hello calamity! we're nearing the two months mark in a few weeks. how time flies! right now we have two things going on that need your participation. the first is an activity check! it is impotant that you check in so you don't lose your face claim. the second is the otm nomiations! we're doing it a bit different than last time. so please submit your nominations in. a vote thread will be up in the next few days. there will also be a formal event coming very soon, so keep your eye out for that. keep being cool!
we're currently about to host calamity's first contest in slatepor. trainers are flocking to the city to see, the city's been trying to get good pr since the gala, and it seems to be working! they're asking for both coordinators and volunteer judges to sign up.

A spark of frustration was lit under her chest, flickering every time she thought about how she’d managed to be delayed. Jég and Reesa were in their pokeballs this time, not wanting to be distracted by their relaxed natures even though she could probably do with them now. However, her irritation was likely only to make her snap at the pokemon and she didn’t want to do that, not when it wasn’t their fault. She huffed lightly at her thoughts, feeling herself calm just the slightest as she thought about the kid from a few days ago. She wondered if she’d ever been as annoying as that before deciding that no, no she’d never been so annoying or aggravating. She’d barely stopped herself from dropping her façade and showing the young man just who he was messing with but she supposed it was for the best that she hadn’t and had remained calm. She calmed now though as she rationalized the situation to herself, knowing that it hadn’t been a real set back and that she could still move on to the next towns with little to no problem.
She was taking this all a little too seriously and she needed to remember what the higher ups were always telling her about being too serious. Of course…they’d learn better once she reached their ranks and perhaps even cause a few to fall from their high horse. A slow satisfied smile curled her lips and a soft chuckle spilled from her lips as she thought of that. Yes perhaps she will put a few of those over confident superiors in their place when she finally reached the top…who knew. However, for the mean time she was doing her own undercover work and situating herself among the Trainers in order to get information.
Bright eyes flickered up once she gauged her mood to be better and sighed contently, she much more preferred her peace of mind. Without a hesitant thought she paused mid-step and unhooked her two pokeballs, summoning her two pokemon from within them. Her Cubchoo shook himself off as he looked around before letting out a little grunt in greeting while her Trapinch skittered up to her and let out a series of clicks. She crouched down and pet them both, smiling warmly at their greetings as she murmured softly. “Well time to finally hit the road…and not get stopped again.” Reesa let out another series of clicks in her name before rushing forward while Jég was content with walking sedately by Seliana. She chuckled again before walking forward. She was content with the progress they were making…at least until she stepped on a cracked piece of earth and let out a little cry as her ankle gave out beneath here.
For a moment the girl just looked at the ground beneath her in shock before shooting a little venomous look at her throbbing ankle. Perfect…just….Perfect.
Calvin snapped a quick photo of his Zorua with his phone. He wanted to get lots of pictures of his travels to remind him of how much fun he had (obviously he'd keep all that a secret though). He gave Flaws a warming smile and patted him on the head before starting to walk through route 101 again. Luckily, there wasn't a lot of grass on this route, so he was able to stick to the path.
A big gust of wind sent a flurry of leaves to whip around his ankles, Calvin wasn't fazed by it and just fastened his coat - Flaws on the other hand... Went rolling backwards and bumped into a rock.
Calvin couldn't help but laugh and ran over to check on him, "You alright little buddy? Here lemme help ya'."
Calvin scooped him up and wrapped the trickster fox pokemon in his arms. Flaws gave him a quick lick on the cheek and then started looking around, taking in his surroundings. It wasn't long before Calvin stumbled across something (obviously). There was a woman on the path a few meters in front him. She had two pokemon next to her, a trapinch and some kind of white bear pokemon.
It seemed as if she had tripped and hurt her ankle... Calvin couldn't care less. Without even looking at her or asking if she was alright, he walked straight passed her. Flaws on the other hand had other ideas. He jumped out his arms and delicately landed on the floor. Before Calvin could react and put him in his pokeball, flaws was already standing next to the young woman. Flaws was staring at her intently, inspecting her and trying to find out what was wrong.
