hello calamity! we're nearing the two months mark in a few weeks. how time flies! right now we have two things going on that need your participation. the first is an activity check! it is impotant that you check in so you don't lose your face claim. the second is the otm nomiations! we're doing it a bit different than last time. so please submit your nominations in. a vote thread will be up in the next few days. there will also be a formal event coming very soon, so keep your eye out for that. keep being cool!
we're currently about to host calamity's first contest in slatepor. trainers are flocking to the city to see, the city's been trying to get good pr since the gala, and it seems to be working! they're asking for both coordinators and volunteer judges to sign up.

Dylan slowly began walking towards his "group" which currently was some guy with a in a park rangers outfit and. . . Hey is that William? It is William! Dylan thanked Arceus for him being there at least that would make this tour a bit more fun, and possibly a bit more competitive. Anyway Dylan quickly greeted the two with a "Hello." and listened to the Rangers instructions. "Stick close and don't get lost. . . Pretty simple." He muttered to himself, but he couldn't help to wonder why he shouldn't get lost, was it possible treasure could be in these caves? A man can hope can't he?
But what was more interesting than treasure, was Pokémon, money can only buy so much in the world. Pokémon in this cave, could be living rocks, or obnoxious bats Dylan didn't mind he wanted them the most. Hopefully the Ranger wouldn't mind a bit of battling and capturing right? Oh well looks like he is going have to find out for himself. Dylan glanced around at his surroundings, it looked like it was going to be a fun day in the cave.
this group seem like very friendly people. however not everyone has showed up. no worries, they could catch up later. terry gestures for the group to move on.
the cave is cool and dank. they stop at the split path. both look equally daring, dim lights lining the sides of the cave. but the right is labelled 'B' while the left is labelled 'S'. terry has no idea what that means. he turns towards the people for a group vote.
How ironic, the two High school drop outs that had set out on this adventure together were going to be exploring this cave together, with their tour guide Terry the ranger. Though Dylan made no comments about it, he was elated that only William was here, that meant less competition for wild Pokémon, though there was no doubt in Dylan's mind William was thinking the same. The only competition they had were each other, and that was enough to fill the atmosphere with the smell of friendship, determination, and hope. The trio slowly departed inside the cave.
The deeper they got inside the cave the cooler the temperature became, and the more the humidity rose. Not good for Dylan's hair, but he didn't mind it that was the least of his troubles, but the cold, the cold was a problem for Dylan for he absolutely hated the cold. He already started to shiver from it and tensed up. "Damn it, I wish I had Slugma out here." He muttered to himself, debating if he should let out the Lava Pokémon, it'd provide warmth and light. Suddenly the group of three stopped, in front of them was a fork in the road. The right path is labelled 'B' while the left path is labelled 'S', both path ways seemed equally lit. "If you asked me I would rather go down path 'B', but I have no problem going down path 'S'. They both seem pretty dark though, I could use my Slugma to brighten up the way if you'd like Terry."
"a slugma would be lovely!" so the two of them chose to go to the left. terry had no problems with it. he led them into the pathway and into a much darker cave. he could really use that slugma right about now.
then there was something moving in the distance. it shook the ground as it walked. terry took out his stylus and pointed it at the direction. "prepare yourself," he said.

