Unfortunately, there wasn't always a lot to do whenever Sylvester hit town. Walking through Rustboro City, it sank in just how bored he was. Making his way towards the park, where many coordinators worked with their pokemon, he was saddened to realize nobody was there. "Huh...that's weird."
Glancing around, Sylvester decided to sit down at one of the park benches. Retrieving the pokedex from his coat pocket, he searched through the many files, simply reading things just to pass the time. 'I hope someone comes along here soon...I don't want to be bored all day.' First world problems were the absolute worst.

[attr="class","mv1"]leaving petalburg city behind had made evan very happy. they had been stuck there for a few weeks, longer than how long he had wanted to stay. it wasn't like petalburg was a bad city. it's just that they had come to explore the region and being stuck in one place for a long period of time ruined the point of traveling. so when they finally decided to move on, evan was packed up and ready to go.
rustboro wasn't too bad of a place. evan remembered briefly that miles said he was here and he wondered if the male had decided to stop in the city for awhile. from what he gathered, everyone he had met was going in the same direction and traveling to each town. he hated to admit it but most of the people he had met had probably moved on past rustboro.
evan sighed as he soon found himself in the park looking out at the sky. his swablu was flying overhead and lightly singing a song. it was a nice day out and the first time in awhile they had enjoyed exploring a new city. it was then the swablu suddenly took a dive forward and landed in front of a man sitting on a bench nearby. the flying type hopped forward and questioningly looked up at him. "hey please don't sit on his head!" evan called out and ran forward before the swablu could take to the air. "sorry about that man. she likes to come and bother people."

"Huh...?" Noticing a pokemon landing at his feet, it wasn't long before he was made aware as to why this had been. A red-haired male came rushing towards Sylvester and the pokemon in a hurry, trying to prevent the pokemon from sitting on Sylvester's head. "Oh, so it's your's." Yet again, Sylvester almost thought he was blessed with a random wild pokemon that wanted to become a part of his team. Almost...
"No problem. I've never seen a pokemon like that before, she's interesting." Hoping the male would stick around for a little conversation, Sylvester shifted in his seat towards their direction. "What's your name? I go by Sylvester. Sylvester Blackburne." Hoping that the guy would be kind enough to answer, he simply gazed his way, eyes shifting between him and the pokemon.
[attr="class","nv3"] but i look at you. i look at you, and god, constellations are bursting, fires are dying, silence is deafening, the whole damn world is terrifying - - - – – and im falling, god, i’m falling.
[attr="class","mv1"]evan watched that the guy seemed confused at the sudden appearance of the swablu landing in front of him. he was tempted to just recall the flying type into her pokeball but he knew she liked to be out in the open and flying around. while she had gotten better at not landing on stranger's heads, she still had a habit of flying over and surprising people when they least expect it.
he listened as the male waved off his concern and introduced himself. "evan reis, nice to meet you." he gave a small wave and a smile in greeting. it had been awhile since he had run into anyone new and he was never opposed to making small talk with people. "and this swablu here is snow. she always likes to meet new people which is why she flew over." the swablu in question hopped toward the male once again and flew up to sit on the bench next to sylvester. "what brings you to rustboro?" evan wondered if the male was a trainer and was here to challenge the gym. "we just arrived and we're still exploring the area to see what's here." so far he had not really run into anything too exciting in the city. the only thing he saw were really tall buildings and a gym that he could challenge.
Post by Sylvester Blackburne on Jul 11, 2015 21:31:48 GMT
Good, he was going to give Sylvester the small talk he had been looking for. "Likewise." Of course, he might just have been happier that the Swablu was not Evan's, and that the Swablu was wild. After giving it a quick scan with his pokedex, Sylvester swiftly realized the potential of that one pokemon alone. "Thanks for coming over to see me, Snow." He said as a playful jape. If it wasn't for his pokemon, this little encounter may not have taken place. Though now he had to answer the given question.
"Well, mostly just finding out where I'll need to go when I desire to challenge the gyms. I'm a trainer myself." Sylvester went on further to explain more about himself. "I haven't challenged any of them yet, but I think that will change here soon." At least, Sylvester had been hoping so. There were many other places to be, and other gym leaders to get his badges from. He wanted to be able to say something other than that he was an aspiring pokemon champion, or some small-fry who wanted to take down teams aqua and magma.