"For crying out loud, dont get involved with things that don't concern you." sighed Calvin as he strolled over to the woman. Flaws looked at Calvin as if to get him to help her, reluctantly, Calvin held out his hand to help her up, "You a'ight?"
Seliana wasn’t expecting any help from anyone let alone want it. She’d never needed help when she was in Aqua and in fact had been left to her own devices as well as consequences when she was there. If she hurt herself or was attacked by a pokemon, tough on her she had to deal with it without help. She supposed it came with the territory of having been there since she was young. They thought she owed them for them taking her in and she accepted that as well as accepted she had to do for herself. It wasn’t too different from when she was with her parents anyway…at least from what she could remember. She’d been bred to deal with things on her own and manipulate people to get what she wanted but to never get caught. Which was why when the young man passed her by she merely spared him a glance before trying to calm her concerned pokemon. Reesa letting out clicks rapidly as it circled her hurt ankle but Jég merely hovered over it, letting out little blasts of Powdered Snow in order to help the throbbing.
She murmured encouragingly until she heard Reesa let out a noise she’d only heard her make once before. Her gaze shot up and she blinked when she noticed there was a Zorua sitting right in front of her staring rather intently. Jég let out a warning grunt to the pokemon even though he still concentrated on soothing the throbbing with his ice move. Her eyes shot up once more when the voice of a young man met her ears and she saw it was the one that had passed her by not seconds before. She stiffened slightly at his words before his attention seemed to shift to her and it took a huge amount of effort not to narrow her eyes at him. Instead her face smoothed into a rather embarrassed smile as he murmured, “Well…kind of. I managed to twist my leg a bit is all.”
Cub…cubchoo, choo
The woman huffed softly and shot her ice bear a look as she murmured, “Yes, yes okay so more than a bit. Cheeky.” The pokemon grunted a low chuckle before continuing what he was doing while Reesa pressed close to Seliana in comfort and protection, ready to lash out if necessary. “Um…is the Zorua yours?” Her gaze fell back to the fox-like pokemon and she could feel her lips twitching slightly at how cute it was…they were an interesting pokemon that was certain.
He stared down at his Zorua, giving him an annoyed look before look back at the girl with a bored expression, "Yeah... This is my Zorua, his name is Flaws. Speaking of names, mines Calvin, not that it matters anyway, but I'd rather be called by my name than 'boy' or 'oi'."
He looked the girl up and down with an incredibly judgemental look on his face. He ran his fingers through his thick brown hair, sweeping it to one side. He looked at the two pokemon standing next to her, the icy one seemed to be using an ability of sorts to numb the pain on her ankle, while the other one was... Playing with Flaws?!
Flaws and the trapinch were chasing each other round in circles, Zorua was doing one of those cheeky little laughs that only a few pokemon could do. Trapinch was rather slow, opening and closing his mouth as he tried to playfully nip at Flaws. His Zorua was fast though, jumping on the large orange head and jumping off again. Flaws then stopped and gave the trapinch a menacing grin before flashing a bright purple and changing form using his ability 'illusion'. Flaws had formed himself into the trapinch, rather confusing the poor thing.
"Flaws, that's enough." Calvin picked up the 'trapinch' and he quickly went back to his original form, Flaws giggled and licked Calvin's face. "I forgot to ask, what's your name?"
While Calvin waited for a response, he pulled out a cigarette and lit it with a lighter - designed to look like a houndoom. He took a draw and blew out the smoke to his left, making sure not to get it in the woman's face.
This time Seliana didn’t stop the instinctive reaction to his words, giving him an arched look as her eyebrow rose at his words. Boy…and Oi? Who had he met along the way that he’d gotten these impressions?? She withheld a soft huff and instead spoke up easily, “Well then…pleased to make your acquaintance Calvin.” Or not but he didn’t need to know that. All he needed to see was that she was a woman that managed to twist her ankle and he happened across her thanks to his pokemon. At that thought her eyes trailed down to examine it again…only to notice that it wasn’t by them anymore. Infact Reesa wasn’t by them anymore either and at her Cubchoo’s grunt her eyes were brought up to the two pokemon playing together. She let out a soft exasperated sigh, her eyes briefly looking skyward in the classical ‘why me’ expression. Jég had been with her for ages, he already knew how she worked but Reesa was only recently obtained thanks to old man Birch.
