Let's see what we can kick up on the boardwalk! Although nobody had mentioned it to Dmitri before, there was in fact a boardwalk. And he had in fact tried the fries, which were saturated in enough vinegar to make the food inedible. At least for Dmitri's taste.
How could my parents eat the stuff?! The fries grew worse as the bucket sank lower, so he thought about tossing them away and looking for something to get the sour taste off his tongue.
"Are those fried slowpoke tails?!" Perhaps they would be worth trying, though he spotted a few slowpoke behind the shop clutching at their severed rumps. They just leave them alive to suffer? Is that even ethical!? He'd heard tales of their tails regrowing but, it still didn't seem right to watch them suffer.
I guess I won't be patronizing their stand today. Dmitri's stomach growled at him, and he gave pause. *Grooooooowl.* Perhaps there was funnel cake here, he'd always wanted to try that while in Hoenn. He quickly hunted down a dessert stand. "Do you have funnel cake?" He received a sharp nod, and he almost shouted in joy.
"I'll take one, please!"
He took the food over to a bench and stared out at the bluffs. I wonder what Kristmar is up to. Maybe he's gotten some more neat TMs? Tonight was the Gala, and he wanted to make sure his pokemon were in top notch for showing off their strength. What are we all going to do there with the free time anyways? Might as well sneak a few battles in.

the shadows are getting longer and we know no envy
Slateport city was a place that Kristmar could get used to. The beach attracted many visitors and sunbathers, the bustling market lured many people in and the port was a constant hustle and bustle of strangers going to and fro. Trainers were everywhere and, honestly, the only place this city was missing was a gym. If Slateport had that, it'd be perfect.
Casually roaming near the pier, hunting for a battle without shame, Kris dawdled about with his pokénav in his hands and his seviper - Kasimir - slithering closely behind. For someone who was out on the prowl for a friendly battle to pass the time with, he certainly didn't have his eyes on the road though, he was almost completely immersed in whoever he was likely messaging and only glanced up to check the direction he was going in.
One time he glanced up though, Kris noticed a familiar brunette with a characteristic undercut. What was his... oh! Dmitri, right? It was that guy he sold Dazzling Gleam to for his poor abra who only suffered defeat after crushing defeat.
"Hey there!" Kris called out to the other male after a moment's debate on seeing that he was eating something. The slender blonde clasped his hands behind his back and hovered closer, wearing an amicable smile. "Dmitri, right?" His crimson eyes flitted to his seviper, a large and muscular serpentine beast, when he caught up to his trainer, narrowing his amber eyes slightly at this stranger. "Fancy bumping into you again~ How's the abra doing?"

"Speak of the devil!" Now came Kristmar and his Seviper, though Dmitri hadn't expected to see them here. Maybe they're on business? He didn't suppose Kris would stop to chit chat with a one time customer if he had business, however. So perhaps it was pleasure that brought him here. Apparently he kept the company of a Seviper as well, which was new.
"Well, we still lose, but he's happier now!" I'd rather not blame Abra exclusively. Still, there was a more pressing matter that Dmitri wanted to pester Kris with. He tore a chunk of funnel cake and stuffed it in his mouth, chewing for a moment before iterating further. He cleared his throat of the cake.
"I was actually just thinking about you." That's not creepy, right? Dmitri hoped Kris would allow him to examine his wares once more. There ought to be something he could use, maybe for one of his other pokemon if not Hoodini again. "Do you have any other TMs than Dazzling Gleam?"
He patted his pocket, and the sound of jingling coinage tucked inbetween bills chimed in the air. Obviously I'm paying. He hoped that would intrigue Kris further, and keep his attention at least for the moment. "I was wondering if you had any Ground-type moves for my Broski. Or maybe something Dark or Poison?" It was a stretch, but Kris seemed resourceful enough to have something exactly along the lines of what Dmitri pursued.

H-He'd been thinking... oh. For a very brief moment Kristmar let a flicker of open surprise pass over his features before... ahaha. TMs. Of course. The slim long-haired male gave a light peal of laughter and brushed away an errant thought with a gentle shake of his head. Well, he was scoping out a possible battle but possibly catching someone's interest with his wares was just as good.
"That's a shame... but at least he's more optimistic, poor thing," he hummed, bringing around his satchel before easing himself down onto the bench. "But, yeah, I've got a couple more." Broski, though? That was an actual name for a pokémon? Kris gave the other young man a silently humoured smirk and dropped his wine red eyes to the bag that rested on his lap. "One's a decent ground move that you might like. It's quite popular."
Quite popular, indeed. Kris had used it himself a couple of times and had sold a handful of teachings of it already. Earthquake was a beast of a move and a steal for the price that the coordinator sold it for.
Kris opened his satchel and began to rummage through it, slipping his hand into the slim pocket he kept his technical machines in. Kasimir, who had been watching Dmitri closely, slid right up to his trainer and rested his large head on his lap, loosely coiling around one of his legs while he continued to coldly stare the brown-haired male down.
"Right, I've got..." he trailed off, pulling out the four differently coloured discs. Burnt orange, pastel pink, light brown and pale blue. "Fire Blast, Ice Beam, Earthquake and Dazzling Gleam, which you had already." He plucked the ground-type TM out of the four he held up to show to the brunette sat besides him. The number twenty-six was etched onto the sleek object and it glinted in the sunshine as Kris held it between his slender fingers. "It'd be four dollars, just like last time."
Post by Dmitri Khvostov on Jul 23, 2015 3:15:08 GMT
"Yeah, I've got the money with me. Earthquake, huh? Sounds intimidating." It was nice that Kris was offering his wares at such an inexpensive rate. If Dmitri wanted anything more of him, it would've been Fire Blast or Ice Beam. Broski already knows some good Ice-type moves, and none of my pokemon are Fire-type. Perhaps Abra could learn Fire Blast, but was that a worthwhile investment? Not enough to coax another four bucks out of him.
"Just the one for now, if you don't mind." He slipped some money out of a pocket from the change of his funnel cake purchase. Then a pokeball dropped from his grasp, and Swinub came bursting out in excitement. Woah, easy boy. He started lunging at Dmitri's funnel cake, and he was forced to tear a piece off and toss it at the ground to tame the beast. Of course, he scarfed the piece down in earnest, and begged for more.
"Did you want any funnel cake? It's really good." He held Broski in one arm and the cake on a paper plate in the other, struggling to keep both separate. Calm down, Broski, I can buy more later. He shoved Broski towards Kris, along with the money to pay for the TM Earthquake.
"Can Abra learn Fire Blast?" He wasn't sure if he should buy it yet, but perhaps Kris could convince him whether it was a worthwhile buy for an Abra. He was a coordinator and not so much a trainer, but perhaps they would have some insight.
LAIKA OF GANGNAM STYLE
kristmar mortensen Dmitri's pretty naive so I'm not even gonna remove the part about Fire Blast for Abra, despite him not being able to learn it obviously.<3

