So this was what happened after she received her...Piplup. Yes, that's what it's species of name was. God, she sounded so analytical. But anyways, back to her story...
----
AJ stepped through the threshold of the small cabin -- yet large by apartment living standards- and allowed her eyes to shift back and forth between her mother and aunt, both who stood with clasped hands, eyes shining with excitement. The raven-haired teen scratched the back of her head, then wrung out the bottom strands nervously. Damn her anxiety.
"Well, I have one," she smiled, but god did she feel like she was fractured inside. What was she supposed to do with this creature anyways? Not that she hated Pokemon, but she never actually....liked them?
"Well send him out!" her mother and aunt chorused. AJ made a sound of at the back of her throat before digging into her pocket to retrieve the smooth device that held the penguin-like creature.
In a flash of bright light, the tiny blue bird blinked and fluttered about before chirping out his name. "Pip!" The two adult...adult....women scuttled forward to admire the level-five, both cooing and ooing "Oh how cute!"
AJ returned to her pose from earlier, arms crossed, brow furrowed. "Well, I guess I'll go up to my room and lie down for a while..." Her eyes roamed around the room, anywhere to look at besides this...chaos. "You know since it was such a long trip." Her mother straightened her, her thin frame wobbling uncertainly. Her blue eyes mirrored those of her daughter. They beheld some deep sort of sadness, yet she smiled. "But darling, I thought maybe you would want to explore? Maybe head to the next town. It's slightly bigger, so maybe you won't feel so isolated. There should be plenty of trainers as well." Aj flinched. Oh, god. Trainers. While back in Kanto, her mother had pushed her to excel in school as well as being amiable to her music lessons, her mother had never been quiet this....insistent?
AJ twisted her wrist, scrunching up the material of her hoodie. "Uhm, okay. I guess we can do that."
"So what's the little darlings name?"
"Oh, uh, the professor said it was a Piplup."
Her mother shook her head, brown curls flopping. "No, Ave, I mean, it's nickname. Didn't you know that you could give him a nickname?"
AJ snorted, eyes flicking down. There was a sort of coldness in the gesture and even though her thin eyebrows gathered more, a slight warmness hinted in her expression. "Well, I don't know yet. I guess I'll think of something..."
---
Long story short, she was now standing, glancing around at all...well more trees than there had been in town. She had been told earlier that kids weren't allowed to leave Little Root town unless they had a partner. Well, at least she could travel. So, maybe it couldn't be that bad. She hunched her shoulders. her canvas backpack full of clothes and various items that her mother had so hastily packed for her and thrust forward onto the dirt lane.
maybe it would have been better if she stayed at the headquarters. no one would disturb you and you're always there. silent. not really noticed by anyone. when you talk it's a squeak in a way. it's been a while right? you spoke so long ago, now you think you're entirely mute. you just speak through your actions. and if no one understands those actions, you give up and go elsewhere.
time for you to move, to go on from this world and towards a new adventure again. just like old times. your thoughts are blank as you keep on walking. in your arms you carry your swirlix. a rather silly pokémon who stuck his tongue out. he's a support and you are the master. he treats you more like a friend and you like it that way. no one could object to that.
walking, walking. you keep on going. who's here and who's not? as you go, you accidentally bump into someone by the shoulder. a falter in your steps. you move a few paces away to regain your footing. hopefully the other person did not get injured. you turn your head to see a girl. you look down in shame and then back at her. a bow to say 'sorry' to the girl.
Aquamarine orbs darted about, leaping from tree, to tree, to tree....A rustle here and there caught her attention, but it was just a narrow leaping shadow. Oh right, the professor had told her that she would encounter various wild Pokemon. So that was probably one of those. What was it again she was supposed to do? He said battle and capture. AJ shook her head. No time to think of that.
She was supposed to be headed to the next town. She might have some idea of where that might be if there wasn't a line of trees blocking her view. That was when she felt the slight nudge. The raven-haired teen blinked rapidly. It hadn't been forceful or even startling. It felt mostly like a brush of warmth against her shoulder.
AJ swiveled around, her widened azure gaze flashing to take in a girl about her own age -- maybe older??? -- with pale blonde hair and blue eyes. Porcelain doll flashed through her mind. A soft smile crept onto her lips, but it didn't quite touch her eyes. "Oh sorry, excuse me," she murmurred. She looked up and down as the other girl bowed. As an apology of some sort? AJ rubbed the back of her head, the universal sign of her nervousness.
Was this girl another trainer? AJ couldn't recall seeing her in town or at the lab. What did you say to something when you bumped into someone on a dirt path in the middle of no where with some strange creature at your side. Were they supposed to battle now? Hadn't that always been the joke during her childhood? If you met gazes, you battled....of course if you had a partner.
