Allowing Marley to stay out instead of returning him to his ball, the ball uf pink and white fur looked up at Sylvester with a curious look, being able to tell Sylvester was slightly troubled. He did not do well with girls, obvious as he had never really been with one in the relationship sense. Pokemon always seemed to be his priority...but now?
"I've been...alright, I guess. Been to lots of places, seen things...good and bad. I don't know if you've heard of them before, but I ran into Team Magma at the summer gala event in Slateport. After fending them off, I noticed one of my friends being harassed by a ranger..." Finally the flush of red left his face, distracted from the fact he was so close to a pretty girl like her. He looked over to her when he decided to speak again.
"Do me a favor, will you? If you ever run into them...just run. Don't let them capture you or your pokemon. Do you think you could do that?" The sense of fear was present in his eyes. Sylvester cared little what happened to himself, but the best way to get to someone wasn't going through them, no. You targeted those close to them. Even now, Sylvester knew he could not handle something like that. "Please?" His left hand moved over to layer over her own in desperation...

Listening to him, she smiled when he started. He seemed to be doing alright, but when he started speaking of a team magma in slatwport, she began to frown. Shed heard the name before from her father, but she never really listened much about his work talk. Her father was a ranger also, so hearing about someone being harassed by one was almost shocking to her. She looked over at him while he was talking, concern written all over her face.
"I don't want anything to do with them. The rangers, though?" she was concerned and wondered if her father had anything to do with it or even an idea. Her eyes fell to her hands again; She didn't know what to think. She didn't want to think about it anymore, though, but when he asked her to promise and placed his hand over hers, she faintly smiled and looked at him again. "I promise," She unclasped her hands and moved one over his. She didn't like seeing him afraid, but it's not like she wanted her pokemon or her to be captured either.
"If you were all the way in slateport, why are you back here?" just a curious question, really, but she was trying to take the conversation in a different direction. One to take her mind off the rangers and two to get him to stop looking so afraid. She wanted to see him smile again, but she didn't know how to do that.

Listening to her give in to his wishes, Sylvester allowed a faint smile to cleanse the fret and worry that had been residing openly on his face. She seemed content, which was good, giving Sylvester some peace of mind. "Why am I all the way back here? Well, why not?" He answered her question with his own, his smile growing as he felt Harley's hand clasp gently over his own. "To be perfectly honest, I have met a lot of people on this route. It has a sense of nostalgia and safety about it. Besides, if I didn't come back then we wouldn't have been able to catch up. It's a good thing that I keep coming back here, wouldn't you agree?" He gazed over her features, staring into her bare eyes...which was when he remembered.
"Wait, so you don't where glasses anymore?" He knew plenty had changed, but Sylvester seemingly neglected to acknowledge that until now. Truth be told, he liked the way she looked in glasses. Though, perhaps Harley did not feel the same, so he would not openly say that to her. 'All of it is coming back to me now...'

