[attr="class","abar"] She did not expect the ranger school to change her life from the usual 10:00 am groggy mornings to being bright and early up at six, but here was, in a tank top and jeans with her hair combed to strand precision. It was strange how easy it was once you got into the swing of it, and Freyja was pretty much ready to start her first day. Not happy, no, far from it, but her jog had lightened up her mood, even though she was now officially already sweating when the day hadn't really begun yet.
She was stretching down and to the left and then to right, hards and feet moving at the rhythm of a trained athelete. She liked this rhythm, the rhythm of early morning life and the dullest rays of sunrise. She hand finished her tenth toe-touch when she saw the man approach, and she immediately stretched up to her tallest, and flipped her hair behind her ears.
Such military exercising should have warranted a military salute, instead, what Cedric received was a yawn and a lazy stretch of her hands behind her back.
"Eyy, so you're like, that dude, right. Partner or something." She looked at him boredly, not really expecting much. The rangers she met were generally boring, and the male before her was nothing special.
"Gotta one of those handy names on ya?"

training wasn't really training for ceddy. he enjoyed running and exercising, but not when he was forced to. so to rebel against the code of conduct all he did was wake up and jog around the whole time. it drove the higher ups mad but in the end they gave up. just as long as he showed up then he's good to go.
he did however saw someone interesting. a new partner he was assigned to. well, not exactly a partner. only for a few missions. he already had a partner. regardless he walked over to her, keen on making small talk or whatever.
when he approached her she suddenly stopped what she was doing and stretched up. ceddy noticed her body alright. but he kept his mouth shut. normally they'd salute but he was glad she decided not to. salutes were dumb.
"nice. fuck the system, right?" he laughed. but jokes aside he gave her a friendly wave as he introduced himself. "cedric. and we're not exactly partners. just temporarily."

[attr="class","abar"] She hadn't been execting such an upfront response to her lack of salute, if anything, she had been expecting to get reprimanded for it. THe guy hardly looked older than her, so maybe it would have been lessened to a stern remark or something. But to be saluted with words for not saluting with hands felt great, and Freyja couldn't react to it all that well. She managed a quick smirk.
"Yeah, I'm Freyja. Call me Frey or whatever." She nodded, as though agreeing with what he had said, before suddenly sensing the implications. "Fuck, chances of me getting a dude who doesn't salute once is...okay, but twice." She twitched her lips, and gave an exasperated sigh. "I'm screwed."
She laughed along with him, and waved right back. "Odale?" she asked, a little like she was verifying what they were supposed to do, but a lot like an awkward little otter without much in her vocabulary. She scratched the side ofher neck boyishly, and looked in the general direction of the next town.
"i'd offer you a handshake but those are lame too," he said. freyja was a nice name, though. it sounded foreign, but who knows. hoenn was a strange place. "nice name," he commented. he kept other thoughts he had to himself for now.
he laughed at her comment. "yeah you are, unfortunately," he replied. he's not met many rangers who don't salute each other. most of them were young and ready to impress. or ready to kiss ass until they get to the top. cedric wasn't like that. kissing ass wasn't his way of getting to the top. he'd let his work do that, even though he doesn't do much.
"oldale?" he repeated. he pondered on it for a bit. he might have forgotten to read the mission file. he stared in the direction she was looking at. "i-uh, forgot to read the mission," he confessed. he wrapped himself in his ranger coat and started walking towards it anyways.

[attr="class","abar"] "You know it," she said, grinning. The guy was easy to get along with, more so than the people she had met in the academy. Of course there were a lot of people like her, forced to go there by their parents or with no real passion, but she felt like she could relate with Cedric more. He was the first person who understood that handshakes were lame, and that was a brilliant start.
The compliment made her feel awkward- she wasn't really sure what to do when you recieved one of those. She remembered to be honest, and so she found herself saying, "Thanks. Cedric sounds like a spice or something." She wasn't sure if that was a good thing or not.
Her thoughts idly go to who could be her real partner, and without knowing it she's thinking of the same things as Cedric is- she can only hope she's not paired with a goody goody looking to kiss ass and be petting by all the seniors. Although her thoughts of course are not as ambitious as Cedric's; she's just looking for a way to live without all the hassling of having to do ranger crap, but also while kicking criminal butt. It was complicated.
She gave him an incredulous look when he said he'd forgot to read the mission, but laughed instead of reprimanded him. "Huh?" was all she could manage to get out when Cedric began walking away, almost professionally ordering her to brief him on the mission. She couldn't hide the annoyance on her face and she began walking to keep up with him, but to be honest she couldn't hide much if she tried.
"Aight, so basically, there's some people at Odale. We gotta arrest them or something. One'f aqua or magma."
She paused, wondering what else there was to it. She didn't honestly remember, but it could have easily involved something else. Stolen jewelry? They had to return it somewhere, no doubt. But she did feel like opening up the page on her stylus just for his highness Ceddy.
"Hell if I know, check yourself," she huffed, tightening the scarf a bit on her neck.
freyja seemed like a cool person. very laid back, probably not one to blindly follow orders as well. very similar to him, he thought. they'd get along pretty well. he might even prefer her over his usual partner, briley. but that's too soon to say.
he ignored her returned compliment. he assumed she just didn't know what to say when she received a compliment, just like most girls he knew.
apparently she didn't take well to him telling her what to do. her briefing was short and simple, and while normally he'd like that, he just didn't understand the mission yet. ironic, since he usually doesn't care.
"that's a nice scarf," he commented. he stopped walking and turned to look at her. he revealed his hands from his jacket and grinned at her, reaching out to touch her scarf. "a gift?" he asked.
he shook his heads afterwards. he doesn't care about the scarf too.
"look. i normally wouldn't give a shit about missions. but i want to get this one done fast so i can get going, yeah? so brief me properly, cadet."
he wasn't one to pull rank, he was a cadet too. he waited for her response, staring at her with a rather annoyed look.