THE GROUP ENCOUNTERS A graveler! defeat the graveler!
"Prepare yourself." Terry said to the two teenagers in a serious tone.
"What?" Dylan muttered quickly grabbing onto one of the Pokéballs attached to his belt. Slowly from out of the shadows something was coming, with each step it took it shook the cave they stood in. Just waiting for it to appear made Dylan a bit anxious, what terrible Pokémon was coming their way? Would they be able to defeat it? Or will this be the end of their journey? Finally the Pokémon emerged from the shadows it stood there staring each of them down. Dylan took his chance to scan it with his Pokédex, waiting for it to give him some info on it.
"Graveler, The Rock Pokémon, Graveler grows by feeding on rocks. Apparently, it prefers to eat rocks that are covered in moss. This Pokémon eats its way through a ton of rocks on a daily basis. This Pokémon will climb a mountain from the base to the summit, crunchingly feasting on rocks all the while. Upon reaching the peak, it rolls back down to the bottom." The Pokédex informed Dylan.
"Some great info that is." Dylan muttered sarcastically, suddenly William grabbed his shoulder, looking quite paranoid. "Dylan what the fuck are we going to do? It's an evolved Pokemon, and all my Pokemon got are normal moves. We're fucked!" He shouted, right into Dylan's ear, to which Dylan had slapped him for. "Get a hold of yourself Will, we didn't come to Hoenn to be smashed by a rock." He said trying to knock some sense into his friend. He then turned to Terry. "Hopefully that stylus can help us, We'll try to weaken it, you do what you can."
Dylan then grabbed onto Gastly's Pokeball, launching it forward letting the Gas Pokémon out. "Gaaastly. . ." She moaned quietly as she emerged from the capsule. "Gastly! Quick use Hypnosis twice!" He commanded and Gastly did sending to hypnotic waves at the Graveler. "William, you do something too!"
"nice work!" the two hypnosis attack worked like a charm. the graveler fell to sleep and took the two pound attacks from timburr. it didn't hurt him enough to wake him up. so graveler remained sleeping.

Dylan now had two options, fight strategically or beat the shit out of the Graveler. He decided to both in a step process, first he was going to lower it's defense and keep it asleep, then together the barrage of attacks from William's Pokémon and his Pokémon would be enough to take it down. He saw William had his Timburr use Leer twice, perfect, Dylan was going to follow up with two more, but this meant returning Gastly which might a bit risky, but it had to be done. Dylan unlatched his Gastly's Pokeball, quick returning the Gas Pokémon.
Afterward he'd released Nidoran quietly, Nidoran looked around at first wondering why it was called out, but then saw the Graveler, quickly growing angry at the sight of another male due to it's ability. "Nidoran, use Leer twice. . ." He commanded in soft voice, His Nidoran nodded in response than turned back to the Graveler, with the most demonic look it could muster up, which was mostly crimson red eyes, with a frown. Nevertheless it hopefully worked and the defense of Graveler went down even more as it remained asleep.