[attr="class","nv3"] but i look at you. i look at you, and god, constellations are bursting, fires are dying, silence is deafening, the whole damn world is terrifying - - - – – and im falling, god, i’m falling.
[attr="class","mv1"]the swablu sat still as the other human pulled out a device and began to scan her. she didn't mind the attention she was being given. in fact she thrived in it. when the human thanked her for coming to see him, she gave a soft coo and ruffled her feathers once more to show that it was no trouble at all. she was a spoiled one that's for sure.
evan listened as sylvester showed interest in challenging the gym here in rustboro. he had yet to challenge any of of the gyms here in hoenn and he was unsure if he would. it all went back to childhood memories of him and noah challenging the first gym in johto and it ending in disaster. however that had been years ago and he was sure that it could be an option soon. "i haven't challenged any either. i thought about it but i felt i wasn't strong enough yet you know?" if he also ignored his childhood drama too. "planning on becoming the champion or something?" he was always curious to hear other trainers' goals and why they set out on their journey.
Post by Sylvester Blackburne on Jul 13, 2015 7:09:11 GMT
"It would certainly help me with my alternate goals, but I don't know if I could handle all the publicity." Honestly, when he was a kid, Sylvester would have said yes. But now that he had matured? The idea was both very difficult and taxing, though admittedly worth striving for. 'Who will know until I try?' That was his current logic for the matter of becoming champion of Hoenn.
"I think the eight badges alone would be great enough of an achievement, don't you agree?" A slightly more humble perspective, though potentially just as difficult. The challenge of the eight gyms were what said a trainer was ready for the elite four. Ready, yes, but for what? 'Probably ready to not die in just one hit.' Their pokemon were said to be the strongest around, and even now there weren't many trainers who could take on the gym leaders. "Besides, that's not all I want to do with myself as a pokemon trainer." But as for what, Sylvester would not yet say to him.
[attr="class","nv3"] but i look at you. i look at you, and god, constellations are bursting, fires are dying, silence is deafening, the whole damn world is terrifying - - - – – and im falling, god, i’m falling.
[attr="class","nv4"]---
[attr="class","nv3"] Sylvester Blackburne sorry for the wait and crappy post lol
[attr="class","mv"]
[attr="class","mv1"]evan never had an interest in becoming the champion of any region. even when he was a little kid and traveling around johto to take on his first gym challenge, all he ever wanted to do was travel with his friend and pokemon. it had been brought up on a number of occasions and at one point the thought of being the strongest trainer in the region had appealed to him slightly. but after their little falling out and noah leaving, his goals had died down into simply want to see the sights.
and like sylvester said, being champion also required one to be constantly challenged and have more publicity than he was entirely comfortable with. "i can see what you mean. eight badges would be good enough for me too." it was nice to know that some trainers in the world were more content with getting strong for themselves than for media fame. evan looked over and paused when sylvester mentioned that wasn't his only goal but didn't aks about it. he didn't want to be rude considering he just met the other male. "whatever it is you want to do, i know challenging the gyms will help just about anyone. it's not just the pokemon that are getting stronger when you win." sometimes evan thought he sounded like an old man with the way he talked sometimes. he figured he should change the subject before he bored the other. "where are you from? are you originally from hoenn?"
Post by Sylvester Blackburne on Jul 15, 2015 5:10:14 GMT
Sylvester spared a small smile at Evan's question. "I am from Hoenn, yeah. Grew up in Lilycove City. My family does business all over the region. Kind of a wealthy family." He laughed, however, at the thought of his currently dwindling pokedollars.
"Not the kind of wealth I need right now, though." He made a reluctant smile, the one you made when you knew the situation was bad but could be worse. "How about you?" It wasn't very important to him, but Sylvester tried to give Evan the courtesy he deserved by complying to the small talk about their home left behind. Most everyone became a trainer because they wanted to get away from home. Not that feeling homesick was wrong, or anything. Just that trainers lived for adventure.

