hello calamity! we're nearing the two months mark in a few weeks. how time flies! right now we have two things going on that need your participation. the first is an activity check! it is impotant that you check in so you don't lose your face claim. the second is the otm nomiations! we're doing it a bit different than last time. so please submit your nominations in. a vote thread will be up in the next few days. there will also be a formal event coming very soon, so keep your eye out for that. keep being cool!
we're currently about to host calamity's first contest in slatepor. trainers are flocking to the city to see, the city's been trying to get good pr since the gala, and it seems to be working! they're asking for both coordinators and volunteer judges to sign up.

A lifetime's dream in the making, today's the day it all comes to fruition. Meeting the renowned Professor Birch of the Hoenn region was by far one of Ezekiel's favorite moments in his eighteen years of living, if he could have his way he would have hung around the professor's laboratory like a bad smell asking him endless amounts of questions and learning his ways. The first step of many on a long journey bound to be filled with high's and lows, the goal being to inevitably become the champion of the Hoenn region.
After years of helping his parents on the farm back home in the Kanto region, the blonde haired young male adult had grown a special bond towards pokemon and had learn a great deal about different pokemon over time. Obtaining the pokedex, an amazing technological device to go along with his very own partner pokemon in the form of a Shinx left Ezekiel like a kid in a candy shop with endless money to spend.
After leaving the professor's laboratory, Ezekiel found a nearby park bench in Littleroot Town and took the time to write in his notebook about his journey from home to the beginning of his young journey, his feelings about meeting Professor Birch and also obtaining a starter pokemon, each sentence was filled with energy and excitement. Littleroot Town was a small and quiet place that at times seemed dead empty other then the occasional trainer visiting the laboratory to start their journey just as Zeke himself had done, it was the type of town that Ezekiel visioned he may one-day settle down at the end of his journey, that however was a long time away.
It was time to test the waters and see if the hype was to be lived up to. Ezekiel followed the dirt path out of Littleroot Town and towards Route 101 as he noticed the tall grass separating him from getting to the next town, Zeke wasn't in any mood to rush though, the blonde boy was sensible with how he would go about things, boldly rushing to challenge the first gym leader would be a rookie move without learning about his new partner Shinx and over time creating a special bond with his pokemon companion. Ezekiel squeezed tightly on his Shinx's pokeball as he entered the tall grass, with his partner with him every step of the way, Zeke's confidence remained high as he prepared for whatever the wild decided to test he and his partner with.
he waltzed onto the path like he owned the place — because he did. at least in his little snubbull mind. this whole route was his playground, his oyster, if you will, and nobody was going to encroach that.
see that trainer over there? yeah, he saw 'im. but did he care? nah. that trainer was allowed. snubbull was allowing him to tread on his property. that's how great of an owner he was. so great, even, he should own all the routes of hoenn.

Much to Ezekiel's surprise, Route 101 seemed eerily quiet and peaceful, almost to a fault really. In a flash of light Astra the Shinx emerged from her pokeball, the flash pokemon rubbed her soft face against Ezekiel's leg in a show of affection before bounding ahead on the path, to say that Astra was a bundle of energy would be an understatement.
A collision was almost inevitable pace that Astra was running around at, the innocent bystander who met the energetic Shinx 'face to face' was a pink dog looking pokemon of similar size to Astra. Ezekiel's eyebrows raised in interest as he retrieved his Pokedex and pointed it towards the pink colored pokemon, the device quickly scanned and begun to splurt out in a monotone robotic voice the knowledge that other trainers and researchers had already had previously found out about the pokemon,
"Snubbull. The Fairy Pokemon. Small Pokémon flee from its scary face. It is, however, considered by women to be cute."
Ezekiel listened intently to the marvellous device known as the Pokedex before frantically writing notes in his notebook about the information he had been told by his trusty device whilst also observing the physical appearance of the seemingly wild dog like pokemon, the finishing notes of Zeke's last sentence where 'It will be an interesting viewing to see how Astra handles this situation she's gotten herself into.' Ezekiel observed the surrounding area to see if any other trainer owned this particular Snubbull, however the closest trainer to Zeke was barely visible in the distance, much closer to the next town then he was. The picture of Snubbull on the Pokedex had a vicious looking facial expression, eerily similar to that of the one face to face with Astra.
"Sorry, my fault, I should have been watching where I was going!"
and then he got it. WHAM. BAM! he had been right in the collision course of some hyperactive shit.
growling loudly, more pissed of than he had ever seen his momma get and that was an accomplishment, the snubbull looked at the shinx with an anger in his eyes so bright it could probably knock someone out and make 'em think they were dyin'. how dare they! how dare they knock him over in his own damn property!
well, he'd just have to show 'em.
ignoring the shinx's words, he launched forward, attempting to snap his ice-covered fangs into its pelt. that's what ya get! ya get the fangs, ya twerp!

