclaimed as it pulled in it's wings- it held it's claws in front of it's face, crossing them over one another- going into a nosedive at the grimer, his claws began to glow purple. "You're gonna PAY!!"
"Wha..?" Artemus didn't know what was going on. He had yet to even see a single move from his gligar- else than having dirt flung in his face earlier... and the move he was using now definitely wasn't poison sting.
"GAAAAARRRRR!!!!" Scorpio roared at the grimer as he finally let off his attack- Two glowing purple X's formed as he crossed his claws, and they went right for the grimer. The move was Cross Poison- And he did it twice, for good measure.
Scorpio used Cross Poison! x2

Calvin scoffed, honestly, what kind of idiot would stand in the middle of a poison gas attack? And what kind of idiot doesn't even know what moves their pokemon has? Calvin smirked and spoke with a hint of sarcasm, "You're a ranger right? Hah, you're gonna be brilliant."
Calvin watched as the gligar got angrier and angrier, this pokemon was incredibly violent... Calvin had no idea why (probably the fact his pokemon poisoned Artemus). Calvin smiled at the pokemon's rage, he loved every bit of it, its power, its determination.
Then came the attack, cross poison, Calvin had seen it used lots on TV before, but he never thought he'd see it used by such a small pokemon such as gligar.
"Ok Venom, dodge it." Calvin said with a relaxed, perhaps careless voice.
The first cross came down and his Grimer did something rather odd, rather than moving out the way, his whole body split in half, making a big 'O' shape in his belly... The attack went straight through him. It didn't last long however, as his body started closing up, the next attack hit him... barely doing damage, but still hitting him.
Calvin used this moment to get Grimer to attack, "Now Venom, dont stop using pound!"
Well, Grimer never usually, did this, but today he would make an exception. He opened his mouth as wide as he could, splitting his body in half to form an opening. The cross poison flew straight threw him, but unfortunately, the next one hit. It wasn't the poison that hurt him, just the force of the blow.
Grimer now had new orders, and grimer would do those as best as he could! He wobbled forwards, then stretched his body super long into the air, with his big gooey fists, he would strike out at the Gligar in mid-air, aiming to smash him to the ground.
Venom dodged Cross Poison! Venom was hit by Cross Poison! It wasn't very effective... Venom used Pound x2! Dodges 1/2

"He's not mine! i haven't even captured him yet, that's why he wont listen! I tried to tell you!!" Artemus exclaimed at the boy who wrecklessly started the battle. suddenly, artemus cringed, clutching his stomach as he gave a gagging cough yet again.
Scorpio Winced as well, taking some damage from the poisoning, purple bubbles rising around him. He could care less about his own pain, he was worried about Artemus. Scowling at Grimer with death in his eyes, he didn't dare dodge the first hit- instead, he quickly slammed his tail to the ground, sticking his stinger into the dirt, then he spread his arms wide, letting the grimer land a pound, right on his chest- the grimer's pathetic blobby fist was nothing to the fly-scorp's thick shell. He gladly took the damage, being knocked back, but before he could be slammed to the ground by the hit, he tensed up the muscles in his tail- He halted, then arched back up, swinging up swiftly back at Venom like a bop bag- The second pound that was coming his way he smacked the arm away with a glowing purple claw, as he aimed to sink another Cross Poison into the grimer's blobby hide. Hitting this up close and personal, it could very well deal critical damage.
He gave a intimidating grin, His beady eyes meeting with Calvin as the Trainer admired his violence. No. He wasn't just violent. Just by the glint in his eyes, it was obvious this gligar was sadistic, it was disturbed. It very well could be rabid, even.
"Gaaar... Gligar! Garharharhar!" the creature gave a cruel sounding laugh. Hurting this pokemon, it was pleasing, but it wasn't enough... this pokemon has his 'trainer' in pain. There was only one way to settle the score.
Dropping to his feet and yanking his tail out of the ground, he took his attention totally off the grimer. Dashing around the blob, it readied another cross poison- but this one, he was charging right for Calvin.
"SCORPIO, NO! DONT!!" Artemus exclaimed, having no chance of stopping the wild gligar himself. He fumbled to grab his styler, which already seemed partly damaged, readying to launch it, but he couldn't do anything to capture him in the middle of an attack. "LOOK OUT!!"

