He's run away from home, again. He can't help it, really, he can't -- his mama is always so busy making clothes for and looking after all of his siblings, there's just no time for him! It's not her fault, either, but he's bitter and restless all the same. There's more to life, isn't there? That's what he's sure of, anyway, and he repeats it to himself in rhythm as he climbs up the trunk of a tall oak. He won't know where he's going if he doesn't know his destination, will he? He just hopes he won't slip and fall before he reaches the top.

I WILL GRAB MY FREEDOM WITH MY OWN HANDS.
The trek to Oldale Town wasn't as bad as he thought it would be. While he didn't really have much business there, he had managed to get in some rest before starting out again. He was determined to get to the next town, it'd prove for a better break than the small town he just past would. If he was going to make this treck around the region, he was going to make it worth it.
Sam stopped and leaned against a tree, brushing a hand through his hair and looking around. He was surprised he hadn't run into anything yet.. Or well, he would be thinking that if his eyes hadn't caught the sewaddle desperately trying to make its way up the tree. The look of determination on said sewaddle's face caught his attention and he stood up firmly, turning around to face the tree with a hand on his hip. "Hey little guy! Where are you heading?" He asked, while he didn't know if it would be hostile or not - it wasn't of his concern right now.
"Is something wrong? Are you trying to get away from something?" He smiled, but his tone was soft and sympathetic. He knew some pokemon could get skiddish around trainers; after all he did try to foster several as a kid. He didn't want to scare it, so he didn't reach out to it encase, instead he leaned forward towards the trunk a bit; staring at them and watching them carefully.
Uwahh! In his focus, he doesn't notice the human approach behind him until he speaks. He squeaks in surprise and tumbles back down the tree to the soft grass below -- just as well, he'd only managed to climb a few feet beforehand. Still, he's left completely startled. As the Sewaddle scrambles back to his feet, he doesn't leave time for guesswork. Best do what his mama always said and attack in his own self-defense!
The brunette jumped back in alarm as the Sewaddle fell and spat a stringshot at him, he couldn't say he wasn't prepared for it, he doubt stringshot would do any damage, but being attacked by a pokemon still triggered a flight or fight instinct he had to surpress. And in reaction to the stringshot, he pulled out a pokeball and pressed the button on it to open it, sending a flash of red light out.
In a burst of light, Litwick came out and blocked the Stringshot from hitting her owner. A startled cry came from her as she tried to shake it off, enlarging the spiritual flame to burn enough off of herself to move. "Ah, sorry about that Wisp. I should have warned you." He said and moved off to the side, not wanting to be in range of the Litwick's flame. It had a habit of draining him, and despite him being connected to the Pokemon; he knew it was passively draining his energy for itself.
"Aww man, of course I would startle it. I'm sorry Sewaddle, I honestly don't want to hurt you." He flinched at the idea of having to hurt it. His Litwick was a fire type, this thing was four times weak to it. If he fried it, oh god that would have horrible outcomes. "I um, erm... Go easy on them, please Wisp?" The Litwick folded her "arms" over herself and looked to be judging the Sewaddle, probably aggravated by being hit with Stringshot. "I, I- " Sam sighed and grew determination on his face, but his eyes looked hurt.
"Just hit it with ember, it'll probably 1-shot it. I'll get them healed when we get back." The teen rubbed his eyes as the pokemon's eyes glinted mischievously, spiritual flame glowing brightly as it spit blue embers at the Sewaddle.
Wisp was hit by Stringshot! Speed was lowered! WISP used Ember!
Sewaddle gets stuck on the string shot! It tries to pull and pull, but it can't move! He cries in frustration. It's even worse when an ember burns him up. The painful sensation makes him black out.
sewaddle fainted! capture? litwick gains one level! there will be no more modding. you may continue posting.
A loud sigh came from him, his Litwick dancing around triumphantly and floating up to hover around his head, expecting some sort of praise. She huffed in anger as Sam pushed her aside instead, letting out a noise in protest, Her trainer proceeded to ignore her though and scurry to search for the Sewaddle, putting his bag down and ripping a part of cloth off to blanket around the small worm pokemon.
"You'll be alright." He spoke and pulled out a pokeball, pushing a button and having it go inside while wrapped in the makeshift blanket to treat his burn. Because of the Sewaddle's fainted state, it stayed in the ball until it clicked shut. Once all was secure, Sam put the pokeball back on his belt buckle, picking up his backpack and flinging it over one shoulder.
He was greeted with a very angry Litwick. "Oh, relax, you're still the baby. Just not the only baby." Sam chuckled tiredly as the living candle made a growl and turned away from him childishly, obviously not liking the idea. "Get over yourself already Wisp, we're heading back to Odale before the burn damage becomes critical, whether you like it or not." The young male's voice became more stern and strict, resulting in the pokemon very reluctantly following suit.
