she grinned, eager to get her day started. it was early morn', and the sky remained pale as the sun began its daily ascent. usually andrea was asleep at this period of time, but, today, she was eager to train. her pokemon still had a lot to learn, and her newest additions could use some training'. her purchased sandile peered up at her, facial features unsurprisingly blank as he observed his jittery mistress.
"hope yer ready fer some action, kroc," she drawled, flashing teeth. "'cause i most cer-tain-ly am. this is gonna be a fuckin' rad day. holy shit! can't wait!"
something about today left her absolutely pumped, and it was time to get it started. her attitude was all kinds of excellent.
"sand," her pokemon replied.
"aw, don't be like that boy. missin' yer master?"
she looked to him, curiosity glimmering in her cerulean gaze. the pokemon merely averted his gaze, failing to respond at first. andrea proceeded to kneel, her hand settling upon the scales of his back.
"i'll take good care of ya, boy. okay?"
"sand," he muttered, raising his gaze to peer at her.

It became quite clear to Dmitri early on that Broski was beginning to grow fat. He hadn't objected to this at first, it made him the perfect pillow, but as a trainer he felt responsible for Swinub's well being. So he made it a point to venture deep into Route 101 early in the morning while the sun was still yet to rise. Such a pleasant landscape.
After hours of grueling wild encounters, it was high time to return to Littleroot and rejuvenate Broski, who by now was trembling out of exhaustion. But soon as he arrived Dmitri set back out for Route 101, coming across a trainer and her... Sandile? It was quite a surprise to find so many fresh pokemon in Hoenn region so soon.
"Cute Pokemon, but his burp is probably worse than his bite. My pinky is bigger than his jaw; I'll prove it." He held up his pinky and wiggled it at the stranger, forgetting his manners to exchange names. Dmitri expected it would be yet another foreign name he couldn't comprehend and typically deigned from greetings in favor of battling.
To him it was as good a hello as any, but perhaps this wasn't quite that ordinary at all. He certainly wasn't ordinary by any means.
I hope that thing isn't going to burn Broski to a crisp. Dmitri had overlooked the pokemon's typing since he was too busy tossing Swinub straight towards the scaled beast he would soon learn to respect.

she peered up at the boy, her sculpted brows raising in unison as she processed his abrupt greeting that came in the form of a challenge. she took no offense to it, and actually found the insult fairly amusing. her pokemon responded by snapping his jaws threateningly toward the human boy, a snarl escaping him as he responded to the insult.
"sand!"
"yer lookin' fer a challenge, huh? i like that in a man," she teased.
stand tall, andrea faced the stranger, eyeing him before grinning smugly.
"give 'em a show, kroc," she growled.
the sandile slowly crawled forward, beady eyes gleaming with malice as he eyed his opponent.
"a fuckin' swinub?"
the girl squinted at the easily identifiable creature. it appeared quite young, just like her own sandile did.
"lady's first, huh?"
"sand!"
"gimmie a leer! followed by a bite!"
the ground-type's eyes grew red, and he hastily proceeded to cast the ice-type a glare. after finishing up this simple move, he rushed forward, surprisingly swift on his feet as he moved to chomp down on the poke.

"Broski, do a barrel roll! Followed it up with Freeze-Dry!" Swinub would carefully avoid the incoming Sandile's aggressively clamping jaws with a narrow breadth betwixt the pokemon. This was followed shortly by a quick snort of harrowing wind which seemed to glaze over the Sandile from his perspective. Did Broski land that? It should've hurt.
"Sandile seems pretty fiesty for little guy!" It troubled him that Sandile knew Leer and had executed it perfectly, but Broski had a typing advantage. For now he felt confident it could win, yet something within him suggested this trainer knew plenty more than he did. Hang in there, Broski. His right hand clenched into a fist out of anxiety and stress. What a rush! This is the best.
Broski's Attack was lowered! Broski's Defense was lowered! Broski evaded Bite! Broski used Freeze-Dry!

the land reptile hurried to maneuver around the attack, face twisting into a grimace as he narrowly avoided the windy assault that would have chipped away at his very weakness. andrea was startled by the show of power herself. but she was also intrigued, her eyes widening as she eyed the plump bundle of fur that had ushered in the strike.
"sand-ile!"
the ground-type released another low growl, mouth parting to reveal pointed teeth.
"leer!"
andrea was eager to lower this things defense, realizing that a lengthy battle could possibly result in her pokemon's defeat. she had to do this quick, fast, and in a hurry. hopefully sandile could pull through.
"sand!"
another glow of crimson covered his beady gaze.
"bite!"
he lunged forward, snarling furiously as he sought out the creature's stout figure with his teeth.