The raven-haired teen could safely assume that this girl was also a trainer of sorts since she was also outside the town, since there was that weird rule, you can't travel without one. AJ shuffled around slightly, manuevering where her backpack and guitar would fit more snuggly between her shoulder blades. "So, are you going to the next town?" she asked, teeth flashing in another nervous smile.
And that's when she felt it. A twitch in her pocket. AJ's gaze flicked down momentarily then back at the silent traveler to await her answer.
fiona devoir [of course I don't mind ^^ welcome aboard! Nice to meet you! :3]
you're nervous. maybe it would have been better for you to keep on going. don't turn back or look back. safe to say, you stay silent. you don't want to cause a riot or a storm between you and the younger girl (??). so silence is your only tool for this given moment.
you know fully well that you can't bode with people. especially girls. not since your middle and high school years. when you stand up straight you notice the girl raise her hand to her neck. did you do something wrong? afraid you would get hit, you hold onto your swirlix a bit tight. unsure of the outcome.
so, are you going to the next town?
funny enough, you didn't know what to gesture. just a nod. your expression is blank as you then try to think of a few more gestures to go out of your way. thinking for a moment, she pats the girl on the head and looks at her with a nod. her head towards down the dirt path. are you coming? was what she asked.
[ OOC ]Avery Joel Cipriano [ NOTES ] ohhh tyty <3 you're awesome! and gr8 to meet you! x3
The girl didn't say anything. No, instead her response was in the form of a simple curt nod. AJ knew she herself was pretty restricted, but it was mostly due to shyness and well, she just didn't let enough of herself show to truly form a bonding relationship.
AJ had a nagging feeling that if the two girls hadn't accidently made body contact, the other female would have just walked around her. Not that this personally bothered AJ, but she was unsure of how to communicate with the blonde. Her eyes fell down on the fluffy-like creature she held. Oh, she was a trainer! Damn, she needed to be more perceptive. He looked...like cotton candy. AJ shifted her focus back to the other girl....
And that's when the second response came. AJ blinked when she felt the light tapping on her head. Once again, not really of any bother to the fifteen-year-old trainer, but it was surprising to say the least. AJ's gaze darted out away from the blonde and to where she was focusing and nodding at. Oh, she was telling AJ to go along the path?
"Oh, uhm okay I see," she replied and nodded, even though she had given a verbal response. She twisted around, glancing momentarily at the girl over her shoulder, before starting down the path. Really, the farther she got away from the town, the more the nature burst to life, but really, if she had to admit it to herself. It wasn't quite that bad.
you don't mean it at all. perhaps you should have been left alone in all of this. quiet. silent. it must be awkward for the other party member. the girl is cute to your eyes. perhaps you should have done better to get everything done and over with. you should have been on your way. towards cassandra the magma leader. she's waiting right? maybe check your phone. it would help you out more. silence has always been your friend.
you walk. slowly, for the girl to catch up with you. left out in your own thoughts, you're holding your swirlix in your arms. he's soft. not like a swablu, but good enough really. chapters right? this one is another beginning. a glance to the girl you follow her. as long as you're not lost you can go anywhere. "...."
you want to say words. something. anything really. on the cue, the swirlix jumps out of your arms and moves over to avery. you open your mouth to say something, but, no words came out. what words?
AJ walked at a rather slow pace. She was tempted to see if this other girl was following her, but thankfully she made enough noise of her feet shuffling that AJ knew she was indeed behind her.
And that's when the pink fluffy creature caught her attention out of the corner of her eyes. AJ swiveled her upper body, slightly taken aback that the creature the blonde had just been carrying had decided to approach her. So it was much more...much more adventurous, one might say, then it's trainer.
More out of respect for the Swirlix, the newly made trainer crouched down and offered out her hand, much like one would to a timid animal, so the cotton-candy-like Pokemon could sniff. She was very unsure of how he-slash-she migh react, but since it had approached AJ, surely it would react in a positive way.
That made her own thoughts bubble to the surface. Should she bring out own new partner? How would the two react? Her hand briefly drifted to her pocket, where she could have sworn she felt a stitch of movement, but lowered it the last minute. Her gaze flitted up to the blonde--realizing just now that she didn't quite know her name. "Your Pokemon is very, fluffy," she stated with a slight pause, but her lips twitched in a smile. If she Swirlix did indeed response positively, she might just reach out to pet the soft fluffy bits that comprised its...fur, body? Well, either way the Pokemon seemed friendly enough. Then, just as a last second thought, she allowed her gaze to tilt up at the blonde again. "Would it be okay if I brought out my own? I just got him. Maybe they can play?' she asked. Maybe this would make the situation a little less awkward.
voltorb rolls into view. ot spots the trainers, and quickly rolls towards them. what would happen if he maybe scares them a bit? voltorb charges up itself, electricity coming off of it in sparks.
