"Oi! What're you doin' with my Pidgey!" Marcus cried, and he stuck a bitter, accusatory finger towards the furious bird.
However, seeing Cael lob his Pokeball towards the Spearow, Marcus couldn't help but misinterpret the man's selfish conduct as something more, something kind. Gasping, almost too dramatically, a smile flew upon his face.
"Stopping the Spearow," he said, "for my sake!? I was wrong about you! You're a sweetheart, yeah? Teheheh!"
Marcus' Aipom swiftly returned to Marcus' place, having seen Lana's previous, potent tackle. With a small snicker, the Aipom watched alongside Marcus, as the ball arched in the air.

he was close. he was so very close to freedom. a pity he would never reach it. the skies were blue. the foliage was a rich shade of green. in a moment, he would be free. and then he would be able to free his mate and then -
"spear!"
the capsule knocked him out of the air. it also caused pidgey's capsule to fall to the earth. sucked into the device with a terrible screech, he was absorbed into its contents. it fell to rest beside pidgey's, wriggling slightly before going still.
the capsule that had been clutched in the male's claws returned to the earth, bouncing and rolling upon the grasses before eventually lying still. it eventually was joined by spearow's pokeball. at least they would be together once more before parting ways.
It was oh-so satisfying to see the pokeball connect with the spearow. Even as the pokeball's wiggling teased him, Cael felt a sense of accomplishment, and would scoop the pokeball up swiftly once it had clicked with succession. "Teach you to mess with me," the redhead snarled to the ball clenched in his hand.
The spearow was his now, and Marcus had caught himself the pidgey. It was quite the fitting pair for the trainer and breeder, but unnoticed by Cael. "Okay, Lana, you too," he then said to the castform. "Relax in your pokeball until we get into the next town... good job."
Those last two words were enough to make the castform squeal with delight. When Cael had reached for her pokeball, she eagerly let the red stream of energy zap her back inside the capsule. It may have been a rough start, but her trainer couldn't possibly hate her.
With a new addition to his team and a soon-to-hatch egg, Cael was feeling hopeful of the future. "Congrats," he said back to Marcus, turning his head to look back at the boy briefly. "On your new pidgey." He then turned back to stare straight ahead, feet moving along. "Now hurry your ass up before I leave you behind."
There was something to be said about this new... companionship. Splitting up with Marcus didn't seem right. They were heading in the same direction anyways, so what would be the point of goodbyes? Besides, Lana would have a fit if she found out Cael had left Marcus hanging around.

Crisis averted, Marcus fetched the ball that now housed his new companion. His Aipom harbored no jealousy. Instead, a proud snicker, like a bolt of electricity crackled across its perpetually smiling face.
Marcus rubbed his arm before rolling it in its socket. He stretched with a satisfied meow, and turning to face Cael with an exuberance that had bloomed from inside his chest like a runner's high, he grinned.
"Congrats to you too," Marcus said, and with a whistle he followed the red-head's steps, "like Lana would let you."
Attaching the captured pidgey to his pokeball belt, Marcus ventured onward, butting heads with Cael all along the way.
(ooc - thank you so much!! It was fun! And the birds were so cute lol)
