He held the injured Zorua in his arms, watching it let out shallow breathes as it inhaled and exhaled - the poor thing was in pain. Where was the nearest place that could help?! Calvin paused for a while... The lab! He hurried down to the pokemon lab where proffesor birch spent a lot of his time. Calvin often had to make trips there to drop off medicines that his Mum made. He ran inside, the Zorua shaking in his arms from the poison. Everything was very white and clean, incredibly bright - Calvin hated it, he prefered more dark gloomy places where monters lurked in the shadows.
"Hello?! Anybody here? Please, I need help!" Calvin shouted, hoping that someone would be here.
A figure appeared at the other side of the lab, thank goodness! Professor Birch! Calvin ran over to him, "Please! This pokemon! I think it's poisoned."
The professor dashed into the lobby of his laboratory, breathing heavily and maybe sweating a little (or a lot). At the cry for help, he immediately dropped everything he was doing to take care of the person or pokemon in need — and a good thing, too.
He didn't bother to introduce himself before waving the trainer and his injured pokemon over to his healing machine, still breathing harder than was probably normal for such a short distance he ran. He eyed the Zorua worriedly, looking between it and its trainer with furrowed eyebrows.
"Can I see them?" He asked quietly, holding his arms out to cradle the Zorua and carefully place it into the healing machine. "I'm the professor, I know what I'm doing, I promise."

OUR FLAWS LAY HAND IN HAND
Calvin didn't even have to think when the Professor held out his arms, he gently placed the Zorua in his arms, carefully unwrapping it from his coat. It wasn't even his pokemon after all, he had simply befriended it while out in the forest. He stood there nervously while Zorua was placed into a healing machine. Calvin felt so guilty, was it his fault the Zorua was poisoned?
"P- Professor, the pokemon, I think it's poisoned. There was a cacnea and-" Calvin couldn't get the words out. The lump in his throat made it difficult to speak. All he could do was watch and hope the pokemon got better...
Birch began to feel calmer as he gently placed the Zorua into his healing machine. Wiping his brow with the sleeve of his lab coat, the professor heaved out a swift sigh. "Whew, that was a close one!"
He looked to the disheveled trainer, who looked about as worried as Birch would expect — to the point of exhaustion. The hefty professor lightly patted him on the back, ushering a reassuring smile and a small chortle to hopefully make him feel better. "Don't worry, I've got it handled. Accidents happen — and so do injuries. But you did the right thing, coming here! Your Zorua will be perfectly fine." He nodded as he motioned to the pokemon, who was already breathing more steady in his healing machine and twitching less as the poison evaporated from its system.
Calvin stood there watching the small pokemon. His little chest rising with each breath, so tiny yet so strong. Calvin could feel his heart thumping with anticipation, he wanted to see the Zorua up and healthy. He looked back at Professor Birch, "Well, the thing is, this isn't my pokemon. We met each other in Route 101..."
Calvin walked over to the Zorua and placed his hand on the machine, "Don't worry bud, you'll be OK."
He knelt down to get a better look at the pokemon, a small fluffy creature that resembled a dark fox. He had gorgeous patches of deep red all over him, which stood out wonderfully against his grey and black coat.
OOC: Can Prof Birch give Calvin pokeballs, pokedex etc (and a spare pokeball to capture the Zorua) ^.^
"Oh, is it not?" The professor looked between the young man and the pokemon now, perplexed and oddly impressed. Clearly, he already cared a lot about this Zorua... more than just a passerby.
A small smile forming on his face and a chortle rising from his belly, Birch nodded to himself and mumbled, "I wonder..." while scratching his chin. He gave one more glance at the Zorua, who was now stabilized and recovering quickly, before turning back to the boy with a bright grin. "Hey, I'll be back in a second, okay? The Zorua is fine, I just gotta get some things real quick."
When the professor returned from the back portion of the lab, he had both of his hands full with small technology. Placing the items on a table beside the healing machine where the Zorua almost completely healed inside (had had taken a few minutes to actually find everything he was looking for), Birch looked at the boy and chuckled. "Did you ever want to be a pokemon trainer, son?"
After waiting for his answer, Birch motioned to the items on the table — six pokeballs and a small, square-ish device. "As I'm sure you've heard, I've been recruiting new trainers as of late to help me with some research around Hoenn.... Seeing as you're so attached to this Zorua and clearly care about pokemon in general, I think you fit the bill pretty nicely. So, what do you say?"