it must be frustrating for this girl really. you don't speak, but what are you supposed to do? it's your own fault for bumping into the girl. maybe you should go on your way. looks down to the ground. maybe you should go on a bit further. farther and farther. you're just silent.
strawberry was more than happy to make friends with this girl! she seems nice enough for him to be pals with. strawberry with a smile sniffs her hand a bit before. he was glad he was given the attention for a bit before rubbing his cotton like body against her hand. the girl is friendly in all aspect and as he made a noise you look to your swirlix and smile. a nod of your head. you don't mind if there's more pokémon around.
you open your mouth, but, before you can do anything else. a voltorb comes to your way. your hand slips and your pansear jumps out. a look of determination. nervous. shaken legs like a newborn lamb. swirlix jumps into your arms again for safety. Jerry glares at the Voltorb; a flare in his eyes, he doesn't want to attack yet.
The little puffy Pokemon rubbed it's soft body against her hand and made a noise of appreciation, at least that's how AJ interpreted. It made her smile widen a bit. Was this actually genuine?
How, the tiny Swirlix was quickly back in it's trainer's arms and a red monkey like Pokemon was out in a flash of light signature to the opening of a Pokeball. AJ blinked rapidly and righted herself, stumbling slightly. A...pokeball had just rolled out onto the path, electricity flickering around it's body.
A small gasp of breath escaped the raven-haired teeth's pale lips, blue-gray eyes widen uncertainly. Her gaze flits to the blonde. She doesn't seem as nervous as AJ, but she could be wrong since she has proven to be hard to read.
AJ's brows knit together, mind racing at the small lesson the professor had given her when he had handed her her new partner. Oh right! Her partner. Her hand twitched slightly then fell to her pocket, bringing out the red-and-white sphere. A click and flick of her wrist and a flash of light burst forth. As the light clears, a small blue penguin appears, shaking it's like a baby bird, feathers expanding and fluffing out.
He blinks rapidly, much like his trainer has done before then glances around at the pansear and then at the voltorb. "Pip!" he chirped and set his flippers forward, almost like he's ready to box. AJ expression became even more quizzical when he glances back at his partner. "Uhm...attack?" she murmurs. She receives only a blink from the penguin before he swivels around and dashes forward, raising it's flipper in an attempted Pound.
voltorb is taken aback by the pound. wow, how rude! it guesses that it'll have to attack back. voltorb gathers up energy and sends a sonic boom towards the pokemon.
you watch it. the battle between. you're nervous a bit as you then take in the advantage of this situation. you can slip away, the girl can handle things on her lonesome right? she's just a trainer. at the back of your mind, it's known that the small pokémon in your arms doesn't want to move from the spot. a look over to the battle before you. a voltorb.
you don't move from your spot. glued to it as you watch it happen before you. jerry was not happy. a flash of anger crosses his eyes when the attack hits him. he goes in for a leer, and then for a scratch.
all in this while, you hold your swirlix in your arms. the head of the pokémon close to your nose as you watch. a glance of the girl. she's in the same situation as you. weird...
The sonic boom hit Piplup, sending the small penguin-like Pokemon tumbling backwards. AJ caught her lip between her teeth nervously. What...what if he got hurt? Glancing over at the fire-type, she saw that he also had been hit by the attack was getting ready to retaliate.
AJ mentally scoured through the information she had looked up on her phone before walking onto the path. You know, just in case. Hadn't there also been another attack her Pokemon knew? She thought the the attack he had just administered was called pound. Should he go for another one of those?
AJ's gaze darted back and forth between the other teen girl, her Pokemon, the voltorb, and her own Piplup. "Uhm, Piplup...try your growl attack?" Yet her voice was edged with uncertainity.
Piplup glanced back at it's new trainer, blinking it's beady gaze, before swiveling his chubby body back around and chirping quite loudly "Pip, piplup!" While that didn't sound quite too menacing to the raven-haired teen, maybe it would do something?
ouch! the pound that the monkey does leaves the voltorb disorientated. it feels a certain rage for them, but voltorb can't stand it anymore. he has to leave! he's way over his head. voltorb attempts to roll away, heading straight for the trees!
weird...this battle was .. well, weird. you want to help them all out. so you assist the girl when the voltorb came. jerry who knew well enough to not chase after a pokémon left the voltorb alone and hop back to fiona who bent down on one knee and gave him a scratch behind the ear. time for you to go now. you look at the girl and nod.
"you should catch it..." you say softly. it's not your place to say at all, but, you hope the girl understood you. even you don't have the luxury to say such things from time to time. hopefully, in some ends, the girl does not find it offensive at all.
you're not arrogant, you're just misunderstood. you hope there's nothing wrong with that. just...misunderstood for the rest of your childhood. that was mainly you as you watch the voltorb attempt to get away.