"Broski, tank it like a champ!" Despite expending the use of leer twice, Dmitri felt reassured that Broski had the defensive attributes to withstand it and remain healthy. He watched the bite clamp down on Swinub's exposed flank as it tried to make a getaway in anticipation of a dodge command.
We goofed up. The lack of synchronization cost Swinub nearly a third of his entire vitality. He seemed to squirm for a moment in pain, and Dmitri felt he was to blame. Dammit, this isn't good...
"Just keep using Freeze-Dry! Don't give in!" Dmitri had a gut feeling this was already the determining factor; so easily had he recklessly allowed Broski to get himself injured. Despite this the Swinub volleyed Freeze-Dry at the Sandile twice consecutively, hoping to land some effective hits to even out the score for Broski's sake.
Broski was effected by Leer! Broski's was hit by Bite! Broski used Freeze-Dry! Broski used Freeze-Dry!

"shit!"
the sandile writhed in agony as the terrible chill bit into his scales and dug into the flesh underneath. he barely resisted the urge to stand idle as icy tendrils crept throughout the entirety of his form. he moved - wiggled - and writhed in order to keep the frozen sensation at bay. he barely took notice to the second strike until his mistress spoke up.
"move! dodge it!"
he did as he was told with some difficulty, snapping his jaws and hurrying to avoid the frigid assault. once again, it was a close call, and it ultimately left the ground-type tired and weary.
"bite! twice!"
the pokemon hurried toward the plump creature, gathering up the remainder of his energy in order to pull off the precise move. andrea's hands curled into fists as she eyed the attempted assault, hoping desperately that the creature's lowered defense coupled by her sandile's effectiveness via physical attack would result in a win.

"Intercept Bite with Tackle!" Sandile was being worn out, the chill of ice claiming any torpidity left inside. Soon Dmitri expected it would faint, though it rushed swiftly to answer its trainer's call. Wait a second... the Leer-!
Swinub was wedged into the Sandile's mouth, having likely discomforted the crocodile but it made Broski prey to the jaw's massive pressure. Broski may have landed the hit, but at a cost. Swin-nu!~ Shrieking in agony, Broski tried to lay still to avoid the pain of the bite. Yet Sandile crunched down harder again and Swinub let out an exhausted whimper before fainiting. ... He did well. I am proud of you, Broski. A pokeball withdrew Broski from the jaws of defeat as the Sandile stood there triumphantly.
"I must say, I thought my type would make it too easy. Good to see maybe trainers here are not pushovers; it was a good challenge!" Dmitri Khvostov paced over towards the trainer with a hand held behind his head scratching at the nape of his neck. His left extended out in greetings, and he made ammends for his earliest remarks.
"Just wanted a good battle, I hope you can forgive the manners. Sandile is okay pokemon, will have to watch out for them in future. The name's Dmitri, by the way. To who do I owe the pleasure of having been defeated?" Dmitri eyed her patiently, curious to find out the name of the first trainer to have ever defeated him.

