[attr="class","textscroll"]The Hoenn region. It was definitely different than Kalos, that was for sure. The weather was more humid, it had a tropical feel to it so far. Brook enjoyed it. He shifted his bag to his side and placed his headphones on, checking the time on his phone and then placing it in his pocket. The music was blasting out of Brook's headphones, even Skull could hear it. Although, the Houndour didn't seem to care. The dark type walked right along side Brook with a serious expression on his face, glancing up at Brook every so often before focusing his attention back on the road ahead.
The next down ahead was Oldale, and from there it was a straight dash to Petalburg City, where the first gym was. Brook hoped to pick up at least a grass or water type on the routes ahead. If he didn't, then there was a good chance he was screwed. Skull couldn't deal with rock types very well. "Keep your eyes open, Skull. We should get some training done before we hit the next town." Brook said. The Houndour nodded and stayed on alert, ears twitching at any sound.
pawniard hears the footsteps a from a a short distance away. she jumps out of the bushes, ready to battle. with a slash she aims to scratch at the houndour. she wants a fight!
Hit by Scratch Used Fire Spin and Ember [attr="class","textscroll"]Their walk was quiet until suddenly the bushes on the side rustled and a Pokemon jumped out. Brook jumped backwards a few feet, avoiding the Pawniard. Skull wasn't so lucky. The Houndour yelped as the Pokemon's claws made contact and skidded back on the path a few inches. He shook the attack off and growled deeply at the wild Pokemon.
"Looks like we lucked out." Brook said as he positioned himself behind Skull. Pawniards were Dark types, which was exactly what Brook wanted. He felt especially lucky because the Pokemon was also a Steel type on top of it, so Skull had the upper hand in the long run. "Fire Spin, then Ember."
Skull obeyed instantly. The Houndour took a breath and spat out a small ring of fire that hit the ground. It soon ignited and tried trapping the Pawniard inside the spiral of fire. Skull then darted to the side, opening his mouth and firing off an Ember attack. Both he and Brook were feeling confident about this battle, and they had no reason not to. Skull had the clear advantage.
Catching Pawniard [attr="class","textscroll"]Before either of them knew it, the battle was over. The combination of Fire Spin and Ember was too much for the steel type to handle and the Pokemon was knocked out in an instant. Skull relaxed his muscles and huffed as he returned to Brook's side. That battle was nothing for him, he was a little disappointed it ended so quickly. But on the up side, it showed that he was strong. At least in his head it did.
Brook patted the Houndour on his head, earning a proud growl from the fire type. "Well done." Brook praised. He withdrew his arm and searched for an empty Pokeball, tossing it at the Pawniard and waited for it to capture before continuing onward.
carnivine jolts awake at the sound of fighting. she peers outside -- oh my, a houndour! he looks likegood prey. when they get close she lunges at them, aiming to bite it and and swallow it whole.
[attr="class","textscroll"]Houndour was hit by Bite! Used Ember and Fire Spin
Once the Pokeball clicked, Brook picked it up and minimized it, placing it away in his bag. He decided to let the Pokemon rest in peace and comfort instead of staying on his belt. After all, he was going to be counting on the Pawniard a lot in the future. "Good job, Skull." Brook said as he turned. The Houndour snorted proudly and turned around, heading further down the path towards the next town.
Their trip down 101 had been pretty quiet for the most part, that was until a large Pokemon jumped out of nowhere. Skull reacted quickly and jumped in front of Brook, taking the attack and yelping when the teeth bite down into his skin. Brook was taken off guard, he stepped away from the Carnivine and frowned. "Skull, get out of its grip. Ember and Fire Spin if you have to." He called out.
The Houndour struggled in the Carnivine's mouth but failed to escape. So, he did what any fire type would do: attack. Skull opened his mouth and let out a barrage of Embers at the Carnivine's face, hoping to make the Pokemon release him. If that didn't work, another ball of fire was released, hoping to engulf the Carnivine in a pit of fire.
ouch ouch ouch! carnivine lets go of the houndour when the fire suddenly burns her. the flames engult and eat at her leaves. she's on fire! carnivine flails, trying to take it out.
