[attr="class","axscroll"]Route 101 was feeling like a long ass route to Axel. He wasn't sure how long it had been since he left Littleroot, but it felt like hours. Although, in reality, it was probably just half an hour or fourtyfive minutes. That didn't stop Axel from complaining to himself though. His hands were shoved in his pockets and he was kicking a rock forward with each step. So far, his trip down 101 had been somewhat uneventful. The Chespin was still in her Pokeball, probably sleeping at this point. Axel couldn't blame Holly. Their journey together had been boring so far, and he didn't really get a chance to bond with the Pokemon right off the bat.
"Gah, I need to get to the next town already!" Axel exclaimed out loud, running his hand through his hair in frustration. He really needed to learn some patience, didn't he?

Leave it to Chandra to forget something at her house, stalling their trip yet again. Thankfully, Penelope didn't mind all that much, playing with her new best friend would be the perfect thing to do while awaiting her friend to come back. It was as if the pokemon didn't even have a pokeball, as she continuously leaned over, grasping at the grass blades and the little flowers and picking them.
How adorable.
Head flicking up, she saw the guy come forward, agitation surging through his veins and what looked like stress pounding through his limbs. Maybe he needed a break. Or maybe he was looking for a battle. She couldn't hear the words he had said, only the tone in which they were thrown from his mouth.
Someone was aaaangry.
"Hello?" She leaned forward, tapping his shoulder and giving him a small smile, "My name is Penelope, and this is my pokemon." Waving to her feet momentarily, her eyes never left his, "Would you like to battle? Im sure it might help you...relax a bit. She gave him a genuine smile awaiting his response. There was nothing wrong with another battle.
[attr="class","axscroll"]Startled, Axel jumped in place and his head shot upward. His hands instantly clutched his bag out of instinct. Once he felt the egg inside, Axel tightened his grip. Damn, he had forgotten about that egg. Although he had no idea what Pokemon it was, Axel was excited to see it hatch eventually.
He glanced to Penelope and down to her Pokemon. Blinking, a grin soon formed on Axel's face and he relaxed his stance. "A battle, huh?" Axel asked, pushing his bag back behind his back. "Now that's a way to relax." Penelope's Pokemon was yellow, which probably meant it was electric, right? So if he was right then Holly had an advantage. Right? Maybe. He was still learning, don't quote him.
"Name's Axel, nice to meet you." Axel said introducing himself as he picked off Holly's Pokeball from his belt. "I'll let you take the first move since you had the courage to challenge me." There he went again, getting a little too confident before the battle even began. One of these days, he was sure to regret it. However, he was feeling a little lucky today. He tossed the Pokeball forward and took a few steps back, giving Penelope and her Pichu some room. In a flash of light, the Chespin stood before Axel. She raised her paws and jumped high into the air, bouncing on her heels and waiting for the Pichu to make a move.

Well at least he wasn't too aggressive up close. The mood seemed to loosen up a bit at the sound of a battle and Penelope couldn't help but let the grin on her face spread out and up her lips. "Of course! Watching your pokemon grow and learn has to be some sort of relaxation." At least, as long as your baby didn't get the crap beaten out of him. Now that would really suck, and probably not be relaxing at all.
"Well it is very nice to meet you Axel." Another broad smile twisted across her features as she stepped back. He was willing to give her the first move, and she would take advantage of it. Peering down at Eclairage, she smiled at the Pichu. "Okay girl, just like we practiced okay, I know you can do it. The creature threw her arms in the air letting out a loud and happy squeal, before turning and taking stance in front of Penelope.
Just like we practiced. Just like we practiced.
"Charm!" Pichu stumbled forward and gazed at the creature in front of her, smiling and waiving, attempting to make the chespin less worried and of its guard. Penelope grinned, and threw her hand forward, "Now, use tail whip! Pichu twisted it's body again, waggling its hips at the grass type, smiling.
[attr="class","axscroll"]Penelope understood Axel's thought process it seemed. Battling was a way of relaxing for Trainers, most of the time anyway. He was sure that in the future he'd be stressed out in a battle or two, but right now Axel had been enjoying himself in each and every battle so far. Even if he had only one battle before hand, and that was against a wild Pokemon... eh, details, details. No one needed to know those but him.
Axel had to pause his thoughts and stare. This girl didn't waste any time, did she? She and her Pokemon were eager (maybe a little too eager) to take the first move and get going. "You got this, Holly. Don't let'em intimidate you." Axel encouraged, keeping his bag hanging in front of him. He had to make sure not to move around too much or too roughly, he still had an egg inside. Maybe if he kept it warm enough it'd hatch by the time Axel got over to Oldale.
The Pichu brought Holly's guard down. She dropped her arms and bit her lip. That Pichu was too cute, how could she hurt it too much? And that Tail Whip, that was too cute. "Hey, Holly! Snap out of it! Get in there and use Vine Whip!" Axel called out. She was already too distracted by two simple moves. That wasn't a good sign. The Chespin shook her head and huffed, running forward with her arms outstretched. Vines snapped out of her wrists and she flailed her arms as she closed in, trying to hit the Pichu as hard as she could.