[attr="class","abar"] Freyja decided they'd get along as well, but him going back to the scarf and compliments flustered her even more. A lot of people seemed to notice her blatantly red scarf that she threw on with literally everything. She remembered well the simple story behind it, but everyone somehow assumed it was a gift from a past lover or a long lost sister or some bullshit.
"Yeah, I know," was her clumsy response to the compliment. "No, I bought it." What she said was undeniably the truth (Freyja could hardly be considered crafty enough to form a lie), and yet it somehow amused her to make his prediction false. "Expecting some cutesy story?" she asked, smiling.
Her smile dropped at the annoying order, and she rolled her eyes, a favored gesture for her whole family. "Why, need help operating your stylus?" She asked, not the slightest intimidated by his antics- she doubted he was much higher than a Cadet, although the way he held himself was definitely that of a superior.
She flipped open her own gadget on, using the little thing as a distraction. "Mmm. Odale, Parker Street. Goon wearing a bandana, on the run. Expected to come out on the route we're on. Un-steal the purse he's got on him."
She mumbled out the formal words in her won twisted language and then looked back up at Cedric, unimpressed. "Didn't you learn how to read?" She asks, walking faster to get ahead of him, childishly wanting to get there faster.
cedric was slightly amused when she fell for his tricks, happily answering the question about her scarf. truth was he didn't care about the scarf. he just needed a reason to get closer to her so he could blurt out orders to her face to face. and the scarf was a way to do it.
he also couldn't help but smile when she rolled her eyes. something about that just seemed cute to him. she doesn't seem intimidated by him pulling rank as well. so that was something new. huh, maybe she wasn't so bad after all.
he roughly understood what she said. he let out an audible 'hmm' as he thought about the mission. doesn't seem too hard. but before he could even say anything she started walking off towards oldale, speeding up faster than he was. to that he could only shake his head and chuckle. she truly was different.
"race you there."
he jogged after her, whispering that to her as he passed her. and once he did he sped up into a fast pace jog, heading straight towards oldale.

[attr="class","abar"] She was pretty pissed off with Cedric, the weird spice-like name that it was, and of course with the rest of him. He was cocky, and that was always fun, but pulling rank when he had made it clear he could give a rattata's ass about the rules? Eye roll worthy. And the little smirk at her pouting left her with an even greater burst of rage, forcing her eyes to narrow and cheeks to flare.
She walked ahead of him mostly because she was annoyed, not caring to hear the little hmm of understanding he let out. She felt a little breeze rush by as he passed, and immediately her nerves were poked when he jogged passed her. She was annoyed, but glad he was back to the laid back version of himself, and so she gave an easy smile as she, too, started jogging towards Odale.
Freyja running was a pretty strange sight- she was taller and bulkier than most women, something of both a natural and practiced masculinity that came from both birth and training. Her running wasn't elegant, nor was it meant to make her look like a cool and thin super model dashing around streets. It was direct and at times awkward, and their little race was probably even more so. She brushed past him, red scarf flapping in the wind to flash and signal her presence like a flag.
She stuck her tongue out at Cedric as she passed, but judging from his pace they were evenly matched and he might catch up soon. She was still determined to win, though.
turns out she was as fast as him, maybe even faster. she soon passed him and stuck a tongue out as she passed. he shook his head and chuckled, quickening his pace to try and catch up to her. he tailed her for a while, running behind her to pick up speed. and he stayed there until oldale came to sight.
and finally he took the opportunity and shifted his weight, side stepping next to her and sprinting off. he was just about to get to the end of the route before tripping on something on the floor. a real cliche, even he can't believe that happened to him. and then she passed him.
oh, he'll never hear the end of this. he jogged to a halt and panted a bit. he hasn't run like this in a while. or at least he hasn't been challenged like this.
cedric clapped his hands sarcastically at her for beating him. he pouted and looked at her.

