Risu Keji You didn't warn me! ▼ | Risu had been recently through quite a bit in his travels thus far, however he had yet to have his first real battle. Maybe now that he has some breathing room away from his brother he would be able to battle a trainer. That way he could really spread his wings and win some real battles. After catching a psychic type he felt like he was on top of the world. Three Pokemon being ready to battle at the maximum output he could go.
What could come out here in route 104? A strong trainer hopefully, in fact the first person he sees he will challenge to a battle. Hopefully not in a rude way.

Route 104 was no longer as popular as it was back when the Petalburg festival had attracted dozens of tourists to its beaches. That being said it did not mean that the scenery was no longer beautiful. Syndra had been jogging through the route now that it had been more vacated and she could honestly say that it was still impressive. Now that less people were around she could enjoy the afternoon scenery more thoroughly in peace and quiet. Being halfway through her jog the girl had now decided to take a break, sitting alone on the side of a grassy steep slope that gave a good vantage of the road below as well as the sky above.
With a deep breath of the salty air from the nearby beaches, Syndra eventually spotted the blonde hair of a passing trainer on the road. "Oi!" she called out while waving her arm to catch the attention of whoever it was. She assumed that whoever it was had been traveling to Rustboro or at the least to Mr Briney's place for a ride on his boat and she was curious one way or another. "Where are you headed?" she managed to bellow with the breeze carrying her words downwards. She hoped that he would heed her call and walk over to her. If the mystery person didn't respond to her then she would have made her way over.

Risu Keji You didn't warn me! ▼ | Risu stared off in the distance before anything began to happen. He had heard something carry off into the wind. "Oi! Where are you headed?" Someone was calling out to him and not his brother?! 'Okay Risu act cool! Just the first person you meet on your journey, wait didn't you tell yourself you'd challenge the first person!?' He thought to himself before he knew it he was in a squat position thinking about this whole situation. Arms bent in a ninety degree fashion almost like he was some anime character or something. Before he knew it the person was walking his way he decided he would meet her half way. He left his ridiculous position and started walking towards her.
"I am not heading anywhere particularly I was just adventuring." He smiled and offered a hand to shake hers. "My name is Risu, Keji." Being a very direct person he introduced himself it wasn't going to be long before he decided to have a battle with this girl.

As Syndra began walking down the slope she caught the strange pose that the stranger went into. Instantly her brow rose up in confusion of the sight. Perhaps she had said something wrong? She didn't stop however. Eventually she had gotten her answer and what was provided caused her lips to curl upwards in a smirk. "What a coincidence. I'm the same," she declared in a somewhat sing song way. Thankfully the mystery passerby had seemed to recover from whatever breakdown he had and approached her as well instead of running in the opposite direction. With the first introduction being pushed forth the female took his outstretched hand in hers gently to complete the handshake. "My name is Syndra Mawdrey. Nice to meet you."
Well that was one thing out of the way. To be fair the girl was surprised that the other was the first to offer his name with his initial reaction. Deciding to not mention it Syndra placed her hands behind her back in a placid manner. "I hope I'm not bothering you too much."

Risu Keji You didn't warn me! ▼ | The boy listened he knew it wasn't just a coincidence most people that become trainers go on an amazing journey. It was strange to hear that this girl almost as whimsical as he is. Possibly even more she was even singing her response back to him. Risu heard her name, Syndra he would remember it. This was now as good as time as ever to announce his challenge.
Risu calmed himself before getting too excited in this situation. "I know we don't know each other but I feel like we can get to know each other easily if we had a battle." He smiled he didn't want to make it look like his first battle. He felt confident enough after his first two battles.

The way the blonde put his challenge was pleasant. It didn't leave a bad taste in her mouth nor was it forceful like back when she had first begun her journey. That said she wasn't sure how much experience this trainer had. She knew her own pokemon were no pushovers but that didn't mean that she wanted to push the other's pokemon over. "Ah... I don't mind at all if that's what you want." There was some hesitance in her voice but she relented to the idea nonetheless. Trainers were to be prepared for battle whenever their eyes met and while this wasn't exactly a thing nowadays, Syndra didn't like to reject any challenge with that in mind. Briskly walking a few steps back to create enough room between them for their pokemon to battle, the female unclipped a pokeball from her belt first to throw into the air. Midfall the device opened and with a dance of light the somewhat dazed psychic type known as Abra appeared on the field.
The Abra looked about his surroundings curiously, not quite getting to his feet yet as he did. "Feel free to make the first move." She was sure by then the psychic type would get the gist of the situation and battle. After all, unlike most of his species this Abra knew how to fight if he wanted to.