[attr="class","nv3"] Sylvester Blackburne HAHA I'M SO SORRY I'M TRASH HERE'S A POST HAHAHA BYE *SOBS*
[attr="class","mv"]
[attr="class","mv1"]evan listened as sylvester explained that he was from lilycove city. he only heard of the city in passing and heard it had a lot of attractions for trainers there. he had wanted to go there immediately but couldn't do to the lack of funds. he knew they would get there eventually if they kept traveling along the routes. evan briefly wondered if sylvester's family owned some of the businesses there considering he said he came from a wealthy family.
at the question of where he was from, evan perked up a little. he did miss johto a lot and he was always for talking about why he was traveling. "i come from johto, olivine city to be exact. i'm traveling with a childhood friend of mine." evan did wonder where noah was at the moment but put the thought aside for later. "we kind of want to see the world and hoenn is one of our stops. it's been pretty nice so far." he would joke again about all the water there was but he felt he was getting a bit repetitive with it. but hoenn wasn't entirely bad so far. he had met interesting people and made friends from just the few cities they stopped at.
"what's lilycove like? i wanted to go there but sadly i lack the funds right now." he asked instead, truly curious what it was like to grow up in hoenn. he had forgot to ask miles before but then again, the other male was from an entirely different part of the region from sylvester.
Post by Sylvester Blackburne on Jul 22, 2015 7:19:52 GMT
"Well, it's right by the sea. Lots of water pokemon can be found near the harbor, if you've got a fishing rod." Of course, Sylester knew that Evan was probably more interested in what the city itself has to over. "I didn't get to go out much, since my family was over-protective when I was young. They forced me to take self-defense classes, and eventually I began to work out just to make them more comfortable with letting me go out on my own." Noticing he was beginning to digress, Sylvester swiftly went back to the topic at hand.
"In the hills there is the region's department store, dubbed 'Lilycove Department Store'. Lots of goods for pokemon trainers can be found there." Not a bad start, though certainly not the most interesting part of Lilycove City. "To the left of the department store is the Lilycove Museum. I wager they study things like the fossils of extinct pokemon. My parents do business with them from time-to-time. Nothing interesting, just providing them with the tools and utensils they'll need to tend to their work." Yes, his parents just loved doing business. Anything they could do to make some extra cash.
"Down the hill in the city's heart you can find the pokemon center, the Lilycove motel, as well as the Contest Hall and their fan club building." Maybe that would prove more interesting to Evan? Though, Sylvester still wasn't done sharing yet.
"We also have the Lilycove Harbor, one of the only two places the S.S. Tidal cruise-liner ever docks, the other being Slateport City." Still not the best part, in Sylvester's mind. "It takes trainers to the Battle Frontier after they've defeated the gyms and elite four of the pokemon league." While Sylvester had only heard about it, he certainly wanted to go and check it out for himself one day.
[attr="class","nv3"] but i look at you. i look at you, and god, constellations are bursting, fires are dying, silence is deafening, the whole damn world is terrifying - - - – – and im falling, god, i’m falling.
[attr="class","nv4"]---
[attr="class","nv3"] Sylvester Blackburne sorry about the wait. life kind of killed my muse for awhile but i think its better now 8))))
[attr="class","mv"]
[attr="class","mv1"]since they were sharing stories, evan decided to take a seat to get more comfortable. he had been walking for awhile before he had met sylvester and he might as well rest since they were talking. evan took a seat on the other side of the bench and listened to sylvester talk about his hometown.
it was just like he had heard, with many different attractions and sights to see for various people. sylvester mentioned that it was by the sea which reminded him of his own home in olivine. "so i can't get into a fight with you and expect to win?" evan lightly joked midway through the other male's explanation of his childhood before quieting down again to listen. he was interesting in the region's department store the most and he was hoping to go there someday to see what they had. and he had never seen a pokemon contest before so that was another reason to head there.
evan thought about what else his town had to offer but there wasn't much. "olivine city wasn't too boring. we did have some of the same things. i lived near the sea too and would spend a lot of time watching boats go by or swimming at the ocean." most of his childhood was spent playing in the ocean and putting sand in noah's hair. "we also had a ferry that showed up in town on certain days of the week to take you to different regions. i've never been on it but i've always wanted to." when they had first started their journey, instead of taking the ferry, they decided to walk around johto first. they never did make it to kanto.