The boy cursed to himself as he sprinted down Route 104. Axel had barely gotten himself together. His hair was still rather messy, but at least he looked half way presentable. The reason he was sprinting down the route was because he had signed up for a exploration group. And of course, Axel had to get in on that action. He was assigned a Pokemon Ranger and a group, and so far things weren't going so well for him. He had over slept, and then didn't realize that the exploration had started at least a half an hour ago. So Axel scrambled to get himself together, grab all his belongings and make a break for it to try and catch up to the group.
Axel didn't even bother to stop and admire the scenery. Once he knew where his group was, he bolted. Although, the new Trainer didn't stop to think that maybe he should have stopped and trained back on route 103 instead. His Pokemon were decently trained, but he could have spent some more time there. Oh well, more of a challenge for him, right?
It wasn't long until he heard the sounds of battle up ahead. Axel slowed down his pace, breathing heavily from all the running he had done. Once the boy caught his breath, he jogged up to the group and stopped a few feet behind.
The scene was a little weird. A Ranger and two other guys were battling what seemed to be a sleeping rock. Deciding that it was best to keep the sleeping rock asleep, Axel quietly walked up near the Ranger and gave a sheepish wave to the other two guys. In the quietest voice he could muster, Axel glanced between the three people and asked: "Hey, sorry I'm late. Overslept. Er, what'd I miss? Or rather, what's going on?"
Dylan was quite pleased with how the battle was going so far, Only a few more Leers and a super effective move or two and we're definitely taking that Graveler down. He turned to Terry wondering why he hadn't done anything at all to help the duo, but he didn't care at this point, all that mattered was that they weren't gonna be smashed by a Rock-type today. "Alright. . . Just a little bit more and we're home free." Dylan whispered to himself.
He then turned to some newcomer who was standing next to Terry. "Hey, you." He whispered and looked back at the Graveler. "Got anything to help take this obese pebble down?" Dylan added still whispering and glancing back and forth from Graveler to Axel.
[attr="class","axscroll"]If it wasn't for the fact there was a giant rock sleeping right there, Axel would have felt like they weren't trying to wake a baby. A Graverler wasn't exactly a baby. The Pokemon definitely seemed stronger than any of his Pokemmon. But, as William asked about whether or not Axel had any grass Pokemon, the Trainer stared for a moment before smirking. It was about time Holly became useful.
"Well it's a good thing I came the time I did then." Axel said quietly, picking off one Pokeball and turning around to release his Chespin. The Grass type was released behind the group and shook her body, waking herself up from a long deserved nap. Holly yawned and turned around to Axel, looking at the scene in front of her and blinking. It was too early for this shit, why was she called out now? A scowl appeared on her face as she huffed, stepping forward in front of Axel. The Trainer rolled his eyes and turned back to the group, giving a thumbs up. "Just give me the signal and Holly will attack. Right, Holly?" Axel whispered, stressing the Chespin's name. Although the two were on relatively good terms, they still had their moments.
"After William's Pokémon leers at it twice more, You and me will try to take it down with moves that should a lot of damage to it." Dylan whispered to Axel, he looked at his Nidoran who was getting increasingly angry by the moment due to it's ability Rivalry, which would boost it's attack when fighting another male Pokémon. Dylan was confident now, extremely confident, He believed the plan would work perfectly it all depended on the Graveler sleeping one more turn.
"After this Graveler we should be in the clear." Dylan thought, it would put his mind at peace thinking of victory. "We got this in the bag." He muttered quietly and prepared to shout orders whenever William was ready to go.
[attr="class","axscroll"]Axel had to admit, it sounded like these two Trainers knew what they were doing. And while Axel wanted to say he knew what he was doing... he really didn't. Sure, he was learning types and their weaknesses, and Pokemon names, but he was still a little clueless when it came to battling. All Axel really did in battles was call out attacks, nothing advanced so far. But he was still a 'newbie' perse, maybe he shouldn't be complaining.
He listened to William's suggestion and what the other guy had in plan. Nodding in agreement, he looked down at Holly and bent down to her level. "Alright, before you go all out on that thing, use Growl real quietly, alright?" Axel said. This was the best he could have Holly do at this point. He definitely didn't wanna risk waking it up with a full attack, so using a move like Growl would be perfect. Lowering stats were the way to go, or at least that's what Axel learned.
The Chespin obeyed and turned to face the Graverler. In the quietest (and quite possibly the cutest way) possible, Holly barely let out a noise. The cutesy growl was hopefully heard, even in the Graverler's sleep. Lowering it's attack would help them in the long run, or at least Axel thought it would.
terry couldn't stand watching them torment the graveler any longer. his job as a ranger was to protect pokemon. he waved them off and went up to the sleeping graveler. he pulled out a pokeball and captured it. he turned to look at the group. "right, let's move on."
the group encounters a wall. terry reads, "i swear i'll kill them, every single one of them, with a swift tail jab. who am i?"

Wow, that was anticlimactic, if Terry the ranger could of caught the god damn Graveler in the first place why didn't he?!Just saying "right, let's move on." as he did so as well. Dylan just shrugged it off, he could careless about the damn thing, out of sight, out of mind ya know? He simply returned his Nidoran who gained a level along with his Gastly. "Nice, Nice. . ." Dylan simply muttered to himself, but he remembered what the Ranger said earlier about Slugma sending it out to provide warmth and light for the entire group.
Together the group of now four went along further inside the cave, making no conversation with each other until they encounter a wall. Terry reads, "i swear i'll kill them, every single one of them, with a swift tail jab. who am i?" and then turns to the group expecting an answer. "Ooh a riddle, I love a good riddle." Dylan muttered quietly and then thought for a moment. What was a Pokémon with a tail? Ninetails was one, he heard a rumor it could curse people with it's tail, but a curse didn't mean kill. There was Minccinno, that evolved into Cinccino which had many tails as well. Dylan debated the two he could think of currently and just went with the logical one. "I believe the answer is Cinccino."
