Harmin Undor, a newly christened pokemon trainer, stood at the exit of Littleroot Town between the two lines of trees that paved the way to Route 101. His body acted as a human barrier, preventing the flow of any traffic onward to the first route. He had just received his first pokemon from Professor Birch and was yet to test out his pokemon's strength.
As a result, any trainer that wanted to leave Littleroot Town and begin their journey would first have to make it past him.
He was eager to see what his Staryu could do. Once his body was in position between the two trees, Harmin released his Staryu from its pokeball. "Let's see what you've got," he said excitingly.
His overall move set was quite limited at the moment on the Staryu. This first battle would be a rather boring one, but at least it would allow for Harmin to estimate how much training he would need from his first battle to his first gym challenge.
For the meantime he patiently waited for a trainer to come his way. Then, the fun and games would begin.

Next stop: World domination. Or rather, the eradication of the forces that actually believed they could accomplish such an effect. But within the goal of destroying both aqua and magma, there were smaller steps that needed to be taken. Julius was ready, and so was his defacto partner who was, for now, hidden inside a pokeball.
He needed to get out of Littleroot first, and then maybe find some wild pokemon to add to his team. His pokeball was in his belt, and his egg was inside his bag. A cigarette between his teeth and he was ready. He had forsaken his glasses for now- it wasn't like he'd need them yet.
Just as he was about to start on the route, he found a trainer blocking his path. Everything in his stance screamed challenge, and Julius raised an eyebrow in defiance. He gave a small smile.
"Starting your journey as well? Not exactly nice to be stopping someone else's, though. Unless ofcourse..."
Reflexively, his hand went to his belt where Zero's pokeball was. So this was what it was like to be a pokemon trainer.
How long would he have to wait out here for his first challenge? Harmin's neck klinked momentarily as he realised he had been staring at the sky for quite some time. Lowing his gaze back down before him, he noted an individual trainer making his way toward his self-made blockade.
Harmin smiled at the man as he stood opposing him. Finally, his fated opponent had arrived and not a moment too soon. His Staryu was still fresh out of the pokeball and ready to go against whatever was thrown at it.
"Quit talking," Harmin said rudely to the man, "let's see how that pokemon of yours fairs against my Staryu."
Harmin was of course talking about the pokeball that was positioned within the man's flexed hand. Folding his arms over, he waited for the man to draw his pokemon with an annoyed look on his face.

Julius could often come off as a nice guy to be around, but there were a lot of things wrong with him. One being the fact that he felt a dark desire to piss of anyone he didn't immediately like. The man before him seemed the no-nonsense type, the type he couldn't quite stand. He was impatient, too. Julius rolled his eyes at his snappy talk, and removed his hand from the pokeball, decided to put to fingers around his cigarette instead.
He pulled it out, very slowly and let out a long, drawn-out whiff of smoke into the air, purposefully stalling their match just to annoy the man before him.
"Sorry, stranger. You've already lost," he said, gesturing to the Staryu. The same hand he had raised let the cigarette fall and a boot quickly went over it. Meanwhile the hand dropped, rested against the pokemon for even longer, again, for the sole purpose of rilling this fool up.
Julius then threw out his own pokemon, a Rotom to the field. It buzzed and floated, and Julius smiled as it came to rest by his side.
"You can have the first move."
NOTES: OMG IM SORRY I DIDNT KNOW. uhh what to do now ;a; Do you want to not fight in this thread? IDK. SORRY AGAIN ;w; TAGGED: @hronica
A Rotom eh? He had never seen the pokemon before. Studying it carefully, Harmin realised what elemental affinity the pokemon might have. As each second passed, the opposing pokemon was releasing small jolts of electrical energy around its person.
It seemed as if his Staryu was not in for the best time.
"I think it's an electric pokemon. Use tackle to wear it down," Harmin ordered quickly as the Rotom entered the fray.
Pointing forward toward the direction of the opposing trainer, Harmin sent his Staryu forth to face the Rotom. Little did he know that Rotom was actually ghost-type as well and as such, Staryu's tackle would have no effect on the pokemon.

Whoa. He had sensed some impatience, and maybe some rookie-like qualities, but when did he miss the fact that he was fighting against an absolute moron? The Staryu jumped forward, a slave to its owner's idiocy, and Julius was with little more than contempt as the star-shaped pokemon leaped straight through his ghost type. He pushed his glasses up and then moved one hand to his bag to maek sure his pichu egg was still there. It was- he was just being paranoid.
"You do know that Ghosts aren't effected by things like tackle, right?" He said, the condescending note taking over his voice automatically. He tsked and shook his head. "Alright then, another thing you should know are status conditions." He gestured to the floating rotom, and then to the staryu. "Zero, cripple the enemy," he ordered.
The rotom complied, letting out an irregular wave of glowing blue electricity and then a series of large orbs that would explode into bright light upon contact and confuse the enemy. Paralyzation and confusion, both equally unfavorable conditions.

