Joseph wondered about on his way to nowhere in particular. He joined Team Magma, only in search of the truth. With little no no answers found,he had no purpose. All that was left for him to do, was wonder. And so he wondered -- down the grassy path and through random towns. Keeping his mouth shut and avoiding eye contact.
Still, there was something that bothered him particularly about the battles he was in. Honedge, though tough and willing to fight to the very end, lacked a power that could secure him the win. Josoph blamed himself for this lack of power. If only he had trained more with Honedge. If only...

Oh no, it's getting dark! He could hear the snapping of twigs, the rustling of blades of grass as he wandered towards the next town in the evening twilight. I need to get out of here fast... He heard another snap, closer to him, and panicked. He booked it for the end of the road, running as fast as he could without looking back.
He rounded around a corner and bumped into something stern, falling back onto his rump. No, no, no, please no! He thought whatever was chasing him had caught up and blocked his path, and he looked at the figure with a fear stricken expression.
"Please don't eat me!" He started to cry, expecting pain and perhaps even death. He was a worrisome little kid, and knew more than was good for him. When he wasn't eaten alive, however, he looked up to see a dark man before him.
"Please help me, I think something's chasing after me!" He tugged at the man's pants, hoping to earn his trust and aid. I don't want to be here, I want to go home... He sniffed, stifling his tears and trying to calm down.
Maybe if the man helped, Alfonzo could offer him something to help him on his own mission.
Thud. The sound of something falling to the ground after crashing into him. Joseph peered down at it. A boy, seemingly scared out of his mind.
Joseph made no attempts to reassure the child. His stone-cold facial expression held true. But, in response to the child's request, he nodded in acceptance. He reached down and wrapped his long, thin fingers around one of the boy's arms. He then gently pulling the boy to his feet. AS he looked off into the distance, a stern raspy voice escaped his mouth. Where is your home?

"Littleroot, but th-that's not where we're going!" He tugged the stranger the opposite direction, assuring him that home wasn't his destination. He pointed down a road, leading to Oldale Town.
"I'm a Coordinator, and today's the start of my journey!" To avoid any further confusion, he wanted the stranger to realize where they should start heading. Anywhere but here would be okay, but Oldale's my next destination! Alfonzo tugged him along, trying to force him to move.
"I have a TM you might be interested in, if you just.. help... me! Gah..." Why's he so heavy!? Trying to force the man to accompany him was impossible, so coercing his assisstance with a bribe might be the ticket. If that didn't work, maybe blackmail? Alfonzo was desperate when it came to scary things.
From Joseph's hip, the tiny sword Pokemon watched the interaction between his trainer and the stranger. As the stranger tried to move Jospeh, the Honedge chuckled. A person as tall and lean as Joseph, how could one so small even think he could make him budge.
Feeling the movement of Honedge on his hip, Joseph brought his hand hand to his side and began tapping the tiny sword with his finger. This was his way of showing affection to the Pokemon.
With no further words said, Joseph began walking in the direction the boy pointed out. It seemed that the child needed a sword for hire. And, that was exactly what Joseph was. It was. perhaps, also the case that he didn't want to see a smile child scared and alone. Something like that would bring back memories of a time long ago when he was a scared and lonely child. Waving to the boy to keep up, he held his head upright.

"W-wait! I've seen one of those before!" He was leaning close to Joseph, despite being so unfamiliar with him. It was one of those tender moments between complete strangers that usually went without a single utterance. Alfonzo broke it out of excitement, however.
"I met someone with a Honedge just like that one! It can learn Shadow Claw, that's my TM #65." Why was he so excited? Because it meant he could return the favor for the man's help. He scrambled to get the pokenav adapter ready to teach the pokemon Shadow Claw.
"Make sure Honedge doesn't make any sudden movements. If he breaks this tech, it'll cost you more than a pretty penny!~" Seriously though, don't break it, I won't be able to replace it... He didn't dare threaten the man with the fact, merely suggest it would be best to be safe rather than sorry later.
"Aaaaaand... voila! Presto! Honedge knows Shadow Claw!~" It was hard keeping the machine level with Honedge while walking, but with Joseph guiding the way he could rest assured he didn't have to keep track of his surroundings much.
Though the boy's actions took him by surprise, Joseph's facial expression showed none of that. He simply peered down at the boy. His Honedge trembled slightly -- must be the effect of the TM -- but it soon began to hum in excitement. Joseph nodded in appreciation as his pace slowed to a stop. He pointed forward, revealing that they had reached their destination. The boy was not far from where he wanted to go after all. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a neatly wrapped cookie. He leaned forward as he handed it to the boy. A token of appreciation for teaching his Honedge a new move. He took a few steps back and then bowed to show respect to the young gentleman, and then slowly turned and began to walk in another direction from the town.

"Wow... Thanks, mister!" Maybe the world isn't such a bad place after all. People are still good. He bowed in return, though it wasn't his usual show of appreciation, and he ran off towards Oldale.
I wonder what Ma and Pa would say. It didn't matter now, they were a mile or so away at the very least. Alfonzo wasn't the best with geography, but he figured it would be awhile until he saw them again.
But at least with people like that lone stranger around, I don't have to be so worried. He quickly darted for a PokeCenter, out of the cold evening air where he was welcomed with decent warming. Ahhh, this is what I'm talking about! He noticed several tougher looking trainers at the only benches, and scooted away to avoid them.
Too late.
Hey, kid, get over here! What did they want from him? He turned around, staring at them, genuinely confused. Were they going to pick on him?