The woman watched as the younger male scooped up his illusion playing Zorua and her eyes landed on the still confused Trapinch. She hadn’t even noticed Reesa when she stepped away from her side, that had been odd…then again a lot of her attention was on her ankle and the young man, Calvin, in front of her. “Reesa, come.” At her firm tone, the female trapinch blinked and skittered over to her trainer as she let out a series of content clicks. Seliana let out a soft huff and let her hand run over the trapinch’s head before looking back towards the other male. “Well he’s rather friendly.” There was a slight note of bemusement in her tone as she said those words, categorizing this pokemon in her head in case she was ever sent out to steal pokemon again.
Jég grunted softly and she noticed he’d finally stopped...and she felt decidedly better. She ran a hand through her ice bears fur in silent thanks before slowly rising to her feet, gingerly testing her ankle before nodding her head in satisfaction. She brushed her brown hair over her shoulder and brushed off her clothing with a soft exasperated sigh just as the young man spoke again. She blinked for a moment, caught off guard by his question before giving him a considering gaze and then smiling in amusement. “I suppose I didn’t give my name when I should have.” Giving her head a little nod in greeting she chirped breezily, “The name’s Seliana. I’d rather not be called ‘Woman’ or ‘you’.”
Calvin was feeling so fed up, in all fairness, he couldn't care less about the woman's name or anything to do with her. In fact, he wouldn't mind battling her - he'd just have to wait and see. Calvin grimaced at the remark of his zorua being 'rather friendly', "Unfortunately yes, he is a bit friendly." Calvin emphasized that sentence for Flaws to hear, his pokemon looked down with a sad face, burrowing his head underneath his arm.
He took his final draw before chucking what was left of the cigarette on the floor, stomping his foot on it and putting it out. The smell of smoke lingered in the air between them, the wind was still sending gusts down the route, along with falling leaves. The woman told him her name and he corner of his mouth curved slightly, making a half smile. "Shame, 'You' sounds like a brilliant name,"
That comment even shocked Calvin a little bit, did he just make a joke?! He rolled his eyes and licked his lower lip. With a tilt of his head, he narrowed his eyes and stared right at Seliana, "Say, being as were two trainers on the road, how about me and you have little 1 on 1?"
Flaws yipped excitedly when he heard he could have a chance to fight, he wriggled around and jumped on the floor, standing next to Calvin. Calvin now had an evil grin on his face, "Now, I'll leave it up to you, we can either do a 1v1 or a 2v1... I mean, if you do need TWO pokemon just to defeat my ONE pokemon, I won't judge." he said sarcastically, now waiting for a response. in all honesty, he didnt want to fight both pokemon, only the one, which is why he twisted the words to make out that Seliana would be weak if she chose two...