"i think our most notable attraction is the glitter lighthouse. there's this ampharos that sits in there and lights the beacon for the ships at sea. i guess that's pretty cool now that i think about it." he never gave this much thought to his home before. it was strange trying to think and explain the good qualities about his home.
"but lilycove sounds pretty cool. it sucks that you couldn't go out as much as a kid. it sounds like you had a lot to do." he commented after sylvester finished and gave a sympathetic smile. "the museum, the department store, contest halls, and all that... it's way more interesting where i grew up. do you ever want to go back?"
Post by Sylvester Blackburne on Jul 24, 2015 5:33:37 GMT
"Do I want to go back...?" It was almost as if the inquiry did not registe until he said it again, almost as if confused. "I guess...though there is no pokemon gym there. Besides popping in to say hello to my parents, there won't be a whole lot for me to do there, sadly enough." Shifting in his seat, Sylvester's mind began to wonder towards the S.S. Tidal that he had mentioned moments prior.
"I mean, if and when I defeat the entire Hoenn pokemon league? Yeah, I'd probably go back home to let my folks know about all that so they can be proud of me or something. Then I'd head out for the S.S. Tidal, so I could go check out the Battle Frontier. I heard the strongest trainers are waiting out on that island." And in order for Sylvester to truly test himself? He had to go there and battle with these "Frontier Minds", or so they were called in the rumors that spread throughout Lilycove City.
[attr="class","nv3"] but i look at you. i look at you, and god, constellations are bursting, fires are dying, silence is deafening, the whole damn world is terrifying - - - – – and im falling, god, i’m falling.
[attr="class","nv4"]---
[attr="class","nv3"] Sylvester Blackburne i need to stop playing my game and postttttttt
[attr="class","mv"]
[attr="class","mv1"]evan thought about his own home and wondered if he would return there one day. he never thought about it. there was so much to explore in the world that he wasn't sure if he would return home to settle down afterwards. he may make his new home in another region or continue to wander around for the rest of his life. there were too many options for him and he was too young to worry about where he was going to end up in the future. he never did find a goal to shoot for. "i hope you can make it there one day." it was the truth. sylvester seemed to have a good head on his shoulder's and he sounded confident enough to take on the pokemon league. while he knew next to nothing about the other's pokemon, he had a feeling they might have been strong too. "but i understand about going home. after my journey and seeing and experiencing all these things, it will feel strange to just head back and stop traveling you know?" like sylvester had said about lilycove, there wasn't much to do back in olivine city either.
he shifted on the bench and picked up the swablu who had been resting silently on the bench next to him. "the battle frontier sounds interesting. i'm sure once you take on the gyms, your pokemon will get strong enough to take on the trainers there." he didn't know much about the battle frontier or the way it worked but he was only guessing the trainers would be almost as strong as gym leaders to make it there. "try not to get too strong out there or you might end up with the publicity you didn't want in the first place." evan joked as he continued to pet the swablu's fluffy wings to gently wake her up.
Post by Sylvester Blackburne on Jul 26, 2015 1:43:34 GMT
"Thanks." Sylvester wasn't one to be very appreciative on the outside, but in any case he was glad that Evan had hoped he would make it there some day. Though, the sentiment about the unwanted publicity only aroused his defiance towards the news teams, and other forms of media. "Yeah, you're right. Maybe I will just have to have my pokemon break their cameras?" He chuckled lightly at the thought of his Combusken being filmed as he leaped towards the cameraman and busted their lens, among other things.
"In any event, I don't think they will be much of a problem. Who wants to know about a famous guy who doesn't enjoy being, or want to be famous? They'd have no interviews from me to show, that's for sure." This time he neglected to chuckle, instead the corners of his lips tugged back in distaste for all things media. "Besides, I move quickly. I doubt ant of the news teams could keep up with me. I would be too much of a pain for them to bother." He leaned back further into the bench, resting his arms upon the backrest.
"They'd be much better off trying to film other trainers, like this other girl I know. Syndra Mawdrey is her name. She and her pokemon are stronger, but who knows. I've been working hard alongside my pokemon in hopes of beating her some day in a pokemon battle." He shifted around, cracking his neck while trying to get more comfortable. "Maybe if they caught that on film, I wouldn't be so opposed to letting them keep the footage." He smiled at the thought.
