AND IT'S DARK ON A COLD DECEMBER,
Choo, choo, cubchoo.
It was a comforting sound, chant, murmur, as Jég trotted beside her as they walked at a sedate pace. Neither of them was really in a rush to get anywhere and even Reesa who’d wandered somewhere farther ahead where she was unable to see, had been rather relaxed. The weather was beautiful and warm but not too warm that the ice type was uncomfortable as he continued to murmur his name contently from beside her with every step he took. Once in a while she noticed her Trapinch scuttle into few to watch them and make sure they were still there before continuing to go ahead. Reesa much like Jég and Seliana herself was calm most of the time, rarely getting worked up. It was a relief to know that her pokemon weren’t too hyper active not that she really would have minded but it certainly made things easier in handling them.
Jég paused in his steps to examine a flower that was near them and Seliana chuckled softly at him, taking a few steps to look at the flower as well. After a moment she laid a hand on his head and murmured softly, “Alright big guy, let’s go.” He sniffed at the flower for one last second before turning on his paws and trotting forward again and she followed in a sedate pace again. Route 101 was usually a calm place to travel through, each time she’d visited it in the past as an Aqua member there hadn’t been many on its trails. Granted she remembered vaguely that earlier there had been quite a few when that festival in Petalburg was happening. However, that was over now and trainers of all sorts trickled through the route now in sedate paces.
Hence why she’d pretended to be a trainer, it made her presence easier to explain and hid any sign that he was associated with Aqua. Ever since what happened in Slateport she’d decided it was time to do a bit of investigating and clever undercover work. After all, she’d been raised from the very beginning to be manipulative towards people.
Sigma really kept screwing up with his plans. It was now definetely too late for him to make it to Oldale today, which meant that he was going to spend the night outside in Route 101. He really hadn't packed food for that and Sigma mos´t definetely is not going to head back to Littleroot anymore. The only choice now was to just collect some berries and fruits instead and get couple of meals from those.
The young man had already been collecting for a couple of hours and had been lucky in finding them, so he was going to be done soon. Just one more tree and he'll end his search, then he'd head towards Oldale until the sun starts to set and then start setting up a small camp.
Sigma climbed a tree of his choice that was bearing fruit and stood on a sturdy branch, picking up whatever berries he could reach to and seemed ripe enough to be picked, but stopped as he heard a pokemon's call.
He turned around to look and saw an adult woman with a Trapinch and a Cubchoo. A trainer walking with their pokemon wasn't anything out of place, but Sigma had his doubts about the woman. Something about her just didn't feel right to him and he wandered if he should just try to follow her in secret from the trees or get closer and just speak up to her. She or her pokemon had yet to notice Sigma, so the trees were a valid option. He in the decided to follow her by the trees and wait until he would be noticed before trying to make contact.
Honestly she wasn’t doing anything but walking, there was no reason for anyone to be suspicious of her or her pokemon. After all, she was dressed plainly in civilian clothes and pokeballs adorning her belt with a bag strapped to her leg, holding all her necessary items. However, later on down the line when she had a little bit more time to process everything she would suppose that there are always people that would be suspicious of other people…who’d be able to tell a liar from the rest. She just simply liked to believe that mixing some truth into things made her a very, very good liar and therefore very good at pretending she was a trainer even though she was part of aqua. However, if anyone ever really thought about it…Aqua members were trainers…just trainers that had banded together in a common cause and gave themselves a name. Nothing more, nothing less.
It was probably why she was so annoyed when she found out someone was following or spying on her…
Jég had caught on to it first, having paused and sniffed about when something caught his attention from above. His little ears twitching as they tried to catch some sound and it made Seliana look at him curiously wondering what was wrong with her pokemon. Reesa no doubt wondering what was keeping them this time scuttled over and let out a few clicks of her name to which her cubchoo answered. Seliana put a hand on her hip and watched her pokemon become hyper aware of things around them, knowing their human was under cover and couldn’t risk someone spying something suspicious. They wanted to protect Seliana, the human that was always kind to them and gave them nice things to eat and sleep on.
Seliana, getting impatient, was about to open her mouth and growl at them for loosing focus when Cubchoo let out a little cry, his nose to the air as he faced a tree. Reesa scuttled over to it and glared at it menacingly and Seliana realized someone much be in it. Her face twisted into a pretty scowl for a moment as she called out, “Whoever you are, I advise you to come down this instant or else I’m letting my pokemon do what they want to a pervert spying on a woman.”
Shit. She noticed him. Sigma had forgotten to count in the Cubchoo's sense of smell. Oh well. Not like it mattered. Sigma knew he would've most likely gotten caught at some point anyways. Though it was kind of a shame that it happened so quickly... wait. Did she say pervert? Why the hell would she say that? Just because someone's following you, that doesn't make them perverts. And Sigma definitely wouldn't be one himself.
Well, he better get down before things escalate into assault by a small teddy and a... whatever a Trapinch is. Sigma grabbed a fruit off of the tree and then jumped off the branch, landing on a crouching position to make the landing soft. He then stood up straight and took a bit out of the fruit he was holding, holding a calm face while doing so and one couldn't tell what he was thinking. He swallowed. "Sorry. Don't know what you're talking about. I've just been collecting some fruits and berries." Sigma lied convincingly and straight faced, looking sharply at the the woman, trying to see what she was thinking herself. Was she going to buy it? Was she going to send her pokemon even though Sigma had come down?
Both Sigma's pokemons were in their pokeballs and in Sigma's pockets, so if the pokemons of the woman would attack, he was ready to defend. Or he could just run. None of the pokemon are known for their speed.
Well, not like Sigma was really going to act before the woman would. Hopefully this wouldn't end up in a way that Sigma's gut feeling was for nothing.
272 Seliana Rydel real life was a bother. sorry that took some time
The feeling in her gut told her not to believe him for a second and not believe him she did, her eyes narrowed considerably on him. Her eyes slowly roving over his form and gauging how much of a threat he was and by her means…he wasn’t anywhere near a threat to her. She snorted softly and allowed her eyes to narrow the slightest bit before relaxing, deciding to discard what he said with a soft scoff. Fruits and berries her ass.
One of her wrists rested on her hip and her chin stuck out in a defiant way as she spoke evenly, “My pokemon don’t react so severely to supposedly harmless passerby’s that are simply ‘collecting fruit and berries’.” Her eyes flashed dangerously before she snapped her fingers and immediately both Reesa and Jég were returning to her side, her Cubchoo more reluctantly than Reesa. The ice bear obviously was not a fan of the man and she couldn’t blame him, something about him irked her severely.
She brushed a lock of hair behind her ear and towards her back so that it wouldn’t be in the way if something happened. “What are you doing out here anyway? Some kind of Ranger or something?” Her eyes flitted to see if she could see any sign of a stylus or pokeballs. He wasn’t familiar but then Rangers were many and she didn’t recognize all of them. However, it was obvious that something about him had set off her pokemon and that meant it set her off too because unlike people she was far more willing to trust her pokemon with her life. They at least were loyal.