The wild Snubbull had two options on how to handle the situation at hand, let the whole collision incident fly under the radar or make it much bigger then it should be, the fairy pokemon seemingly decided that the later was the path it was going to follow as it lunged towards Astra with it's fangs glowing a light blue colour. Astra had half expected to be attacked in response for her actions so was prepared to move at a moment's notice, that she successfully did as the pink fairy pokemon struck out at the spot that Astra had been in a mere second ago.
"Magnificent dodge Astra, you timed that one perfectly."
Ezekiel observed Astra's facial expression, it lacked emotion, however the blonde haired boy was sure that the flash pokemon was revelling inside about her small accomplishment. Astra kept her senses alert and was ready to act at a moments notice, being so full of energy sometimes had its benefits, this playful electric type pokemon was all business though when a serious tone was needed.
"Now's your chance to fight back Astra, blind Snubbull with your Leer attack and then follow through with Tackle!"
Snubbull looked even more visibly irritated by the fact that its attack had missed the target, fighting a hostile opponent could lead to an unpredictable outcome, Ezekiel knew all too well that seizing the moment was key to victory. Astra begun running across the dirt path towards her wild fairy type opponent, her eyes began to glow red in hopes that she would catch the attention of her adversary, it would only serve as a temporary distraction though as the real offense would follow suit soon after. With his notebook still in hand Ezekiel kept shifting his attention from observing the battle to writing notes about his observations, the male young adult's train of thought was that the valuable experience gained from note taking would eventually pay off in helping both he and his team improve for the future.
ouch! owowowow! who did this kid think they were! with a fierce growl, the snubbull snapped at the shinx once more with his ice fang, determined to get a move in right after the opponent's tackle. take that, sucker!
next he lashed out with a tackle of his own, hoping that maybe if he timed it right he'd headbutt straight into the shinx's tiny body. if not, he'd make do. somehow. hopefully.
these guys were pretty insufferable though. with a loud snort, he looked at the two of them. to think, he let them onto his property without a blink of an eye! what jerks! they needed to learn their lesson.
snubbull was hit by leer! snubbull's defense decreased! snubbull was hit by tackle! snubbull used ice fang! snubbull used tackle!

Snubbull growled fiercely in response to Astra's successful combination of Leer to catch him off guard and then follow through with a Tackle attack. Astra was pleasantly surprised that the combination had gone so smoothly, the time for celebration was nigh though as the pink fairy pokemon's with it's fangs glowing a light blue colour latched onto Astra's tail, the instant chilling pain tingled through the flash pokemon's body.
"Stay strong Astra, this is your fight my friend!"
Ezekiel was hurriedly taking brief notes in his notebook while keeping a close eye on the battle, the wild Snubbull had potential to be a strong battler however it was it's anger towards others seemed to be restricting it from reaching its full potential as a fighter. After releasing his icy grip of Astra's tail, the pink fairy pokemon rushed a Tackle attack, the Snubbull's thirst to cause pain and rush an attack lead to Astra nimbly moving out of the incoming attack at the last moment.
"Now's your chance to strike Astra! Take advantage with a Tackle and Shock Wave combo!"
Snubbull was regaining his balance from missing his tackle attack as Astra begun to charge towards him with electrical sparks flying off the flash pokemon's body. Astra was surprised that Snubbull was acting so hostile, surely a simple accidental collision couldn't have caused this pent up anger to be unleashed, the energetic Shinx wanted to get to the root of the problem,
"Mr. Snubbull, why are you so hostile? My trainer and I mean no harm, the collision was simply an accident!"
he didn't care about this bull she shinx was talking about, without a word, he took it's attacks and launched his own — two more ice fangs. you know, for good measure.
these thorns in his side better leave, and quick! otherwise he was gonna unleash his real power on 'em and they'd be runnin' in fear! yeah, that's right... in fear....
a flashback crossed his mind, of the rest of the pokemon in the forest and how they laughed at his weak attacks. he shook his head. no! he wasn't weak!! he'd show them who was weak, all their sniffling little coward butts!
snubbull was hit by tackle! snubbull was hit by shockwave! snubbull used ice fang x2!