The boy’s attitude grated on her nerves, really what was it with the youth of today and needing to be so damn blunt and rude. She was tempted to act rashly and lash out but she held her temper in check instead giving the young man a mildly amused look as she watched him interact with his pokemon and put out his cigarette. Her nose vaguely crinkling that someone so young, because she could tell her was young, was already smoking cigarettes. It was truly a shame but what did she care? It wasn’t her problem what he did with his body and for all she cared he could up and croak tomorrow. Whatever made things easier on her was better…especially when he spoke up about ‘You’ and her eyebrow arched in mild humor again. “Shame…I thought ‘Boy’ was just a good name.” She smiled sweetly at him not finding his joke humorous in the least but playing along and getting her own little jab in there as well as she spoke. [break][break] When Calvin spoke again it was to challenge her cause there was no other way to understand the suggestion. She gave him a thoughtful expression and then looked down at his pokemon as it seemed just as excited to battle though Calvin didn’t seem excited exactly. “I suppose there is that option open to us.” Her voice was light and airy, neither agreeing nor disagreeing to having a pokemon battle as she tried to understand his angle. [break][break] Then she heard the catch when he discreetly tried to get her to use one pokemon by playing to her supposed ego. What men tended to forget was that unlike them, women didn’t feel the need to show off and defend their ego. She gave the young man a blatantly amused look and looked down are her two pokemon. Both stepped forward towards the Zorua as though they would both battle him and she wished she could say aloud that she was with Aqua she didn’t believe in fairness and fear. She won however she felt like she needed to and if she wanted to use two pokemon she would. However, after a moment of letting him think she was going to use both, she held up a hand and both pokemon stopped. “Alright enough playing you two. Reesa, let’s go.” [break][break] The female trapinch let out a sharp click and scuttled forward, slamming its large mouth open and closed a few times before settling down. Nodding her head in satisfaction Seliana looked up and smiled sweetly, “I’ll let you have the handicap of attacking first.” [break][break]
Calvin scoffed, "Call it what you will, It really doesn't matter."
He walked back a bit, making distance between the two of them. Zorua was rather excited, jumping around and playfully nipping at Calvin's heels. Calvin bent down and patted him on the head, whispering, "Ok now boy, Be careful, she looks tough. Just make sure you're quick and precise and we should have no problem."
Zorua giggled menacingly and then jumped forwards, a few feet away from Calvin, glaring at the Trapinch. He giggled menacingly and gave the trainer and pokemon an unnerving grin.
Both the pokemon were staring at each other, getting ready to react to either attack. Calvin sent his first command, "Flaws! Dart around and use leer!"
HIs pokemon did exactly what he had in mind, getting high up in the sky and casting a terrifying gaze at the opponent, no doubt that would rattle his bones.
Flaws was super duper excited! He shifted his weight from side to side with excitement, hopping around with anticipation. Now was his time to shine! Upon hearing Calvin's commands, Flaws quickly took off - launching himself with such speed he kicked up dust behind him. He zipped from side to side, like a zig zag before jumping into the air. While he was in the air, he looked down at the Trapinch and used leer, his eyes flashing yellow and his teeth bared. He then landed softly on the ground a few meters behind the trapinch, waiting for his next move.
Seliana was still very conscious of her leg even as she bantered with the young man, could feel her Cubchoo’s eyes on her as they got down to business. This would have to be quick and sweet, no mercy and no prolonging any suffering like she sometimes would have. With that decision on mind her eyes fell on the Trapinch a slight ways from her, immediately becoming more serious as she spoke up to her pokemon. “Reesa, this is our first fight together. Hit ‘em hard.” The female let out a few clicks of agreement, large jaws opening and closing in fervor before settling once more as they both listened to the male give out orders to his pokemon. Her eyebrow arched at his command and a vaguely amused expression crossed her face. Leer? Interesting start to this battle and from the way Jég grunted, he agreed. However, she didn’t have much time to taunt the young man because she immediately noticed Reesa beginning to back away from the leering pokemon and she let out a sharp irritated breath. [break][break] “Reesa…” Her warning tone was enough to snap the pokemon out of it, Reesa shaking her head slightly and letting out an irritated noise. Nodding her head in satisfaction, Seliana called out her own commands. “Okay, let’s get them back for that. Use Bug Bite and follow it up with a simple Bite.” The female trapinch let out an agreeing click before scuttling forward, gaze set on the male Zorua in front of her. She didn’t hesitate to open her maw, aiming straight for anywhere damaging on the small fox-like pokemon with a gleam in her eyes and revenge in her heart. She couldn’t waver, not when Seliana was depending on her and not when Jég was watching. Without wasting another moment, she opened her jaws again and this time revealed the sharp teeth just before slamming her mouth down as she aimed once more the the Zorua. [break][break]
"Zorua! Look out!" Calvin yelled as the trapinch came in to attack. Luckily, Flaws dodged the bug bite. But he didnt dodge the next attack coming up. The jaws slammed down on him, biting him harshly. Flaws let out a cry of pain which only lasted a few seconds before bare his teeth. "Use leer and follow it up with scratch!" Ordered Calvin, still very relaxed with the situation.
