[attr="class","sv3"] This is a candied world, and it spreads like fire. When it devours me I call the burning 'fun', but I never really was the purist one. Though I try to cleanse my soul with every sun. And I just get deeper in the same shit but doesn't everyone? Close my eyes and play along.
It's not as massive nor as threatening or even imposing as he thought it'd be. In fact he feels it's quite the opposite as he stand before the structure, any thoughts of rescinding his challenge lost to the wind. The sun wasn't exactly high yet, still early in the morning thoughts of two days ago still weigh heavy on his person. He's made point to stay away from the woman he's been beguiled by if she saw him like this...well she wouldn't see him like this. A certain offer from a dubious man from the past also weighs on him heavier than it should, his business card truly burning a hole in his pocket. This journey has been more trouble than it's worth, but still despite all of this he still finds himself enjoying it, if for nothing else than the pokemon beside him. He can feel the small orbs rattle and shake with anticipation. They know a big fight is coming up their first. Even his first, the pokemon whose been more fearful of the trainer recently shivers with a strange sense of excitement. One he can relate to.
Nervousness and anticipation become one in times like this, only now when two wills are about to collide can one feel like this. Fighting was something he was akin to. He was raised in a world where his fists spoke louder than words ever could. Fighting is one of the many things ingrained in him, it comes naturally. Despite this it's he can't bring himself to be proud of his past. Thankful, but never proud. He inhales red eyes focused on the doors before him. He makes his move hands tucked in pockets. He tries to hard to look casual, and so instead he looks more disheveled than anything else.
The doors slide open and he wastes no time, "I'm here for a gym battle!" His voice echoes through the room, eyes scouring for a face or two.
norman walks out into the gym. someone has entered. he's excited to see the prospective trainers earn their first badges. they are always either cocky, scared to death, or somewhere in between. sometimes both.
he grins at the person across the stage. "alright, welcome challenger." he throws out a pokeball. sentret rises from it's place, ready for a battle.

"Preciate it boss."
No long speech, or prolonged conversation in fact even the gym leader himself looks like a normal guy, perhaps a bit more determined, but still normal nonetheless. his grin grows sharper seeing as the man had chosen to use normal type pokemon. He slides a pokeball from his pocket his grip on the sphere tighter than it usually was, no longer in fear, but now pure anticipation. The pokeball flies hitting the stage releasing a certain mantis pokemon always ready for a fight. His team knew the stakes now the three he'd chosen to use for the fight prior were ready, Larvesta had yet to come out of her pokeball since the incident. He wouldn't linger on his starter right now, he didn't have that luxury.
"Sorry friend, but I always play to win."
Yellow eyes analyze the normal type pokemon threateningly. "Bullet Punch twice over don't give it room to breathe!" The steel type approves of the plan dashing in it's pincers harden even further as it blasts himself across the field, analyzing aiming directly where to hit the small normal type. After all it's a technician at heart. Miles glances up at the gym leader for a moment wondering what he's thinking right now. Hopefully this all out offensive wouldn't damn him in the long run.

sentret is nearly taken out by the scizor. she flips over on the ground, landing in a heap by her feet. "you can do it. try a quick attack." he encourages. there's a big type disadvantage between her and the pokemon, but she goes anyways, leaving a trail of white behind her.

The first round is almost over instantly the bladed pokemon having connected heavily with the Sentret the two punches almost knocking it out entirely. He almost feels bad for his opponent, but this was a gym battle and he'd be damned if he let up. He'd be sure to keep the pressure on the entire battle. The gym leader calls his next attack, Miles wastes no time matching the opposing trainer. "Match it with you're own quick attack and finish with another bullet punch." The Sentret connects with the steel pokemon causing it to wince if only slightly before preparing his own attack. Hopefully the first round would end with this exchange.
He feels oddly level the pressure is still here, but no longer is he drowning in it. He's confident he'll be able to pull through this and get a badge. After all in his first three weeks of training he'd seen a lot. He'd witnessed the birth of a pokemon, and the death of a pokemon. He'd made friends and gotten into fights. His life had changed so much and this... this was only the beginning. As the battle continue he looks on proud of his pokemon.

The first pokemon goes down, both Scizor and the trainer share a look. He knows the red haired trainer is proud of him, after all the two started out pretty roughly, in fact they still weren't perfect, but this was enough for now, this was growth. The second pokemon sent out is a lion cub pokemon, he'd never seen it before, nor did he have time to pull out his pokedex to scan it. When the gym leader calls out his first move it puts the trainer on edge the lion cub spitting out torrents of small flames at the bug type doing severe damage to him. He's not yet fainted, but the hit is significant. "Scizor Return!" He makes the decision to call the bug pokemon back for now the red light returning it to his pokeball a second ball flying out all the while. "Heliolisk You're up!"This time a yellow lizard appears ready to fight eyes focused on the lion type. Seeing as Miles switched out he couldn't attack yet, but he hopes Heliolisk will be able to handle the threat with minimal damage.

the trainer is smart, returning their scizor so that it doesn't suffer from the type disadvantage. he summons a heliolist. it's a looks like a forbidable opponent.
litleo leers at it with it's creepy googly eyes, and after a beat, takes off in a run. he ducks his head in an attempt to tackle it.
litleo♀ - level 010 - keen eye moveset: tackle, leer, ember work up, headbutt

