Kohaku frowned as he looked at his reflection in the water, a light bruise that already seemed to be fading marring his delicate and feminine features near his eye. Near his lip there was a slight split that was already crusting over in signs of scabbing that led to easy healing. Nothing permanent but it was enough to darken his mood just the slightest and make the young man grit his teeth in anger. He’d managed to lose his temper just a few days ago…or perhaps it was closer to a week now, in either case there’s been someone who hadn’t been able to shut up and stop pestering him on his looks. So of course in true fashion to his nature, Kohaku had lashed out violently startling both the other male and Scheherazade with his fury. The other male hadn’t been expecting the violence let alone how well Kohaku had fought so it was natural to say that the shorter male had won, granted that usually tended to be the case when it came to trading blows. However, the other male had managed to land a few hits in and these were the outcome and only reminder of it.
It was enough though, especially considering Kohaku hated getting hit in his face no matter how much he might dislike his androgynous looks. A soft nicker from beside him drew the fuchsia eyed young man from the water to his ponyta, her eyes looking over him worriedly. He let a soft smile curl his lips, wincing only slightly as it pulled at the slip before murmuring for Scheherazade to come closer and she willingly obeyed. Butting her head against his shoulder affectionately and nipping at the ends of his hair, causing him to chuckle. Just like that his mood slowly lifted again and he sighed lightly, pushing himself to his feet with a little grunt. “Alright, alright girl. You’ve made your decision known.” His voice lilted slightly with the coloring of his accent, still holding strong even if he had lived elsewhere for a while. It was a nice day though and he had no desire to ruin it with his foul mood. Good things had been happening to him…well as good as seeing the best friend you’ve been crushing on since high school can get. He still remembered that meeting from a few days ago and huffed softly in fondness.
A small twinge curling around his heart before he brushed it off. Yes, he’d been pining after his best friend for ages but…he couldn’t let that bring him down or ruin his chances with someone else. Fishes in the sea and all…and here was one right now.
There was no doubt about it, Lio had made a huge mistake. Well, maybe not huge by other’s standards, but to him it was pretty big. When he went upwards from Oldale, he was curious as to where it would lead to, only to find that it lead to a dead end. Or so he figured, as when he turned the corner of the final cliff he was greeted with a gigantic body of water. He didn’t want to remotely try to swim across, that spelled danger, but not only that it spelled stupidity.
The hoothoot he caught earlier was resting on his shoulder again, he decided to give the Turtwig a rest. The bird was much lighter anyways, and she sang a soothing song to calm his nerves. He needed that, after he was greeted with a trainer along with the body of water. The trainer, while he (or she?) had a ponyta out with them they also seemed to be… kind of battered. That made the young teen nervous, and he tried to move around the other to check out the water closer.
“Thanks Rhythm.” He whispered to Hoothoot when she gave him a reassuring nudge. Despite not being a psychic type, she seemed to have empathy down pat and he was glad for that. She was the first none-frightening pokemon other than his starter that he had come across. “I don’t think this was the wisest choice in direction.” He continued a little louder, finding his confidence slowly building its way up. He was still nervous, and if one looked at him they could see him trying to shrink away from the stranger with the Ponyta, but it was enough to not just high-tail it out of there.

Scheherazade’s ears flicked forward as she heard the trainer and pokemon, her fiery eyes landing on them as she lifted her head from where she’d started grazing. Her nostrils flared as she took a deep whiff of their scent, her tail of fire flicking lazily behind her as she took a step forward out of curiosity. Kohaku swatting at her good naturedly did little but make her dart out the way and whirl around in a playful stance, coaxing him from where he was resting. The young man rolled his eyes and chuckled at the pokemon before shaking his head at her, murmuring softly. “I’m too tired to play right now, Zadie.” Her ears flicked back against her skull for a moment in distaste before relaxing her posture but her attention once again returned to the two that seemed to be examining the area. Her ears perked up and listening intently before slowly and curiously trotting forward and making it so her trainer had to get up and follow. Not that she minded, he needed to get up anyway in her opinion and play with her more so this was the perfect excuse to bait him into some fun.
The jolly little filly came prancing up to the pair curiously, snuffling and nickering her name softly as her eyes went from the owl pokemon on the other male’s shoulder to the male himself. Her mane of fire flickered just as her tail ‘swished’ behind her and her head tilted, ears now flickering between her trainer’s approaching steps and the two in front of her. Kohaku was a little embarrassed by Scherazade’s friendly nature and her insistence in going up to the two but it caused him to catch some of the other male’s words and he briefly wondered if he was lost. Once he had caught up to them he put a restraining hand on her neck. To others it would probably just look like he was resting his palm flat against her neck but he could feel the tension in her body as she resisted reaching forward towards them because of it. Sometimes he knew the filly all too well but then he supposed it was only natural with how long they’d been together now and how close they’d grown.
“Sorry about that, she’s…well she’s rather nosy.” Scheherazade blew out an offended breath at him and butted his shoulder lightly, a soft nicker of irritation her answer for his words. He chuckled warmly and slid a soothing hand down her coat before looking back at the young man. He hesitated for a moment before he asked curiously, “I thought I heard…um…would you happen to be lost?” His voice had a soft lilt to it as usual, his accent never have really gone away and clinging not that he was really surprised anymore considering his mother and he constantly spoke in Japanese instead of English before he left to come here.