"I'm not complaining!" She laughed, bumping her shoulder into him playfully. "I can understand though, and I'm glad you did... I missed you," He had been her best friend when they were kids and she never really had many friends, so it was no surprise that she missed him. It was kind of embarrassing to admit, so she looked down at their hands again, trying to contain her blush. It probably didn't work that well, though. Looking at their hands, she noticed that he hadnt moved his yet. Not that she wanted him to, because she didn't, but the feeling was nice. His question pulled her away from her thoughts though and brought her attention back to him.
"No, I still have my glasses. I just thought contacts would be easier for this sort of thing in case they break. They're not really that comfortable though," She had only been wearing them for a few days, but they felt strange after wearing glasses for most of her life. She wasn't too terribly blind either, they just helped with her reading and focusing. She noticed his smile then and smiled herself. "Why are you smiling?" She laughed a little, then. A little nervous, maybe.
Post by Sylvester Blackburne on Jul 30, 2015 7:13:46 GMT
"Well that's no good." He didn't imagine it would be very comfortable dealing with the contacts during one's ventures as a trainer. "Maybe you should just stick to your glasses?" At least now it didn't seem like Sylvester was suggesting Harley wear them because of his personal preference. Though may it would still seem like that...he hoped not. Harley was rather attractive either way...
"I guess I'm smiling because...I think I am kind of happy for once." It was a difficult thing to say, but to feel? Sylvester felt as though he was a lot better off now for some reason, being reminded about how simple life was back at home—before he became a trainer. Back when his biggest worry didn't have to do with teams aqua or magma. "There really hasn't been much to smile about 'til you came along." He grew a bit nervous...
'Well...that doesn't sound creepy at all.' Sarcasm.
"Maybe I will when I get to a pokecenter," She smiled at him a little. The glasses were more comfortable, so obviously they were her preference. Maybe the contacts should be a back up in case she does ever break her glasses. She wanted to change them now that she was thinking about it, but it would be too difficult to clean the lenses before putting them back up.
When he started speaking, she wasn't too shocked. He could be happy about anything, but when he continued her blush was one hundred percent. Harley averted her eyes to their hands again and bit her lip gently. "Its hard for me to believe that," why would someone like him be interested in her? The signs were all there so far, but they were getting harder to play off as her imagination and hopes. Certainly someone, somewhere, has made him happier. She was extremely nervous now, but why? These were all good things, but She has a habit of sabotaging herself and believing things she shouldn't.
Post by Sylvester Blackburne on Jul 30, 2015 7:59:53 GMT
"...Why?" He looked at Harley with an inquisitive look. Maybe she was just saying that to alleviate the potentially obvious nervousness festering within him? It perplexed him as to what reason she might think he'd lie about something like that. "I haven't seen anyone from Lilycove in awhile, let alone you." He tried to reason with Harley the best he could.
"And to be honest, you're the only person I would want to see from there." Maybe dissing his parents and all their old friends would make her lean towards the credibility of his words. Then again, now that Sylvester thought about it...he didn't really have a lot of friends back home. It was mostly just Harley, and he honestly couldn't complain. Sylvester gently removed his hand from her own, and rest it upon her head, brushing the hair on his side behind her ear. "I haven't really given it a lot of thought since leaving home but...I really missed you." From the coincidental meets they would have all across Lilycove, to the times he had extended her an invitation over to his house—Sylvester could tell his life had been missing something. That something was Harley...
She was asked why but she couldn't form a response that wouldn't embarrass the life out of her. He continued to talk then and it helped buy her some time, but she still couldn't form a decent sentence in her head. It was when he moved his hand to brush her hair behind her ear that she could find the words to speak, but her heart skipped a beat at the contact and she almost lost them all over again. "I feel the same way, about you," She couldn't really care less about her family right now, especially knowing that about the ranger. They pressured her too much anyway and it felt free to get away. But when she decided to be a trainer, they didn't argue. In fact, they mentioned Sylvester a few times. They always liked him, teased Harley about him...
He brought up missing her and she smiled faintly. She still didn't understand why he was doing this and it took everything she had to accept it and not push him away. She didn't know what to do, this was new to her. Shed never dated, much less even gotten close to one. Whether or not anyone was interested in her, she didn't care. She only had eyes for one person, and everyone else was just in the way.
"I really missed you too, Sylvester," she smiled, though she really looked like she was about to cry.
Post by Sylvester Blackburne on Jul 30, 2015 8:37:57 GMT
"Why are you crying?" He could see the moisture welling up in Harley's eyes, and his hand withdrew from her face instinctively. "I'm sorry..." Sylvester wanted to turn away to alleviate the embarrassment of crying in front of someone, but he just couldn't manage. He gazed towards her with stark worry, wondering how best he could help. That was when Marley forced himself out of Sylvester's lap and onto Harley's own, ribbons slithering around Harley like a hug as he nuzzled her face trying to cheer the poor girl up. 'I see...taking her all to yourself.'
Sylvester almost grew jealously selfish, unhappy that it was Marley and not himself in the embrace with Harley. Yet, maybe this would raise the girl's spirits and get her mind off of the matter. Sylvester could only hope, as he leaned against Harley, his arm lying across her back. "Please...don't cry.'
"I'm not sad, so don't be sorry. Just emotions," She laughed a little as she wiped at her eyes, running the moisture away. She smiled down at Marley when he tried to make her feel better and pet the pokemon on the head a little. "Thank you, though," she told the sylveon before looking back at Sylvester.
"I was upset when you left, mad even. I'm just happy you're here,"with me She couldn't finish it, but wiped her eyes some more as he leaned into her. She leaned into him as well and it felt nice having his arm around her. The feeling of butterfrees in her belly were real and it was a nice feeling. She wanted this for who knows how long and finally she had a taste. She wanted more, but the contact was nearly intoxicating by itself. Maybe it was because she was new to these emotions and feelings being expressed, but she didn't care. She just didn't want it to end.