Ezekiel could hear his partner conversing with her opponent, sadly he couldn't understand the language that pokemon spoke, however the blonde haired male assumed the energetic young Shinx was trying to cool the air between the two. Snubbull was evidently having none of the chit-chat, the anger was blinding his senses and had already caused the fairy pokemon to miss an Ice Fang and Tackle attack. Astra was carefully moving around the makeshift battlefield keeping a close eye on her opponent after her Tackle and Shock Wave combination had been successful.
"Careful now Astra, bad bloods brewing in this young one. Stay alert and be ready to act at a moments notice."
Astra was feeling rather healthy so far in terms of the battle, it was clearly obvious her fairy type opponent had taken more damage than her. The wild angry Snubbull charged towards Astra once again, so far the dog like pokemon had only used either Tackle or Ice Fang to cause damage, it was highly likely those were currently the only two moves that Snubbull knew. Astra was caught off guard as she anticipated to dodge a Tackle attack that instead resulted in the cold relentless fangs of the wild Snubbull into her soft fur blue and black fur coat. Astra screeched in pain as Snubbull released his grip for a moment and then lunged in a second time to cause even more pain.
"Astra, counter with Leer to blind Snubbull and then hit it with Shock Wave!"
The feeling of pain was now evident as Astra could feel the blood frantically rushing around her body to compensate for the battle wounds that Snubbull had inflicted upon her. The wild vicious Snubbull had a killer look in his eyes, it's attention was locked onto Astra and nothing else. Pushing through the pain barrier she was experiencing a slight smirk could be seen on the flash pokemon's face as her eyes began to glow red, hopefully the highly focused Snubbull's locked on attention would be the nail in its metaphoric coffin. Ezekiel could feel the tension between his partner and the wild Snubbull, the time for chit-chat and games was long gone.
he was just about to land another ice fang when, pop, there went his bubble. the shinx had been leering at him and he hadn't noticed. his defenses were down. and, on top of it all, that shockwave felt like a critical hit. he was done for. the show was over.
guess everyone else in the forest was right.
the snubbull landed harshly on his back, uncaring and blank. he stared up at the sky with squinted eyes, feeling like his head was gonna explode.
he was weak. a wimp.
and this was what he got.
turning his head away defiantly from the sky, he shut his eyes tightly and let unconsciousness take over.
snubbull was hit by leer! snubbull was hit by shockwave! it was a critical hit! snubbull fainted! capture? more pokemon?

Success! Ezekiel felt a large weight lift off his shoulders as he watched Astra defeat the wild Snubbull in battle, that was the pair's first victory as a team, a great first step in their young journey. Ezekiel admired the effort that the wild fairy pokemon had exhibited in battle, despite the sheer amount of rage that the wild Snubbull had shown, Ezekiel was confident that with some training the attitude problems would disappear.
Zeke was willing to take a chance on adding the wild pokemon to his team as he retrieved and then tossed a red and white pokeball towards the wild Snubbull. Astra felt a sense of remorse for her actions, despite the rotten attitude that the fairy pokemon had she hoped that they could eventually settle their differences down the track.
Whilst waiting for the result of the attempted capture of Snubbull, Ezekiel took the time to retrieve a potion and motioned towards Astra to come closer to him so that he could heal her wounds. Ezekiel was gentle with his electric type partner as he softly patted the blue and black fur of his Shinx, she had fought well and gained even more admiration from her trainer for her efforts.
"You fought great Astra, I'm proud of you!"
Astra joyfully bounced around after the healing effects of the spray potion begun to take effect, the energetic flash pokemon was excited with her accomplishment and was eager to have more fun. Ezekiel scribbled some more notes into his notebook as an evident smile could be seen on the blonde haired boys face.
and then, woosh! in came the aipom! giggling at the snubbull's failure, he had known all along the tiny dog pokemon wasn't going to win. he was such a weakling! and the rest of the forum agreed.
though she guessed she did feel a little bad for him, but hey, this trainer seemed to like him well enough to capture him. maybe now he'd growl all big and strong? she shrugged a little, giggling again. by now the trainer was sure to have noticed her, but she didn't really care. if this kid decided to battle her, she'd show him just how weak that snubbull was compared to her true potential.