One miss step in a battle could mean that your world would come tumbling to the ground around you, and when your pokemon was as new as Eclairage was, there was a better chance of feinting at other trainers grasps or other wilds. And, of course, there was nothing wrong with a little loss, but the squeals of her pokemon did break her heart. She was happy that the boy had a connection, especially with a pokemon as cute as his.
Her hits managed to land, at least from what she could tell, from the way the little pokemon's guard dropped, even just a bit. Lowering those stats would mean something,at least, that was what she hoped. But the little buggers arms started to fly forward, right into Eclairage's face. "Try to dodge the attack, You can do it!"
The Pichu was blinded by the first smack to he face, and she squealed, stumbling backwards. the second one smacking her along the back. Whimpering a bit, the Pichu narrowed her eyes a bit, "Okay Eclairage, lets put your name to use! Use Thundershock, Twice!"
Lurching forward, The pichu went on all fours, trying to dance around the flying vines. Her agile form keeping her from being hit a third time. Once close enough, she cried out, sending Lightning from her body directly at the Chespin.
[attr="class","axscroll"]"Alright, direct hits!" Axel exclaimed, happily watching from behind Holly. His first battle was going well it seemed, although he didn't exactly know what he was doing other than throwing out commands here and there. Holly was basically on her own here. One to two moves shouted out and Axel's job was basically done. Maybe this whole battling thing was easier than he thought. However, the Pichu recovered from the attacks. "Careful, Holly, it's recovering. Be on guard." The Chespin nodded, readying herself for whatever the Pichu threw back at her.
The Pichu fired off two Thundershocks, both making a direct hit onto Holly. She squealed slightly in pain, the electricity tickling at her body and causing some shocks to shoot through as well. However, her typing protected her from full damage. Rather surprised herself, the Chespin recovered and looked down at herself, expecting to see some burn marks or something. She was alright though. Holly chattered happily and grinned widely, clapping her paws together. She was still holding back on the Pichu though, it was still too adorable.
"Awesome! Okay, use Tackle now, and then Vine Whip afterwards!" Axel called out. He was really getting into the battling thing. Holly obeyed and cried as she rushed forward, attempting to tackle the Pichu and bring it to the ground to slap it again with a Vine Whip.

Watching the other pokemon diligently, she called out to Eclairage, "Good Job girl! You've done Great!" Although she still seemed somewhat stunned by the last attack, Penelope was determined to keep her pokemon going until the end. Despite the fear that arched through her back. The Chespin was strong, they just needed to be stronger.
Eclairage watched the other pokemon, unknowing of what it's next attack would be. Little frame bouncing slightly at the sound, Pichu waited for her next command, wondering if the girl would be friends with her.
"Lets try another Charm!" But the words reached her pokemon too late for her to react, the Chespin went head first into her little body, bowling her over and making her roll through the grass. Penelope winced herself, scrunching her nose as the vines came at her once more. "Try to dodge it and use your Charm then!"
Flipping up off of her back, Pichu jumped in and out, around the twinning whips that the pokemon had been throwing at her, getting close enough so that she could bat her little eyes at the Chespin.
"Peeeeeeka?"
"Now Eclairage, use thundershock!" Not only was it her only physically attacking move, but it was the only move that could cause a status effect. From reading back in school, Penelope could understand the benefits of paralizing a pokemon. Maybe it would give her an advantage. That is, if it happened. Such a low chance.
Pichu Threw its hands out, trying to grab the Chespins shoulders and hug it, shock waves leaving its fur and tyring to make contact.
[attr="class","axscroll"]'Damn, that little Pichu is fast.' Axel thought to himself. He thought for sure that Holly was going to tackle the Pokemon down and deal a decent amount of damage. But Penelope was quick to have her Pichu's back, telling it to dodge the incoming Vine Whip. Although the Tackle had hit, the Pichu managed to dodge out of the way from the Vine Whip. Holly's paws instead slammed into the ground. The Chespin recoiled from the attack and retracted her vines, jumping up right. But despite the set backs, the battle seemed to be going well for Axel and Holly. That was, until, the Pichu charmed her again.
'Dammit.' Axel cursed to himself. Holly found herself lowering her guard and attack. How could she harm such a cute face like that? There was no way! But if this kept up, Holly's attacks wouldn't do anything. At this point, Axel felt like it could be a long and drawn out fight. Between the Thundershocks and the super weak Vine Whips. But the question was, whose Pokemon was weaker at the moment? Axel honestly couldn't tell, he was silently hopping it was Penelope's Pichu and not Holly.
The Chespin yelped in surprise when the Pichu grabbed her shoulders, sending a shock through her body. Even though the move barely effected her, Holly wasn't happy about the move at all. "Holly! Take advantage of that, use some Vine Whips!" Axel yelled out. If the Pichu wanted to be that close, it'd have to pay! Holly wiggled her way out of the Pichu's grip and raised both hands, slamming them down and attempting to hit the electric type with two more Vine Whips.