Risu Keji You didn't warn me! ▼ NOTES Syndra Mawdrey
Toki Level 9 Moves:Vaccum-Wave, Quick-attack,Leer, Pursuit,Focus energy Hit points: 100% Moves used: Focus Energy, Quick attack Dodges: 2/2 | Risu took a few steps back just to be sure with the range, he tossed out a pokeball, out came Toki. Toki had let out a battle cry. He knew he was going to have to be serious about this one. He reached towards his pocket and grabbed his glasses and put them on. He couldn't have his first battle where he was blind as a bat that would just be disrespectful to his pokemon. "Alright this how friendships are born!" He pointed his hand with one finger in to the sky. "Let's have a fun one Syndra!" He glanced at Toki and nodded.
"Toki, use focus energy!" He yelled towards his bipedal'd bug friend. With these words being said Toki began to glow an orange hue. Toki had began to get pumped! "Time to get up close and personal! Quick attack!" And just like that Toki almost vanished, there was a stream of white passed where Toki was heading towards which was obviously straight to Abra.

This guy sure was energetic. His over the top actions and statements even had Syndra caught off guard. That said she chuckled at the words and shook her head at what she saw as silly antics. It was cute in a childish way. "Alright! Let's have fun!" Her words were called back out in an upbeat way to play along with this. Abra having shaken off his dazed state stood onto his feet to eye his opponent. He wasn't too keen on battling as of this moment but stood in a battle stance regardless.
The first command given signaled the start of the fight. Flicking his tail left to right he mentally linked with his trainer for instructions. Syndra hearing the echo of her Abra's voice in her mind the girl told him to be prepared for a counter strike. The quick attack that was used however was such a fast pace move that even if Abra wanted to, he couldn't much dodge other than teleport haphazardly. So instead he took the attack head on while bracing for impact. "Thunder Punch!" Syndra would call out. The Abra took hold onto the green pokemon and clenched his tiny fist with enough energy for sparks to start flaring off of it. Two consecutive electrified punches were made to the bug type to down it as fast as possible.

Risu Keji You didn't warn me! ▼ NOTES Syndra Mawdrey
Fukeyo Pound, Disable, Hypnosis Level 6 Dodges 2/2 Moves used: Pound, disable | Risu watched as his ace in the hole was taken down so quickly just how strong was this trainer? Was it his fault for not thinking an Abra could have an electric type move? This wasn't a good thing to happen so soon in the battle. The blonde haired wonder started to think was he really even cut out for battling? He would have to go in order of his pokemon strengths right? That would mean his newest catch would be used. Fukeyo, their personalities clashed alright but maybe they could work together this time.
He returned Toki he wasn't disappointed in his pokemon just himself. "Alright Fukeyo let's show em what you got!" Out came a small yellow elephant, it was Drowzee. This pokemon wasn't as offensive as his other two, but it could work in strategy. He saw the elephant sit down on his bottom and yawn. It's not that Fukeyo didn't listen to him but rather that the Pokemon was lazy.
The Drowzee looked at Abra it was another Psychic type pokemon. All Fukeyo did was wink towards Risu, a symbol of them working together? Let's hope so. "Fukeyo , run up and use Pound. Wait for a counter attack and use Disable next!" The Pokemon did just that it seemed its movement to use pound was no where near as fast as Toki's however. Two steps every two seconds? Maybe Fukeyo was just slow and not lazy.

It wasn't surprising that the two electric attacks took out the Scyther quickly enough. The experience difference between the two pokemon were showing here. Looking over to her opponent however the male did have a look of distress to which she attributed to his pokemon's defeat. A frown tugged at the edge of her lips. She didn't want to take it easy on the boy in the case that she'd be called out on not taking the match seriously. It was rude if she had so she tried to steel past that. Her Abra helped in that he sense the thoughts of his trainer and gave her a judging look.
Nodding, they both waited for the next pokemon. The next pokemon that appeared was similar to Abra as they were both yellow pokemon and psychic types. That said Syndra had a weird vibe about the other's pokemon. Counting her blessing as to not have been with such an awkward pokemon, she looked to her Abra. "Let's finish this quick. Shadow Ball!" Knowing that disable was called to be used, if she knocked out this drowzee with one move then all they would have to worry about was the last pokemon. With what was the team so far, it seemed rather likely unless it was a pokemon that could fight back against Thunder Punch.
Abra charged the ghastly energies within his tiny hands, the dark ball growing each second as the drowzee closed in. He could feel the energies locking up at the use of the disable move however and threw the attack the instant that happened. It was a bit late however as in the process of doing so the pound had connected to his side. Abra was still left standing but he was taking more injuries.

Risu Keji You didn't warn me! ▼ NOTES Syndra Mawdrey
Atsu Level: 4 Moves: Sratch, Defense Curl, Sand attack Dodges: 2/2 Moves used: Scratch (x2) | Risu was saddened once more he looked at the ground before returning his Fukeyo. It was almost what he had expected someone being leagues and way better than he was. This was nothing but pure excitement to him at this point. His goal now was not to win the battle but to take out Abra. "We might be losing... but as of now I am having fun." Risu spoke aloud his Drowzee while fainted at least was smiling it was something about a challenge that excited him and even the trainer himself. At this point he didn't expect to win the battle but he knew he could grow so much more as a trainer. While his strategy existed it was just used completely wrong and could he even say he found himself someone to measure his strength to?
"Syndra thanks for this battle it really means a lot to me!" After finally bringing Fukeyo to his Pokeball he sent out Atsu. "Atsu come on out!" Out came his smallest and weakest of his bunch though given the circumstances she was in she could win the battle with ease. So far he had seen two attacks from Abra. Thunder punch, and Shadow ball. Both moves he didn't expect from an Abra but at this point that means now his Atsu was untouchable.
The small shrew pokemon had an itch on her ear and scratched it with her hind leg before getting onto all fours ready to charge with an attack awaiting Risu's orders the small rodent had plenty of fight in her. "Atsu! Let's get up close and personal scratch!" He watched Atsu run up with an inbetween speed of Fukeyo and Toki she was still fast enough a problem he noticed was that she was running in a zig-zag formation. Does this mean she favored rolling in a ball more? The shrew Pokemon was next to Abra and began a scratch attack to its face with a follow up coming with her other hand.