The Gligar was successfully hit (kind of) and was sent towards the ground, it didn't hit the floor, but it was still hit. The Gligar then smashed into Venom with a glowing purple claw, dealing a large amount of damage to him and sending Grimer sliding backwards, dodging the second blow. Then, something happened that Calvin never would have expected. The Gligar was heading towards him... He could see the anger in it's eyes, the fury in its movement. It left all its defences open.
Without even asking, Grimer perked up, jumping past Calvin aiming to crash into the Gligar from the side, intercepting him. With Grimer's sticky hold, Venom could easily stop the Gligar from hitting Calvin and hold the Gligar on the ground. Calvin was still standing there, cool as a cucumber, "Pound the shit out of that little fucker."
Grimer nodded with approval, raising both arms and aiming straight for Scorpio's face, double that with the poison, and the pokemon was in for a world of hurt.
Venom was sent sprawling across the floor from a powerful cross poison attack, luckily the force of that blow allowed him to dodge the next attack. He laid there on the ground, watching as the Gligar flew straight towards Calvin. He had to do something!
With a big push, Gligar to his left and Calvin to his right, he launched himself off the ground, aiming to intercept Gligar and shove him to the ground. He raised both of his heavy gooey fists and struck down towards its face.
Grimer was hit by Cross Poison! Critical Hit! It's not very effective... Grimer used Pound x2! Dodges 0/2

Artemus seemed to cringe when he saw his gligar going for the trainer- but to be fair, artemus has been cringing to every hit throughout the battle. He just really, really hated violence. He heard the slight "goop" noise of the grimer jumping onto Scorpio, and opened his eyes to see that the attack was intercepted. thank goodness. now, he was ready, he needed to stop the fight, finally capture the gligar- hopefully it wasn't able to damage his styler again.
"Capture on- g-gack!" He was about to launch it when the poison hit him again. he collapsed to his knees, dropping his styler and holding his gut once more, all hunched over.. his condition was starting to look really bad, actually.
"Gli? Gligar!!" He was damaged by the poison as well, but he was distracted from his own pain by the cries of his trainer. He was so distracted he wasn't even looking to grimer as it landed a pound right on his face.
Critical hit!
Now, his attention back to the grimer, and Scorpio was fuming- but even he was sick of fighting. Like any smart wild pokemon, the gligar would continue his same routine- spamming the only good move he had. He crossed his arms in front of his face, taking the second pound to a claw- then, he unleashed two more cross poison attacks toward it, then rolling over to get the smaller and lighter blob of goo off of him, rushing to the side of his trainer.
"Gliiii... Gligar!!" Scorpio seemed upset. he was nudging Artemus, trying to make him stand up, but Artemus was in too much pain- humans weren't meant to receive poison attacks, it affected them much more harshly. Only one thing resulted in the shaking of his friend, and that was Artemus spilling his lunch... But it was already coming up, anyhow.
"Gli..." his eyes shifted to calvin. They were still burning with rage. "Garrrrrrrrrrrr....."

Deep down, he sort of knew that Venom would succeed in intercepting, thanks to his blob-like body, he was swift and fast, making him excellent at dodging. He successfully smashed his fists into the Gligar, causing a moderate amount of damage for someone with his amount of experience.
But then, the other person was in a really bad condition. Throwing up and gagging, gross. Calvin grimaced at the sight of his lunch, "Please try and hold it in, I'd rather get through this battle without seeing what you had for lunch."
Honestly, what kind of moron would stand in the way of an attack like that? But then, something rather bad happened, two cross poisons had caught his Grimer off guard, smashing into him and sending bits of purple goo everywhere. Venom was no longer there! He was just little blobs of goo!
Luckily for Calvin, the Gligar seemed more interested in his owner. While the Gligar quickly checked on him, Calvin inspected his Grimer... Or grimers? Has he lost? Did his Grimer lose? Calvin was so confused, the blobs were still moving, thats a good sign right?
Grimer couldn't speak, his body was scattered all around route 101. This was odd, nothing like this has happened to him before...
he could still see the Gligar though, how it was staring at Calvin with pure hatred. Venom must save the day! Mustering up all his strength, he would use push his body back together and use two more pounds when the Gligar got close to Calvin...
Venom was hit by Cross Poison x2! It wasn't very effective... Venom used Pound x2!