It hit once more, doing less and less damage to her pokemon. But, damage was damage and it was starting to stack up. No matter how many attacks she did, it seemed to not break through the Pokemon's defense. She needed to get thought that, at least somehow, before she ended up losing with her baby in front of her. The tough little cookie successfully dodged the whips then, hopefully she could do it again. "keep up the good work, and watch yourself, you are really close!"
She didn't mean for the little girl to get as close as she was, her body nearly touching Chespins. That was a mistake.
Two hard slaps, right into the side of Eclairage's face made her cry out in desperation. Even her quick feet and attempted dodging couldn't pull her away from the second vine whip. Jumping in the air, miscalculating the speed, She was slammed down and back to the earth, tumbling a few feet before managing to jump back up and rush forward.
"That's it, shake it off Eclairage. Now Try again, and double up the voltage."
'PiPiPiPI' She huffed with each forward swing of her little limbs, to send off the first from a distance, and sliding around to its left, trying to flank it with another attack. They could do it, she believed in her.
[attr="class","axscroll"]At this point, Axel wasn't too sure what he could do. Holly only had physical attacks, and the Charm had taken her attack stat way too low, her attacks were barely doing anything. But the Pichu wasn't doing that much to Holly either. Her typing was strong against electric types, so right now it just looked like two Pokemon slapping each other until the other one fell. And Axel was hoping that Holly could power through and take down the Pichu, even if it took a little while.
"Come on, Holly! You can get through this, keep up the Vine Whips as best as you can!" Axel encouraged. There wasn't much he could do other than encourage and cheer Holly on.
The Thundershocks came in again and Holly could feel herself getting weaker. She wasn't too sure how healthy the Pichu was, but she could only guess. At least the Pichu wasn't able to paralyze her yet, that was one thing she was thankful for. Again, the Chespin raised her hands and tried hitting the Pichu with a Vine Whip twice.

The two were at a stand still, waiting for one of their pokemon to fall over, get a crit, or status the other. Their power became equal, the strength that they had balanced precariously on the idea that one of them would stutter just a bit to the weight of the situation at hand. Penelope just hoped that Eclairage could take the damage dealt to her.
"pi"
Huffing once more, she twisted around the Chespin, trying to get away from the vines that were chasing her, but her movements were slowing, with her HP slowly dwindling, so was her speed.
Penelope placed her Hand on her hip before throwing it out. "Okay Eclairage, watch for their attacks, as soon as it comes close, electrocute the vines." Maybe that would be helpful. Large painful welts raised up through the Pichu's skin,as she tried to land two more thunder shocks. Bright light filtered through her little cheeks and right at her opponent.
[attr="class","axscroll"]It felt more like a waiting game than it did a battle, although Axel assumed that some battles were going to feel like that. But he couldn't help but shift his feet in place anxiously as he waited for Holly to be able to move. The only thing that kept him sane was occasionally rubbing the egg inside his back.
Again, the Pichu released the Thundershocks. The Pokemon shocked Holly through her vines and caused the Chespin to squeal out in pain. "Holly, you can beat it! Just keep up the Vine Whips!" Axel encouraged. If Holly was going to win this battle, then she needed some damn good encouraging words to get her through it.
Holly stood tall and rushed forward again, crying out as she ran back into battle. The vines came out again, and this time Holly tried to wrap one around the Pichu and toss it around like a rag doll. She was desperately trying to bring the electric type down in any way she could, and it was really showing in her choice of moves.

Pichu heaved a tired breath, her body torn and scratched from the relentless attacks that had gone through her system. She wanted to win, she needed to win, but all she was seeing was the darkness of the future. Maybe, at some point, the little electric type would find something to do, but at this point she was lost in a world of vines and missed opportunities.
"Try Charm, once more, If they can't do damage, we're going to have some sort of luck, right?" Eclairage turned her tiny little head and nodded, breaking her concentration and pulling it away from the grass type pokemon.
Unfortunately, that was when he decided to attack. "Quickly, try and dodge!" But it was much too late, the grass type had her by the stomach, picking her up and slamming her on the ground, relentlessly, over and over and over again. "Eclairage! Use something, anything!"
The pichu trembled, slightly, looking directly at Holly with a saddened pain filled look. She just wanted her to stop, she was just a tiny little baby pokemon. She didn't have to keep doing this. Little crystal tears fell from her eyes as she tried to grab onto the vine and shock her again. It hurt so bad!
[attr="class","axscroll"]"Oh my ARCEUS, stop it with the Charms!" Axel exclaimed out loud. This battle was dragging on forever and he just couldn't take it anymore. "Holly, you can power through this! Take down that Pichu with everything you got!" He encouraged. Half of Axel's energy was coming from his annoyance and impatience, but he also didn't want Holly to lose. Not like this at least. In the back of his mind, he made a mental note to teach her some special type move so something like this wouldn't happen again.
Holly was getting frustrated as well. But she just couldn't hurt the Pichu as much as she wanted too, it was way too cute! A little whip here and there would be okay. The Thundershock came down on her again and Holly could feel her health just slipping away. But she fought back with as much force as she could. The vines came out again, lashing out at the Pichu and hoping to bring it down soon.
