Sylvester was sitting at a bench located at the entrance to Route 101. Why he chose to come back this time, he could not say. It seemed more like a gut feeling than anything else, resting his backpack on his lap, realizing that it was more empty than full. 'I will need to change that here soon enough. A visit to the nearest pokemart should help.' His mind soon left such thoughts alone as he leaned back, taking in the gentle breeze that just made the nice weather that much more enjoyable.
He waited here for something to happen. Perhaps a random pokemon appearing from out in the wild, or even a trainer making their way towards Route 101 for the first time. Whatever it may be, he kept his eyes and ears peeled, paying close attention to any being organic or sentient. Sylvester was bored, and needed something to do to occupy the vast amount of time he had set aside as both a trainer, and the wealthy son of a rich family. 'So darn boring here.'

This is it! Alfonzo had finally mustered the necessary courage to leave his home and begin a pokemon journey. He left with little more than a TM keepsake from his parents and a green dog that shocked him whenever he tried to pet it. Honestly, he only let the thing out to fight, because otherwise it terrified him.
He could see a bench up ahead, and a person sitting on it. Maybe they know their way around here? He couldn't be sure, but they seemed to be an adult. Their familiarity with the Route would be much greater than his, having lived indoors for a large fraction of his life.
"Excuse me, Mister." He waddled up to the bench, noticing how much taller this man was. Lankier too, and with a similar dark-haired complexion. Yet he was still very unalike Alfonzo. "Could you help me find my way? Pretty pleeeeease?~" He awaited a rebuttle.
He watched as the male gave him a stern gaze; He doesn't want to be bothered, it seems. Alfonzo grew glum, but then he remembered he might have something to persuade the trainer to help him on his mission.
"I-I've got a TM 65 I could teach your p-p-pokemon..." Does he know what #65 is? It was the only one Alfonzo knew by heart, though he was certain to learn more sooner rather than later.
"It contains Shadow Claw, a very powerful Ghost-type attack." What if his pokemon can't learn it?! It was a very real concern; he hoped the stranger did, for his own sake.

A sudden voice broke out before him, noticing the youngster nearing the bench and requesting assistance with maneuvering the trail leading through Route 101. "Uhh..." He was caught off-guard, listening further as the kid offered to teach his pokemon a TM, number 65 to be exact. 'Hmm.'
"Do you think a Honedge could learn that move?" Plucking a pokeball from within his coat, Sylvester summoned his most recent catch. Spawning before them was an ornate sheathe, housing a sword that featured a single eye located at the beginning of the hilt. "It's the only ghost type pokemon I have, unfortunately." Although, having any ghost pokemon was good news to him. Sylvester was proud of his catch.
"I guess teach her if you can, and then we'll be on our way." It was smart to receive payment for services before providing them if at all possible. Who knew if this kid was just lying to him, after all. Though, with the way he carried himself and spoke, he seemed more a coward than a criminal.

O-okay! But you better not abandon me... He was afraid of getting bullied, but complied anyways. If he betrays my trust, I'll just have to, I'll... He would break down crying, and probably lose himself in the woods, in all honesty.
"Bring out your pokeball and let me synchronize the machine." He brought up a special pokenav with an adaptation for teaching pokemon moves. It was hi-tech and invaluable, so letting pokemon outside of their pokeball near it was dangerous.
"*Bzzzzzz* And.... ta-dah!" He'll want to give it a test run, probably. He plucked the disc in the adapter and placed it in a casing back in his napsack. With that, he turned to the stranger and nudged him forward. "Let's go! Your side of the bargain, remember!?" Hopefully he didn't have to get more pushy; he could check Honedge's move along the way.

Allowing his pokemon back inside it's ball, he watched as the device the boy held buzzed, wondering if it had actually worked. Deciding against trying it out for now, Sylvester stood up and slung his backpack over his shoulders. "Alright then, let's get going." The way to Oldale Town was not very long, but regardless of that Sylvester made sure to keep an upbeat pace. He wanted to get rid of the extra wheel, being the kid, as soon as possible. He seemed a little timid, and Sylvester wasn't looking to play parent, even if only for a day.
"Shouldn't take very long. You could get there and back more than twice in one day." Which was the truth, though you'd want to start early, maybe. Depended on the person. Being as youthful as they were, it would likely prove less a challenge and more of a chore. "What's your name, kid?" Might as well get to know him a little, seeing as he was resourceful enough to be carrying around a TM device to teach pokemon.

"I'm just worried about getting lost!" Even with signs littering the sides of every road, he liked to go off the beaten path and find new places. But when he came back to the road, it was always in a different place, which made him lost.
"Alfonzo, most just call me Alf." He didn't mind if the stranger did either, but why ask for his name and not give his own? "What's yours?" Being in the company of someone who didn't give their name seemed suspicious. Did I make a mistake in trusting him? Is he one of those kidnappers? He doubted it, but his mind raced wildly with suspicions.

Nearing the final stretch of the trail, Sylvester could see the sign up ahead saying "Route 101 ends here" as well as another that read "Welcome to Odlale Town!" It was all pretty ornate, and it made Sylvester wonder why the kid was so afraid of getting lost. "My name is Sylvester Blackburne."
Maintaining his pace forward, he gestured towards the signs up ahead. "We're pretty much there now." He said, continuing his pace in that direction. "From there, you're on your own. Just stick to the trail, and you shouldn't get lost." Might as well give him some obvious advice before letting the youngling fend for himself. Finally encroaching the outer limits of Oldale Town, Sylvester began making his way ahead towards the next trail hoping the boy would not follow him.
"If we meet again and you need help, perhaps we can do something like this again. Until then, take care of yourself Alfonzo." Distancing himself from the kid, Sylvester made his way towards the next route, going onward to Petalburg City. He had yet to challenge their gym leader, and now he was much too confident not to...

It looks like this is the end of the road. Sylvester the stranger had made good on his side of the bargain, and like that they'd arrived at Oldale. It wasn't much, but it was better than being lost in the woods. I guess I should thank him. He turned to face Sylvester, his chin held high.
"Thank you, Sylvester." It felt weird using his name, he still didn't quite know him, but now that he knew the name he may as well call him by it. Alfonzo quickly sprinted down the rest of the road, leaving Sylvester at his back.
I can't believe it was that close by... They hadn't been walking long, but with Alfonzo's habits he would've dashed into the nearby woods, spun around in circles, and come out even farther away from his destination than he was before. Still, it was all in good fun.
He took a moment to take in the surroundings before trudging towards the pokecenter, eager to figure out about any contests that might be announced on the postboard there. Maybe I can win another TM... It would be nice to grow a collection, to help support his coordinator skills and other trainers as well.
