If this was how it was going to be then so be it. Determined to leave slateport behind and advance further. As far away as she could from the events and the people that caused such an event, Syndra had not stopped at the city she originally envisioned stopping at. Much less jovial than she was when the journey first began the green haired girl had a new goal and was more determined than ever to get to where she needed to be. The goal was get ahead now and sight see later. By her side was her Alakazam who refused to leave her alone anymore along with her red haired partner Miles who she agreed to have as a traveling buddy from then on until the dust blew over. The plan was to at least make it to Lavaridge before doubling back and heading towards the east coast but all the way they were going to train their pokemon so that nothing would surprise them. "We should practice here while we can. Unless you want to keep moving forward for awhile first."

Things were still admittedly awkward between the two, with everything that'd come to pass that evening it was obvious it'd take time to heal the various wounds that currently held them down. She'd told him what happened after their own little incident and following that he refused to let her travel alone as chauvinistic as it may have been he cared deeply for the girl and refused to let any harm come to pass over her. He was strong enough to hold his own as was she, but backup didn't hurt it seemed like her enemies, and now his by extension also had a fair bit of backup as well.
What exactly he'd gotten himself into he didn't know entirely, certain names rang a bell as they were people he'd met under different circumstances when they'd first started this journey of theirs. What was once jovial and exciting was now quiet, and introspective. In fact he hadn't said too much himself as they traveled down the route more in his own head than anything else. When she speaks up for the first time in a while ready for a battle he complies, knowing he's gotten a bit more lax recently. "Sure let's not waste too much time then, yeah?" With that the trainer drops a pokeball releasing an Ivysaur more than ready for a good fight.
As Miles agreed to the battle Syndra nodded in both thankfulness and acknowledgement. He threw out a grass type first. A familiar one at that, the evolved form of Bulbasaur. It felt like days ago that it had first hatched. Yet at the same time that time also felt like decades. Deciding that it was only a matter of time the female trainer decided to fight with disadvantaged on her end to get her own pokemon prepared for such a thing. "Sandslash, let's go." With a lob of a pokeball at her side the ground type appeared with a defiant huff. "Now now, consider this training. Use Magnitude." The move used wasn't supposed to be effective in the slightest. Both the trainer and pokemon knew this. Yet at the same time Sandslash was intrigued. This time the ground type obeyed and stomped her feet on the ground.

The strategy with Ivysaur these days was focusing on it's survivability. The pokemon had a lot of heart and moves that really complented that heart. As long as Ivysaur could last typically the grass type managed to pull of a win. The trainers first moves catering to the pokemon's strong suit. "Leech Seed Poison Powder!" The trainer called casually and as such the grass type complied releasing a series of poisonous spores hidden among the spores were various sprouting seeds the would leech life from the ground type pokemon if they hit. All the while earthly tremors shot at Ivysaur dealing moderate damage but not nearly enough to knock the pokemon off his feet.
Sandslash was confident. Egotistical at that. Remaining still she took both attacks. The leech seed hit the ground type and began sprouting vines around her body as the purple powder felt as if she was inhaling fire that burned through her innards. It was enough to bog down the pokemon and stress her body. Syndra watched on and while initially she was going to have her Sandslash dodge it, it was a good piece of training to at least help the ground type withstand such attacks in the future. "How are you feeling Sandslash?" The ground type gave a mild grunt in response. "Run forward and use Crush claw." Another less effective move than something like Fury Cutter or Poison Sting but yet again Sandslash complied as she tried to run up and crash her claw down into the grass type as her energy felt as if it was being sapped.
Sandslash, ground-type (sand rush) Level 28
Hit by poison powder and leech seed. Used Crush claw

The hits take effect Miles watching ever so carefully as energy returned to Ivysaur at a more than decent pace. The grass type soon after was struck by the sandslash's claws in a way far stronger than normal if not for the constant drain the technique would have been more than enough to knock the ground type out With his hp low Ivysaur's ability would activate the pokemon gaining a green aura of sorts something the trainer was waiting for. "Vine whip twice over." His voice wasn't excited no it was far more solid now expecting results almost as the whips fly forth from the pokemon's budding flower striking the Sandslash multiple times. The question was whether the boosted vinewhips would be enough to finish it off.
Overgrow. It was an ability that her own Grotle had demonstrated once upon a time so the appearance of it wasn't too surprising to her. The Vine whip on the other hand was more surprising. Sandslash looked as if she wanted to attempt to block or dodge the move however with the burning sensation from the poison and growing vines that impeded her movement she could not. The first vine struck across her underbelly which caused major damage. The second smacked her in the face which had her flinch in pain. Toppling over from all the pain and damage the ground type fell forward onto her belly to signal that the battle was over. "Impressive. Sandslash return," Syndra called as she recalled the ground type to her pokeball. Alakazam intrigued as well stepped forward ready for his own turn. Despite being fully evolved the pokemon wasn't as skilled or experienced as the rest of her pokemon so she was actually happy the pokemon was willing to fight now. "Seems like my Alakazam wants to be next. So pick your next one too."
Alakazam, psychic-type (synchronize) Level 19
Hit by Vine Whip x2 and fainted Switch to Alakazam