And there it was, his first official capture as a licensed pokemon trainer. As a young start-up trainer, Zeke knew that there would be many highs and lows ahead in his journey, some of those were sure to take place in attempting to curb the attitude problem and channelling the anger of his new team member. Ezekiel retrieved the red and white spherical capture device that lay motionless in the grass and placed it into his pocket, he would have to heal Snubbull off when he eventually made it to Oldale Town.
"Right Astra, let's get a move on."
With an evident smile on her face it was clear that Astra was proud of herself, she wasn't prepared to let this newfound confidence to get to her head though, after all it was only a single victory. As Astra went to move forward she quickly noticed a monkey-like Pokémon with a three-fingered hand at the end of its tail. Its fur was purple, while the skin of its face, inner ears, belly, feet, and the tip of its tail were beige, finally to top it all off a cheeky smile seemed to be radiating from the wild pokemon's face.
Ezekiel was highly intrigued by the sudden appearance of the monkey like pokemon as he scurried to retrieve his pokedex as he frantically pointed it towards the wild pokemon. The robotic monotone voice programmed into the pokedex, better known as 'Dexter' scanned the pokemon before blurting out information it knew about the monkey pokemon.
"Aipom. The Long Tail Pokemon. It lives atop tall trees. When leaping from branch to branch, it deftly uses its tail for balance."
The sudden appearance of the monkey pokemon now made sense, it could have possibly been paying attention to the battle between Astra and Snubbull whilst perched on a nearby tree branch. Keen to learn as much information as he possibly could, Ezekiel studied what attacks Aipom possessed, it was hard to gauge the exact experience level of the wild monkey pokemon, however the blonde haired male was confident that it's experience level would be somewhere near that of the now not so wild Snubbull. Ezekiel put his pokedex away and flipped open his notebook and begun to write this new information he had just learned, it didn't take the boy long to finish what he was writing, after all his reading and writing skills were rather refined. Astra smirked as she looked towards the wild Aipom, she was interested in seeing if the wild pokemon was willing to fight her.
the aipom giggled even more, intrigued by the offer. what the hey, these people looked friendly! who knows, maybe she could get trained a little too?
snickering a storm, the aipom nodded with a wide grin and fell off the branch, grabbing it with her tail and looping around a couple of times like an acrobat before landing expertly on the ground. she then balanced on one foot, giggling and hopping a little as she waited for the boy and his shinx to make a move.

The wild Aipom made a small spectacle of its decline from the branch it had been perched on, it was obvious the monkey pokemon possessed an adept level of coordination and balance. Ezekiel was under the impression that the wild Aipom had been watching the battle between Astra and Snubbull unfold from up in the trees, if a battle were to amount then the purple furred monkey pokemon would have witnessed the three attacking moves that Astra possessed and what combinations she preferred to use. The wild Aipom was snickering with a cheeky grin on its face while balancing on one foot, the monkey pokemon was biding his time and waiting for Astra to make a move.
"Play it careful Astra and keep track of Aipom's every move. Start off with a combination of Leer and Tackle!"
Astra wasn't going to let some cheeky little monkey best her in battle right after she had just taken down a raging bulldog. Astra's eye begun to glow red as she stared down her opposition in hopes of locking eyes and resulting in a defence drop for her opponent, moments later the flash pokemon begun running across the dirt path towards her the wild Aipom.