the sandile was barely clinging on, but he managed to mentally process his victory once the plump ice-type had collapsed. his mouth snapped shut once the pokemon was returned. moments later, he was gathered in the arms of his female coordinator whom pressed him gently against her warmth. it was somewhat... nice.
"sand..."
"that's my good boy," she crooned.
she looked to the tall boy, eyeing him curiously at first before responding to his praise with a wolfish grin.
"'course. kroc's a lil' bad ass, ya know? he's gonna be even better when he evolves."
the woman adjusted the ground-type, making sure he was plenty comfortable. he released a soft growl in response to her attentions. it lacked any animosity, so, she took it as a good sign.
"name's andrea. andrea warren. nice to meet ya, dmitri. 'mm a coordinator," she said.
andrea balanced kroc with one arm before extending her recently freed hand to grasp at his. her handshake was firm.
"nice pokemon ya got there, too. my ma had one of 'em. only it was a piloswine. evolved when i was, like, ten or somethin'."
Post by Dmitri Khvostov on Jun 30, 2015 9:34:29 GMT
"Broski too will be Piloswine one day, I hope it is something to remember. Have you made it to the first gym yet, by chance? I've been meaning to make my way there soon once I catch another Pokemon." Clasping his hand with hers they shook, his hands brushing her skin. Soft, maybe she's not as experienced as a trainer as I thought. She distinguished herself as a coordinator, which seemed to make sense.
"Have you met many trainers here in Hoenn? I've been wondering just how many there will be for me to battle. I'm going to try and take on the Pokemon Gym challenge, one stepping stone at a time." He poked a finger towards Sandile's mouth playfully, and wouldn't be surprised if it snapped at him so he kept a safe distance. Broski needs time to train on wild pokemon before I throw him into the grinder against other trainers. He remembered the pokeball at his side suddenly, then realized the need to find a pokecenter.
"I've got to find a PokeCenter...; you care to tag along? Sandile might need a look-over, too." Andrea seemed like a girl who was as down to earth as the ground she walked on. Dmitri thought her company would be enjoyable, expecting all sorts of outbursts of her previous adventures if she had any. At the very least, she can probably spin a tale or two. He held no doubt she would spicen things up along the trip to Oldale Town.
"yeah to both. been wanderin' 'round a lot, actually," andrea replied.
when he offered to accompany her to the next pokecenter, the woman opened her mouth to refuse the offer before realizing that the man lacked any amount of pokemon due to her fainting his only one available to him. it would be best to keep with him 'till they reached the safety of this next town.
"sure, why not? i bet ya got a good chance of winnin' with yer ice-type there, by the way," she said.
she decided to take the initiative and stepped toward where the next city was located. they maintained a good pace, the girl eager to heal her wounded pokemon. sandile would move occasionally, blinking his eyes open and shut all the while.
"sand..."
"you good, bud," she questioned.
"sand, sand."
"wanna go back in yer capsule?"
the small pokemon shook his head, the movement slight but noticed by the female coordinator, nonetheless. she smiled a little.
Post by Dmitri Khvostov on Jul 1, 2015 3:40:22 GMT
"I'm from a far away foreign region, you've probably never heard of it." Though there was little interesting in the way of pokemon along their way to the pokecenter, Dmitri made an effort to keep them both pacified.
"Thanks for the compliment. I was told by my parents Broski would never become that strong" It took him a moment to gain his composure before elaborating on a boring story about how Broski would never meet the pinnacle of his strength.
"They say a Mamoswine's attack is undeniable, and this is true. But many Ice-type moves are special, and don't take advantage of his raw muscle. There are moves they're known to learn, but it requires specific breeding for them to know the move early on. Broski hasn't been bred so specially, he may never learn to use his full power." He became discomforted by the tone he'd set for the conversation, and tried to wrap it up quickly.
"I wanted my Swinub to become my strongest pokemon, but I'm honestly not sure how to take this news. It doesn't seem fair for Broski to be down and out before he's even started. But my family's breeders were some of the best back home, so I don't doubt their knowledge." Dmitri felt petty for bringing it up, but perhaps this was his ego trying to sooth itself. Man, I what's with me all of a sudden? He heard a pokemon cry out in the distance and turned his attention to it. Eh, Sandile can probably manage another battle or two before he's beat. We'll be fine.
andrea's gaze sparkled with a genuine show of interest as he mentioned breeding. she hadn't encountered too many breeders - but the ones she did were the observant sort. they painstakingly calculated a pokemon's worth and potential before deciding which would be a preferable pair to breed. andrea didn't find the whole idea appealing as a choice of career since it involved raising pokemon from scratch on multiple occasions.
"hm."
then again. she was in the process of raising her bagon, snivy and even her recently acquired sneasel. and they were getting along well enough. surprised by her own ability to manage a multitude of young pokemon in quick succession, a small smile formed onto her face as she was reminded of those precious moments spent tending to them.
"i'm sure it'll get there," she reassured. "sandile here don't got any special moves. bet his parents were wild, too. but he still has potential, yeah? i bet he could beat any pokemon that comes his way once he's bigger. ain't that right, boy?"
the girl didn't recieve a response, but she grinned anyway, looking to her companion with a look of amusement.
"so, got any pokemon yer itchin' ta get? i own a good dozen, myself."
Post by Dmitri Khvostov on Jul 4, 2015 11:15:30 GMT
"A dozen?! Nice work." He scratched the back of his head awkwardly, feeling pressured to start catching pokemon left and right. Perhaps Dmitri would do well to start by catching a few pokemon useful for upcoming gym challenges. I haven't thought about it much, actually... Answering the question seemed more important for himself than Andrea's inquiry. He thought on the matter delicately.
"Maybe a Fighting-type, or something really challenging. I've always wanted a Dragon-type, but those are said to be rare and tough as nails. Catching a Dragon-type has been an ambition of mine since I was a kid; it's part of the reason I chose Broski outright." And he makes a great pillow. He got all fuzzy inside just thinking about all the times Broski and him spent outside back home, taking in the aurora borealis in awe and sleeping in a herd of Piloswine.
Those were the days, eh, buddy? He rubbed Broski's pokeball sentimentally.
"Maybe once I get some more pokemon and raise them to be strong, we could have another battle?! I need someone to keep me striving for new heights if I want to become better!" Dmitri rummaged in his backpack for a notebook and turned to a blank page. Scribbling some roughly hewn data on a strip of paper he tore it from the notebook and forced it towards Andrea.
Post by andrea warren on Jul 11, 2015 14:44:54 GMT
the coordinator hesitantly reached out to accept the torn sheet, a bit startled by the random action. another smile slipped onto her face as she eyed the information. the girl produced a phone - inputting the information into her electronic device. after this, she tucked it into a random pocket of her pack before shifting her gaze toward him.
"i'm up fer it anytime. bet yer gonna be an absolute boss sooner than later with that attitude, yah?"
she glanced at his pokeball, her facial features brightening as she noted the affectionate gesture he made toward the red and white sphere.
"yer a trainer. so i bet yer gonna make it far."
andrea took in her surroundings, noting that the path they were close to their goal. she spotted the buildings in the far distance - they would split up sooner rather than later, it seems.
"i like ya, dmitri. have i said that? not sure. i forget half of the shit that comes out of my mouth. but ya give me a good feelin'. nice ta run into folk like ya."
genuine warmth caused her features to crinkle as her smile widened considerably.
"i'd love ta keep in contact, yeah? also, noticed that ya have a notebook there. you a writer or somethin'?"