Scorpio's ears twitched at hearing calvin's bitter words. he couldn't exactly understand everything he said, but he could tell it was crude words, he assumed towards his partner. Artemus couldn't even speak or stand because of what this trainer's pokemon did to him, and HE was the one being bitter?
Scorpio winced as the pain surged through his own body, and looked back to see Artemus suffering twice as bad. Enough was enough. The Gligar went to approach the other trainer, only to feel two pounds on his back- Only gritting his teeth at the hits, he looked back at the pokemon with a nasty glare. the dumb blob was barely holding itself together as it is. he didn't even need to waste his stronger moves anymore. he shot a cluster of poison sting at it from his mouth, then continued to approach calvin- now, his claws were glowing purple again, and surely that grimer couldn't possibly have enough strength to interfere again.
seeing how frail his human was, he wasn't gonna attack full force, but he was gonna make cal hurt. Suddenly breaking into a charge, there was no way he was gonna let calvin go for hurting artemus.
"Scorp... don't.." Artemus weakly pleaded.
Scorpio ignored him.
"... You won't get any more treats!"
Now scorpio froze in his tracks- he was literally about to slam into calvin with his attack, but he halted just before contact. the gligar now made a angry chitter noise in his throat, a bit annoyed, but the glow at his claws faded. "..... Gaar.."

Oh for goodness sake! Why did stuff like this always have to happen to him?! HE HAD DIRT UNDER HIS NAIL AND IT WAS SO ANNOYING!
Standing there, totally oblivious to what was actually happening, he was trying to get a bit of mud from underneath his thumb nail, that was the last time he goes gardening with his Grandma ever again! He was mumbling away to himself while his Grimer was busy pounding the Gligar.
"Aha! Finally!" Calvin said in relief.
When he turned around, his eyes widened when he saw the lethal pokemon with its purple claws shining next to Calvin. he raised an eyebrow, it's not everyday you see a pokemon that tries to kill a human. He smirked when the pokemon was told off by his trainer, a pokemon is a pokemon at the end of the day.
his Grimer on the oher hand, was in pretty bad shape, the little blobs rolled back to a main blob to reform the fainted pokemon. great.
Calvin strolled over, scowling at the useless blob, "Fucking useless." He kicked Venom before returning the filth back to its pokeball.
Grimer used every ounce of his strength to hit the Gligar. He was looking forward to see the look on Calvin's face when he saw what the poison type could do. ...But no, Calvin didn't even notice how much energy Venom put in, instead, he was busy inspecting his nails. A tear rolled down Grimer's ?cheek? as the poison sting hit him... He was useless, he couldnt do anything right, he might as well go back to he sewers and act like the piece of garbage he truly was.
Venom was hit by poison sting! It wasn't very effective... Venom fainted! Venom gained a level! Venom is so sad omg

Artemus had a thought pop into his head- wasn't he given a few full heals by recruitment office? He reached underneath his white coat and into a fanny pack- he did! he had 3! Now all he had to wonder.... would one work on himself? he used it- and it did! Finally, he was feeling better. now, he had to give one to scorpio. He finally stood, looking up- just in time to hear the words "fucking useless" being bitterly muttered, and see him kick his pokemon, before putting it in it's pokeball...
Seeing that made him feel worse than the poison did. The usually kind expression on his face twisted into an angry glare.
He calmly walked over to his pokemon, using the second full heal, then sticking the empty containers back in the fanny pack- he'd throw them away later, to avoid polluting the environment. That was something he'd never ever do.
"Actually.... nevermind. Go ahead, Scorpio. Give him all you got."
"G-Gli? Gligar?!" the pokemon gave a wild grin to Artemus, seemingly a bit in disbelief- When his partner gave him a nod, he chittered with excitement, giving a crude laugh. "Garharharharhar!!!"
Artemus pointed right to Calvin, the look in his eyes cold and remorseless. "Use Cross poison on that waste of space.. and make it double."
And for once since the start of the battle, Scorpio willingly listened to his partner, Dashing after Calvin with glowing purple claws.

