Bittersweet? No just bitter. The city holds little for him, now other than a gym and a cemetery. He's only been gone for about two months and already it no longer feels like home. To be fair it stopped feeling like home years ago. Two years and one hundred and seventy-three days but whose counting? He walks through the streets a lazy smile on his face no friends with him now everything here feels like his smile in that it was all fake. He navigates the streets calmly at a loss for what to do. There were a couple of shops nearby, the gym of course and a nice little mountainous pier behind the city that overlooked Meteor falls. It was a place he was planning on taking a certain girl when he got that far down. It was said to be one of the most beautiful places in the region, a destination to look forward to most definitely.
He continues moving past the buildings and academy's that make Rustboro what it is, students and workers together highlight the scene taking up most of the way. These people with known purpose as they go through life. He's jealous, far more than he's willing to admit. It's funny actually. Growing up he'd always wanted to be a trainer and go on a journey, now he looks back and simply wants to have a purpose, like the people that roam the streets. The grass is always greener on the other side after all. He continues down his attention falling to a familiar face, after the festival ended everyone continued with their own journeys one of the many happened to be the man his eyes fell on. He decides to approach the man as a distraction is more than welcome now.
"Yo Will, right?" he gives the man a short wave last he'd seen of the man he'd sent him to a certain cove to enjoy Petalburg's beach after a battle. "Did my spot work alright for you?"

"Pretty alright man." He lies ever so casually, "You know, making it." He can't help but notice the trainer looks more lost than anything warranting a small chuckle. He figured the man had come here after Petalburg looking for the gym most trainers tended to start their gym challenges in Rustboro after all. He's taken a different approach, but to each their own.
Still if only to keep conversation going he asks, "So what brings you to rustboro? Here to challenge the gym leader?" He slides his hands into his pocket casually eyeing the bystanders all the while, "You look a little bit lost man to be honest with you. I know my way around the city tell me where you're trying to go and I can get you there if you need some help man." He offers his help as he has nothing better to do or rather he tries to avoid what he needs to do, any excuse to get him out of the task prior. Top Ten Anime Betrayals

Silph Co. was always a bit too ritzy for his needs growing up however it was in the area where his junior college was about a half hour or so from here walking. And to make matters better it was farther away from his initial destination thankfully. "Yeah, bout forty or so minutes from here actually I don't have anything better to do so I can guide you. Rustboro can be a bit of a maze. Surprised you haven't been hustled yet honestly." A light laugh follows before he turns on his heel in the intended direction.
"Come on man it's this way." He keeps his pace slow as he walks the towering stone buildings home to businesses and labs of all sorts. Rustboro used to be known as a college town, it still was partly at least, however it was now more known for its research and business fronts. People said the city was on its way to becoming Hoenn's Saffron City so to speak. He decides to switch topics as they walk if only to keep himself. "So Will tell me bout yourself man. Didn't really get to learn too much in the battle.

"A sinnoh native then?" His question is short, but holds a sort of airy tone masking any lingering feelings having little to do with him. The bright eyed jubilife native continues to speak, but his mind is elsewhere as they walk his focus on little buildings. It's safe to say he misses a more than fair bit of the conversation as he continues on only realizing his current companion seemed to be looking toward him for an answer. "Me. Well I'm nothing special. I was raised in Hoenn after going through some level of schooling I decided to become a trainer." As he explains his own backstory in a way that even the word 'abridged.' is far too long to describe his tale. "I've had it... pretty easy growing up you know?"
A lie. A very subjective lie, but a lie nonetheless. His own perception of life particularly his own was less than ideal. That being said now wasn't the time to think about his experiences growing up, not in the city where it all took place. And so he moves the conversation along his voice still as airy as it was when he first spoke. "So thoughts on Hoenn so far?" He follows up with the parts of the conversation he got prior, "I know if anything you must be enjoying the warmer weather."

Well as a native I'm happy to hear your enjoying yourself, he flashes a small smile at the man, he may not have been the biggest fan of Rustboro but he does hold feelings for most other parts of his region truly finding it enjoyable. As they walk he spots a small field meant for battles. His mind traveling to the youngest pokemon in his party. The two were half way there and if only to pass the time he comes with a small proposition, "Oh yeah, from the uh exploration I got a baby pokemon I was wondering if you'd help me train it a little you know get it accustomed to battling you know?"
"Of course if you're in a hurry I can definitely forego it, after all don't want to cause you any trouble friend." the red headed trainer slides his hands into his pocket all the way looking over the field waiting for Will to decide feeling rather impartial at this point.