She had expected disappointment. Defeatism. Anger. What she had receive was far from that. Instead she was thanked for accepting and battling the boy. While it was mildly shocking a smile played on the girl's lips. Her pokemon were obviously more experienced but she was happy that this battle was something he saw as helping him grow. It gave her hope and she nodded in acceptance of his words. "You're welcome," she replied with a wave. His final pokemon however was something that she both expected and did not want to see.
A Sandshrew. Seeing the pokemon reminded her of her own Sandshrew when it was younger and she had first caught it. That said both her and the abra had known that this battle was lost. With Abra's shadow ball still locked up from the Drowzee's restraints and the only offensive move was the electric type move, all they could do was stand there and take the hits. Syndra could have recalled the psychic type but she wanted him to get more endurance too. So without looking away she watched the Sandshrew close the gap between the two. The way it moved was different from how her sandshrew moved when she raised it before. That said this pokemon also appeared more obedient to her trainer which is a good thing.
The abra braced for the scratch attacks to hit. While they both connected he fell on his knees. There was nothing he could do to continue so rather than strain further he fell over onto the ground. "Return," his trainer finally called out as she recalled him with a stream of red light. Now she could have used her Sandslash here but with how the pokemon acted she didn't think that would be a good idea. Instead she brought out the pokemon she had used to capture her Sandshrew in the first place, switching the pokeballs in her hand and lobbing the new one into the air.
The large grass type appeared on the field with a bellowing cry. Shaking the bushes on his back after not being called on for so long, he gave a small greeting to his trainer before looking to his opponent. Just seeing it caused the turtle to reminisce about the beginning of his journey with Syndra. "Sorry Risu but this battle is over!" the girl would suddenly declare. She wasn't going to hold back now. "Grotle, Razor Leaf"

Risu Keji You didn't warn me! ▼ | Risu watched as he saw that the Abra had went down, they did it! They might not have won the battle but they won a round at least! It took his whole team to do so unfortunately. To think people could be this strong in an area like this. But it was too early to celebrate he thought this battle still had a ways t go. His partner Atsu looked at Risu in disbelief that she had won, given the circumstances it was great she did just what the plan called for. "Atsu counter that Grotle's leaves with Sand attack!" He called out Atsu had did just that and blocked a good portion with the Sand throwing it off course that was until the second round of leaves came right through.
A super effective move that must have hurt. He watched Atsu roll onto her back with a smile as well but swirling eyes. She was down for the count. He ran over and fell to his knees to Atsu. "You did a great job Atsu just rest now." He smiled at his small rodent and then looked at Syndra. "Thank you. I can't thank you enough for being my first battle." He smiled and gave a thumbs up while standing up straight. |

Wait what? "First battle? This was your first?" Syndra questioned this stunned at the comment. The strategy used was good and she was impressed that he hadn't been challenged earlier. Especially on route 101 where all the more ruder people lingered to challenge the newbies there. Walking up next to her Grotle to pat the turtle on the back for a job well done she looked back to Risu. "You did well for your first battle," she commented to which the Grotle showed agreement with a nod. Stealing glances at the younger ground type pokemon she went back to her belt and removed another pokeball to lob forward. This time a similar pokemon would be revealed among the lights as the quill covered pokemon parted the lights away from her.
She felt the need to call out the Sandslash to see the other Sandshrew. Part of her hoped that her pokemon would be reminded of those days and would return to being more obedient to what she said in battle. That said Sandslash didn't do much other than looking over the other ground type and huffing. "When I started my journey I had a sandshrew too so I wanted to call mine out to reminisce a bit."

Risu Keji You didn't warn me! ▼ | Risu looked at the pokemon that was brought out, a Sandslash?! He wouldn't think tha tSyndra would go easy on him. Then it dawned why didn't she switch her Abra out? Abra's normally have teleport, which causes people to play keep away for a while. However, he reminded himself that it didn't matter a loss was a loss. All he could do now was look towards the future and a possible rematch.
Atsu stared from Risu's knees at the Sandslash, her only thoughts were how did he get so strong. Seemed like someone she could look up to. There were no other ground types on Risu's team she smiled and began speaking to Sandslash. It constantly kept saying "Shrew.. Chru, Sandshrew" Risu looked he couldn't really understand what she was saying.
"Wow that's really impressive. How long has your journey been going?" He was pretty excited to have his first battle be against a trainer this strong as well as someone this friendly. It seemed his ground type had made a friend so why shouldn't he?