As the Staryu honed in on the opposing Rotom, Harmin watched intently to see what would come about as a result of Staryu's strike. Once the two bodies of the pokemon were about to collide, Harmin had realised he had made a grave mistake.
Staryu spun forward, attempting to tackle the Rotom only to go straight through the electric volt pokemon. Failing to understand as to why, Harmin watched as his Staryu flipped out the other side only to come back and have the same thing repeated once more.
His misunderstanding of the situation was soon answered by the opposing trainer who attempted to mock his ignorance. It was a part ghost-type as well.
"Staryu, watch ou-..." Harmin attempted to call out to his Staryu that was now in point blank range of the Rotom. It was too late to get it to move anywhere and as such, his opponent took full advantage of the situation that was before them.
Harmin watched as small pulses of electricity moved around the body of the Staryu. It seemed as if the Rotom had attempted to paralyse his pokemon. On top of that, it was now confused.
"Staryu, snap out of it," Harmin called out in an effort to get through to his pokemon.
The Staryu attempted to look back at its trainer before a sudden jolt of electricity surged through it. One of its legs that it was standing on winced slightly as the pokemon failed to move from its position.
It remained a sitting duck for the opposing Rotom. How could he have been so ignorant?

The staryu fell prey to both attacks, and Julius watched with little interest as it did. The fight had not been a challenge, and somehow he couldn't get any enjoyment from something that had been so boring. The paralysis was obviously going to prevent much resistance, and if it didn't, the confusion would.
"Alright, charge up and then discharge." The rotom obliged, its body glowing blue for a few second as it gathered its energy. Seconds later, a giant snowflake-shaped blast of electricity threatened to blow everything in the vicinity to bits. Julius hid the bag behind his back, protecting the egg from the move even though he was quite sure it wouldn't hit.
The raven haired trainer looked over at the blonde, and its pokemon, and then at the dust that had risen from the attack. Was it down for the count?
NOTES: used charge & then dsicharge! TAGGED: @hronica
Harmin was saddened by the outcome of this battle. The odds were completely against him and there was nothing he could do. Furrowing his brows, he watched his Staryu helplessly lie on the ground. His opponent wasted no time in taking full advantage of the sickened condition that his pokemon was in.
His eyes trailed up from the fallen Staryu, looking at the Rotom who began to charge up some electrical energy before releasing it on the fallen Staryu. The paralysed state of the star-pokemon made it almost impossible for it to dodge the strike.
Admitting defeat, Harmin lifted the pokeball that belonged to his Staryu and returned the pokemon to its slumber. Tucking the ball away within his satchel, he looked up to his opponent who stood behind the small Rotom.

The smoke vanished, clearing just enough for Julius to see the vague outlines of a Staryu on the ground, laying flat. The only reason it would be down like that is if it was fainted. Julius smiled, happy for victory but it didn't taste half as sweet without the thrill of challenge. Zero buzzed over to the Staryu, affirmed that it was down, and then floated back to Julius.
The dark haired trainer returned his own pokemon after he saw the Staryu be returned, and was busy putting the ball back in his belt when the other trainer asked his question. "Hmm?" asked Julius, looking up for a second before beaming at the other male. "Julius Kingston." Here, he outstretched a hand and offered it to the blonde, genuinely finding it acceptable that he met someone the true trainer-way. Through a battle.
"We really should do that again someday- it's hardly fun for anyone without a challenge." Arrogant? Perhaps. But he was definitely well-intentioned, as he most always was.
Harmin glanced down to the hand that was offered to him by his opponent. He was about to grasp the hand as the man continued with further comments about the battle that had just unfolded. His arrogance was taken positively by Harmin, finding humour in his words.
The blonde trainer gripped the man's hand quite tight, tightening his grasp after two shakes. "My name is Harmin."
"And you will get that challenge out of me one day," the trainer added upon releasing his grasp of the man's had. Tightening his grip around his backpack, Harmin walked past the man and opened up the path to Route 101. "See you around."
Harmin made his way back to his house in order to heal up his Staryu before he made his own start to his journey through the route that he was blocking off.