On seeing the energetic pokémon - Broski, he guessed - appear and almost lunge for his trainer's food, Kris quickly inched a little further away on the bench, giving them a little more room. Kasimir, disliking all this sudden movement, hissed warningly at the swinub, flashing his fangs, and tighted a little protectively around his trainer's calf.
"It's alright, Kasi," the blonde murmured a little fondly to the seviper, leaning forward to reward the creature an affectionate rub on his neck. The snake, still very unimpressed, gave another churlish hiss, albeit quieter, but continued to leer silently at the bite-sized pokémon.
Kris was about to gently chide him for his touchy attitude when the pokémon was thrust in his direction.
"H-Huh?" Kris uttered out, looking over at Dmitri as he... reluctantly put his arms around the piglike creature that was now on his lap. Funnel... cake? Was he talking to him? Just in case, he shook his head politely and declined. "No, I'm... alright." And, with an innocently playful afterthought once he collected himself, he added: "Unless you're inviting."
With a little smirk and a tiny narrow of his vibrant cerise eyes, Kris shifted the swinub about on his lap a little awkwardly so he could get at least a little comfortable. Kasimir, still quiet and grouchy, just continued glaring at this Broski thing. The coordinator brought the technical machine around and touched the small creature with it on its back. As usual, the disc began to spin in its sleeve, beginning the process of instructing the move it contained. "Nah, abra can't learn Fire Blast though. Just Dazzling Gleam. Otherwise I probably would've tried to push it onto you the last time we met."

"Oh, well that's okay." Push it on me? He might have felt uncomfortable around Kris after that, but business was a mutual transaction. Faulting him for trying to push his wares was like saying advertising was wrong. Not that Dmitri liked commercials interrupting his television. He eyed Seviper warily.
"Kasi? Is that short for something?" I don't like the way it's looking at Broski... He pouted, glaring across at Kris and eager to grab his pokemon back. But Kristmar still had the disc placed against Broski; the job wasn't done yet.
Stuffing another piece of funnel cake into his mouth before finishing the other bite, his cheeks swelled to pocket the excess. "Are you sure?" There was only a small piece left, and if Kristmar refused he was going to scarf it down, too.

Thankfully, the swinub appeared quite well-behaved when it came to teaching him technical machines. Without much interruption, the disc was able to finish its transferring process while the fair-haired coordinator kept a close eye. "Mhm," he hummed, a little distractedly as he watched the swinub on his lap, "Kasimir is his name, but don't worry, he won't do anything. He's just a sour little snake... aren't you?" Kris reached for the dour serpent, despite the way he glared at the ice-type and expelled a churlish vibe at the almost babying tone his trainer used, one more suited for a grown puppy than a intimidatingly large snake. "Aren't you, Kasi?"
After a couple more moments, Kris retrieved the TM from the small pig pokémon with a wider grin.
"All done!" He chimed, sliding it into his satchel while nudging Broski back onto his trainer's lap instead of his. "I think this little guy wants that funnel cake more than I do." Now that the swinub no longer occupied the coordinator's legs, Kasimir slid his head protectively onto it with another quiet hiss. Kris gave the sweet morsel that was held up for him a humoured look and shook his head gently. "Usually I'm offered a drink... not a little piece of cake. I'll have to decline though."

"Ah, well, I'm not quite of drinking age, and I have a boyfriend." He reached out for Broski, who scampered into his embrace and oinked a few times, happy to be a few inches farther from the snake. Stroking his fur, Dmitri stuffed the comfort into the swine's snout before glancing back to Kris and Kasimir. I don't suppose he'd want to... battle? Least of all Kasimir against Broski, surely.
"So, do you battle much at all? Coordinators are new to me, we don't have them back home." Back home was a much more brutal place, not that they didn't know the meaning of fun and amusement. They just preferred a more robust form of pastimes that typically involved fighting or some form of inflicted pain. Only the women ever seemed to concern themselves with fashion.
"If you want, we could have a battle sometime. I'm supposed to meet my boyfriend soon, but I'd be free tomorrow if you're interested." Dmitri's phone buzzed in his pocket, before he plucked it out and saw the sender: Usa. "I've got to go now, but if you're up to it, hit me up sometime. Here's my number. Oh and, thanks again, you've been more helpful than you could imagine!" Briefly after imparting Kristmar with his phone number he took his leave, jogging at a brisk pace to go see his beloved for a date.