Calvin watched rather bored as the man healed himself and his pokemon. He sighed, will his Grimer ever get strong? Probably not. Then someonething rather peculiar happened, the snotty little weasel of a man had ordered his pokemon to attack Calvin?! Rude.
Calvin tapped the button on his pokeball that was clipped to his waist, "Flaws, clean things up for me will ya? This pathetic excuse for a ranger is having a strop."
With an arc of red light, his Zorua appeared, he wasn't intending on using his pokemon but it looked like he'd have to for today. Flaws patiently waited for the Gligar to run over, then, he would defend Calvin by using pursuit and scratch. before he would do that however, he would dodge the first cross poison and inevitably get hit by the second.
Calvin snickered, "Waste of space? Me? May I remind you, the ranger, that you're attacking civilians... Let that sink in."
Flaws was utterly shocked, what kind of person would order their pokemon to attack a trainer?! Flaws snickered, this was going to be easy peasy.
Then, after attacking the Gligar, he would transform into Artemus, collapsing on the ground and pretending to cry, that would definately confuse the poor pokemon.
Flaws dodged Cross Poison! Flaws was hit by Cross Poison! Flaws used Pursuit! Flaws used Scratch! Dodges 1/2

"Tch! You have the guts to abuse your pokemon, but can't face the abuse when it comes your way, hm? pathetic." Artemus gave the Trainer a look of disgust. He wasn't expecting the rude trainer to have a second pokemon, but the point still stands. He was a piece of scum who held no respect for his pokemon, and he needed to be taught a lesson.
Scorpio did a quick dip to the side, avoiding the pursuit, but he couldn't avoid the scratch- it came down over his left eye, and it let out a hiss of pain- but it didn't attack. when the zorua transformed into artemus, he was confused for a moment, looking between the two and unsure which was which- but that was cleared up when artemus started talking again.
"Oh, It's sunk in alright... but i'd hardly consider you a civilian, there's nothing civil about you. Besides. I don't protect civilians.... I specifically protect pokemon. What you're doing to your grimer, it's unjust. if it's that fucking useless to you, then let it free, so it can at least be happy without your abuse.
Pokemon are not playthings, they're not little trinkets you can treat however! They are living beings just like you and me, all the pain, the emotions, everything we feel, they feel too! Just because they let you command them does not make them your property. If you really believe that pokemon are lower than you, then you have a lot to learn.
Your grimer, it did it's best for you. Even if it lost, it still gave all it had- plus, i could tell it's still fairly young, it has a lot of growing to do, but if you abuse it as such, it will never grow; if you care for it and train it, it will become strong, and even evolve. Your failure isn't because of your pokemon... it's because of your poor respect for them. If you continue like this, then surely you'll never succeed as a trainer!!"
"Gliii gar!" Scorpio 'agreed', crossing his arms in front of him- he wasn't continuing the fight. Because it was over. There was nothing left to fight about.

OUR FLAWS LAY HAND IN HAND
Ah damn! Where is his lighter? Calvin started rumaging around his pockets, he had a cigarette in his left hand, but he couldn't find the damn thing to light it! Completely oblivious to whatever snotface was saying, Calvin pulled out the lighter from his inside coat pocket, "Aha! There it is!"
He let the flame set the end alight, then took a few draws before letting out a long smokey sigh. He then looked back at the other trainer his hella ugly pokemon, "Sorry? I can see your mouth moving but I have no idea what you're saying."
He then went back to smoking, rearranged his shoe so it fit nicer and looked back at Artemus, "Jeez, you sound like such a twat, you know that right? Of course I'm aware pokemon have 'feelings'." He then started mumbling to himself, not really concerned whether he got his point across or not, he waved a hand at Zorua/ Artemus, signalling him to attack again.
Zorua launched himself at Gligar, returning to his original form, claws extended, going in for two clean knock out scratches...
Without watching his Zorua, he turned around and started to walk away, knowing he had already won this fight.
