Having taken a glance at his pokenav early in the morning, Silas was made aware that the Ranger association had finally determined a partner for him to work with. Crossing his fingers as he read over the information provided, he was relatively pleased to know it would be a girl. Though, contemplating as much, he wondered if things would get awkward between them. 'That would be the worst...' Silas hated it when things got awkward in any way. Especially when he was the epicenter of it all.
Following their explicit instructions to meet with her on at the entrance to Route 103, Silas sat leaning against a tree, simply gazing around at things before falling asleep. He was up late the prior night, and it seemed to be taking it's toll on him. He began to dream about a black-haired girl following him around earlier, but that wasn't the worst part.
The dream ended with her choking him out. He woke up startled, realizing what had just occurred. Though he felt as though he had blacked out, it was quite the contrary. 'Just a dream...' He told himself. 'Get over it.' But that was when he heard the footsteps of someone approaching him, realizing that the face was familiar...
It was the one and only dream girl. 'Have mercy...'

[attr="class","abar"] Freyja was in a sour mood, and for a girl like her, life was dictated by the whims and fancies of her fickle mind and thoughts. Right now, she felt like pulling her scarf apart and choking someone to death, and because of her inability to not show off her expression, she more or less looked like it as well. Her sourness was probably the result of not having any alone time for a while. She had been dragged off by one of her friends to some sort of annoying formal event, and had been subjected to heavy doses of socializing. It had been a terrible experience she wanted to forget.
However the next result was her ankle spraining, and she hadn't been able to dance idly by herself as a result. Now, the next day, she was grouchy and did not want people around her at all. Yet of course the Rangers Association had always had a knack for pissing on her plans, and she had received a lovely fax all about her new partner. Ugh.
She was now walking to Petalburg, semi-hoping she wouldn't run into him at all and she could make a detailed fictitious report about how her partner fell victim to a bear attack. But instead, there he was, wacky silver hair and creepy eyes and all. She sighed when she reached a friendly distance with him, putting her hand to her forehead in a salute.
"I'm Freyja, Cadet, yadda yadda ranger blah. You are?"
She was obviously too used to the routine, given how many rangers she had met, the prior meetings having a 50/50 success rate of actually being okay in her book.

"Cadet Silas..." He replied reluctantly, a distinct feeling of desperation coming over him as he returned the salute. 'She doesn't look happy at all...' Not to mention she had the perfect scarf to tie around Silas' neck and hang him from the tree he currently leaned against. "Nice to...meet you?" He would have offered his hand to her for a formal shake, but he feared for the sake of his appendage if he dared to. "Are you doing alright?" He took a gulp...
It seemed best to turn the discussion matter towards her, that way Silas could not be targeted by her for any reason. Not unless she felt like lashing out, anyway. "You seem pretty tense." Oops. That would probably do it. If she was angry, making her talk about it was not going to help much. His life was probably going to be over in the next few moments, as she vented on Silas because he was the only thing close enough for her to reach...

[attr="class","abar"] Yeah, her scarf really was the perfect murder weapon. But if she killed her partner it would be hard to write a report about a bear attack, so whatever. Not like she could pull off something that elaborate and get away with it, no. That';s why she became a ranger. To kick at criminals in a simple, effective way that lacked all the complex thinking needed from a vigilante. She glanced at her partner, and scoffed a little. He looked ridiculous with his white hair and strange eyes, and even weirder considering how, ever since she had come to Hoenn, these kinds of people had become the norm.
Silas...another name that sounded all too suspiciously like the name of some herb or spice of some kind. She stuck her chin into her scarf, hiding the creepy smirk that appeared as a result of that thought. It wasn't her fault that smiles came out all weird. She grunted and mumbled a "You too" but thanks to the scarf and her own reluctance to open her mouth, it sounded like something close to the snort of a wild boar. Not that she would have complained.
She looked up at his question, her brown eyes hesitantly contemplating the offer. It was a dangerous question, the one he asked. She could say the truth, that is, 'no' and then be susceptible to a question of why, or she could lie and be exempt from the question altogether. Formulating an answer, she decided, would take effort. But, he was supposed to be a partner, and her eyebrows furrowed. She didn't want to have a totally boring relation with someone that she was stuck with. Even if his name did sound like a spice.
"No," she huffed, and, ignoring proper conversation, pointed angrily to her left foot- the one that had been sprained. She shifted her weight to it in an obvious manner, and then winced and quickly shifted back to the right foot. The exercise seemed futile because she was in an even more sour mood now. Pain was not exactly her favorite thing.
"Yeah?" she snapped, annoyed. "What's it to you?" She'd regret it later, but for now, she was plain grouchy.
