"Ya know what to do!"
Froakie released a snarl before its maw opened wide. Instead of aiming toward the electric-type he focused upon the ground at his very feet. He spat out a charged beam of chilled energy, propelling himself straight into the air as a result. This allowed for the creature to efficiently dodge the attack. But as the water-type fell back to the earth, he could not possibly avoid the blinding light that collided with him upon landing. A noise of utter confusion escaped him as he was struck with absolute bewilderment that clouded his very mind.
Groaning in annoyance, Andrea spat out an obscenity at her luck.
"Use an Ice Beam!" She called.
The confused Pokemon managed to attack, opening his mouth as he spat out another beam of energy. But it moved the attack's power in an uncoordinated fashion, turning its head this way and that as the energy flowed from its mouth.
"Ah, shit," she muttered.
Hopefully it wouldn't last too long.

The glasses-wearing male tilted his head in mute interest as the friskier propelled itself straight into the air, launching like a bullet and also crashing down like one. It was pretty much an awe inspiring strategy if not for the fact that it failed to dodge the confuse ray. Julius tried to rid his mind of awe and replace it with quick thinking.
The friskier was confused an it's attack patterns quite sloppy, but that just made things harder to dodge around. Add to the fact that it knew ice beam of all moves. That wasnt something Julius had been expecting, and he was pretty annoyed at the card hidden in the girl’s sleeve. The unpredictable beam hit the rotom and knocked it down. When it attempted to get up, Julius knew it had been severely injured. Low leveled Pokemon weren't supposed to know strong moves like that. Tch.
"Don't worry, we’ve got this. Discharge, and do it fast. "
He didn't want this battle going on for too long. The rotom buzzed in response, and quickly created zapping blue sparks to attack both the froakie and anything in its immediate vicinity.

Java swayed upon his toes, mouth eventually snapping shut as the confusion only worsened. Unable to shake away his status ailment, the water-type had the misfortune of facing down a double helping of electrically charged attacks. Andrea's mouth fell open in shock as her Pokemon collapsed in a tiny heap and trembled, electricity coursing throughout the entirety of his body. She released an irritated 'tch' as she produced her Pokeball and returned the felled creature to his capsule.
"Julius it is," she grunted, admitting defeat.
That battle was much shorter than she liked to admit. But, Julius's strategy, coupled by his Pokemon's type advantage, left Andrea's Pokemon both crippled and unable to react in a timely fashion. Froakie wasn't strong enough to handle electric-types yet. Perhaps one day he would - but that day sure as hell wasn't today.
"Damn, this shit is embarrassing," she muttered, rubbing her face with her hands.
Tucking away her capsule into her pocket, she made a mental note of returning to the PokeCenter later in order to heal the fainted creature. Running a hand through her hair, she pursed her lips before her gaze snapped back onto Julius and his companion.
"Sweet Pokemon ya got there," Andrea said, a small smile forming. "What's his name again?"

In the end the status ailment and the electricity was just too much to deal with, and the discharge was the final nail in the coffin. The electricity had the froakie falling to the ground, and victory quietly settled over as Julius returned his champion and Andrea returned hers. The girl finally greeted him by his normal name- but somehow she had already struck him as the type to keep her promises.
The battle had been too short to really have liked, and instead of be happy for himself he just felt the need to challenge this girl again when they were both better than what they were now. Somehow it struck him that this wouldn't be the last battle they fought, even though moments ago he would have been happy with never seeing her again.
By the time Andrea had finished rubbing her face and mumbling about her loss, Julius made his way from his side of the field to hers, hand outstretched in sportsmanship.
"We definitely should do that again sometime." he said, voice genuine and his smile reflecting her own. The girl complimented his pokemon and he puffed up a bit at that. "Thanks. He's Zero- a rotom I got from Birch. Strange guy, for sure. And your froakie?"
He was pretty sure it was something like Joe or something, but she'd probably appreciate the inquiry so he asked anyway.

"Java," she replied, simply. "His name's Java."
Andrea eyed the hand offered up, and a slow smile eventually formed onto the sharp features of her face. Despite her dragging him about in a random fashion, corralling him into a battle, and just barely putting up a good fight - he remained chill enough to offer his hand in friendship. She accepted the hand, gripping firmly onto his own larger paw as the girl gave it a good shake.
"And I'm a coordinator," she said.
After revealing her class affiliation, she absently touched the discolored flesh of her face, gaze wandering away for a moment. Andrea appeared to be deep thought, as though she was considering her next few words carefully. Eventually she shrugged with a small huff.
"I guess yer alright," she admitted. "Despite the electric shit. And the punching shit. And all the other ... shit."
Another pause as she struggled to figure out what to say next. This whole relationship thing wasn't as simple as it looked on the television. But this worked, somehow. It was actually quite refreshing. This guy wasn't an acquaintance or someone whom nudged himself out of her favor. No, this was an equal. Someone who didn't bullshit around, and regarded her as someone who stood at his level.
"I'm hungry," she grunted. "Wanna split a bill?"

Java, that's what it was. Neither Java nor Andrea were very remarkable names, but somehow he could never imagine himself forgetting either of them. The girl was a good trainer, and he was excited to-- what? She was, a, coordinator?!
Julius covered his face with his hands, attempting to hide an hyena-like laugh he could feel forming in the back of his throat. He couldn't even imagine- if the first coordinator he met was already this insane, what would the rest of Hoenn be like?
"You’re a--ahhaha--" Somehow he knew laughing would get him another punch, but he couldn't help it when he'd been so damn lucky to find someone as different as this girl was. He had thought this journey might turn out boring but Andrea proved otherwise.
"...a coordinator." He finished, reigning himself in. "That’s amazing. And yeah, you're pretty alright to. Despite the punching and the dragging and the...shit." He didn't quite believe in resorting to vulgarity, but it fit on this occasion, right? Or maybe she was just rubbing off on his already.
Her suggestion to eat seemed perfectly natural, as if it was going to be routine thing from here on out. He sure hoped this partnership of sorts would never get boring, though. "Sounds neat," was his instant reply.