"Don't worry about it." Sylvester hated for it to sound like he was telling Harley how to act, though fortunately he had an idea of why she was feeling this way. His hand rubbed the arm of Harley's opposite to the side he was on, leaning his cheek on the top of her head, Marley fixing himself so that he was hugging the two of them together. "I'm sorry...for leaving without telling you what I was doing." After all, he had to. With his parents being very controlling of him, Sylvester couldn't very well give people a heads-up that he was becoming a trainer, leaving Lilycove behind him...
"I'm here with you now though, if it counts." His tone grew more cheerful—optimistic. "I won't leave you alone this time." The guilt that he had begun to unearth was settling down, letting out a sigh as he squeezed the girl into him. It certainly was getting emotional for the two of them, and Marley did his best to relieve the current situation by running his ribbons across their faces playfully.
She rubbed at her eyes one more time before turning slightly towards him after he had leaned against her some more. Her arms wrapped around his middle the best that they could and she smiled. "I forgive you," she teased with a little laugh. "But it really means a lot. You're all I have here; I don't want to lose you again," the idea of it hurt, so she tried not to think about it more than she had too.
Sylveon tickling her face though was enough to make her forget as she laughed some, trying to shy away from the ribbons a bit. She didn't think she has been this happy in a while, and maybe now she understood what Sylvester was saying before. Her smiles were rare after he left Lilycove, seemingly abandoning her and others. She felt lost without him there, but now she felt fine, like herself. It was weird how she never noticed before, but it seemed like her parents had when they were pushing her to the max until she went her own way. "This is nice," She said after a few moments of silence, her eyes closed and a content smile on her lips.

Laughing internally at the games Marley was playing, Sylvester began to relax a little now that he knew him and Harley were on the same page. "Yeah, things will be a lot better now." Of course, he was for the most part discussing their career of being a pokemon trainer. They'd be able to battle, and go looking for wild pokemon together. Maybe they'd even trade pokemon, only time could tell...
"So, what were some of your favorite pokemon again? It's been awhile since we've talked about that sort of thing." Though, his ulterior motive was to maybe catch her something she would want if he ever got some time alone. Now that they were both trainers, her wanted Harley to take it a little more seriously than an excuse to be with him. Though, he didn't quite mind that so much.
"I'm glad to be away from them finally, even if this is all so new to me," She smiled a little, keeping her arms around his middle even after the forgiveness. She didn't want to move them or lessen the contact they had and to be honest, she really liked the closeness; it felt right.
He asked her about her favorite pokemon for the first time in a while. Harley didnt expect him to remember, but looking at the Sylveon, she smiled. Espurr and growlithe are my favorites, but Eevee is a close second," She didn't know his intentions, of course, so she continued. "What's some of yours?" She didnt remember his either, but she wondered if he had his favorite pokemon, or even if it changes since they we're kids.

Amused by her choices, Sylvester could not help but adorn a smile. They were all great pokemon, though some hard to obtain. At best, it might be possible for him to capture an Espurr for Harley, though he would more-so hope that she could find her own interesting pokemon. It just seemed better off that way as a trainer, perhaps she would agree.
"Well, I don't have that Charizard I always dreamed about." Sylvester humored her, making a slight chuckle as he remembered his childhood fantasies of being a pokemon trainer. "But Blaziken will be just as good, if not better." That all depended on the situation of course. "I did manage to get myself the Slowpoke I wanted, and I wouldn't have it any other way right now. All the pokemon I have are very good to me."
Looking over to Harley and then Marley, it was then Sylvester realized just how similar his pokemon's name was to her own. He couldn't help but wear a momentary grin, acknowledging that the sun was starting to hang lower in the late afternoon sky...
"So what are your plans then? And do you have a place to stay yet?" Sylvester now wondered and also worried about her, hoping that Harley hadn't been sleeping outside, or in a tent...
