he really didn't want to get up today. maybe it was the combination of laziness and the heat from the summer sun, or maybe it was the simple fact that he was just too tired to move. but no matter what he did, and no matter how he turned - cil wouldn't leave him be. the pokemon poked his back and shimmied up his sides before toying in his hair a little. when he wouldn't stir, cil huffed and nipped his cheek hard. his eyes shot open and he quickly lurched up. when the pokemon was sent flying, he reached out to catch him and held him on his lap. the two stared at one another before his lips curled into a little smile. a little chart on the wall nearest to his bed had a t-chart, one side for cil and one side for micah. he drew another tally on cil's side and gave the pokemon a little smirk. cil seemed smug with himself and clambered off micah's bed as the young man rose to get ready for the day.
the sun was bright and high in the sky, the people of littleroot town were bustling about as usual. he couldn't believe that after today he would be leaving. but he had to stop by professor birch's lab before he did. throwing on his jacket, pulling on his pants and his hat along with his mask - he waited for cil to finish his breakfast before letting the pokemon climb on his back and rest his head against his shoulder. the two left the small home that they had been occupying, and waved a goodbye to the young couple that owned it. they had allowed him to live there after seeing him enter the town in the rain. what a lovely group of people. micah tossed a small smile at cil who made a noise of happiness as they headed towards professor birch's lab.
the eccentric professor most likely would have been tending to some new trainers. he wasn't much of a trainer himself, he preferred to be the one who brought the pokemon into life rather than the one who used them to gain titles. he held no ill will against trainers, it just wasn't his cup of tea. he liked the simple life that he had, with him and cil.

POKEMON
| Today was the day that Wesley received his first pokemon from Professor Birch. While he had no expectations about the affair, he was slightly disappointed to find that his partner would be a tiny little blue penguin. It wasn’t awful, and there was certainly the potential for it to grow into something bigger, and more impressive, but for not it was a little underwhelming.
As he left the lab, his attention was on something other than his new pokemon (which was safely tucked away in her pokeball). Instead, he only had eyes for the orange pokemon egg held in his hands. It was something special Birch decided to give to him alongside his starting pokemon. His hopes were that it would hatch into something cool, but that first required it to hatch, and how long that would take.
Wesley let out a heavy sigh, taking his eyes off the egg just in time to quickly dodge another man who seemed to be heading into the lab.
“Ah, sorry.”

cil made a noise of alarm as someone passed by micah. he stepped back catching himself for a second and blinked twice. straightening up, he stared at the person that had bumped into him with curiosity. someone wearing sunglasses so early in the day, and with dark hair and his mouth covered. he seemed to be apologetic enough, and the egg in his hand seemed to be something fascinating him if he was to almost bump into someone because of it. looking from the egg to the individual himself, he pulled his phone out of his pocket and began to text before showing it to him.
there was no harm done. what pokemon is it?
he was a pokemon breeder at heart. wanting to know all of the different types of eggs and categorizing them in his book. but this was different at its best. it was much different than watching a pokemon give birth or even seeing a smaller pokemon being brought into the world. this was an egg, all by itself being taken care of by a human. he wondered what could have come out of it. he remembered the egg that he had received only days ago, it was the egg of a kangashkhan. he wasn't entirely sure if he wanted to keep it around partly because it would be hard to travel with such a rowdy pokemon.
but he wasn't going to up and abandon her, and maybe he could come to love her and her him as he loved cil.

POKEMON
| Once he apologized, Wesley was more than content to let the interaction end there. He wasn’t interested in making friends with random strangers, and he was eager to look into ways to help his egg hatch faster. There was also the fact that the other man started messing with his phone right after the apology.
There was a bit of hesitance to leave, however, as his apology hadn’t been accepted yet. It was common curtsey to accept apologies in these sorts of situations, and when was outright ignored it was a little off-putting. Wesley’s hesitance would be rewarded with the other man holding up his phone to show a message. Apparently, he hadn’t ignored Wesley’s apology.
“Oh uh… I don’t know.” He shrugged. “The professor gave it to me to find out.” Wesley wanted to ask about the phone, and why this guy wasn’t talking, but it seemed rude to ask outright, especially when he couldn’t think of a tactful way to phrase it. For now it wasn’t a huge issue. The awkward pause between him speaking and the guy replying were, well, awkward, but Wesley would deal with it.