[attr="class","abar"] She ran happily, glad for the exercise. She was of course a little tired from her morning jog and all, but there was almost no time when Freyja couldn't give her one hundred percent, as long as, of course, she was motivated. And a slight little grudge was more than enough to motivate her, and she ran easily ahead of Cedric. She was disappointed with him being behind her most of the time, not clever enough to think he might be holding back to jump at her at the last moment.
When he did, Freyja's eyes widened at him passing her, and she grunted, trying to get on level with him. They ran together for a while before she was suddenly ahead of him. A quick glasnce back and it turned out he had tripped. Psht, what a girl. She stopped running only when she hit Odale, turning back the instant she heard Cedric's mock clapping.
"Yeah, right." She said, fixing the strands of hair that clung to her face and had found their way to her mouth. Sometimes she felt like she couldn't deal with what little hair she had. She was panting and huffing, not having caught her breath as long as Cedric had. "What kind of girly trip was that, anyway." She snorted, the gesture blowing away the remaining strands that her hands did not catch. She had her hands on her hips, as if to steady her breathing.
Even though she seemed like she wasn't fully happy, she reached out a hand to Cedric.
"Aight, fuck your excuses, lets go catch that criminal."
cedric was a sore loser, no doubt about it. he wasn't used to losing, especially not when it came to physical activities like running. so when she started gloating about her win it made him a bit annoyed. but whatever, guys always let the girls win, right?
"it wasn't a trip. i let you win," he replied. he sighed and stretched his arms upwards. might as well accept the sour taste of defeat and move on.
when she put up her fist in the air he was confused for a second. but then he extended out his hands and wrapped it around her fist.
"paper beats rock. now let's go."
the two walked towards parker street. just before they even reached it a man dressed in common street clothes came running around the corner. he wore a bandana and had a purse on him as well.
"loser buys dinner?" he offered. the man saw them and immediately went the other direction. whoever caught him first was going to be treated, he thought.

[attr="class","abar"] "What!" she shouted, unintelligibly, the annoyance written clearly on her face. "You're the one being sour about it. Now you're saying you let me win?" She snorted, unable to believe how childish he was acting. Then again, so was she. That thought brough her some peace of mind, and she allowed a simple smile to play on her lips as she anticipated his fist colliding with hers. The one gesture that made her feel better about most things.
Atleast until he grabbed it. With his hand. And shook it.
Paper beats rock?
She stared at him like he was an alien sprouting three heads, wings and fifteen tails for a full minute, unable to comprehend how he had managed to...paper beats rock?! He passed her easily, Freyja not even having seen the man in the distance as she looked forward, still in a daze.
"You just-- did you--how..." She couldn't believe it, no, she couldn't wrap her head around it.
"You're joking, right!?" she asked, looking at him with a hopeful expression on her face. Something told her he was really incompetent, though, and the fear only built up inside her.
"Huh. Okay, then, let's dance, oi. You. Criminal bastard. With the purse." She pointed at the guy, menacing finger looking down on him. He ran. She made a disgusted click with her tongue and followed after, tossing out her cyndaquil as she went. Tango ran beside her, ready for a confrontation.
As she ran, side by side with Cedric, she looked sideways at him. "You do know what a brofist is? Right?"
apparently she was still hung up on the fist bump deal. he understood the concept of it pretty well; he's done it before to other people. but he just wanted to see how she would react to his strangeness. not so well, apparently.
once the guy took off he too started running after him. she sent out her cyndaquil that ran alongside her. he didn't bother bringing ponyta out, he could do the job on his own.
"what? dude, gross," he replied. a little smirk came across his lips. he of course knew what it was but he kept playing her like he didn't.
the criminal wasn't too far away now. so cedric sped up, maneuvering around obstacles not wanting to break them. and when he finally was close enough he reached into his bag for a pokeball and tossed it at the burglar. out came his sandile who immediately tried to bite the burglar's leg. which he did, the burglar tripped and came to a halt.
cedric stopped beside him and recalled the sandile. "you're under arrest, buddy." he said. he lowered himself to one knee and looked up at freyja while attempting to cuff him.
Post by Freyja Sigfried on Jul 19, 2015 10:14:42 GMT
[attr="class","abar"] "Dude!" she shouted after him, but Cedric sped away, kicking around obstacles and only making it harder for her to cross them- it was like a three way chase between two rangers and a petty thief. Freyja caled after him, though, determined to get to the bottom of this. "You can't say dude without knowing what I'm talking about!" She wanted to tearing something a part right now. No man deserved to be left alive without knowing...
Tch-- she ducked to the right, abandoning the trail to Cedric while she took a different route. Being born and bred in Hoenn and having traveled over it again and again had its advantages. Although it turned out the route she took was the long cut to where the criminal was headed, and she arrived at the other end to the alley where Cedric already had him on the floor.
"Don't tell me this one tripped as well," she scoffed. "Men are too girly these days."
She then raised an eyebrow at Cedric, having reasonably calmed down but not quite that much yet. "Yeah, right! How am I supposed to treat someone that doesn't---know--" She sighed, letting herself be interrupted by the click of the handcuff around the criminal's wrists. But then again, why was Cedric smirking like an idiot if he had no idea what she was saying?
After the arrest was done, she looked down at Cedric, standing with one hand on her hip, scarf gently blowing beside her, and her Cyndaquil panting at the run. She returned her pokemon and then quickly squatted down next to Cedric, grabbing his free hand.
She pulled it outwards, closed the fingers into a fist, and then proceeded to punch the fist with her own. Hard. Hard enough to pop a knuckle.