"I try." There's no real humor in his voice his eyes not as light as they once were. The next pokemon to step up was her Alakazam one of if not her strongest pokemon. In response the trainer calls out one of if not his strongest pokemon the pokeball releasing a massive sea serpent that also looked more than ready to battle the normally kind pokemon staring her opponent down understanding the general mood of the battle. Regardless of feelings between them the two were trainers and rivals at that it was a bond to be both honored and respected. There was no going easy on each other. "I'll take the first move Dragon Rage twice over." The large dragon-esque pokemon quickly firing two powerful blasts of purple energy at the Psychic type.
Syndra noticed that Miles had less joy in his tone too and the female couldn't bring herself to comment. It was her fault after all but she wasn't the same as she once was either. Alakazam avoided the first attack, agile in evading the mythical breath that the water type spewed the second hit flawlessly. A mild stinging sensation but Alakazam was working through enduring the pain. "Thunder Punch" The psychic type was special in the fact that he was one of the few of his kind to know said move. Clenching one of his spoon holding hands into a fist, the psychic type pushed through the dragon rage while gathering electrical energy. The sparks that emitted from his hand made the scene look like one out of a contest as the Alakazam brought the fist up to punch straight into the body of the serpentine water type. Following up another electrical punch was delivered towards the serpent's face aiming to lower its gigantic frame towards the ground.
Alakazam, psychic-type (synchronize) Level 19
Hit by Dragon rage and dodged one. Used thunder punch 2x

His eyes watch the first attack connect the second purple blast missing by a fair margin only for the Psychic type to do something unexpected. The pokemon's fists charged with electric energy once he saw the sparks he knew this one would end quickly. He refuses to turn away the large sea serpent was too big to dodge the the fists especially on land in a constricted environment and so the pokemon succumbed to its fate quickly both thunderous fists crashing into its scaly underbelly knocking it out almost immediately. He watches the girls expression as if she has something to say to him, he has an idea but it wasn't the time after the battle he'd confront her angst. It was his job to be there for her and it was a job he took very seriously even if it was self imposed. "That was a surprise... You did good gyrados." the trainer finishes recalling the water pokemon to its pokeball before releasing his next.
Larvesta ready for a good battle especially against a trainer she felt some kind of way about.
Gyrados hit by thunder punch x2 Faints Larvesta is on Standby. Syndra Mawdrey
Seeing the Larvesta there was a sight to behold. It was a long time since she had seen the fire bug type. The pokemon still didn't look pleased to see her. Not once did she remember that being different. But still it was the first pokemon that Miles had and so she decided to do the same. Throwing out her next pokeball as Alakazam returned to her side, Grotle emerged from the flash of light and roared into the sky. This was training as well. "Try not to get too burned and endure alright Grotle?" The grass type gave a gruff grunt in response. "Let's try curse" A strange ghastly aura surrounded the grass type that seemed to make the turtle look more sluggish than usual. Other than that nothing else changed.

It was a familiar matchup indeed whether it was for Nostalgia or something else entirely the man doesn't know however this matchup was definitely in his favor and he planned to take full advantage of it. Almost as if knowing the next hit would be hard she orders the larger grass type to prepare itself for the next attack. "Fire Blast twice over." The bug pokemon more than happy to comply igniting the five sun like points surrounding its face each flame large before firing the massive flaming attack at the Grass type and for good measure the pokemon repeats the process firing a secondary blaze just as powerful as the last.
Oh yeah... how did she forget that? Miles was with her when Kristmar had taught their pokemon fire blast. Thus when the attack was ordered Syndra's paused in mild recollection and shock. "Grotle dodge!" The first one the grass type managed to evade however the second wasn't so lucky as the large blast of fire engulfed the grass type destructively. Needless to say the turtle toppled to the ground without much of a fight after this. There was mild disappointment felt not because of Grotle but towards herself due to her not remembering that move and placed her pokemon in danger. "Return!" So far the record was two to one in Miles' favor. Not wanting to lose still the girl pulled out another pokeball. Throwing it forward another flash of light revealed the small multi tailed fox ready for action. "Get Ready Vulpix."
Vulpix, fire-type (flash fire) Level 22
Takes Fire blast and dodges one. Grotle Faints Vulpix sent in.

Larvesta was far too pleased with her win earning the small pokemon a scowl he still doesn't understand what exactly the fire type has against the stranger, but it's of no consequence now he supposes. With that he does praise the bug pokemon for her hard work before calling the pokemon back to its pokeball. It seems the next pokemon chooses itself Scizor appearing from the next pokeball ready for his own fight now. The opponent is one of the worst it could ask for still the over confident steel type stands tall ready for battle. The pokemon knew not of how to back down.
"Take it easy, stay calm and aerial ace." The scizor doesn't heed the trainer's warning but does follow his attack pattern dashing forward to strike with a single Aerial ace.
Scizor? The choice wasn't expected but she would take it. The aerial ace attack wasn't one that was dodged so easily. Like a bug it flew above the fire type before diving straight towards her front side. The attack struck and the fox took a few steps back but stayed on her feet. Syndra released a breath, "Let's return the favor. Fire Blast." The same move as the Larvesta the fox inhaled a large breath and roared out a blast of searing flame at the red pokmemon before it could back out of the way from its attack in front of her. Another stream of fire came as well in an attempt to finish the battle quickly. It was somewhat lucky that the type advantage fell in her favor this time.