"ZORU-!" He let out a cry of pain as the sharp orange jaws dug into him, he looked to Calvin for support, but all he got were orders and a casual face - maybe he should be more relaxed about it like his owner? While in close range, he used leer along with a scratch across the trapinchs large head. After hiting or not hitting him, he would jump backwards and make some distance between them.
Then zorua had an idea... without being asked, he used his ability illusion to morph into another pokemon, well, not a pokemon exactly, more like the pokemons owner. Standing in front of trapinch now was another Seliana (with a little fluffy tail). Surely this would worry the trapinch, would she really attack her own 'owner'?! Flaws couldnt help but laugh at his devious thoughts.
Flaws dodged bug bite! flaws was hit by bite! it wasn't very effective.... flaws used leer! Flaws used scratch! Dodges 1/2

SThis was turning out beautifully, the first dodge aside and Seliana had to fight to keep the satisfied smirk off her face. It wouldn’t do for a trainer that was supposedly just beginning to have such a look on their face. She watched as Reesa’s jaws caught the fox and she nearly purred in delight at the cry it emitted, she wouldn’t get cocky though. She knew all too well battles could change with the flick of a switch so she had to keep a cool head and a cool she did have even as the Zorua struck out against her Trapinch, scratching at it after another leer. Reesa let out an agitated click as she was forced to let go of the pokemon, scuttling a little away from it just as it suddenly transformed and everything ceased for a second. Everyone on her side, including Seliana herself, froze as the Zorua took her form. A deep noise similar to a growl emitted from the ice bear beside her and she felt the echoing anger in herself. [break][break] Reesa was slightly baffled at how her mistress ended up in front of her though and she looked at the transformed Zorua for a moment. “Reesa, enough.” The trapinch blinked at the sharp words that came from behind her and turned her head enough to see her human trainer and let out a small sound of surprise before turning back to the illusion. Reesa could feel a flare of irritation inside her tiny body and let out a soft click of anger. How dare this pokemon take the form of her trainer and try to use it against her?! [break][break] Seliana, tired of playing games, decided it was time to up the ante a bit. Taking a slight step forward she gave the orders the female trapinch was looking for. “Go in with a Faint Attack and then follow up with another Bug Bite!” Her words were firm and last with a coldness that just barely spoke of her anger, her ankle was starting to throb again and it made her mood even testier. If this fox wanted to try her on for size then it was going to get a taste of the consequences that came with taking her form and attempting to confuse her pokemon. She was an aqua member and that meant no mercy. Reesa let out a satisfied noise and shot forward, every thought focused on following out her trainer’s orders. [break][break]
Calvin narrowed his eyes as he watched the two pokemon fight. He was slightly puzzled, Flaws had hit the trapinch, even after two successful leers, the scratch attack didn't seem to harm it very much. Then his face of confusion turned into a face of shock, his pokemon had turned into his opponent! It was a spitting image of her, except with a tail... He noticed the venom in the girls voice when she spoke, it had obviously aggravated her, brilliant. Although it annoyed her, the trapinch didnt seem to mind, she smacked straight into flaws with faint attack and went for a bug bite. When the faint attack hit, Zorua used the force of the push to propel himself back and dodge the bug bite. His pokemon flashed purple and went back to its original form. He smirked and waved his hand, "Flaws, turn it up a notch."
Flaws grinned and leaped at trapinch, knowing its defence would be lowered, he used two scratch attacks and swiped forwards, aiming for two consecutive swipes across the ground types face. After those two leer moves, these scratch attack should do a rather good amount of damage if it hits.