[attr="class","textscroll"]Skull dropped to the ground and jumped back to Brook's side. Brook couldn't help but feel a little sorry for the Carnivine, he didn't mean for Skull to put that much power into his moves. "Shit." He said, watching as the Carnivine flailed around. It wasn't very successful in putting the fire out either. The Trainer and Houndour glanced at each other for a moment before Brook decided they should help.
He carefully approached the grass type and his brain was working on a solution. "Skull, kick up some dirt if you can." Brook commanded. The Houndour nodded and raced forward, turning around on his heels and kicking the dirt from the path onto the Carnivine. If Brook had a water type, he'd have no problem putting the fire out. But all he had was Skull, who knew nothing BUT fire type moves. It wasn't like he could touch the Carnivine either.
Hovering near the Pokemon, he took a step back and bit his lip. "Try to drop and roll on the dirt, Carnivine." Brook suggested. It was unlikely the Pokemon would listen to him, but it was worth a try. The next best solution was to knock out the Pokemon and then take it to the Pokemon Center in Oldale Town. Brook was hoping it wouldn't come to that though, he didn't wanna put the Pokemon in more pain than it already was.
Brook and Skull try to put the fire out! Stop, drop and roll Carnivine.
there's dirt kicked onto him, but its not enough to put out the fire. carnivine finally just chooses to listen to the trainer, dropping to the ground and rolling. the flames eventually fade, leaving a smoldering and burnt carnivine.
[attr="class","textscroll"]Well it looked like it had worked. Although, the Carnivine did freak out. A lot. The Pokemon finally took Brook's advice and rolled on the ground, finally putting itself and flopping on the ground defeated. Skull cautiously hovered near the Pokemon, in case it still had some fight left in it. He didn't really want to attack it again, especially after what it had been through. The Houndour didn't mean to set the Pokemon on fire, and even if he did mean to, he didn't mean for it to be that painful.
Brook hovered near his Houndour, staring at the Carnivine and anticipating it to do something. However, the Pokemon didn't move. He let his guard go down a bit and slowly pulled out a Pokeball. "Okay, how about you come with me and I'll get your burns taken care of?" Brook offered, showing the Pokeball and waiting to see what the Carnivine would do before tossing it.
ooc: Brook is being nice. Go with him Carnivine. Do it. FOR THE HEALTH CARE.
carnivine felt its leaves smoldering. oh, would the gods have mercy on it. she nodded quickly and once she was sucked into a pokeball, everything feels much better.
carnivine is successfully captured! another pokeon?
[attr="class","textscroll"]The Carnivine was quick to agree, allowing itself to be sucked inside the Pokeball and captured. Brook minimized the Pokeball and clicked it back on his belt, nodding for Skull to walk with him. "Come on, we should get the Carnivine to the Pokemon Center." He said. Although the Pokeball helped with keeping the Pokemon comfortable, the Pokemon Center was where the Carnivine could be completely healed. Although, Brook couldn't really see himself using the Pokemon very much in the future. But type diversity was good. In reality, he'd hang onto the Grass type until something better came along.
Skull wandered up to Brook's side, taking the lead once again and advancing towards the next town.
inkay perks up in surprise as she spots the houndour. is it friendly or hostile? she doesn't know, but she approaches it anyways, wrapping her tentacles around it to constrict it and wrap it into a hug. please love me.
[attr="class","textscroll"] It wasn't long after the Carnivine encounter that Skull and Brook found another Pokemon. At leas this one was something Brook wanted.
Out of the corner of his eye, Brook spotted a Pokemon jumping out. It wasn't going for him, however. The Inkay wrapped its tentacles around Skull, and the Houndour was not pleased. The canine growled and barked, struggling to get out of the Inkay's grasp. Brook held in a chuckle, the sigh was rather amusing. But enough was enough, time to catch the Inkay.
"Skull, use Fire Spin and then Ember." Brook ordered. Skull was quick to obey. With the Inkay right on top of him, the fire type took a breath and spat out a ring of fire. The Fire Spin hopefully caused the Pokemon to let go, and the trap it for a bit. On top of that, the Houndour also attacked again. Small embers were fired out, aiming right for the Inkay!
