She was yet again walking the routes in a simple attempt to reach the next town- the quicker she was at the aqua headquarters, the better. She was sick of walking around without anything to do, so to put the metaphorical purpose into her stride, Lamia had decided to do some research while she was at it. Not exactly research, but more of a loose kind of experimentation. It would work, she didn't doubt that. But the trick was in the fact that she ha no idea what it would do or if it would back fire.
The method was a simply drug to put into wild Pokemon and attempt to alter their minds or even their matter. She was wearing sunglasses and a small black mask that covered her mouth. Her hair was done into a black fedora and her whole appearance could give interpreted in only two ways- either a completely professional business woman, or a sinister criminal.
The problem was that she was both, and right now she was acting on the benefit of both sides of her: the aqua grunt Sin and the scientist and professor, Lamia Sinclair.
She knelt down and opened her briefcase, which at a quick glance you could see easily contained various suspicious instruments, complete with a syringe containing a vile looking cerulean liquid. She grabbed the closest little Pokemon she could find (a Budew), and pressed the syringe to its bare skin, just seconds away from doing whatever she had come to do.
Bored bored bored, Sam Holiday made his way onto Route 102 with a slight groan. He was having a pretty boring day in general so far, having decided to wait around Oldale town for a bit longer. Just in case someone like Ai or another member of the old...well now his old House of Cards club came through town.
He wasn't one hundred percent sure that he wasn't the only one that received that weird text message, but it seemed a lot more likely that at least one other person had gotten it. With Oldale town being a town somewhat close to the 'beginning' place in the region he might get lucky and bump into someone.
Eventually though Sam would of gotten tired of just sitting around in town and headed out to Route 102, trying to find something to do. For the moment the boy had left his red scarf inside of his backpack,, which was still on his back, not wrapping it around his neck this time. He wasn't sure what would happen while he was out here and had no desire at all to jeopardize the safety of that special scarf.
It was one of the few things he had here in Hoenn with him that had a pretty deep connection to Ai involved with it. One year for Christmas Sam had ended up getting the two of them matching red scarfs, so the item itself was pretty special to him.
While he walked along the route Sam would eventually spot a girl with a black fedora on her head...well at least Sam thought the person was a girl. He'd blink in confusion at first at the other person, mainly do to their appearance, they seemed like some type of criminal. Until he noticed the budew in their arms and the syringe pressed against it's skin. Sam ended up blinking again at this before simply letting out a slightly angry sounding, "Uhh...the fuck are you doing?"
Lamia smiled sadistically as the Budew squirmed, her fedora blocking the all too familiar gleam in her eyes as the Syringe found its target. Just as her thumb found the trigger it was itching to pull, Lamia found herself interrupted. A loud tsk left her mouth as she lifted herself up, hand going to the fedora and pushing it down so the man before her could not recognize her as Lamia Sinclair.
She then looked at him from beneath the rim of the hat and from behind the black shade of the sunglasses. "It is none of your concern, child." The male was almost a foot taller than her, but she did not care. Everyone was below her in position and she would go untouched. The hopefulness of youths amused her, but also lighted within her some kind of annoyance which could only stream from jealousy.
Her gloved hand revealed a pokeball and she threw it towards the male with the single instruction: "Alpha, d not let the imbecile disturb me."
A large huntail appeared, trashing and kicking about as it got used to its new environment. It then dived forward towards Sam, aiming to bite off his leg. Lamia then proceeded to ignore the boy and removed a net from her briefcase which quickly ensnared the Budew. It appeared she would have to complete the experiment in her own lab.
The electric currents began hissing and strangling the Budew.
The job would work even if the pokemon was dead, so it made no matter to Lamia.
Sam's eye twitched a bit once the..well know he knew it was a woman by the voice..once the woman called him a child. It looked like he was practically towering over the woman in height at the moment. If anyone was the child it would of been her based off there heights. The boy already didn't like the general vibe the woman was giving off with her disguise and attitude problem.
The boy would actually begin to smirk a bit after the child comment as well, a hand mindlessly drifting down to a pokeball. 'I'll show her who the child is, she'll be nothing compared to me.' he thought to himself, gripping down on the pokeball.
If there was ever anyone to not think of when it came to "youth's hopefulness" it would be Sam. His hopefulness was replaced a long long time ago, replaced with a desire for power, to get stronger. And a delusion that if he gets powerful enough he'll some how be able to see his best friend again. If he told anyone else his goals it'd more then likely seem like the ramblings of some madman or a delusional person.
But to Sam it just made perfect sense, but only do to the whole tarot card thing that had happened with the house of cards club from his old high school days.
Once the Huntail appeared and came after him Sam would only smirk more at the sight of the pokemon. Not waisting any time he'd his the button on the pokeball he was holding onto, sending his Deino out in front of him. "Do your thing Maleficent." He said, causing the Deino to fire off two Dragon Rage attacks at the Huntail.