Seli watched the battle unfold and felt her eyes narrow, head tilting just the slightest as she debated the next moves she needed to carry out. She let out a low sharp sound when the creature dodged her Bug Bite for the second time and decided it was time to up the ante a bit. Why not make him sweat a little…and of course make this fun? For her. Her gaze fell on Reesa who was breathing slightly heavier than earlier, it was easy to see she was becoming tired and her eyes narrowed. Reesa was new to her, there was only so much she’d be able to handle and she snorted softly, that’d be dealt with at a later time. For now she just needed her Trapinch to win this battle and then they could focus on what they needed to learn from it…and what Reesa’s weaknesses really were. [break][break] The woman was yanked rudely back to the battle when she noticed the Zorua going back in for another scratch and her eyes narrowed dangerously. “Reesa, get out of the way.” Her command was sharp and firm, making sure there’d be no mistake in what she wanted and the Trapinch obeyed. Lunging out of the way of the scratch but unfortunately missing the next one that came and earning hard sharp lines of red down her muzzle. Seliana clucked her tongue impatiently but went straight on, giving a new set of orders. “Double dose of Bug Bite, Reesa. Don’t miss this time.” [break][break] The female trapinch let out a few clicks of understanding before rushing forward, sizeable jaws seemingly champing at the bit as she went straight for the Zorua. A small smile curled the woman’s features as her gaze fell lightly on the young man across from her, “I’m impressed. You’re better at this than I thought you’d be.” Not that it would matter anyway, she was an Aqua member…and Aqua members didn’t play fair…ever. She’d wait…let him think he was close to winning and then when the moment came…well she’d take that away from him. [break][break]
He knew. He knew this was going to end up badly, but he kept going. Him and his Zorua kept going... The two were filled with determination, they didn't care if they won or lost, just as long as they got a chance to battle. Calvin was so proud of how his Zorua battled, he was so delicate with how he treads, but when it came to the attack, it was like a different pokemon - filled with so much hatred and strength.
The trapinch was slowly starting to show signs of damage, if he could keep this up, hopefully he'd be able to win... Hopefully. The enemy pokemon came flying into Zorua with such speed it shocked Calvin. Two powerful bug bites had crunched down onto Flaws, clearly hurting him very much so. Calvin's breath shook as he saw the pain in Flaws' face, he was hurting yet he made no sound.
"Now Flaws! Get her while she's close!" ordered Calvin, shouting loudly...
Flaws wriggled around and used the close range to his advantage, two quick scratches across the face should do it!
Flaws had been hurt severely by the bug bites, but not enough to get him out yet. With a sudden push and a twist, he quickly went to scratch the trapinch. He did it with such determination and aim that he was certain it would hit, hopefully it would even make Calvin a bit happy.
Flaws was hit by Bug Bite x2! Flaws used Scratch x2!
Well weren’t we all full of surprises? The corner of her lip twitched in amusement as she heard the young man call out order’s to his Zorua, a soft snort making itself known. Yes please do come at her with a scratch again, it would simply give her the opening she needed and she would have them right where she wanted them. A slow smirk curled her lips and she glanced down at her Cubchoo when the pokemon hovered over her ankle, she hadn’t noticed that she’d started leaning off of it. She was going to look ridiculous hobbling to Oldale unless her little ice bear managed to numb it again. She barely even really paid attention to the battle going on when she instinctively ordered her Trapinch around. “Dodge it, Reesa. Then we’re going to have a little game of repeat.” [break][break] The Trapinch let out a gleeful little series of clicks as she took the first scratch to the face, gritting her jaw as the pain flared before scuttling out of the way of the second. Massive teeth flashed as she opened her jaw before skittering forward, determination glinting in her eyes as she went straight for the Zorua with gleeful excitement. Biting, champing, and chomping. That was all her mind was set on as she got another Bug Bite ready just for the Zorua, her mind flashing towards the red lines that would no doubt be marring her and she let out a noise of displeasure for the scratches she’d taken. Unhesitant, the Trapinch leaned back and attacked again as she lunged forward for another damaging Bug Bite. [break][break]
