jackson split off from aries not long ago in hopes of finally catching his first hoenn pokemon. as much as he liked his best friend, it would be far easier to hunt for pokemon without the loud brat. iris was still out of her pokeball, and walking casually at his side, glancing upward every once in a while to get a glimpse of her trainer. she seemed to like him, thus far, which made jackson feel at ease. at least he could trust her to protect him from wild pokemon.
he found himself in the middle of route 101. he passed another new trainer or two, but never once stopped to talk. instead, he looked around, in hopes of spotting wild pokemon for himself. "be on guard," he warned the growlithe, just in case.
Ekans was burrowing through the ground, hiding herself in in the sand. She obviously never saw herself in a reflection, nor noticed how much she stood out. To her, she was a master of disguise. No one had ever spotted her before! Well those who had usually died, anyway. Oh wait. Was that a growlithe? Crap, she'd been spotted! Fangs barred, time to attack!
ekans used poison sting! possibility of poisoning!
Post by jackson rothstein on May 28, 2015 5:21:42 GMT
an ekans! jackson smirked at the pokemon, and his heartbeat quickened. it was his first real pokemon battle here in hoenn, and the excitement was certainly getting to him. he was a fan of ekans, too. maybe he'd even have a chance to catch it!
"iris, watch out, moves like poison sting have a chance of poisoning!" he shouted. luckily she seemed to take the hit without an issue, and jackson let out a shaky breath he hadn't been aware he was holding. jackson knew growlithe was a relatively strong pokemon, but iris didn't have any fire type moves yet. potentially problematic. roar would likely scare the wild pokemon away, so their only option right now was... "hit it with bite," jackson called, pointing towards the purple snake pokemon.
iris ran towards the ekans. she was just as excited as her trainer for this battle. the poison sting she'd been hit with barely hurt at all once she started running. she couldn't wait to make her trainer proud. she made to grab the ekans by the throat-area with her teeth.
"and again if you can,"
NOTES ▸ using growlithe, f, lvl 005 ▸ growlithe is intimidated, -1 atk ▸ growlithe is hit by poison sting ▸ growlithe used bite ▸ growlithe used bite again
The poison sting was a success! But the foe was not slowing down. No matter, he would fall like the rest of the soon enough. Poison was merciless, after all. As quick as the snake she was, Ekans dodged around the first bite, but shortly after she fell prey to the next one. The bit stung, but her slitherly body slipped out of the fangs and attempted to coil around the Growlithe's neck and wrap him tightly. Suffocate him to death. While she was close by, her eyes glowed red, giving off a leer that was sure to send chills down the mutt's spine. ekans dodged (1/2) ekans was hit with bite! ekans used wrap! ekans used leer! (-1 def)

"nice hit!" jackson cheered when iris's second bite managed to make contact with the ekans. she couldn't hold on for long, though, before the ekans was attempting to wrap itself around her neck. jackson huffed, "get out of there, iris," he called, "don't let the ekans crush your throat," he whispered the last few words, almost fearfully. ekans wasn't the most powerful pokemon, but over time... he shuddered thinking of the damage that could be done.
iris managed to dodge the wrap with some luck, but she almost tripped at the sight of the ekans' glowing red eyes. she took a step back, warily. "it's okay, iris," jackson reassured, "just go in for another bite, okay," his voice was softer than usual. he didn't want to scare his poor pokemon out of fighting. he was generally better with pokemon than humans, anyway. "try to aim for the neck as much as you can,"
the growlithe felt slightly better after hearing her trainer's voice, and she went in for an attack again. she was aware that aiming closer to the face meant being more susceptible to ekans's attacks, especially poison sting, but she trusted her trainer enough to at least try.
"good job, iris, keep it up with another bite,"
NOTES ▸ growlithe dodges (1/2) ▸ growlithe is leered, -1 def ▸ growlithe used bite ▸ growlithe used bite again
What!? The pokemon slipped right out of her grasp. This had never happened before. THe ekans let out a startling hiss as it noticed the fear in the growlithe's eyes. It wanted to make sure the opponent backed away if it couldn't kill it successfully. But then the human said something, and the pokemon lunged forward again. Stupid freaking powers of damnable friendship. The bite attack hurt, and the Ekans sprawled onto the floor, writhing in anguish for a bit before finally fainting.
ekans was hit with bite! x2 ekans fainted! capture? another pokemon?
Post by jackson rothstein on May 31, 2015 8:52:51 GMT
jackson's fists clenched and unclenched until he was sure the snake pokemon had fainted. jumping up and cheering would be uncharacteristic for the dark-haired male, but he was extremely happy. "good job, iris," he congratulated, rubbing the top of her head. he grabbed a pokeball from his bag and threw it at the ekans, successfully capturing it. "looks like we have a new friend," he told his pokemon, "i think i'll name her..." he paused for a second in thought, "sage," and then he added the new pokeball to his belt with pride.
jackson stood up again. he brushed off the front of his pants, as if they were dirty. "lets keep looking," he said finally, taking a few steps forward. he turned to make sure iris was behind him before his pace quickened, heading further down route 101, "ready for one more, iris?"
A bidoof presented itself before Jack, as properly and well mannered as a bidoof could get. Truth be told, he hated how his kind were represented as low born village-folk with nothing better to do than chew wood and act stupid. He was learned! He was intelligent! He was brave and reknwon for his mind! All of that and of course it had never sunk in that humans didn't understand his pokespeak. So in the end when he asked the human to tea, it looked like an invitation to battle more than anything..

jackson was rough on the outside. he looked like the type who only trained 'strong' pokemon, but there was a part of him that always liked the cute ones. secretly, of course, because the rest of the world - especially aries - was not allowed to know this.
so, when jackson was met face to face with a bidoof, he couldn't help but want it. it would make a charming addition to his squad. or he could pass it off to aries with the reminder that aries was complaining about not having any cute pokemon.
"iris, be on guard," jackson warned. the bidoof didn't seem dangerous, yet, but that didn't mean it wasn't vicious, "approach it and use bite," he commanded.
NOTES ▸ still using growlithe, f, lv 005 ▸ growlithe used bite
The people obviously didn't understand- and maybe the growlithe had been too much with humans to even recognize the pleas of its own kind- although the species barrier was in place. Bidoof shouted out at the bite, and then flinched, unable to make a quick enough response. Once it gained its senses though, it lunged into a tackle, angry that it had been hurt by people he wanted to trust.
a wild bidoof appeared! bidoof flinched! bidoof used tackle!
