hello calamity! we're nearing the two months mark in a few weeks. how time flies! right now we have two things going on that need your participation. the first is an activity check! it is impotant that you check in so you don't lose your face claim. the second is the otm nomiations! we're doing it a bit different than last time. so please submit your nominations in. a vote thread will be up in the next few days. there will also be a formal event coming very soon, so keep your eye out for that. keep being cool!
we're currently about to host calamity's first contest in slatepor. trainers are flocking to the city to see, the city's been trying to get good pr since the gala, and it seems to be working! they're asking for both coordinators and volunteer judges to sign up.

Having become more familiar with the surrounding area, Sylvester found himself grazing the boundaries of Route 106 yet again. While prior to this moment he had been scouring the vicinity for feral pokemon, he was now waiting for a certain someone to show up.

Waiting at the side of the trail, Sylvester simply paced around the area, peering out at the sea when he heard what seemed to be pokemon calling out. The sound was faint but still audible, drowned out slightly by the waves that crashed along the sandy coast. The weather was fair, a strong breeze rolling by to oft-keep oneself cool on the hot & sunny day.
With Honedge next to him, he was ready to battle...

I can't back down from a challenge! But what pokemon would he use, and how quickly could he catch up with Sylvester? He set out from the Dewford PokeCenter, eager to accept foe Sylvester's challenge and make him suffer for beating him so effortlessly. It's time for a little payback, Sylvester.
That bloody chicken can't save you this time! It was uncanny that poultry should be so monstrous, even if it was flaming and had the legs of an ostrich. It was just too potent to be fair, but today he would prove that Sylvester was no match without such a raw powerhouse carrying him to an easy victory.
Or at least, that was Dmitri's hope.
He was finally around the Route Sylvester suggested, and he looked around and walked along for a time. Then he found the lonesome figure, beside him the Honedge he'd caught. It was an impressive pokemon that Dmitri had wanted, once upon a time. Until he learned its major flaw.
I suppose Hoodini wouldn't be a terrible choice. He's weak to him normally, but he could really use the experience. Besides, Honedge doesn't learn anything useful against Abra for awhile. He'd considered training an Honedge himself, until an expert trainer advised against it because of the time it took to learn an acceptable move set.
"I'm using Hoodini, I don't suppose you remember him much?" Releasing Abra, he hoped to impress Sylvester with what he assumed would be an easy victory. Ending their conversation there, he abruptly went telepathic with Hoodini.
That Honedge shouldn't know any Ghost-type moves, so you should be safe to fight him. But keep an eye out for him regardless. Hoodini gave the affirmative, and prepared to launch his assault.

Watching Dmitri approach him from along the trail, Sylvester smiled, glad that the friend and fellow trainer of his accepted the challenge he had issued. Noticing his choice of pokemon, Sylvester did his utmost to hide the arrogance that brewed within his mind. 'Does he even know psychic pokemon are weak to ghost types?' At the very least he was about to find out...
However, first Sylvester would need to act quick. "Kseniya, dodge his first attack!" Digging under the loose sand, the ghost sword narrowly escaped being hurt by the Abra. However, surfacing soon after to go on the offensive, it was caught by the second identical move. "Alright Kseniya, use shadow claw!" The confidence in his voice was more than obvious. "Use shadow claw again!" Dmitri's Abra was between rock and a hard place.

I can't believe... how did he get a Ghost-type move so fast?! Hoodini panicked but managed to dodge the first blow, the attack nearly glancing at his side. Abra whirled around and blasted at the foe with a Dazzling Gleam, but was struck down by a fierce blow. Hoodini plummeted to the ground, hacking and coughing from the sheer force.
Hoodini, are you alright?! Whatever aspirations Dmitri had for winning were lost now, but at least Hoodini would be prepared in the future. I'm sorry for throwing you into the meat grinder on this, Abra. Hoodini winced at the damage inflicted.
Just try to keep up the damage, and evade it as much as possible. Dmitri felt helpless and cruel, putting his pokemon against such unbeatable odds all the time. When will this stop happening to me? It seemed like he was doomed to fail perpetually.

Noticing that the Abra was fighting without Dmitri saying a thing, he quickly remembered the one neat factor about psychic type pokemon. Even his own, Brolaf the Slowpoke, was oft-known to talk to him telepathically, albeit not as efficiently as these two seemed to be operating. "Dodge Abra's attack." Yet another maneuver brought the ghost sword underneath the sand, saving itself from the flash.
However, once more the second flash hit as the Honedge ascended from it's position under the sand. Still willing to go on, though, the pokemon chased towards the Abra with great haste. "Kseniya, use shadow claw two more times." Aspiring to end this match as swiftly as possible, Sylvester decided to stay on the attack. It would not be long judging by the way the Abra initially winced when struck by the Honedge. 'Just one more hit...'

Dodge and use Dazzling Gleam?! This was spiralling down fast, and Dmitri couldn't help but feel responsible for his pokemon's misery. Hoodini refused to talk back for the remainder of the battle, and Dmitri could tell he was having qualms with him as a trainer. He was starting to think it was more than just his own personal weakness, but Dmitri's in conjunction with these other factors.
Teleport around the next Shadow Claw. Abra faded from his spot, transmitting his physical form to the hindside of Honedge. Kseniya ripped through the previous location before whirling around to face Hoodini. Attack, now...! Abra hesitated.
Unleash Dazzling Gleam! It blasted in the Steel-type's face abruptly, knocking down its health once more. But it was still hardly enough to compensate for Hoodini's utterly devastated chances. Please, forgive me, Hoodini. Abra remained silent, brooding over the circumstances.

Acknowledging that the Abra of Dmitri's was not going to give up easily, he realized that his Honedge was all out of enthusiasm for the fight. Instead of dodging the attacks Abra dished out, Kseniya took the brunt of the two flashes head on. Even still, it was not enough to knock her down.
"Alright Kseniya, try to hit him twice with your shadow claw." Sharging towards Hoodini, the avender hue enveloped the ghost sword, slashing away at the vulnerable psychic type pokemon. Whether or not he would dodge was irrelevant to Sylvester. He would just keep pressuring his foe, and before long the results wee likely to be in his favor, as they were already. 'We should win now...'

"Alright, alright, call off your Honedge!" Dmitri came running inbetween the two, Hoodini was obviously down for the count. Their battle was over and Dmitri failed to secure the win, but that was the least of his concerns now. Abra lie on the ground, helpless and immobile. Are you okay, buddy? Dmitri paused.
Not even the faintest response.
"Hoodini!" He shook the feeble creature in his embrace, rattling it to stir it from its unconscious state. It barely moved, but he was able to surmise it was okay. I need to get you to a PokeCenter straight away. Heaving Abra onto his back, Dmitri rushed his farewells.
"I need to get Abra back to a PokeCenter fast. I'll have to settle the score some other time!" He was already jogging down the road towards Dewford, watching where he placed his step and looking back to Hoodini every few paces.