The brunette is ready for a quick fight on the way much to the older trainer's joy. The man slides a single pokeball from his coat pocket making his way from concrete to the grassy field. Tossing the pokeball repeatedly in his hand. The younger man wonders what pokemon he managed to pick up from the gift shop. Miles not seeing a point in answering doesn't figuring it'd be much more exciting to simply show the trainer than telling him, it was the pokemon he was planning on using after all even if it was still just a baby.
"He plants his foot deep into the trainers box lobbing the pokeball lazily onto the field a white light revealing the small bulbous pokemon as it nestles into the grass calmly. His red eyes first glance at his own trainer slightly confused before looking at the other man slowly figuring out what exactly was happening. The pokemon was beginning to enjoy battling, thankfully, but still needed to improve greatly before he was used as regularly as the rest of his team. There was however no doubt in his trainer's mind that the grass type would catch up sooner than later. "Meet bulbasaur!" The red head calls to Will, "I really just want to get him acquainted with battling, no need to take this one too seriously, yeah?"

"Much Obliged friend." the trainer says calmly mentally switching modes preparing himself for the battle. "Tackle it twice over don't give it room to breathe!" The red haired trainer glances over the opponents pokemon thinking it must be a new addition to his team, where exactly the man happened to find the rare dragon pokemon was anyone's guess. Maybe he'd ask the man later if he managed to remember.
As Miles muses bulbasaur begins his rush the small bulbous pokemon dashing forward to tackle the ground type dragon. The pokemon looks fairly strange to the grass type it's large jaw scaring him slightly. Regardless he continues ruining through the grassy area his target insight. All the while people from the street not too far away happen to glance over at the beginner battle before continuing on about their business.

The tackles went through Miles glancing at william and his pokemon alike the latter looking more confused than anything as the battle began the small bulbous pokemon dashing forward regardless managed to take advantage of the small dragon's confusion tackling it twice over. It was actually pretty cute watching the two pokemon battle, Miles couldn't help but smile as the bulbasaur's attack manages to connect with the gible. Sadly almost immediately after Will calls his own attack the dragon type opening it's massive jaw releasing two shots of draconic energy at the the small grass type. "Try and dodge!" The pokemon attempts, but in his movements trips over his own stubby legs both shots hitting the pokemon knocking him back. The bulbasaur was about done, but still stood strong ready for one final charge.
"Give it one more tackle!" The trainer calls a sizeable amount of faith in his pokemon, it was looking like a loss, but that at this point didn't matter as long as the grass type managed to gain some experience from the whole event Miles was alright with it, knowing the pokemon would only get stronger from this encounter. The pokemon follows suit it's final charge in an attempt to ram the large jaw dragon a final time, putting his heart into his final attack.
Notes: Finish it up just wanted to try and extend the battle a little bit, so we can get more pd.

And so it ends just as quickly as it began another orb of pulsing draconic energy finishing the job only after the seedling pokemon managed to get his final attack in, and it was a strong one, not enough to knock the ground type pokemon out of course, but still strong in its own right. With the battle over Miles walks up to the fainted bulbasaur making his way to the middle of the battle field lifting the light weight grass type to cradle it. "You did a good job young one..." He mumbles before recalling it, the red light engulfing him quickly.
With his pokemon taken care of he now turns to will himself eyes focused. "Thanks for the battle friend, Sorry for the distraction, I'll take you to the lab now, as promised. He walks out of the field hands buried in his pockets nodding at the trainer to follow along. "So when did you get the gible?" A need for conversation once again arising. Lest he be distracted by the city he hates once again.

He's not familiar with the cost of pokemon, as he's never really bought pokemon. He'd traded once for scyther but bartering, He says nothing on this a simply, 'ah' or 'hm' serving as plausible responses no true feelings on the topic. "Anyways we're almost there about a three blocks away." he moves around a passerby going too slow for his pace, "So what's this fossil you're so eager on reviving. So eager that you ran into the heart of Rustboro without a plan?"
He notes the number of lab coats now passing them by showing they've entered a different distract of the city entirely. As he moves deeper into the sector the red haired man becomes more uncomfortable.

A 'big bird' was an understatement Miles having read about the prehistoric pokemon a number of times prior. It wasn't a pokemon he was searching for by any means one reason of course being that he couldn't the pokemon having gone extinct at least a thousand years ago, the second reason being he already filled the position for 'Giant Bird' on his team Noctowl doing more than enough to keep his title.
The two walk Miles turning the next corner and walking only about ten paces before seeing the almost massive Laboratory esque building in the distance. He stops here nodding towards it. "It's that massive building dead ahead." He pulls a quick piece of paper scribbling his number on the parchment before handing it to the brunette haired boy. "I don't think it's possible to get lost in a straight line, but just in case you do, call me and I'll try to guide you out, or if you're looking for a quick battle?" He adds the last line with a casual smirk.

A quiet laugh, and short wave, and the boy is gone in the crowd Miles' smile quickly turning into a grimace his annoyance finally seen. The happier boy had served as a good distraction definitely, but once again he was face to face with the city he loathed. he turns hands in his pockets walking away disappearing into the crowd of nameless faces himself searching for another distraction, anything to keep him from delving deeper into the city.
His footsteps fade turning the tall shadows from the buildings above covering him as he walks his grimace growing now. What lied waiting for him next.