"Store up your energy use charge!" While the Lion pokemon focused its wide eyes lowering the electric types physical defense an electrical aura of sorts formed around the pokemon not only raising its special defense, but preparing itself for another much more powerful electric type attack. The tackle connects and with the leer having done its job the attack does more damage than it normally would, but was the fire pokemon prepared for what would happen next? "Now Thunder!" The Lizard pokemons frills widen using all the stored electric energy adding to the attack a bolt of lightning double it's normal power flies directly at the fire pokemon. All the while he can feel the bladed pokemon's pokeball shake, it seems to want another chance at battling. The pokemon having not had enough yet.
Notes: Heliolisk hit by leer defense is lowered Heliolisk uses charge Electric attacks are boosted sp def up Heliolisk hit by tackle 100% --> 70% Heliolisk uses Thunder boosted by charge (double power!) cilalic
norman's eyes widen in slight surprise as a thunder is called out. the heliolisk's frills expand. electricity flies from it's body towards litleo. the attack is so strong that it defeats litleo in one hit.
"return, litleo. go slakoth!" he switches in the pokemon. the slakoth looks at norman lazily before yawning. and when it gets close, it draws a claw to scratch the pokemon.

Another Pokemon falls the massive burst of lightning knocks the fire pokemon out instantly leaving the Heliolisk extremely proud of its power. Even the leader himself seems surprised by the burst of energy rendering his pokemon unconscious. "Two down..." He mumbles under his breath his grip tightening wondering what the next pokemon would be. It looks stronger than the other two by far, in fact the red hair trainer believes this to be the finale to a play that's to end just as quickly as it began. Heliolisk is more than prepared to continue but the shaking ball in his hand screams to finish the battle himself. Who is the trainer to deny this final bout?
The slakoth starts the next round yawning and scratching at the electric type leaving it more than slightly drowsy. No matter the pokemon is to get a rest anyways. "Heliolisk take a break!"A red light shines through calling the lizard pokemon back and out goes the pokemon from before. An Injured but determined scizor takes center stage now yellow eyes glaring fiercly at the final pokemon. Slakoth still has the advantage, by far seeing as he can't attack just yet. But the blade pokemon doesn't matter it plans to win this fight, all the trainer can do at this point is believe.
Notes: Heliolisk hit by yawn Heliolisk his by scratch 70% ----> 45% Heliolisk is called back Scizor is called out once again 20% cilalic
norman is silent after slakoth's first attack. it's ability kicks in. for a useful pokemon, it's extremely lazy. any orders from the gym leader go unnoticed. he waits. now miles can make his move with scizor.
The steelpokemon eyes the truant solth waiting for it to make it's move, eyes flickering between both the pokemon and the leader, but nothing comes. Was it... Was it pitying him? Something burns inside the pokemon's heart. The Slakoth's dopey face annoying him further. How fucking dare him. Scizor wouldn't be looked on, not by some layabout pokemon, not by anyone. It gives a massive battle cry sounding similar to steel scraping concrete before falling into a battle stance it's pincers snapping wildly showing just how angry he was. If Miles didn't call some kind of technique soon the pokemon would do it itself. The Pokemon isn't the only one off put by the gym leader's inactivity. The trainer also doesn't appreciate being looked down upon either and so he's more than happy to take the lead now. Hoping to end this play in one if not two fail swoops. "Don't let it disrespect you! Bullet punch twice over with everything you have in you!" With a fury he's never even seen before the steel type dashes forward it's pincers closed towering over the sloth before attempting to swing it's metal claws dead into it's side as hard as it could. He would not be underestimated twice that much was absolutely certain.
Miles watches onward the red pokemon had moved almost like a blur faster than he'd ever seen it in previous battles. He wouldn't lie, there was definitely doubt when he called the pokemon back out having already been weakened, but after seeing him in action now he believed in his pokemon entirely to take this match, netting him and his team a badge.
Scizor is confused Scizor is Angry Scizor uses Bullet punch x2 (technician boosted)
norman cocks an eyebrow as the trainer calls out his pokemon. disrespect? he guesses that the laziness comes off as disrespect. he shrugs. it's a common symptom in new trainers. he isn't really surprised.
the scizor is angry though. it lands tough punches. slakoth lands on the ground in front of him, slightly disoriented and moderately injured but otherwise still up for battle. he yawns before turning back to the gym leadaer for direction.
"alright, feint attack." he says. with surprising speed slakoth would lull the enemy into a false sense of security, and when the opportunity strikes, scratches at the scizor with a flash of its claws.

Dodging at this point wasn't an option the Scizor is far to determined to knock the slakoth out now the feint attack connecting easily at this point. The blade pokemon is hanging on by a thread now bruises and dents easily shown on its body. Soon the pokemon's consciousness would fade entirely, but he couldn't stop not yet. The pokemon also finds itself drowsy after the dopey enemy yawns itself. No matter the pokemon has one job at this point a really simple job just keep swinging. Miles knows now is as good as a time as ever to call out the next techniques. "Vacuum Wave! Twice over you're almost there!" Red eyes watch the battle closely wondering if the fighting type attack would finally put the sloth over the edge, this was by far the gym leader's most resilient pokemon, then again Scizor had yet to fall as well. The blade pokemon's claws begin to glow with an eerie blue light wind surrounding each of it's pincer surrounding itself with a torrent of wind. The Scizor attempts to strike the normal type this attack hoping to blow the sloth pokemon back into its trainer, before falling on a knee not quite ready to give up.