Seeing as it's the only attack she's use so far it sort of became her go to attack. Not bothering to see if either attack would hit Sam looked back over at where the woman was, noticing that she had simply gone back to doing whatever it was to teh budew. A bit peeved he'd yell out "Hey don't fucking ignore me!"
The kid seemed annoyed, Lamia observed. It made no matter. Her violet, lifeless eyes went to the Budew that continued to struggle, and she watched it writhe, mild fascination lighting up her features. The budew's pain was interesting and had to be documented- what were the lengths of pokemon pain if they could so easily feel unaffected by things that were lethal to humans? What would it take to damage a legendary being like kyogre?
She wasn't even looking at Sam, to be perfectly honest. She expected Alpha to make short work of the feeble kid, despite how tall he was. It was something she learned in all those years of cold business- how to judge the worth of someone with one look. Perhaps she was used to not seeing anything, but her eyes overlooked so easily the ambition inside Sam's mind.
Perhaps her senses were growing dull.
"Hunnnntaiiiil!"
A sharp scream of pain pierced into her ears and she turned around in shock, budew dropped on the ground as her mouth was agape. Alpha fell to the floor, too weak from just a single attack.
Lamia instantly forced the cool back into her face."Tch, I see I underestimated you, child." She threw another pokeball, unleashing both her porygon and her shellder at once. They began attacking, one with a rock smash and the other using a tackle. Both were fast, and Lamia's expression was angered.
She put the huntail back in its ball, unable to hide the sheer disappointment in her face.
"You're Arceus damn right you did!" Sam yelled out after the underestimating him comment. He was already pissed off about whatever it was she was doing to the Budew, underestimating him was only adding fuel to that fire in him.
It also didn't help that Deino made super quick work of the Huntail, which caused Sam to smirk almost instantly. It gave him even more confidence at the moment, after all if Deino could handle her Huntail like that whose to say it wouldn't be able to do that to the rest of her pokemon..right?
None the less Sam wasn't worried at all in, in his own mind he knew he'd come out of this encounter on top. Just another little stepping stone on his path to finding Ai and doing this Emperor shit right?
In fact he'd barely bat an eye as the strange woman sent out two other pokemon to attack him, knowing that Maleficent had that shit covered already.
Which she did...sort of...the Deino managed to jump out of the way of the rock smash attack, which ended up causing her to jump right into the path of the tackle attack. Which sent her rolling back a bit, only to get back up to her feet right next to her trainer. "You can handle this Maleficent, I know you can...Just hit both of them with that attack!" With a quick nod of her head after that Maleficent would get to work, moving forward a bit so she wasn't putting her trainer in too much danger, before firing a Dragon Rage at the Shellder. Then turning her head and firing off a second Dragon Rage attack right at the Porygon.
She saw it then, the little twinkle in his eyes. It was defiant, annoying, the kind little kids had. But the fact he had retained it for so long meant that he had fought for it, which caused a crooked smile to appear on her lips, which quickly disappeared when she realized that she was not much match for a deino at this range.
She scowled, annoyed obviously at the growing sense of impending defeat. The budew she carried was suffering under her iron grip that only twisted more as the Deino dodged an maneuvered around the attacks.
Epsilon and Sigma did not disappoint her however, as both pokemon expertly avoided the oncoming purple flames. As a result the two attacks flew right by her, the brieg stream of rage rippling her clothing and forcing her blue bun back into the ponytail it once was.
The rage reminded her of what the true dangerous people were capable of- dark things, things that this boy could obviously do if it weren't for the silly path of good he had set himself on. She sighed, and snapped her fingers. Epsilon, her Shellder, took the lead and launched two Rock Smashes in quick succession, aiming at the Deino. Porygon watched from behind, ready to take care of trouble if it arose.
The rage he was feeling it felt...well it felt good. He felt powerful, he felt like he could take on anything, anyone even. This must be what it felt like to be some type of Emperor. Maybe thats what the whole tarot card thing meant, that he needs to keep getting stronger, and stronger, and stronger, and stronger...
The idea of it at least made sense to Sam, after all you can't defeat the entire elite four and their champion if you weren't strong. Power might just end up being really damn important down the line. These events were only helping that, making feel even stronger then before.
Soon a smirk would grow across his face, not because of how good he was doing time, but however due to the effects the Dragon Rage attacks had. Even when they missed their targets the attacks were still strong enough to ripple the woman's clothes and loosen hair just by being near her.
He had certainly wound up with a pretty great partner for this whole power trip thing. As soon as the Shellder ran in for the two Rock Smash attacks Deino would stand still for the first attack, taking it head on and getting sent backwards a bit.
Only to use that backwards momentum to leap back a bit further, out of the way of the second attack. "Keep it up Maleficent.." Sam muttered out after the attacks were dodged. Giving the Deino her next orders already, which much like all the rest today were Dragon Rages.
Deino would open her mouth up and fire a Dragon Rage at the Shellder, only to reopen her mouth after the attack was done and fire a second one at the Shellder as well.
While this was going on Sam would keep his eyes on the women holding the Budew, all the while his hand reaching down to grab the second pokeball on his belt.
